Hello,
I've been using the Nokia 7 plus for two days now and it's a great device which I'm really happy with.
I have this really annoying problem with my navigations bar home button, whenever I press it there are these red, gree, blue and yellow dots popping off and if I long press it it opens up the Google Assistant.
Is there a way to disable these features or at least remove the long press to open up Google Assistant?

Thank you it works!
And now after I disabled Google Assistant from my home button can I use it with voice commands again?

Unfortunely no. It needs to be your assist app for voice commands to work.

you can use a different launcher. In nova launcher you can disable the home button behavior and still keep the voice command.
I do not know how can you remove the animations with the dots, though.

Hello guys,
I think I have a problem with my P20 Pro, I'm not sure and I wanted to see if I'm the only one that has this behavior or is something normal. The problem that I have is that when I'm pressing the home button to return to my main screen, for a few second I can see the animation of the Google Assistant.
Has anyone saw this behavior?
It's normal, don't worry about it.

I basically have my home button not set for Google assistant, yet everytime I tap the home button to close out a screen I get that Google circles animation occuring, I didn't like this.
I managed to get rid of this behavior by re-enabling Google app as I had it disabled before.
It appears that disabling the Google app is what triggers the home button animations, regardless of having Google assistant off .

Since Android Pie now has navigation gestures, how do you activate Google Assistant? Previously it was hold on home button.
Middle swipe up and hold.

Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
I noticed this wont work on home screen if you got Samsung pay enabled to swipe from bottom. Then that will keep activating instead of Google assistance :/

Yup. It's an annoyance, but I like having Samsung Pay there too much to turn that option off. I usually just open the app drawer and swipe up from there for Google Assistant.
Samsung rolled out the update to natively remap Bixby's button. I cannot figure out how to get it open the Google Assistant as if I pressed and held the home button.
So far I've tried setting a tap of the Bixby button to :
Launch the Google app but that opens Google with the standard search bar focused for keyboard input.
Installed the Google Assistant app. The icon now shows on my launcher (Nova) but doesn't show in the app selection screen in the Bixby remap area.
Restarted my phone to try and get the Google Assistant icon to show up in the remap area.
I'm probably missing something real simple. Any ideas?

I'm trying to do the same thing. The assistant app does not show on the list of apps that can be hard with the Bixby button.
Maybe Samsung is blocking that app from being used.
This would be sweet, following.
There's an app bxactions it let me remap mine one click and Camera long press Google Ass, volume buttons to.
This is on oreo 8.1.0 se9.5 and you need to use adb for full options

It uses accessibility services which are known to add lag. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hOyBrZqy3N21uoy9nVmbK1i_zyPnIXbs/view You can use this google asssistant shortcut apk shared on reddit to toggle via built-in bixby settings.

Well that was timely! I read the first article about the feature before I posted. I thought maybe it was just my phone.

That's pretty crappy of Samsung -- They have to know Bixby sucks - they let you remap the button but cripple it so we cannot use it the way most would want to.

This worked perfectly. Thank you!!
Spoke too soon. It doesn't support "What's on my screen." So it's missing some sort of functionality somehow.

Yeah bxactions developer implemented it somehow. It is different when you say ok google and when you click its shortcut or widget. You probably dont have screenshot option either. With gestures swiping and holding home is simpler to me and I remapped my bixby key to gcam. Hope you find a workaround though
What I mean is say things like ok google to activate google assistant. Or press volume up/down/power to activate google assistant.
In European version it is by default, and also when you hold power button for 0,5sec.

Welp, I got china rom.
I have google assistant but holding power button does nothin.
thx for reply.
Try this:
Start the assistant (via app drawer),
tap on it to make it big,
click on the profile picture in the top right corner,
open Assistant tab,
scroll down and tap on your device ("Smartphone") and
activate Google Assistant and Voice Match.
Then it should listen to your voice, as long as the screen is on.

I have a CN ROM. You mentioned holding the power button for 0.5s to trigger something.
I remember that notification showing up on my phone when I first set it up.. and I dismissed it at the time..but now can't find out how to configure it again.
Where is the setting? I can't seem to find it again...

It's not there for me... Sad...
I don't know why. I've updated recently to the lastest 6.1 but it's CN.. that could be why...
Another user was commenting he can't see the app freeze in his menu.
I don't know why there are so many of these weird variations between the same phone...
I have the same problem
Is there a way how to replace CN Rom with EU Rom?
Is it possible to use Alexa on Google Assistant button? I've changed de default app for the assistant but it doesn't have an option for the voice inupt recognizer and when I press the Assistant button it asks me to change to the Google one.

In order to remap the assistant button I believe you need to root the device. Not sure about changing the assistant, though. I made my button a screen shot key.
Can you plz tell us how you remapped that button to take screenshot?

He posted it here, but it seems to be quite manual in method.
I was hoping there was a larger community for this device that would have figured out some sort of app to fix this button.
You could also try this, but I wasn't able to make it work.
I just get the screenshot that says
===
Set Google as the default assist app to access your AssistantYou've installed the Google app. To access the Google Assistant, you ened to set Google as the default assist app within Settings
Tap on the Settings button bellow
Tap on the assist app section
Tap on Google to set as default

This seems to happen no matter what app I try. Google Assistant just makes sure to stay on top, even if "disabled".
Not gonna lie, the Google Assistant app feels like cancer at the moment.
