How can one tell/know whether an android wear watch can have a compass that works? So far the only two i have gotten to work are the Moto 360 1st gen and the LG Watch R. I've confirmed the Moto 360 2nd gen, Asus Zenwatch 3, Samsung Gear S3 using the dynamic watch face do not work. When i look on gsm arena, none of these watches speak of a magnetometer, just an accelerometer and gyro... however i feel this is not accurate.

The Zenwatch 1, 2 and 3 do not have the compass feature.
The compass feature requires hardware in the watch itself.
None of the watchfaces which has a compass option will work.
Also none of the apps which have a compass function will work.
Good luck, have a great day!

I'm using the "Ranger Military Watch Face" from the Play store and its compass function works perfectly.

Which/what hardware is needed? What is it called?

I thought the same with the same face, but checked against the phone and what I know to be North, it's not accurate. Was hoping it would work with Maps, maybe getting a feed from a device, but although it's consistent with your movements, it is not with correct direction.

Guys, I'm very interested in buying an Android Wear watch, especially the Moto 360.
Will it sync with the the standard Samsung apps like Walking Mate? Or does it sync to some Google app?
Can someone give me their views?
I use Samsung's Walking Mate religiously. I want to know if it will show my (Walking Mate) steps that are on my phone to an Android Wear watch.

I have both and anything with a notification seems to work across the two devices.

Thanks mate! So your saying, it doesn’t matter what app I use on my phone, as long as my phone gets a notification, it will appear on my smart watch? But, how about the Walking Mate steps count? I only see this number on my s-view screen, and the Walking Mate widget.

Yes to all notifications. 360 has built in pedometer, but i don't have Walking Mate so I can't speak for how well that app pairing works, sorry.
Doing a Google search for Samsung S Health leads me to believe that one of the features it has is tracking blood glucose levels. I can't seem to find this in the app at all. Does anyone know how to access this feature or did they take it out in the Note 4?
It does not measure or track glucose levels.

I was looking for this as well, as far as I can tell, S Health did have the option, but Samsung dropped it in a previous update. A little annoying.. I've been using a program called Glooko, which, while I can't track glucose along with the other health information, it does work very well for connecting via a USB OTG cable to a Bayer Contour NEXT usb meter to download and track levels straight from the meter with basic graphing and averaging.
It would be very nice to have this functionality in S Health to be able to track everything together.
Hey guys,
My G Watch R is showing up tomorrow. Getting really excited. Been tracking it since it left South Korea on Thursday. It's in Memphis, TN right now. On it's way to Vancouver, BC.
I have put a few watchfaces and apps on my Google Play Wishlist that I want to load on the watch immediately.
Does anyone have any suggestions for watchfaces or apps to use on the watch?
Thanks!
My favorite watch face so far is Pujie Black. As far as apps, wear mini launcher is a must in my opinion. I also really like using IFTTT.

This is my favorite watch face as well. It's nice because you can still really read the time when a notification is blocking the hands.
So I got the Gear VR today. It's ****ing amazing.... So next step. How do I get this to mirror my pc so that I can use it to play apps set up for the Oculus Rift from my computer? Any ideas where to start? Must see Hawken...

I think for now there is no good solution yet because of too high latency for VR. But if you want to watch your own 2D/3D/360° movies you can just put them on the SD card of the Note 4 to watch in Gear VR.

It works. But it's a method of screen mirroring to your device. Apparently there are some quirks that need to be worked out to get it fully operational. It requires an additional app for head tracking. Plus you need to basically mod every pc program you want to use to support what is essentially a false HMD. I'm still working on it.

I've also noticed a lot of latency issues with a lot of apps meant for cardboard versus the gear vr apps. Basically anything meant for cardboard is "ok" as far as head tracking goes. But the gear apps are nearly perfect. (you can use cardboard apps by sliding the phone into place while holding the usb connection tilted so it doesn't quite connect) As an example, I tried Vanguard V before it was released for gear using the cardboard version. The tracking lag was irritating to say the least. But when I tried the gear version, the tracking was perfect. This makes me hesitant on how well this will work in general. Though some of them are hit or miss on tracking. A few are almost as good as the gear vr stuff. Almost. I think the Gear VR headset may have additional tracking sensors built into it. After all, it says "mouse disconnected" when you remove the handset from the headset.
I think there is gyro in headset itself. There is folder called oculus in phone storage with "gyrocalibration" file inside

That also could be calibration on the phone gyro.

Use kinoconsole works great for me on note 4

Guys,
I just purchased the LG Urbane Watch and I like to check with you all whether there is any useful apps or Fitness Apps beside the Google Fit to use with the Watch.
Does this watch do sleep tracking?
Appreciate your input, thanks.
It can do sleep tracking with the Sleep As Android app

Sleep like Android
Endomondo is a nice fitness app and became even better with Android Wear.
