X2 is not (and probably never will be) released in UK, so I bought one on Ebay from a supplier in China. Ad said "In English and Chinese" but I thought just choosing phone language should sort it.
BIG problems - phone is entirely localised for China. Can choose English as phone language (first menu at first power-up) but most of the apps are in Chinese only, including the Nokia Store. Nokia Store also only seems to browse a Chinese version, as most apps you would expect to find are not available. I managed to download an English copy of Nokia Store (App), but it won't install as it says "App with this name already exists" and the original (Chinese) version is not deletable.
Other huge problem is that Here Maps is missing altogether, there is some Chinese mapping app but it is nothing like Here (and entirely in Chinese). As you may know Here is not a downloadable App (or I haven't found it yet - maybe it is available via English Nokia Store but that won't install). Here Maps is one of the main reasons for buying a Nokia, so this is really annoying.
Any helpful thoughts would be welcome.

u can try Nokia Care Suite
and find what region u want from this link http://www.seidea.com/2014/07/19/software-update-for-nokia-x2-dual-sim-rm-1013-version-2-0-0-11/
to know how to use Nokia Care Suite u can find in Nokia X forum
good luck
I also imported my X2 from China, but removed all of the Chinese language apps (except Store, of course, since it can't be removed) and installed Google Play Store (and Google Maps). Now that I've poked about it with my X2 even further, getting around its simplistic interface -- by installing and customizing Apex Launcher and Widget Locker, for example -- I think this is quite likely the best phone I've ever owned.
Still, the lack of an English language Store does bug me. I'd at least like to check it out, even if there's nothing there worth downloading. Could you post the English Store installer for download? Perhaps it can be modified so as to allow installation on a device that already has a different version of Store installed. It's worth a shot, anyway.
Regardless, I hope you grow to love your X2 just as I have.
Software version is 2.1.0.11 (ie updated, not that it matters)
Product code currently is 059V789 Subvariant 2318 001
From Seidea then this is: 059V789: RM-1013 NDT CHINA CN
I presume I want 059V780: RM-1013 NDT EURO RU
Will read up on Care Suite on forum and post progress. Would be fantastic to sort this out!
Thanks, John
I do indeed like the phone, it is great (or would be in English!). I'll see if I can attach Store apk below. Just can't delete original (Chinese) version annoyingly...
John.
So downloaded Caresuite, running Data Package Browser but when I put in the Product Type (RM-1013) and Product Code (059-V780) it says "Unavailable". The image size is around 907MB.
When I blank the product code it suddenly finds it, but gives warnings:
Status: Files Missing
Firmware Files: 19.97MB (Local and Remote files missing)
So I don't think I would trust to attempt flashing this!
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, John.

Edit: Trying it again gives different results - see next post

update to last version of nokia care suit it will support Nokia X2
Indeed - IT HAS WORKED!!!! with 059V780: RM-1013 NDT EURO RU
I suspect I should have loaded 059V799 NDT EURO but that was not on Seidea. Version 780 works in English but when it asks you what country you are in only offers Russian ones (including Ukraine - very non-PC!).
However, everything looks good, Store works, Here works, so I'm very happy indeed...
John.
Nokia Store (and any update) & Nokia Safe Center are stored in:
/custom/syspreload/
I browsed to this folder with Root Browser, and deleted them. Then I could install the English language Nokia Store without problems, and it works fine on the original Chinese firmware. Hooray!!
Other preloaded apps are stored in:
/custom/preload/
Note that when you uninstall preloaded apps, they still remain in this folder. So if you want to remove them completely and free up space, delete them from here so they're gone forever.
Exploring the /custom/ folder you can also delete preloaded wallpapers.
I guess this is of little to no help to you now, JohnWard42, but I thought I'd pass it along anyway.
So I've read and seen various reports, including Samsung is allowing you to delete, which from what I've gathered, that didn't actually end up being true.
I'm on a Nexus 6 now, and considering getting an S6 or an S6E as I really don't care for the size of the Nexus. But how much bloatware is there on the phone? The AT&T phone had virtually none, and the rep ensured me that's the configuration of the phone when you buy it. Clearly, I've read differently. So as owners, how much bloatware is really on the phone?
Enough to spend a few minutes disabling it all. Probably 15-20 apps.
It's still pretty bad
I went from an S4 to the S6. The BW on the 4 was terrible and although the S6 is better it's still a lot for techies like us who don't want carriers/manufacturers trying to give us what they think we want.
I got the 64GB version and I am one who doesn't want anything taking up space that I didn't specifically ask for so I'll be checking the Original development forum regularly.

I have 43 apps disabled on mine but not all of them are AT&T bloat.
DISABLED APPS
- AT&T FamilyMap
- AT&T Hot Spots
- AT&T Live
- AT&T Locker
- AT&T Mail
- AT&T Mobile Locate
- AT&T Mobile Transfer
- AT&T Navigator
- Briefing
- Caller Name ID (AT&T)
- ChocoEUKor
- CoolEUKor
- Device Help
- Digital Life
- DriveMode
- Google Play Games
- Google Play Movies & TV
- Google Play Newsstand
- Hancom Office 2014
- Instagram
- Keeper
- Lookout
- Memo
- Messages
- Messages Backup & Sync
- Milk
- Milk Video
- Mobile TV
- OneNote

- S Voice
- Samsung Print Service Plugin
- Skype
- Smart Limits
- Smart Remote
- Swype
- Theme Store
- Uber
- Visual Voicemail (AT&T)
- Voice Wake-up
- YP
So 10 AT&T apps disabled... there's really not a lot of "bloat" IMO. Most of the Samsung and other independent apps I disabled won't affect battery or performance either. I just disabled them out of habit.
AT&T apps I could not disable:
- AT&T Remote Support
- AT&T Software Update

Not all of us consider some of those apps bloat, there are a couple on there that are actually useful and some that you actually need if you want to perform certain tasks.
The following I don't consider bloat because I use them:
- Google Play Games
- Google Play Movies & TV
- Google Play Newsstand
- Instagram
- Messages (Guessing you are using a different app for messaging)
- Samsung Print Service Plugin
- Skype
- Smart Remote
- Visual Voicemail

Correct. I didn't call them bloat though But I did update my reply.
I don't personally use the ones you listed and I use Hangouts in place of Messages and Visual Voicemail. Smart Remote is pretty lame IMO and much prefer Smart IR Remote - AnyMote. But to be fair, none of these apps need to be disabled at all, not even the AT&T ones.
When I got my s6 32gb, it had right over 24gb left with basically no space that can be recovered. So there is a significant amount of bloatware... Disabling several apps helped a bit with ram but there is still a lot running in the background.
Xeni, just because you use the bloatware does not mean its not bloatware. If its not installed on vanilla version of Lollipop... Not required to allow hardware to work... And you cant delete it... Its bloatware.
I don't think anything available in the Play Store or Samsung's app store should be pre-installed, period. Unless you can "uninstall" it completely. This includes AOSP.
Like i said, some of us don't consider some of these apps bloat because we would install them anyway.

So please correct me if I am wrong, disabling the apps frees no space on the
phone? If disabled are some of them still running services in the back round?
I am on the fence about International or ATT S6. The International seems NOT to
have all the LTE bands that the ATT version has.

Disabling the app doesn't give back any space since these protected apps run in the system partition which is a separate partition from your regular partition where all of your apps/pictures/videos/etc are stored. If you disable the app it doesn't consume any CPU or Memory since it can't run or launch.

"Disabling" does not... however when I disable apps I generally clear their app data as well and that is what frees up some space. But it's not really that much. With all my listed apps disabled and app data cleared I'm sitting at 21.74GB of free space. When you're talking about ~20GB of available storage, that 1 extra GB isn't going to mean much... if it is, then the 64GB model should have been considered instead. I suppose it's pretty relative but I'm personally not going to complain about ~1GB of (what some might refer to as) bloat.
EDIT: I should also mention that I have a lot of other apps installed taking up quite a bit of space. The 1GB increase I saw might be completely different for someone else as some of those disabled apps I had loaded and played around with, thus accumulating more app data and cache.
so i ordered one of these. love cameras and this seems to be a great pocket camera/smartphone. since it isn’t a usa destined product, does anyone with experience know what i’m in for? my questions are setup, will google apps be preinstalled, like the play store and google photos? will i get security updates?

Well vivo, from which place are you buying it from?
Ive seen the phone before, if its from India then it would have google apps etc.
And you would get security updates and you would have google photos.
In my mind, only China imported phones don't have google services sometimes.

Yeah china banned google atuff with google play so your best bet is to wait till uou recieve it and flash the global rom or you should cancel and choose smth else.

Can you explain how to install funtouch os firmware?
Hi,
I've got the chinese version too, and I'm based in Switzerland.
Actually, it's working good, but not perfect. Some things are missing or not working perfectly and some things are hard coded chinese. But as a daily driver for taking perfect photos, calling/messaging its "working".
Some points:
- Google (Play) Services preinstalled, can be loaded through the vivo app store when installing gmail app
- Backup/Syncing working, but the initial restore from an old phone is not offered through google initial setup
- google photos, maps and so on are working, only location history can't be enabled.
- Regular OriginOS updates
- some chinese default bloatware preinstalled, some can be uninstalled
- no google now, just a chinese vivo version
- android auto doesn't work atm
- some fine tuning necessary with default apps, and so on
- google pay, banking apps working
Over all, it's working for me, but i'm missing some tiny bits, which a global rom could fix. But in comparison what you get (camera, performance, display, price...), it's a aceptable device for me.
If you need specific infos, just leave me a note.
If there's a global rom, i would be interessfed too.

You won't regret it. This phone just captures perfect photos. Even in comparisson to the samsung s21 ultra. My opinion (and my wife with a s21 ultra).
Some things are annyoing but i can live with it. I mean, I can even do phone calls
Just a night shot from now 2 a.m. - it's dark outside and this camera manages to capture photos like its late afternoon...

Oh google play services are preinstalled?
That's actually new to me.
Sorry, I guess I was kind of misleading with google being removed. It was banned in china but I did not know that google play services still worked.
I received it on Friday. Chinese version definitely. But Google Play Store already installed. I downloaded all the normal Google apps like Android Messages, Chrome, Contacts & Calendar and they all seem to be perfect. Thinking now, I didn’t download Maps yet. There was an originOS update available and a couple of apps had their own also, like I believe the Camera app. So I'm relieved that updates do come through.
First impressions are positive. It is sleek. Kind of nice how it comes with a screen protector pre installed and it comes with a pretty nice back cover.
I "had to have" this because like I said I love taking photos. Just for reference I have a Sony Xperia 1 ii (for sale on ebay), a Galaxy S21 Ultra (going back to Amazon) and a 12 Pro Max. I shot a lot of photos today with the X60 Pro+. They are all nice. A couple though came out tremendously well. I think to get similar photos I would have had to get my Sony a7C or Sigma fp with a fast 85mm to get the same shot. I for sure would not have gotten the same quality from my other smartphones.
Anyways I don’t think I will try to get the global software on this. Seems like I'll be good.

Hi from Austria perfect Summary i totally agree with you, i am happy with the China version, for that price ~ 750€ you will get nice hardware, OriginOS is also nice, i like the gesture navigation, but im missing google maps location history so much, there is some restriction on China for google services, because china dont want to be tracked by usa google... other brands from china have same issue with location history.
I found in this thread with some fix for rooted phones to enable ROM to use location history:
Ennable Google Maps Location Sharing & Location History on Chinese MIUI ROM
You need Magisk properly installed on your ROM and then download & install the following modules:

[Magisk module] Google location history unlock for Chinese MIUI roms only
Hi, posting my Magisk mod that I am using since couple of years. This mod works and testen on K20 pro, Note 7 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom Edition. What does it do? It enabled Google location History in Google maps. This is only needed for Chinese roms...

maybe @Kenora_I can help us to flash Global Rom from India... hopefully without brickung our phones
@Kenora_I is it possible to flash Global Rom with banking apps working to pay with nfc ?

Hello Everyone.
I am about to buy this phone but still having some doubts because of the OriginOS. I live in New Zealand. Just would like to ask a couple of questions:
- does it allow to install and use Nova Launcher with gestures?
- is this notification bar and settings bar changeable or at least can set up some gestures for that? Otherwise it requires to touch the top edge of the phone which is not perfect for me
- notifications are visible in Always on Display from FB, whats up, non stock phone or messages apps or not at all?
- does anyone use that with company portal and MS Authenticator? and its working fine?
- how is the battery life - roughly SOT?
I will be really grateful for any help!
Thank you!

Since nobody wants to answer, I will, but I don't use X60 pro+. I have IQOO and had x50 pro+ and therefore the answer can't fail a lot.
1. I didn't try Nova, but I installed Star Prime and it works with gestures as long as you don't uninstall original launcher.
2. Not that I'm aware of.
3. Don't use unsecure apps, but the custom dialer and messages are supported on AOD.
4. Don't use work portal, but there is no reason to not work.
5. Battery is good, one day with heavy use, two with moderate.
