Hmmm?why can't you flash system image? If you can get to fastboot, all hope isn't lost. Should be able to flash if your bootloader is unlocked, if not you can flash OTA. As long as your adb tools are up-to-date....that might be the problem. M

TWRP v3.0.3 BLU VIVO XL

(I'm not permitted to post in the developers forum, i.e. roms, kernels, recoveries, etc., so I'm posting this here).
My original post can be found here in the Blu Development Group on Google+. (Forgive me if this is considered redundant):

TWRP v3.0.3 BLU VIVO XL V0030UU - MT6753 for Android 6.0 (kernel 3.18.19) by lopestom
(And TWRP v3.0.2-1 Materialized)
Special thanks for +lopestom for compiling these custom recoveries and for all his instruction and help.
Instructions for minimal ADB installaion:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Instructions for TWRP boot load:
- Turn on developer options
- Turn on USB debugging
- Turn on OEM unlocking in developer options. Using fastboot oem unlock doesn't matter, I believe, but I did it anyway. It doesn't cause a boot loop on Android 6.0, but using fastboot oem unlock on my android 5.1 version did cause a boot loop for me.
- ADB reboot bootloader
- Fastboot boot <twrp_recovery_file.img>
- Wait about 1-2 minutes
THIS IS IMPORTANT. I had no luck flashing the twrp recoveries using the conventional means of either SP flash tool or Fastboot flash of the recovery. The device would always boot loop at least once and revert back to the stock recovery. However, I did have success using "fastboot boot recovery recovery.img" in the bootloader. TWRP would take a while to load, but it did. This was the first TWRP recovery I personally was able to load on Android 6.0 of the Blu Vivo XL. If you are successful in permanently flashing the TWRP, please share your method

You can try both of the above. I was able to successfully root the device using v3.0.3, but both would load.
The prior STOCK ROMs (Android 5.1 V07 and Android 5.1 V10) for Blu Vivo XL are on the repository by +William Smith. Please note that no stock rom for the Blu Vivo XL on Android 6.0 has been released by Blu. You must upgrade to Android 6.0 through the OTA update.
I used this to root (not sure who to credit, my apologies):

Shoot, I meant to post this in the guides section. Newbie mistake. Are there any moderators that can move this thread? Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know. Do you currently have another custom recovery on there?
It's important to wait for it to load for about 1 to 3 minutes. Or did the phone go back to system booting on its own? During that time the "screen" may go into sleep mode. Just tap power button to wake it up and see if TWRP is there. Also, is your bootloader unlocked? I believe that may be required on the Gionee elife S Plus, where you actually have to go through the process of "fastboot oem unlock", and let it reboot. BEWARE: this will wipe your device.
In any case, I didn't test this recovery on the Gionee elife S Plus, as I don't have that device. Although they're the same phone, maybe there are slight differences in the booting process?
Likewise, for instance, this TWRP from Hovatec below for the Gionee e life S plus didn't work on my Blu VIVO XL. I believe others may have had luck booting to recovery using it on the VIVO XL, however. Not positive. But for me, I had no luck.
https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-15270.html
I read somewhere the Gionee S Plus has Android 6.0.1. Is that correct? The VIVO XL still has Android 6.0 (same kernel), but I'm not sure that would make a difference.
can you provide me a TUT on how to replace the recovery using ADB just the way you flashed Your Phone.. Please
Same as the 3rd floor. Black screen and then bootloop

Can anyone confirm this? There's a new OTA update available for mi max 2 but I'm not updating coz I'm waiting for 72 hours to complete so I can unlock bootloader. I'm kinda worried that if I update my device to miui 9.2 I might have problem unlocking my bootloader. So I'm thinking to unlock my bootloader first & then update my device thru OTA update.
I've got them but don't launch the upgrade because, if I do that, it remove my twrp by re-flashing xioami stock recovery.
I've got a global beta rom, bootloader unlocked, twrp installed and rom rooted.

oh wow, so even with all that ota updates are possible, good to know
flashing twrp isnt a big deal though, just boot into fastboot, connect to pc and input a command, thats it not like u need hours of work to get it done
would be interesting to know if the rom gets unrooted on update.

I received a phone with an unlocked bootloader. It just received V9.0.3.0.NDDMIEI
I don't know if it's just the China model reflashed with the English ROM or what, but it's definitely got an unlocked bootloader and I'm not sure why.

Am I correct in thinking that the update would have reflashed the recovery area and eliminated anything that didn't belong? I put TWRP on it and I'm going to load a stock ROM through TWRP.
I'm wondering whether I've gotten ahead of myself and I should have gone Stock ROM-->TWRP-->Stock ROM with root.
I'm also not sure if the rooted stock ROM will allow me to enable LTE bands just by changing NVRAM settings in QPST. Does anyone know if the bands are blocked in MIUI as well?
I run unlocked boot loader, global stable and Magisk.
Every OTA, I gotta reflash TWRP, and reinstall Magisk, but yeah, I can OTA.

How do you install OTA? from the updater app in the device OR full Rom in twrp?
I just use the updater app, it reboots, and then proceeds to flash and remove TWRP and Magisk.
The only time that I've used TWRP is to flash Magisk.
Just I want. I only need TWRP to flash Magisk to enable use of Titanium Backup Pro and any adsblocker.
So Flashing TWRP via fastboot, then using TWRP flash Magisk. Use mobile as usually and when i update via OTA, reflash TWRP and Magisk, true?
EDIT: After flashing Magisk, flash stock recovery via fastboot so mobile is ready to OTA update. Right?

Yeah, just choose to download the full rom press reboot and it'll upgrade, then flash TWRP and Magisk again.

so you are saying ota update through updater app is not working?
do i need mi app on pc to update, that too after downloading the full rom for every update?
status: bl UNLOCKED ,root-NO
I dont think so, if you allow replacement of twrp by stock recovery after magisk flashing i think it should be possible install ota using update app. When its done, then reflash twrp and magisk from it.

I have redmi note 11 pro (china) which it's bootloader unlocked and installed global miui rom cause with stock recovery and not rooted so will I receive OTA updates?
And is there anything I should do specifically for this case while updating the phone

Root MI 8 in MIUI keeping OTA updates

Is it possible to root MI 8 in MIUI keeping OTA updates with Magisk?
And keeping bootloader locked? (I guess the answer for this is no right now, since there is no bug found already)
I've found this guide for Note 4 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/guide-root-using-magisk-stock-recovery-t3718203) which, in a unlocked bootloader phone can root keeping OTA updates. It keeps the original recovery to achieve it.
Has anyone done something like it in the MI 8?
enable dm verity and everytime your phone boot it will replace recovery with original recovery, then ota updates will work. But everytime u update via ota, boot gets rewritten and your magisk will not survive. u have to fastboot flash via pc recovery rom then flash magisk again. U cant root a phone and keep bootloader locked, it doesnt work that way i dont think. Magisk modifys boot partition and relocking it will either softbrick or just not lock. Correct me if i am wrong

Can't update to 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 (Android Q)

Hello,
I am on MIUI 10.3.5 (PFKINXM - Android version 9 PKQ1.181121.001) and it is showing no updates. When I click on "download latest package", it says "Can't download, wait 1 - 2 mins and retry". I downloaded 10.4.8 package manually and choose update package. This gives me a message saying "this rom is in beta testing, are you sure you have a beta account linked". Bought 2 days back from flipkart.
How do I update it to android 10?
I have faced the same issue but now I have updated to 4.8 after unlocking
u have 2 options wait for miui 11 or to unlock your bootloader and flash the latest update which will erase all your data
even if you choose to unlock booloader and updating from custom recovery you will face an issue which says
'this is for raphelin., your device is raphel' error 7 in TWRP
to solve it you need to edit the update_script file
do note that this process is quite tricky and you can brick your device or else your device may stuck in bootloops

Thank you very much for your reply. So I am not alone with this kind of issue.
Will wait for my 168 hours to complete before I can unlock the bootloader. Then will update it , keeping in mind your advice.
Thanks again

Locking the Bootloader

Hello everyone,
as many of you, I also want to lock my bootloader after finding that my X2 Pro bought used few days ago was unlocked and with TWRP installed.
It was stuck to Color OS 6 with security patch updated at february and it had installed Magisk.
I tried to flash Realme UI but I couldn't because it had installed official TWRP and not the right one.
I formatted everything and after some hours of research and trials I managed to install Realme UI with security patches updated (october).
Now, I don't have TWRP but official recovery instead. No signs of Magisk and any other data because I formatted everything few time during my flashing trials.
I don't have fingerprint and face recognition, I think due to the fact the bootloader is unlock, yet.
To overcome this, I found a video-guide used for X2 (not Pro) in which I saw that after flashing the Realme UI, rebooting recovery and formatting data, those sensors worked again but with X2 Pro this procedure won't work.
To recap: I have official firmware and recovery, no fingerprint and face recognition. I think that I can use the official guide for locking the bootloader again as the app says that I can roll-out from the in-depth program.
Was someone in my situation? I mean, locking the bootloader with FP and FU disabled before relocking?
I ask this because I found a thread in which the user said that it was necessary to make FU and FP work again before locking the bootloader.
I had this phone for less than a week and I can't take a decision.
Thank to anyone in advance.
you must now download the FASTBOOT format of Android9 pie rom (6gb) and use REALME FLASHER which will
1. place original recovery
2. flash all partitions and downgrade your device to android pie (Color OS 6.1)
reboot
test you onscreen fb and other sensors while on setup ( IT SHOULD WORK) because you are on stock recovery! and vbmeta.img is untouched
now install DEEP testing and wait, it will check your device (use 4g data sim / NOT WIFI)
click end deep testing!
this will RELOCK your bootloader, (while you are on Original recovery ) and wipe all the data!
now your device is locked again!,
download ROM (recovery rom) from realme site, for latest REALME UI ( this file will be OPPO encrypted 3gb of .0zip) but since you are on stock recovery, you can use it to flash it.
reboot again to the NEWEST Realme ui and check the fingerprint sensor
now install DEEP TESTING APK again and try unlocking the BOOTLOADER, once unlocked the the DATA will be WIPED AGAIN
now you are on REALME UI (latest), stock recovery, no partitions altered and you will be taken to SETUP again,
your FB should work!
join this text and see the guide (xda keep sensoring it so i had to break it)

OMG tahnk you so much for your help.
I didn't receive any notification of your reply so I couldn't answer you before.
Before reading your reply I successfully locked the bootloader with REALME UI on it but FP and FU doesn't work.
I thought that it may be caused by the fact that bootloader was unlocked with Colors OS 6.1 (Android 9) and then I relocked it with Realme UI 1.0 (Android 10).
For this operation I used the official tool usable only with Android 10.
Do you think I should unlock the bootloader again, downgrade to Color OS 6.1, lock the bootloader and only then update my device to Realme UI?
If so, how can I downgrade the Android version? With their flashing tool it can't be done.
Hope you well and thank you in advance for your help.
Dude try this,
Download Realme flash tools here from my Google Drive:
realme_Flash_Tool_V2.zip
drive.google.com
Now download OFP file to use with the flash tool here:
OFP files
https://www.droidwin.com/flash-ofp-realme-flash-tool/
docs.google.com
Boot into bootloader and flash it. See if it helps.
