I'm not finding any solid evidence that shows there is or isn't a version that is compatible with CDMA networks. The official nubia site doesn't even give any kind of specs on the phone other than color/rom/ram.
If I get one and it's not compatible on CDMA network, is it an issue of software where I could flash something to have it work or is it a hardware issue?

Select USA and see which carriers it works with since I only know of the US still using CDMA technology.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think my Diamond (bought from Hong Kong) support USA GSM network. Please see the attached picture, it shows UMTS8500+1900 + GSM850+1900 as an option in the phone setting manual.
I made this post because I saw many people complain that the first batch of Diamond doesn't support USA GSM bands but only the Asia and Euro one.
Can u check al lines, mines is:
UMTS(900+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900)
UMTS(800+2100)
UMTS(850+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(1700)

It may support those bands but it wont actually get you 3G access in America because the non American Diamonds are missing the 3G attenna. Its not a software problem but a hardware problem.
If you want to use 3G in America then wait till the American version of the Diamond is out.
the bands being able to be selected means that the RIL (radio interface layer) CAN support those bands, that DOES NOT MEAN that your Phone Hardware can support it.
The software interface is probably not smart enough to adjust itself to match hardware.
The HK Diamond hardware spec said it is a triband GSM phone. It does not have GSM850. I'm not sure if this is just a marketing / sales spec.
Anyone tested this in the US? Or any hardware/radio engineer on this forum to validate this spec?

Well the HK Diamond Spec is incorrect, it "could" be quoting the US specs but the US version isnt out for another month at least.

This has been discussed so many times now
I have myself written about 3 times why techincally it won't work. Search for my posts, because i really dont have the energy to type it agian!

I though this would be a good place to post this question.
I have the same bands listed as post # 2. Now my phone came out of the box like it is. No radio or rom upgrades, yet. Does that mean its Quad band unlocked already from the box? Or do I still have to load the latest radio?
Hard to say without knowing wich radio you have.

My radio is 1.00.25.03, so I would assume it's not quad band without putting one of the newer radios?

when i got my TD, it was listed a triband. I could still use in the USA because
ATT uses 900 band also. However, their primary band is 850. THe reception with the 900 only band was spotty. I then flashed my ROM (see below) and a new radio.....05 and immediately got 4 bars where i got 1 or none. MUch improvement. However, you will NOT get 3G until you get a USA phone. It uses Edge now, (which for me is fast enough). ITs a hardware think not a ROM or radio upgrade thing to get 3G.
BTW this is my current ROM and i am very happy with my TD now. Best phone ive ever had.

Is there a difference between the european 3g and the american? I haven't tried my diamond in the states but I use 3g/turbo3g here in europe...

I saw your auction. Sorry, but I can't believe you're getting 3G on that phone without at least ONE bar showing in the pic!!
If the european version is missing the antenae then if he was in an area with strong enough signal wouldn't it show the 3G icon and maybe even only one bar, but that is not usable.

The 3G has nothing to do with the bars.. it says 3g next to the bars if you have it.. (at the same place as the active sync icon is) I haven't seen the picture though so I'm not going to say anything..

So that makes me wonder why you haven't dumped the radio off the phone and let other people test it out. If in fact it is just a DIAM100 model with a modified radio to unlock the 850 gsm band.

The hardware he has is the DIAM160, not the DIAM100.
Is the lack of ability to support the US AT&T 3G frequencies a ROM issue or a hardware issue?
I really don't know. From reading it is a hardware issue....but.... if it's like the TP2 and you go to where you can select which bands to use the AT&T bands are listed.

The AT&T bands are not listed as being supported. I was hoping it was a ROM issue so that a radio ROM could fix the issue. It looks as if that is not the case. Makes no sense to me why HTC would want two different GSM based hardware platforms to support.
They did it with the first TP though. The European TP has no US 3g bands

I did not realize that because I am still using the Kaiser. There must be some good reason they chose to do this, but it escapes me. Anyway, unless there is a possibility for a ROM enablement, and it appears there is not, there is no need to continue this thread. Too bad! Thank you all for your responses.

It is not listed on the site but is listed in the phone itself. If I understand right the reason that it does not support tri or quad band 3G is that the processor is built with only specific bands. When the tecnology is there to squeeze more bands in with it then we will get what we want.
Or something like that.
If I were to get the VZW Nexus One, would I be able to flash any ROMs for the T-Mo Nexus One? Themes, apps, ROMs, etc.?

I'm sure there will be a fairly standard process to port these ROMs to the VZW N1... but then again, I'm not a dev.

Without looking at the android source tree. I would assume that calling the radio interface is the same between devices. The radio image itself will be drastically different, but the OS itself will not see that complexity due to calling the radio through standard API's.
Think of it this way, when you call a friend through a landline using a regular phone. Does your regular phone care who your provider is? It just translates your button pushes to sounds and transmits it via a well established standard. The interaction between rom's and the radio are more than likely very similar.

Considering that this will be the newest CDMA Android device released in the US, I'd guess that it's going to have the most updated radio out (at least for a while). The SPL, Recovery and such should be pretty much identical I would think. While it may not be possible to just take Cyanogen's ROM and flash it as it currently exists, the necessary changes SHOULD be pretty minor.
The better question is this...
how many people are going to not pay attention when a new radio image is released and flash it to the wrong device

I believe the droid just recently got their cyanogen mod port after like 8 months of release.

I used a Rogers Magic for a long time. Each time Cyanogen released an update, there were 2-3 devs that patched it and ported to the Magic for Rogers and also for the MyTouch. Each phone required different things but there will be devs that will handle it on here, just about guaranteed.
As long as I can have the ROM fast, I'll get the Nexus.

Rogers is GSM though, not CDMA.

The Droid and Nexus One are totally different devices. The UMTS and CDMA Nexus One should be identical save for the radio and associated hardware.
EDIT: Not quite. The UMTS model uses the QSD8250 Snapdragon, which only supports GSM/UMTS. The CDMA model will likely use the QSD8650, which also has CDMA support (in addition to GSM/UMTS, which adds the possibility of the CDMA model being a world phone) but is otherwise the same.
I mean, they are basically the same phone.
So, are we saying that it is undecided if all the ROMs will work or not? Or do we know that they won't/will?

I have heard mixed opinions on this matter and I am very curious to hear from someone who knows for certain the process that needs to take place for CM to run on the VZW N1 when it is available.
Funny that nobody mentions the kernel, which could very well be different for the GSM N1 and the CDMA N1. The radio is the obvious factor, it is the other factors that may be the issue.
Hoping a knowledgeable dev will chime in with a solid answer!
As my trusty ATT N1 soldiers on, I'm considering whether to jump to a new carrier in the near future so that I can stay current with upcoming Google Developer Phones. I would appreciate some feedback regarding the assumption that since the G1, Sapphire, and N1 were TMobile compliant, we can expect that the next Google Dev Phone might be exclusively flavored TMobile. We can assume sense they had a close relationship with Danger and now Google that they will stick with the same bands for Developer Phones. Just like we can only assume Google will stick with HTC for official Developer Phone hardware.

well history is all we have to go on.
one of the main reasons why T-mobile 3G bands have been used on the dev phones so far is because its the most compatible worldwide (ie works with the most carriers in the world, you can use them in the US, Canada and in Europe)
considering this its pretty likely to continue to stay this way. ATT 3G band is no where near as widely used and CDMA phones must be carrier specific (well they don't have to be really hardware wise but the way they work vs GSM phones its extremely dependant on the provider allowing you to use a phone that is not theirs on their network, it can be done but its a real pain to get them to do it)

Hello everyone,
I want to to know exactly how I can implement this to my HTC one however what I've been told is that what ever Sprint devices they have sold will not able to work on this new upgrade.
I've been chatting back and fourth with an employee and he says it's a gsm based 4g LTE that's works on hspa or something that uses 1900mhz bandwidth. With that said will I be able to go ahead and convert to what my carrier uses?
Another note, I've successfully SIM unlocked but haven't had a SIM to try it out if it is unlocked, in doing the unlock will I be able to utilize this update to my carriers data speeds? All the employee said as of right now Sprint branded devices are not able to be used with the upgraded network and it uses a gsm based 4g that uses 1900mhz bands. Quite a few people are pissed about this but their normal users and do not know about root and everything associated with it, to include SIM unlocking.
Another thing the employee mentioned was they are now selling HTC one m7 and m8 that are able to utilize the network, he says they are "generic" and Verizon, what I'm thinking that they are just global versions of the device, so who ever got Sprint branded phones are screwed cause they can't upgrade to the new network.
I am hoping I can use this new found boost in data speeds locally!!

County? City? State? You provided no information here. Also from the sounds of it NO you can not convert your phone. The bands 4G uses are limited by the hardware in them, if you bought a SPRINT CDMA phone in a foreign county no one screwed anyone except you screwing yourself. You should have bought the global version directly from HTC.

I'm not in the states I'm located in Guam, I'm aware of the hardware limitations, but I'm wondering if the device will be able to pick up signal. I believe my carrier will be using hsdpa bands at 1900mhz and I'm under the impression that the Sprint use those
I am screwed as well as others that have gotten Sprint branded devices here, I feel for them but those people are normal users, that don't know rooting and what associated with it. I don't feel too bad about having this device at all, it's been working great, I was just waiting for my carrier to bring out something 3G data.
I was really banking on having it be able to get the upgraded speeds, and maybe help others who are on the same boat as me.
