Can anyone recommend a good camera app.. Focus problem - Nokia 8 Questions & Answers

Just picked up a Nokia 8, and while I am running camera v.8.1041.71, the quality is terrible.. Its that bad I thought there was a protection seal over the lenses...
After reading around, it seems that there was supposed to be a fix and update for the "Focus" problem, but mine looks bad, especially the "snowy noise" effect in low-light..
I do like the phone alot, especially the Pure Android with an SDCard.
I tried Open Camera, but that didnt help at all...
So, can anyone recommend a good camera app or an update to fix or help
Thanks all ..

Try this, personally i don't like it very much, but it have less "snowy noise"

Improve Camera quality?

So there are a lot of XDA Delevopers who tried to improve the camera quality of their phones ( f. e. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855818)
Can anybody improve our camera? Unfortunately I have to rework all my pictures, because the most of them are quite yellowish. I know there are more important things to do here, but maybe somebody has an idea or one of the others developers can help?

Would be great if someone improve Camera HAL... Be able to select Iso, Macro or Auto-Focus...
Try this

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.neilandtheresa.NewVignette&hl=de
I usually use this app:
Camera Zoom FX
Just tried vignette, and am kinda disappointed by UI, and quality also is not so much superior to the stock camera. In fact, I have some problems with focusing. There is only a tinny little bit of improvement, which does not push me to use this cam. Threw $2,5 in a bin...
Sorry for that.
Have you tried the code mod?

Can't you request the money back within 3 days if the app didn't work as expected?
patoberly: Don´t know man. I´m new to this, didn´t found any "refund" hints, and it will be three days tomorrow, so I won´t be in time with solving this. Found something, but it sais only refund up to 15 minutes after downloading. It´s more than one day today.
Sui77: You don´t have to sorry. It was my choice. I don´t have my phone rooted, and I don´t want to mess it again (even if I know programming). I´m tired of factory reset everytime some bad setting or badd app installed make problems. Did one reset today, SIM and WIFI loosing connection. After reset and installing just wanted apps everything is OK again. Am tired of this s.... Need clean fast, non problematic system. Have it today, won´t mess it anymore.
Ah sorry I was wrong with the 3 days. It's just 15 minutes, check: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/134336?hl=en

Yeah it used to be a decent time frame to try apps, then they shortened it to less time than it takes to install additional files for some bigger apps... basically a useless refund option now.
camera fv-5 gives pretty decent results compared to stock

I find using HDR on the stock camera has been the best. Even in low light it seems to do better than the flash. If there are any compatible ports I think the newer Lenovo Snap It camera app is the best I've used for a while

Do different camera apps help the mediocracy?

Ok, I'll admit it. I had high hopes. I loved my trusty Moto X like a apple phanboi loves Steve Jobs memes. It was the most usable and intuitive phone I've ever used. It was also just the right size. However. The camera ...ahmm...uhhmmm... Sucks. It's terrible and awful and slow. So when my trusty Moto X dove headfirst into the tile and said goodbye to life I decided that the only other option in the right weight class was the Z3c. PLUS, WHOOPPEE.. I'd get a jolly good camera upgrade out of the deal. Yay me!
Now after 2 weeks of trying to convince myself that the camera is great I have to tell the truth. It's mediocre. Or maybe I have a sliver of hope left... Maybe it's just a software problem. Maybe it can be resurrected by a really good aftermarket camera app. I've tried CameraZoom and it has some neat features and I "feel like" the shutter lag is a millisecond less... Maybe.
Has anyone found a zippy and fantastical camera app that will help me get over the feeling that I wasted 2 weeks on international shipping and $530 on a pretty decent 2012 phone?
Puhleeese?
Thanks!

Google camera? The hardware is brand new btw. It's just the camera that isn't completely up to date. But it still makes some great pictures I think. It's not the best camera on the market but when you use it in manual mode it can make some good pictures.

I have tried a few apps, but the particular flaws I find annoying (the sharpening and general over processing) are still there. However, the color balance seem better in some other apps, like google camera and snap camera, and possibly slightly sharper detail. But these are all subjective opinions, it's not like I have done a proper test in controlled conditions. Definitely worth checking out tho!
I'm hoping for the RAW capabilities in Android 5, and ensuing apps, to solve this problem.

Replace my iPhone 7 with this...?

Hi guys, I'm an owner of an iPhone 7 (second hand, but perfect) and a few months ago I had a Xperia X Compact (that I loved). I use both systems (iOS and Android) but I was thinking to come back to the little green robot. Do you think I'll lose so much in terms of video and pictures ? For the others specs I think it's a great phone, but I still have some doubts for the camera performances...
I hope in your point of view

The video camera is top notch and no sign of any distortion, aparently enabling steady shotseems to correct the image.
I think the problems with the stills camera are overblown, I've been taking lots of pictures since I received the phone and it's hardly noticable.
Given that it's an algorithum that fixes it, I am sure it's only a matter of time before Sony release a fix.
There are so many things that the phone does right. This is such a step forward fromm the X compact.

Thank you so much for your answer Didgesteve, I really appreciated that! One more question: what about the video quality in general? is it good? Especially for the Full HD (30 or 60 fps, I don't use 4k so much)...

Video quality is very good, better than the photo quality. The main ACTUAL problem with the camera is no OIS, so pictures can come out soft, especially in low light.
This may not compare well to your Iphone7 in many ways, but Android is a different animal, altogether. camera is not on par with Iphone7, but unless you are one of these camera snobs it isn't going to bother you much. Also, Android O has some bugs to be worked out, but nothing serious.

I see...no, I'm not so snob about it , I loved X Compact camera so much, and I found it much fun and interesting than the iPhone (in terms of software functions and possibilities), It's just curiosity because I read a lot of gripes about distortions, bad colours, and so on... I'm seriously thinking to give it a chance

colors do come out a bit red-ish in low light sometimes. you won't really notice the distortion unless taking a picture of a brick wall, checkerboard or something of the like.
if you liked the X compact that much, you will likely appreciate the XZ1 compact to a great degree. the camera is (arguably) the worst feature on the phone, and i still think it's a great camera. keeping in mind that it's not an s8 or iphone8, you'll have very little issues with XZ1C.
I bought a XZ1C for these reasons, (It will arrive this week)
1. Form factor - this phone is quite a bit smaller than the iPhone 7, and the 7 is already considered small. It is a tad bit bigger than the iPhone 5 (which had the best in hand feeling to me)
2. Battery life - Champion. I need a phone that will lasts all day and i've read nothign but amazing things
3. Android 8.0 - No other device than the Pixel 2 series has this update yet. Thats cool.
4. Camera Capabilities - It can do so much, including the 3D AR thing. Pretty fun, even if it isnt the best!
5. Headphone Jack - There is one, albeit the quality and loudness not the best, but it exists.
6. Memory card slot - Self explanatory.
FWIW, Sony have revealed that they have made a camera feature to fix or minimize the distortion on stills.
Refer to https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74266872&postcount=60 that post to see. If the camera was your only hesitation for the xz1c, this should alleviate a lot of that.
You can refer to Amazon and sell it off Đánh giá iPhone 7: Sức hút đến từ đâu?

Hiring a dev to fix my camera

Heya, so I'm looking to commission someone to fix my front camera's color tone. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software, but the issue exists even when using apps like Skype to make video calls.
The front camera is extremely pale and washed of color. I simply want to adjust it to be correct again.
If you know anything about this, or how I might go about fixing it, or know anyone who might be willing to help if I paid them, or just any leads in general, it would be very much appreciated!
PS: if you take a picture of your face with the front camera vs the back camera, is the front camera extremely pale on yours as well? wondering if it's just my phone being a defective unit or if everyone's is like this.
if you test it out and drop a comment letting my know if yours is like this as well, I'll definitely give you a "Thanks"
Thanks!

Camera quality is very disappointing. Doing smt wrong??

Bought this phone yesterday. I'm new to Samsung. I had seen and read a lot of reviews and articles, and all were very positive about the camera, but in my experience its very disappointing. Especially the front facing camera. It's always blurry, and what is up with all that smoothing out??? Even when it's off it just does the same. I haven't changed any special settings. After looking for a solution I see that I'm not the only one experiencing this. Is this just a question of taste, or is there really something "broken" at the moment with this camera?? I'm really considiring returning this phone. 1000€ and this is the picture quality I get?
I paid considerably less than 1000€ a week after launch, I think I'd return it if I paid that much. I've had some good photos from the camera and also less impressive ones, it seems Pro mode is the place to be.
Yes the selfie cam sucks. Too much post processing causing the smoothing effect. I'm not an Instagram model, I don't need to look airbrushed.
The rear shooters though can produce some really nice pics.
It's the software that causes issues. The hardware is solid.
The other option is to download GCam which uses Google's HDR Processing from the Pixel devices. It produces really nice photos. Some GCam builds have Night Sight working as well.
You might find this link useful for installing GCam, it seems to be a bit hit and miss, the camera works for a little while and then just force closes every time it's launched.

Welcome to the esteemed club of Note 9 owners! unfortunately a lot of us are already having this issue and understand exactly how you feel! there is a thread on here already about this: see below

and trust me its annoying having paid so much for this device and then get this rubbish picture quality!.... and I bet you any money Samsung folks read these forums so whether its a case of "cant be bothered" or "working on it", no one knows!
I hear the point about Gcam download as an option but I really feel I should not need to download additional software to make up for Samsung's lapses. We buy this device cos we love it and desperately want it to work, guess Samsung makes them only to get our money... not rocket science who the real losers are !

Tbh I also paid far less. But still, one expects to get a decent camera for this price and all that marketing jibberjabber. How come all big YouTube tech reviewers praise this camera ?! Money makes them dance

Now if these problems can be fixed with future updates that would be great, but is there communication from Samsung about this? And can this be fixed with (near) future updates.

The only likely upgrade would be Samsung's take on Night sight, I wouldn't expect any miracles.
Guys, hey, HW is solid as someone said, i also have some issues with cam quality, i thing that we must wait till we have pie update and then see what changes. Like im working with audio eq and for example player FIIOX5 III sounds quite bad at beggining, but later firmware updates makes it much better. So i thing - wait for software update and then decide to do something with it or ask for refound.

It's been hit and miss too for me, coming from a Pixel 2 XL.
Things are considerably better since I use the Arnova's Gcam port (better than my Pixel 2 XL in fact), and it made me realize Samsung's app/post-processing is the issue, not the Note 9 camera/sensor
Samsung needs to go back to the drawing board and do something about that agressive, over the top post-processing. Like I said, Gcam produces way better, more natural looking like pics, and most of all, they're not blurry (faster shutter time with Gcam maybe?)

More features like Advanced HDR+ and Night Sight are working for me with Arnova's builds vs the one you just posted.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/
Can you post some sample pics? This phone is consistently rated as one of the top cameras on the market and I have to say that I'm not disappointed. In good conditions it's hard to say that it's any worse than my DLSR with expensive lenses. Night shots are excellent too. If your rear camera is as bad as you claim, perhaps there is a hardware problem? The front camera does apply a lot of post processing (which I'm not a fan of either) but you can turn most of it off.
TLDR: either you have an actual hardware problem or insanely high expectations, the camera on this phone is just about the best on the market. When I say that it comes close to my DSLR, I'm not kidding.

That's the one you want: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk
If it force-closes on launch, that's because it was installed over an older version, just clear data + cache and relaunch, it will work

Use Pro mode if you want to be able to specify your shutter speed, I find the raw's are pretty good once they've had some basic touch-ups.
