This is a simple mod that overwrites the camera sound files with a silent file, and you can revert the original files easily. This was inspired by the v20 mod, but I'm using a smaller and shorter file with a cleaner install script, and also included additional v30 sound files (lens select sound, etc).
Flash it via TWRP to overwrite the files in /system/media/audio/ui. If you want the original sound files back, just flash the revert zip. See attached.

Thanks so much, I can confirm it works

You would need root permission to change manually. If you have root, then you probably have TWRP -- so just flash them in TWRP.
If you are asking is there some way to change them without root permission, the answer is no.
If you do not have root, there's a guide to unlock your bootloader, install TWRP and root. ALL V30/V30+/V30S can be bootloader unlocked and rooted.
Many Thanks. That's the answer I missed

RESTORE the TWRP backup you made before doing this. You do have a TWRP backup, right? If you don't, it's your fault.
If you didn't even bother to make a TWRP backup, then reflash stock firmware KDZ or flash a stock firmware ROM in TWRP.
I can't download both of these. It says error 410. Is there any other host?
Thank you
Here downloaded without problem, thanks for your work!

Yes, it's a V30 JOAN variant. All LG V30 "Joan" phones can be bootloader unlocked and rooted. See WTF thread.

Titanium Backup and root apps work with no problems here. Everything was done per this thread on a B&H V30S, including the files downloaded from links in the thread (unlock.bin, TWRP, Magisk, root check disabler and encryption disabler).
Stock Oreo 8.0 that came on the phone runs great with zero problems due to the OS, as far as I can tell, on T-Mobile.
This is a fantastic phone. Very fast, smooth, and clean, especially with all the junk cleared (ads cut out, bloatware frozen, Google search field removed, Nova Launcher goodness). Audio on the SoundMAGIC E80 headphones is superlative, their 64 Ohm impedance yields HIM with no need for impedance trickery or SW hack. Too bad a user has to go through so much with so many pitfalls to arrive at a good result like this, too bad LG will shut the door on BL with June OTA for folks not paying attention.
THANKS again to XDA community.

Yes, it can be installed over a cleanly wiped system partition. This is just the stock ROM that doesn't overwrite unlocked bootloaders when flashed.

Right so when I borked my previous rom (ooooops) without a backup, this will give me stock Amazon rom back.

Ok so it flashed fine and I noticed you already did otacerts.old in /system/etc/security and I don't see the dcp apk in /system/app, however it tried DL'ing an update right away.
How do you recommend stopping OTAs?

Is the 4.5.5 build far away? Might give it a crack over the weekend if it will be up.
Yes, the 4.5.5 is available here, already OTA blocked. I had to do a factory reset after flashing it (use ONLY the factory reset within TWRP, NOT the native factory reset) to get it to work, but after that, clear sailing, works great.
Ok, I'm a little confused about the process. My kindle fire is sitting at 4.5.4. I have refused to turn it on, because I don't want it to take 4.5.5. I want to re-establish root. I understand there is a downgrade process that allows you to move back to 4.5.2, then you can install root.
My question is, how do I unlock the boot loader at this point? Do I need to have an unlocked boot loader to install new images. I really want to be able to root and have the google play store installed, and not have all the bull**** errors like before with the playstore crashing.
Thanks to all you guys that have the answers and knowledge.

You can not unlock the bootloader on that device as it can not be rolled back to a version of FireOS (3.2.3.2 or below) containing the vulnerability that the unlock procedure exploits. The lowest you can go is 3.2.8. Any attempt to go further will result in a brick.
To get to 4.5.2 you rollback to 3.2.8 first using the procedure in this thread. Follow instructions precisely or you can damage/brick your device. Understand there are risks involved; this is not a task for the uninformed. There are no step-by-step guides or slick videos. Copious reading is your best friend along with the community servicing HDX forums.
Once on 3.2.8 you can upgrade to 4.5.2, block OTA, root, install Safestrap v4 and then Nexus v4 or cm11 both of which give full access to the Google Play Store. I strongly advise against attempting to install the play store under FireOS. Amazon and Google components do not play nice. Best use a different rom.
Do some reading and decide if you are up for the adventure. Ask questions before acting. Make sure you fully understand the relevant tasks, expected outcomes and things you should never do (like enable WiFi while on 3.2.8 - instant brick).
Edit: Fixed typos...

Search the HDX LineageOS 14.1 thread; many claim Viper4 is a better solution. Seems a bit complicated to obtain/install but that may be a faux impression. I am satisfied with Dolby but don't demand much from my device from an audio performance perspective.

Might reach out to those who have installed (and presumably customized) Viper4 for this device. They claim sound quality is equal to if not superior to stock FireOS v4 (4.4.x base). I did notice a mild degradation going from Fire Nexus KTU84Q (4.4.4) to Android 5+ but not enough to warrant additional actions beyond installation of Dolby for noise reduction (random pops during quiet passages) and extended volume range. The builds were heavily customized when development resources were heavily focused on ROM enrichment. Things are different now; you'll likely have to roll your own if you believe this issue is with core binaries. Third gen devices have been out of production for 2+ years.
You sure about that? Wikipedia page for the series is under the impression they're still producing and selling the 7 inch HDX (which never got a 4th gen release), at least for LTE users.

Need help, Rooted the phone, via twrp, but I wanted to revert back to stock recovery, I try to flash stock recovery with fastboot, then unroot the phone.
Then I try to go to recovery mode, and got to rescue mode.
Turn off phone, and reboot, and start just as I had it with my apps and everything.
But no stock recovery Need your help guys, what sould I do?
Edit: I managed to reinstall TWRP
In future updates, do I have to reinstall stock ? Or TWRP works like stock recovery for updates?
I erase some system apps google, hangouts, etc
Can I factory reset with TWRP, and configure the phone again, or do I need to flash firmware on stock recovery?
Is there a flashable zip for TWRP to downgrade or update firmware?

Here you can download stock files from the B20 and B27 firmwares for the A2017U (US variant), as well as TWRP backups. Included are:
TWRP system image (in its own folder)
unmodified byte-for-byte (DD) system image (system.img)
boot.img
recovery.img
aboot.img
bluetooth.bin
fbop.img
modem.bin
B20: https://mega.nz/#F!rcFCQZ7C!vn457hU1zDwc0uVpvm5otw (now includes stock image of B20 provided by ZTE for bootloader-unlocked users)
B27: https://mega.nz/#F!6YsTVZqC!7THrXFGOhIH_1eCgCnxqbA
NOTE: if you're currently on B20_Boot, it's highly recommended that you go back to B20 before attempting any sort of update from B20 to B27! Evidence suggests you may end up bricked if you don't!

I don't recommend unlocking the bootloader at this time since it breaks OTA. Once @tenfar gets his app to work with b20 locked we should be able to keep root after OTA eventually. Of course non of that matters once custom ROMs start coming.

Agreed.
I will say that a part of me thinks ZTE will release Nougat for the Axon 7 sooner than later. I don't have any hard evidence to support the idea, but some of the comments the mods have made over on the ZTE forums make me feel like there will be Nougat before there's another Marshmallow update for the US model. And I think they're going to try to get Nougat out ASAP (perhaps before the 2016 Nexus devices are announced).
It's all speculation, though.

Short answer : NOP ,
the Chinese variant have FULL FACTORY IMAGES so you really don't need any of this. (you guys are lucky in that dept.)
Theoretically, could someone update from B20 to B20_Boot, unlock the bootloader, and then reflash the B20 fastboot, boot, recovery, and system to go back to complete stock B20 with an unlocked bootloader? This might allow people to get back on the OTA path while still maintaining an unlocked bootloader.

Meaning if your default is Chinese you need to change it to English.

This is an unrooted 100% Stock J320AUCU3BQI5 firmware.
Working on all exynos j3 models!! (You first need root and to flash with flashfire)
AG models will probably need to enable oem unlock in dev options.

As I said no root, but you can always downgrade back to mm if you need root.
Btw the eng_ root kernel won't boot the system, but it will let you mount as RW and you can edit things thru adb... someone figure out root on this thing!

Hi, yes you have to root the phone following the method posted above. Then install flashfire and use it to flash the rom.
Have you do something similar already?
If you do not wish to root and your device is the A or AZ model you can update with Odin.
I fixed and uploaded the full firmware @Iurop provided. You can find that here
Finally got time to mess around with root...and unfortunately we do need a new eng_boot.
But fortunately, like I mentioned, we can still use our old eng_root boot to acquire a root shell.
Btw noticed this Rom does not update stock recovery. I'll package up a fix for it tomorrow, if anyone actually cares

To apply you must use your pc, use Odin to flash the included eng_root kernel. When it boots the logo will remain onscreen, after two minutes or so you can click the recovery.bat and let it do its thing.

Isn't eng_boot.tar just a boot.img? Could we extract build.prop from the Nougat ROM and the boot.img from the firmware to update the Root_J320A.zip in your root thread?

That method will work, we just can't boot while rooted with the stock boot. We need a permissive boot. if you edit that root like you mentioned, it'll only boot to the logo with a working shell. Su commands work there, so it will with with permissive.
Eng_root will do the same, boot to logo only with a rooted shell
Used Twrp to flash SuperSU installed Xposed framework installer and flashed the nougat sdk.
Modules are working
Zuper
Lucky patcher
Gravitybox

One tap video downloader
Few quick questions. Did you use the official Asus unlock app? Can you post a link to the twrp download?

You don't need trwp to install magisk. You can use magisk manager to patch the stock boot image, then adb push to install the patch boot image to your device. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do this here on XDA.

Yeah i know, but haven't try it myself and I usually use twrp to install it. That's why I lack the confidence to do so ?.
Have you tried rooting your zenfone 5q?

I have not yet, I'm waiting for an unlock method that is reversable, I have however used magisk to patch boot images on some of my other devices that don't have twrp available.

Which part makes you uncomfortable? Is it patching the image or using adb push?
But bro, feels like you posted in the wrong forum. This forum is for Zenfone 5 x86 A500CG/ A501CG.

Is there a dedicated forum for the 5q? I've looked on the app and haven't found one. I find threads for it in all kinds of places though.

Well yeah somehow, maybe you can make a request to the moderators? Or maybe use some kind of tag temporarily?

Soon after making my original post I downloaded the stock rom from the Asus support page the same place I got the bootloader unlock app from.
After flashing I got brave or stupid and found a site that had a TWRP for the zc600kl so i said what the hell and installed the TWRP idk if I can link it here but I'm sure they'll get rid of it if it isn't.

It turned out to be TWRP 3.2.3.0 and works perfectly. only issue I had was during the Magisk installation, twrp couldn't mount anything. turns out it was showing my internal storage as 0 but it was an extremely easy fix! all I had to do was just change the phones storage file system from it's original to another then immediately back to the original file system (can't remember specifics) within the twrp advanced menu I think, but it worked just fine and my internal storage read the correct size. Found fix on YouTube easily.
I installed magisk flawlessly then installed xposed seamless now have the best of both and everything is working great phone is stable no issues at all I'm very pleased,
Safety net check fails but IDC I don't need it.
Ridiculously easy root I love this phone ?? oh and now I have iOS 11 Emojis lol
Hope this helps all you Zenfone 5Q zc600kl owners out there.
If anyone wishes to know anything else PM me I'll try to help.

Same here, seems as though this twrp is for the X017DA which has a much larger size recovery compared to the regular X017D which has a stock recovery size and flash limit of 32mb. I tried for hours to get a ported twrp running on the X017D to no avail. Can someone help?

I just finished attempting to flash this recovery using my X017DA and I'm getting the file size too large error as well.
There are NUMEROUS people stating that they've rooted this phone and I'd SURE as hell love to know how.
I unlocked the bootloader at this point for nothing, and it's rather irritating.
It's bad enough I have spotty service on this phone because apparently, it doesn't support band 12 (which is crap) and ASUS refuses to cert it for VOLTE
I love the cameras, and functionality of this phone, and for the price the specs are GREAT, but this WILL be the last and only ASUS phone I'll purchase. Hell, I might even ban their computer components from my home after this fiasco.
Question!
Did you use the official Asus unlock app?
