Scrolling smoothness - Sony Xperia X Real Life Review

Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Sony Xperia X under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

very smooth, thanks to near-stock OS

Agree, it is very smooth all the time

if power saver mod is on! then many features are disabled to save battery and I experienced lags while
1. scrolling (in general)
2. whatsaap sending / receiving videos
3. browsing
however if you switchoff power saving mode! the device is smooth as velvet!

you can further access to the option of power saving mode - you still can get smooth scrolling in power mode. And of course, the battery consumption will be higher than normal power-saving, but lower than normal use

Power and Performance

A quick question
Is it normal that when the battery is very low the Diamond becomes very slow in performance.

[Q] Request - run "heating benchmark"

Hello guys!
This is my first time posting here, so if I'm breaking any rules please let me know
Anyway, I'm looking to get a new Android device and I'm think I'm going to get the new Sony Xperia Z. The only problem is that I can't get a real device to test it (for just like 30 minutes). Anyway, I've watched a bunch of reviews and read many articles so I good to go, except for one thing - I want to know how much the phone heats when it's running at 100%.
I've already seen some threads here on XDA, but they are mostly subjective (temperatures are mentioned as warm and hot). I would like to get more objective result. If you own a Xperia Z device, you can help me - it won't take too much of your time
Anyway, here is what I'm proposing as a more objective test:
1) Download and install StabilityTest i System Tuner. You can get them in the Play Store.
2) Close all running apps. Run System Tuner. Open Settings -> Recording preferences -> Items to record and check CPU frequency and CPU temperature.
3) Go to the main menu of the System Tuner app and click icon named "Start" (upper right corner). Now the app is logging the in CPU frequency and temperature. Click on CPU icon and not your current temperature.
4) Leave System Tuner running in the background and open StabilityTest. Click on the first button (Classic Stability test). Leave it running for at least 20 minutes.
5) After at least 20 minutes have passed, you can close StabilityTest and stop recording in the System Tuner. The log will be saved on you SD card in the folder pwm/recordings. Please attach it in you post
Please post your battery percentage before you have started StabilityTest and after you've closed it. Also, please post whether you did the test with you phone on or off the charger.
Thanks!

You don't need all this benchmarks because its common sense really. I have the device, on normal operations e.g. browsing, videos etc.. it doesn't get hot, but a bit warm near the rear camera. But, if you do intensive tasks e.g. playing a game e.g. nova 3 etc.. then it gets a bit more hot, but not so much to burn your hands. This is normal because think about the horse power this phone has in a slim form factor and all the heat that gets generated without any cooling fans. Its normal but its not normal if it goes beyond the range of operations, which in my case, I have not noticed. I had a Motorola Droid the keyboard version, that device got extremely hot and it was really uncomfortable to hold.
As a user, I am very pleased with this smartphone and ofcoz it has drawbacks then again no phone is perfect. Hope this helps what you looking for without benchmarks

Transitioning from a low end HTC Incredible S, I found it very unusual how the phone got warm by just going through the user interface.
then i ran qualcomm trepn profiler and it showed that my 1st cpu core was doing anything between 1ghz and 1.5ghz at any given time.
possibly fixed with a kernel tweak?

It should be common sense, but I've read about Xperia Z on many pages. And some users say that it only gets warm, others say it's hot when gaming and some say that it's running too hot. Maybe some of them do have defective units, so this test would be also great for comparison between units. Can you run the test? You don't even need to run it for 20 minutes, 10 should be enough. Or if you won't/can't do the test, can you at least just check in the System Tuner if Xperia Z has CPU temperature sensor - if it doesn't have one then I can stop searching for people who own it.
P.S. Can somebody say if Xperia Z is running hotter or colder than Samsung Galaxy S2?

Gaming Frame Rate Drop (Asphalt 8)

I decided to download Asphalt 8 last night to see how the Note 5 handles it, initially it looked good but after 20 seconds or so the frame rate slowed down considerably - I would guess less than 10 frames a second. I uninstalled it, cleared the cache, reinstalled but still the same issue. This is on High settings which is the default setting. It's like the phone starts to throttle after a short amount of time racing?
Is anyone else playing Asphalt 8, have you seen anything similar?
I downloaded AnTuTu bench and was getting over 60,000 which seems in line with other Note 5's and 3D Mark also seems to match up so i'm not sure if this is just Asphalt 8 or a bigger problem.
I installed CPU-z so I could monitor temperature and if I check it when the game is running slow the Exynos reports around 60c which doesn't seem that high?
i've only tried it on my S6e without any noticeable issues. do you have Power Saving mode off?
(Sent from another Galaxy)
Yup both power saving modes are definitely off.
There are drops in some games after minutes of gameplay, that because of Samsung TW DVFS, which basically monitors and throttles the CPU way too fast.
If u have root, u can set cpu govenor to performance when playing, that will eliminate all the lag, that what i do.

General 2 main issues I hate on the Mi 11

Smartphone hardware these days are close to perfection. The performance is overkill. The only bottleneck is the software. Crappy software prevents the users from getting the full potential of the device. I am not certain if these issues are just software related alone, if it is, then I hope Xiaomi could fix this. Flashing the latest EU ROM didn't help, so there must be an issue within MIUI's core.
1.) The phone heats up really fast
- Is this because of Samsung 5nm? I could not believe that a 5nm could heat up so easily. I am not claiming that the phone is overheating.
I have not faced any fps drops in game. I have to remove my case when playing games. Running a background app like Bittorent/Utorrent or any other downloading service will surely heat your phone quite fast, to the point where it is no longer comfortable to hold. I hope custom rom and custom kernel development will rise, so we can manually adjust the CPU frequency.
2.) 120hz is not smooth. There are noticeable micro-stutters.
I tried using the force 120hz adb command, but still I am getting micro-stutters when scrolling through apps and multi-tasking. This could be probably mean that the app itself is not optimized for 120hz phones, but Facebook, Instagram and Chrome are still having stutters and these are mainstream apps.
I could not fully enjoy the 1440p + 120hz HDR display. I already tried going down to 1080p and turning off battery saving mode. The phone would just hop between 60hz and 90hz without reason, and you have manually go to the display settings to turn on 120hz because it would just set to 60hz by itself!

Question S23 Battery Optimization

S23 has been reported to have excellent battery life.
However, do you guys still optimize it for even better battery life?
Below are what I have done on previous S22 because of it's notorious battery life:
1. Followed [GUIDE] [NO-ROOT] Complete Samsung OneUI Optimization
- Most settings applied
- Phone set up without Smart Switch
- Adaptive Battery disabled
2. Installed [App]Galaxy Max Hz (Refresh Rate Mods, Screen-off Mods, QS Tiles, Tasker Support and More)
- Adaptive Refresh on Power-Saving mode On
- Adaptive Min 10Hz, and Max 120Hz
- Force Lowest Hz on screen-off (10Hz)
3. Settings
- Sync disabled
- Always-On Display - Tap to show
- NFC, Location, off when not in use
- Power Saving mode 24/7 (Thanks to Galaxy Max Hz app, 120hz still remains)
I am honestly blown away how good the battery life is. I was used to barely 5 hours of sot with my OP7T and now over 10 hours while I have two sims active all the time, bluetooth connected to my watch, AOD always on and rooted device with plenty of root apps running in background all the time. I tried to discharge it during one day, but I failed. Yesterday I had 8:15 sot while 30% left and I am quite a power user (reddit, youtube, social media, 2 hours of pubg, some taking of pictures and more). And I havent even started to optimize the device myself (like uninstall or disable the preinstalled apps, galaxy max hz app and more). I will, once I have more time, but from the battery perspective it is not even necessery.

Right? I just want to use the phone with my chosen apps without a lot of gymnastics and have good battery...

I checked this topic. It's crazy so many things he disables. The smartphone has nothing smart left..
And the most curious thing is that he kept animations ^^
I was about to suggest you to put 0x to all three dev options
You will feel your phone snappier and I guess it is a battery optimisation.
