Does someone know for sure if 7 plus supports Aptx HD codec? GSMArena specs say that it does, but product's own specification page doesn't say anything about it. It's not listed in aptx.com as compatible device and I haven't seen any review mention it. I know that Google added support for Oreo, but do all devices support all added codecs? I suspect that my Moto Z that was recently upgraded to Oreo doesn't support aptx HD. My reason for looking new phone is really sub-par battery life of Moto Z and it's lagginess even after factory reset, which has to be related to it's software as my wife's Oneplus 3 with same chipset runs like a charm. And Aptx HD support is kind of a dealbreaker for me.
To answer my own question after I chatted with Nokia support, none of the Nokia phones up to date support aptx HD codec.
isn't it an idea too ROOT _ CUSTOMER RECOVERY > FLASH A ROM_ > GAPPS _.
if it s software related you might be able to access it with....
another software. GL on your travels
I have a Sony 1000XM2 with support for LDAC. This is also not supported by Nokia.
For aptx codecs I can understand it because Nokia need to pay royalties. For LDAC... it is in AOSP.

LDAC doenst work. Even if the options for aptx, aptxHD and LDAC are in de developer options.
How I did the configuration with Nexus 5X:
Connect 1000XM2 with NFC
Bluetooth options:
Phone calls
Media Audio
Contact Sharing
At this moment only SBC was supported. It showed "Streaming: SBC" in developer options. No matter if I selected "LDAC"
In Sony Headphones App, select "Priority on sound quality" instead of "Priority on stable connection".
Bluetooth options:
Phone calls
Media Audio
HD Audio: LDAC
Contact Sharing
After this moment, it showed "Steaming: LDAC" in developer options.
With the Nokia 7 Plus:
In bluetooth options "HD Audio: AAC" appears instead of LDAC after selection "priority on sound quality". Even if I select aptx, aptxHD or LDAC. It always stays on AAC.
Nokia's chat support told me that aptx, aptxHD and LDAC are not supported for the Nokia 7 Plus. It really is misleading because many site (bluetoothchecker, GSMArena etc) state that it does support these codecs.

I think the whole developer options are broken on this phone. No settings persist - OR they may but the UI doesnt maintain the selections. Oh dear.
Yes. You can enable it on the developer options.

I have some Sont MDR1-ABT which support LDAC. I selected it in the Developer Settings and I could hear "something" change. Same thing when I change LDAC quality settings. I am not saying it "works" but for as long as the Developer settings on this phone are utterly broken (dont seem to persist ANY setting that I can see?) its really hard to actually know... Or are there 3rd party apps which can verify the LDAC support?

Well considering it's only able to use AAC or SBC, I do find it to sound a bit worse on some tracks... It's not a massive difference and I don't really mind it that much but it's a shame to be losing quality when using high end headphones.

Isn't AAC or SBC is basically buffer size? What I wanted to know is the quality of raw sound output from the 7 plus compared to your other devices.

What do you mean? When listening over Bluetooth, you have to convert to one of the supported codecs unless, there's no "raw". The advantage of something like LDAC or AptX is that it's almost lossless so it doesn't really degrade the audio quality like the other codecs do.
If you're talking about using the audio jack, it's ok, I've heard better out of phones though...

Support for new media formats
The platform now offers built-in support for the VP8 open video compression format and the WebM open container format. The platform also adds support for AAC encoding and AMR wideband encoding (in software), so that applications can capture higher quality audio than narrowband.

Implementing wideband codecs in video capture would be very nice as the platform now allows it, because at the moment, captured audio in videos is simply very, very bad (8kHz narrowband AMR).
Any dev willing to explain how hard would it be to implement this? Thanks.

Can be done, but first we'll need to fix the video encoder framework problem currently found in gingerbread.
With the OTA ull have both AAC and amrwb encoding, no need to worry about that, just wait for the ota. i have seen the AOSP source for passion, there is implementation of all the new encoders

No passion has some proprietary libs including camera n omx libs. We also need a new radio to go along with the encoders

One and half month after SDK and waiting...
Well, the OTA is here and the camera still encodes audio in AMR.
Damn.
edit: well, I was wrong! I hadn't looked at the actual file with a computer: it now has AAC audio, 16k sampling rate, 96kbps mono. It also uses the back mic (i don't know if that was the case before)
A higher sample rate would be very nice, but ah well, at least it's something

It Works!!! absolutely brilliant app, being a hearing disabled person this application is a must for me. First I was skeptic how this can record calls when expensive call recording apps has failed for my mobile. I did tried free version and calls are recorded with excellent quality & immediately purchased pro version.
One request though, while playing recorded calls & if screen turns off the player stops. Can you please provide fix.

Is it possible on this phone?
im really pissed off that so far i can only do photos by remote
For a phone thats marketed for content creation thats not good, its videos i really care about
Any settings (developer options maybe), or apps, or equipment that can make this possible?
hope i can get least get a yes or no
Just realised that bluetooth remote video recording can be done on the manual video mode
Quality management is a hard job and not all bugs can be found from a single (or a few) developer(s) in a practical time. So I want to create a list of bugs we've found in our different provider and version dependent Android versions.
I start with my Sprint G8 Android system:
FW Version: G820d
Bug 1: APN settings are greyed out. Only with service code and ##data# changes in settings are possible.
Bug 2: Don't know how much LG is responsible for this, but in Netflix only DRM Widevine Level L3 is used for streaming. I don't care that much about resolution on a relative small smartphone display,
but at least HDR would be fine for better shades in dark movie scenes. So streaming in Netflix will only happen in SD quality.
Bug 3: DSD audio files will not be played anymore by the G8 natively. Found from the V50 friends in actual Android 10 update, and approved on my device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v50-thinq/how-to/broken-dsd-64-128-android-10-update-t4054655
The Bluetooth audio codec defaulting to ACC bug from 9 is still present in Tmo Android 10 update. Still defaults to ACC despite aptx and higher allowed to stream on headphones. _NOACC has no effect.

NOACC works on Sprint version since Android 10 update, but the max volume for my bluetooth earpiece is much lower than Android P.
I now use wired earpiece only. :\
Sprint
- Unable to access roaming settings
- Volume slider missing from notification area
- Can't hide nav bar in apps
- Comfort view won't auto engage at set time occasionally
- Playlists ignored by android, despite being in same place
- Choppy video recordings under extended + maximum mode. Also laggy viewfinder in both saving modes
- Roaming reduction battery drain (roaming was disabled before updating)
no duration for call log
No duration for a call in call log. This is major flaw.
My accessibility options crashes when I tap on it...
Oh and Kiwi browser crashes when going to Landscape.
On the T-Mobile be version when getting a pop-up in any browser (such as the page asking to share your location), there is no ability to tap "yes" or "no"." Pressing the back button is the only way out.

Hi,
i have buds pro and i love Dotos also.So can i use scalable codec when i'm on unofficial rom like Dotos?
There are some that are upscaling SBC for rooted users; that variant's bluetooth stability is another issue. The SSC is a very good bt codec.
Easiest solution is to use a rom that supports SCC natively.
