you are the man thank you. will try it tonight
@LinhPhi9x94 - can your ROM be used with stock kernel? i have the K version with my custom CSC files to use with ATT and i'm concerned that a non-stock Kernel would cause issues. (yes, i'm clueless about the Kernel features you've listed in the OP). thanks.
@LinhPhi9x94 - has anyone tried your ROM on the Note FE? I attempted to install and got several mount errors. Took screenshots in TWRP but can't find them; will post when i locate them.
Whoa , does this mean you can have Root with a spoofed Knox? Does this mean we can edit the CSC to a US one and be able to use Samsung Pay?
EDIT: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/samsung-pay-knox-warranty-void-t3549449/
Looks like there has been success getting Samsung Pay to work on ROMs where KNOX is spoofed. Would be the best thing ever if we can get this working on the Note 7!!

I tried it, having come across it on the N7 forum. This is my experience:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-fe/how-to/custom-rom-note-fe-t3651094
I'd be interested to know if anyone else has that problem with the (disabled) verity function.

once i saw the mounting errors, i stopped the install and reverted to my nandroid backup. will likely stay with latest, rooted OEM ROM. only thing not working for me is the voicemail notification icon in the status bar. not sure if this is a CSC tweak or carrier related flag.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the mounting errors appear however you try to install the custom ROM. But they don't have any effect. Strange. You could try it, if only to satisfy your curiosity. The modifications of the kernel seem to affect performance, but I don't see that the FE needs any kind of overclocking. Otherwise, no mods to the original firmware itself are specified. It really is of benefit to N7 folk only. But as I say, take a look

There are many guides on xda on how to change CSC....search button works great for specific stuff like this.
OEM= Original Equipment Manufacturer
In this case he is saying he will stick with a rooted version of the firmware which came from the factory installed on the device.
This rom is based on factory firmware but with lots of tweaks, changes and improvements over what comes from samsung.
sent from my Note FE, S8 plus, S7 edge or S6

Yes many guides.. but note fe has only 3 csc.. both of them korean.
I would like to learn how to change my Note Fe CSC in italian or european csc

That's going to be a little more complicated...we have root so that helps but hopefully this rom dev can incorporate the note 7 CSCs into either a zip which would flash or perhaps via aroma allow which csc to be chosen during rom install.
Ive seen cscs get swapped like this but usually its one of those 2 things which allows it....there is likely other ways but for that definitely we will need to hit the search button
It would be nice if I can get a T-mobile usa csc.
do you plan on any updates for this rom?
OTG doesn't work btw
Why kernel features are copied from my thread? Why there is no link to the source code?
Thread closed.
@ [OP] Thread will be re-opened when kernel source and proper credits have been included. Report this post when you are ready.

Stock XXLPY/LPF only - confirmed and working. You Should not boot on AOSP/CM9 roms.
This is what my kernel is made off:
* Initramfs with the usual stuff (root, CWM support, recovery etc) based on CF-Root LPY
* Partitions properly mounted in the ramdisk to take the most out from the device
* VM values tweaked up for maximum performance/battery
* Conservative tweaked and made the default governor
* I/O boosted - I/O dirty writeback system backported from 3.2
* CFS scheduler tweaked for maximum interactivity
* CFS Autogroup enabled
* Deadline I/O scheduler by default
* TCP Westwood+ congestion scheduler by default as its more suitable for this kind of devices
* Kernel stripped of debug **** - the only debugs that stayed were: logcat, printk and kallysms (for Voodoo Louder support)
* CRC32 library that is used by a lot of internal kernel mechanics completely patched up to the latest version
* The usual Franco's magic
* SLUB memory allocator
* Wi-Fi power management - echo 1 > /sys/module/dhd/parameters/wifi_pm (this is only available with wifi is turned on. This boosts wifi signal and its specially useful for screen_off streaming, but it might waste a little extra battery)
* Lots more to be seen on my repository
Changelog:
r6:
* All governors removed but one - pegasusq from Samsung
* Merged gokhanmoral work on this cpufreq driver - all credits to him. Also cleaned up a defined but unused function
* fsync() calls reintroduced to match stock behavior. The device actually runs faster/smoother with this enabled - also safer for data integrity (this has nothing to do with superbrick bug)
* Disable mali-400 tracking debug
* Merged two stability hotplug patches from mainline Linux kernel
* Added two modules to userpsace where one can see how many times the CPU was hotplugged in and hotplugged out: cat /sys/module/stand_hotplug/parameters/ cpu_up_nr and cat /sys/module/stand_hotplug/parameters/ cpu_down_nr
* Removed overclocking at all - it was causing heat and stability issues. If you want OC use Tegrak app
* Some config cleaning
r5:
* Added overclock to 1,6Ghz
* Some fixups on cpufreq.c files on exynos arch directory
* initramfs updated to CF-Root v5.6 - all props to Chainfire
r4:
* Some Wi-Fi driver fixes (might help fixing those obtaining IP derps)
* Tons of warnings fixed for a more stable kernel - don't we all want a clean compilation?
* Compiled with special compiler flags for some extra bits of performance
* Fixed a section mismatch - this warnings are one of the worse kind and can possibly lead to big problems. This one is fixed
r3
* Removed MMC_CAP_ERASE - workaround to fix the superbrick bug - thanks Entropy512 for all the research and shared knowledge with us for this god damn bug
* Re-activated dynamic hotplug - the system seems to run smoother with this option and according to Entropy it gives us lower idle drain specially while the system is holding a wakelock
r2
* Initramfs fixed - recovery works, CWM works etc
r1
* Based on Samsung update3 for ICS kernel 3.0.15 - it contains the hardbrick bug so flash at your own rish or just extract the zImage and to /data/local, fire up adb shell and type this: dd if=/data/local/zImage of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 bs=4096 and then reboot
* Contains all the features wrote above plus some small ****s available on my git
* App will be updated in the next 12 hours with a full ICS layout plus tons of useful features. The current version won't load this new kernel version for ICS so don't bother checking it. I'll announce when the new app update is up
F.A.Q:
1. My device rebooted or crashed, how can I help?
A: Get me /proc/last_kmsg or logcat.
2. Battery sucks, my device is not entering deep sleep. FIX PLOX!
A: Fix it yourself, it's an app waking your device up not the kernel's problem. Also make sure you let your device settle for at least 2 charging cycles. Typically apps like Facebook and Google Maps can cause problems since they wake it up pretty much all the time
3. Signal is dropping since I flashed the kernel, amg u sucks!
A: The kernel has nothing to do with gsm/cmda signal. Make sure you have the latest radios
4. Do I need to wipe anything when flashing this kernel?
A: No.
5. Does this kernel has X or Y mod?
A: Learn to read, everything you need to know is in the features list, changelog or public repo.
6. Don't use 3rd party init.d scripts!!!

Thanks, have to check it out and see if it can beat SpeedMod battery life.
Awesome, great to see yet another awesome Franco kernel. You guys are going to love his kernels. They are by far the best kernels you will find. Hop on early for the. Bragging rights
Thanks Franco, maybe soon I'll buy this phone too (if I can get the wife's approval)
wow! one more kernel to try...if possible can you include redpill recovery!
the one thing i missed about my gnex, your kernels!
stoked thanks!
Flashed it a couple of minutes ago. Looking pretty good so far.
I feel that responsivness and scrolling are better than with CF (my usual kernel of choice). There's almost no launcher lag, which is saying something.
Now to see how it affects the old battery...
P.S. It is also compatible with CWM Manager.
Thanks for your hard work, Franco.

How dare you Franco! How dare you post in our forum!
now im going to fall in love with your kernal
This is Great!
Welcome here mate
I've just done backup from CWM Manager, and it was successful.
However, when the phone tried to reboot, it got into bootloop (with both led lights on all the time). Wiping cache/dalvik didn't help.
Restoring my previous Rom now.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
@chasmodo
I can't give you an answer for that, I only have the device for like 30 hours, still lots to learn about it.

The good part for me is that you have the Note your own and not like some other great devs who develop with their thoughts and not support us a lot.
So, welcome mister and i hope you enjoy this great smartphone...

Would a boot.img backup in this case suffice? I haven't flashed the kernel yet but a boot image backup would contain the old kernel as well. The question is mostly if there are any other modifications that are being done.

If you don't have the zip file, I would say, you could restore the boot and system partition from your backup, this should bring back the backuped kernel.

Kernel works great so far. No issues and performance feels good.
What's the best way to switch between SELinux permissive and enforcing on this kernel should one want to experiment with that? Some solutions don't seem to like KNOX but it should be disabled on the kernel, too, right? I'm still struggling to get Magisk Hide working so I'm feeling experimentative.

Yes will ACR call recorder work with this rom? I hate how Samsung has blocked call recording! Flag ship phone, What a joke!

Wifi not working
Wifi not working after flashing this Kernel, it does not find any WIFI. While before the Kernel, it did. Hope that will be fixed.
S9 Plus SM-G965F
Wifi not working - No. 2
Hello,
I have the same poblem as Mac4Best. :crying: But instead, Iˋm operating a SAMSUNG Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F).
Before flashing the NEMESIS kernel I could connect to my Wifi network, after flashing the kernel my SAMSUNG Galaxy S9 searches Wifi networks endlessly without finding even one.
I tried adding my Wifi network manually, but without success.
This situation is a little unsatisfactory because without Wifi no app download/installation (I donˋt want to download my whole 6 GByte app and app data via LTE connection...) so my phone is nothing more than a nice paperweight in the moment
I would be very grateful if this problem were solved very quickly
Thanks a lot for your excellent work and greetings from Germany

Thanks, good to see you involved in the S9 development too, my S8 would have been less enjoyable without your input

I'm not planning to add any OC/UC things to be honest
Is dex patched? can we start Dex with "normal" hdmi adapter and/or chromecast or sideview/miracast?
hi, do we still have to flash no-verity after the kernel?

I have a stock S9+ atm.
Do I need to wipe anything to get this kernel?
How is battery-life compared to stock?
Also I am wondering if SABS work on this?
Are you working on any custom roms? Loved your roms and kernels on S7 and S8
I found that random rw speed is drastically reduced due to the linux updates. I'll find the related commit and revert it!
Thanks for your understanding
In case anything goes wrong or looks suspicious, you can always attach a log from your problem :good:

Once again you are leading the way! Thanks for all you are doing - it helps make this awesome phone, even awesomer. (is that a word?) By the way, does this hint that the name of your first ROM for the S9Plus is going to be FLASH? Another super hero to the rescue!
Is this a copy of flash kernel for the nexus phones. Did you ask nathan if you could use the same name??

Nope. Although he does a lot of things I would do.
The name isn't copyrighted LOL nobody needs to ask me permission. There's a Flash Kernel for the OnePlus 3/T that isn't affiliated with me.

All good nathan I was just asking a question, just in case . How's work with du going? Shame you stopped flash kernel angler builds. But I understand that it was just a terrible chip ?
I checked my developer options but I did not find OEM unlock as usual.
What to do ?

ElementalX is designed for maximum stability. It is made for people who depend on their phone every day.
Features:
-Easy installation with AROMA installer
-Overclock or underclock the CPU
-Performance and battery optimization
-improve multicore performance of big cluster
-Color control (RGB)
-Sweep2wake
-DoubleTap2Wake
-Sweep2sleep
-CFQ, noop, deadline, BFQ, FIOPS, SIO, maple and zen i/o schedulers
-Option to disable fsync
-Block wakelocks
-WireGuard support
-GPU voltage control
-LED fade control
-selinux enforcing
Installation
1. Flash in TWRP recovery or flash directly in EX Kernel Manager
Notes
EX Kernel Manager can be used to configure settings and update or install the kernel quickly and easily.
Knox status will be set to 0x1 by flashing this (but you probably already tripped it by installing TWRP). Tripping Knox means no Samsung Pay and Secure Folder. If these are important to you, then you can't mod your device.
Everything else works.
Some notes about settings
Sweep2wake/Doubletap2wake/Sweep2sleep: these can be set on the Gestures screen in EX Kernel Manager. I strongly recommend sweep up 2 wake over any other gestures. It is most reliable, less prone to accidental wakes and should not interfere with anything (i.e. phone calls). Wake gestures do not cause battery drain on this device.
CPU frequencies: Samsung has limited the big cluster frequencies when two or more cores are in use. The stock default is 2700MHz for one CPU, 2314MHz for two CPUs, and 1794MHz for three or four CPUs. If you choose the overclocking option during install, these frequencies are increased.
Overclocking: The overclocking option will run the big cluster up to 2886MHz and little to 2002MHz, plus it has an additional boost to multicore performance. You benchmarks will be way higher, unless thermal throttling kicks in. EX Kernel Manager will allow you to set the big cluster frequency properly and will show the actual max freq in most circumstances (sometimes it shows less when the big cluster is being throttled for thermal reasons). Don't use other kernel apps, they won't work properly. Don't complain about reboots if you choose this option.
Color control: I've added an override so that you can adjust red, green and blue by a much larger range than in Samsung's settings. The way this works is any adjustment in EX Kernel Manager will override the Samsung system settings. If you want to go back to using system settings, restore red, green and blue to defaults (255 each) and the system settings will take over again.
GPU frequencies: I have also updated EX Kernel Manager to allow adjustment of GPU frequencies on this device.
Blocking wakelocks: If you want to block wakelocks (and it looks like blocking some wifi wakelocks could improve battery life), go to the Miscellaneous screen in EX Kernel Manager and select block wakelocks. You will have the option of blocking any kernel wakelock on that screen, and it will show the time each has been active. I don't know what most of them do, so they might not all be safe to disable. Experiment and provide feedback here for other users.
selinux is enforcing!

some apps like Viper4Android only works with SELinux set to permissive or fake it to permissive.

No, just need to adjust sepolicy. There is a tool called sepolicy-inject (or grab the supolicy tool from Magisk or SuperSU) that can change policy on the fly.
thx for your work. for me it isn't working. I'm on s9+ dual sim. after flashing only bootloops

Wrong config option, I'm going to post an update shortly.
So, i am running 4.4.13-Oreo.N950X.INFINITY on a Note8 with the EX Kernel manager and i am getting "an update" as well.
Is it safe to flash this kernel on that ROM on the Note8?
Update!!
This should fix things for the S9+

Exactly my thought
Btw, any change you will be supporting the Note8? I've always loved the EX kernels on other phones

No chance, I already have too many devices to support. I mainly bought this one to test my apps.
If you install DevCheck from the Play Store, what does it say beside "Device" on the System tab?

I run a S9 port...so that is triggering this, i guess.
It is saying;
SM-G965F
star2ltexx
star2lte
bootloader; N950FXXU3CRC1
radio; N950FXXU3CRB9

Yeah...
Since Oreo isn't being used in a good custom ROM as of yet, i tried this port and it runs awesome.
Maybe write a disclaimer on this particular page? Or an info/warning message in the app as well?
