Hello,
I am now having issue with my K20 Pro. I'm using 12.0.5 xiaomi eu
Not certain but possibly started after I upgraded to MIUI 12.
Issue is that the mobile data never works when signal is 4G/LTE.
Internet only works if you find a stable 4G+/LTE+ signal. The system would tend to constantly switch between 4G and 4G+.
Another option is to use 3G/H+ Preferred option. H+ works fine but as we all know this is the older network which means slower but decent data
I have read some solutions to delete and reset your APN. But it never works either. Also compared the network behavior between other phone like Oneplus 5T and it doesn't have the issue even using the same network and same location.
I'm not sure if this has been raised to Xiaomi directly. But I'm hoping there's a fix for this.
Thank you!!

I dont know if its exactly the same issue I had , but I give you my solution , it might solve your problem as well :
1. download Activity Launcher from the playstore.
2. Open it and search "miuiBand"
3. Choose the network LTE band of your Operator(look it up in google) for example LTE B3 (if you use only 4G , look at LTE and not LTE Preffered)
4. Toggle Selection ON (Top).
Hope this solves your issue as it did mine.

I have this. However, I can't understand why it suddenly changes reverts from time to time. Do you always take a look at it whenever connecting to Mobile Data?
As I also check in Network Cell Info Lite, phone still connects to the band causing the problem (Band 21)

When you get low coverage or restart the phone or get out of plane mode , your network settings go back to default (band will be chosen automatically), but forcing the prefered network type ,you will prevent this from happening (you will only have to worry about restarts /phone / modem).
Making the choice permanent IS possible with root (Check this Link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...ific-network-bands-snapdragon-t3744243/amp/).

Btw, I cannot get Network Signal Guru to work with Magisk v21.1 anymore
Mi 9T (not Pro), tried with EEA stock MIUI 12.0.3 and Xiaomi.eu stable 12.0.6.
Last time it worked for me on EEA 12.0.2 with Magisk v21.0
I tried now that Samsung Band Selection app., it complains that hidden activity is not found (on my Xiaomi.eu 12.0.6) and it cannot open band selection options
But I don't have a problem with bands, just curious to tesr the things?
Bought a Xiaomi Redmi note 9s last month for Christmas for myself.
It had MIUI 12.0.2 on it by default.
Played around with it for a whole month and everything was working perfectly...4g LTE included.
I don't have internet at home so I use my phone has a hotspot.
Average download speed was 60 megabits per second.
... Until I upgraded to 12.0.3, I then lost LTE and only connected using H+
So beware before upgrading because I have not found the solution yet other than flash with pixel experience ROM.
Edit :
Changing Network detection from automatic to manual fixed it !
My Redmi notes "global" phones 4 & 5 had to flash new ROM to unlock bands.
Hope this helps
I realised that this issue is most likely due to baseband limitation with our Network provider. Given that I'm using a China Variant, the basebands my phone is lacking needed basebands here in the Philippines. What I'm looking for now is a QPST guide for SD855 to activate at least base band 20. I can't find any that has enabled it thru QPST yet.

Hi,
I recently had a factory reset, since my Xiaomi MI 3W was not responding! I use wifi most of the time, I have activated 3G data pack from Airtel (Service Provider), MIUI version - MIUI 6.3.9.0 (KXDMIBL) | Stable , the problem that am facing now is, when I select 3G only under Preferred Network Type (Mobile Networks), usually I had selected 3G only before factory reset & it was working fine, but now when I select 3G only there is no signal/service(emergency calls only), when I select 2G only or Prefer 3G, I get the service/signal, but I am unable to browse 3G data! If anyone has a solution, please let me know, since I have no clue of the customer support in India/Bangalore.
Thanks

Hi, I am having the exact same problem. And I'm also on airtel. When I insert this sim into anyother phone the 3g is working in that phone. I have been using this phone from past 1 year and i didn't have any probs until now. And the worst part is the customer service centre and the service provider haven't got a clue apart from throwing the problem on each other rather than finding a solution!!

Hello. Were you able to resolve the issue?
Hello Fellow MI5 Users,
I am writing this thread to see if anyone else is having issues like me with my Mi5.
The problem is the intermittent signal issue with LTE, My problem started when I flashed 6.7.28 miui 8 update at first I thought that it was my Network Provider, but when I checked my dad's and sisters phones (same provider) their 4G signal is very stable without any issues at all.
So to describe my problem this is what's happening to my phone.
My phone is now running the latest Global beta miui8 6.8.12
When switching to LTE as prefer connection my phone signal goes crazy from NO SIGNAL - NO SERVICE - EMERGENCY ONLY - NO SIMCARD as I dig in to my settings i change my preferred connection to 3G Only which in my surprise works well and perfect without any issues but the problem here in my country(Philippines) you cannot rely on H or H+ at all since the network provider service sucks bigtime!
So far here's a list of what I did with my phone to fix it
- Flash back to China miui8 later version that I remembered that I don't have any issues with my LTE(Sucks because the issue was there also when I went back)
- Flash to MIUI 7 (Ohh well at this point I thought going back to miui7 will fix this issue but NO, not at all and I'm losing patience)
- Flash all KINDS of CM Based OS (Well switching OS might solve the issue, But believe me it got worst! after flashing all kinds of CM Based OS on my MI5 it all went down to Reboot forever bug (this happens when my phone boots and phone started to connect to LTE)
- Went back to Global beta miui 8 6.8.12 basedband version TH20c1.9-00038 up until now im still using this version.

hi im using official global rom with my mi5 but i cant make native video call on my gsm operotor because of not support miui 7 and 8 so.. is there a rom support native video calling like samsung ?
Mi5 Prime user here. same problem with LTE as well using GLOBE sim, no problem with SMART so far. using China ROM MIUI 8
here are my observations
GLOBE switched to LTE - stable when stationary.. goes NO SIGNAL / EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY when moving in a vehicle
i guess there is a problem on the radio signal switching from H+ to LTE vise versa. unlike my other phone - Meizu M2 Note. no problem switching between 3G / H+ / 4G.

Hello James,
I am having the exact same issue on my Globe Sim. I just bought mine last week. Whenever i turn on my mobile data, signal suddenly goes to no service, not detected, etc. Its very frustruating.
Is my unit defective? Or is it just a firmware issue?

I am using both Mi5 and Redmi Note 4x. In both phones, I experience frequent network connection drops for both SIM cards in serted on the phone (one is Sun, the other is Globe). Even while stationary, I exeperience the network drop where the signal bar for both SIMs suddenly simultaneously disappear. The network drop is worse when I am mobile. In addition, the network drop is causing the app I am using at the time to restart. PLEASE HELP.
hi.. is this thread still active? have you found the solution?
i am also from the Philippines, been using globe for 2 years in mi5 with no connection problems, then recently, when i try to connect to data, the signal goes on and off just like yours.. just this month, i updated from miui7 to miui9 and the problem got worst! when i connect to mobile data, phone reboots after a minute! i tried every fix i found in the internet (reset APN settings, factory reset, airplane mode) but nothing seems working.. So i tried Sun as my other network and it works perfectly fine.. Also, i tried to interchange sim 1 and 2 slot but still not fixed.. Another thing, when i turn the data in different place, my connection seems okay.. i live in cebu city but works in lapulapu.. the problem occurs in lapulapu..
help! is this network related or somethings wrong with the phone?
Good to see this thread. I thought my phone had a factory defect.
based on my experience.
version 9.1.1.0 and below only loses signal for globe while on data connection in some locations .
higher versions up to the latest(now is 9.5.5.0) causes our phone to totally reboot in some locations as well.
maybe it has to do with the signal/radio frequency on the area for the identified carrier(Globe).
this is easy.

Hi,
I'm new in MI8 community ? (just living leeco lepro3 ). I've strange switchs between 4G to H+.
I explain ?. Previously, at home, I was all the time in 4G with my PRO3. But now, my MI8 switchs time to time and during the switch I loss the connection. Nevertheless, my device receives full signal in 4G and it stays connected on the same BTS.
If I set it in plane mode ON and after OFF...back to 4G for a short time...
I'm on miui10 and on Sosh (orange) french network.
Tks for your help
Hey !
I'm also french and i'm experiencing that kind of H+ switches, as you I had 4g in these areas before with my oneplus 3 with Bouygues Telecom ISP and now i can't even connect to the internet, must be the antennas...
I can connect to 4G but something doesn't work fine...I can't stay connected. The level of the signal increase and dicrease strangly.
I'm a little bit disapointed :crying:
Because each phone have different bands and if your phone doesn't have the right band for your area cell tower then it'll keep changing back to the most stable connection it can do.
Sure, I know that. But I leave in campaigne with only one BTS. So I'm always connected to the same antenna.
And if it was an issue with the frequency band (lepro3 has the same), switching OFF/ON, airplane mode should not fix my issue.
I've tested with Mate 20, and i'm always 4G in full power received !
Nobody else has the same issue ??
I have the same issue, 4g and H+ are switching all the time. Sometimes it keeps switching several times in a minute on a fixed location.
I am in Croatia, operator is A1, Mi8 Global model.
very well it seems like it's not an isolated bug. can we trace this kind of problem to xiaomi and if so by which channel?
Hi, i'm still facing time to time the issue. No fix planned? I'm not alone.
Zero promises here but you can try forcing the network mode to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) and check if it makes a difference.
To Change 2G to 3G 4G LTE only network mode in Android Phone via USSD code, take the following steps:
Dial *#*#4636#*#* OR ##626* OR ##786# in your phone
Select Phone Information
If you have Dual SIM Select the Slot (SIM) you want change settings for
Scroll Down and select the Option Under “Set preferred network type”
Click to collapse
Also works by pressing 5 x times on settings \ my device \ total storage
Thks but It's not a good solution. I won't force network type choice.

If you flash 9.1.17 Xiaomi.EU they have updated Network Switching handover to European UMTS, instead of default chinese TD-CMDA to WCDMA as Stoffl_ says.
I had the same problem as you say of switching from LTE to H+ because of this. Either change it manually after boot or unlock the bootloader and flash another rom. Until they fix it in global, if they do.

So, after few month my feedback. I've try to force the switching of prefered type of network and it does not work. So I expected a new version of MIUI who can fix it...
Today, I'm in the lastest Miui 10.3.3.0 stable and the issue still
Hello guys,
I'm using Mi9T Pro with Stock EU rom MIUI 12 version 12.0.4
I have this issue with Xiaomi regarding how the system handles prioritization of Network Band when it comes to using Mobile Data connection.
We know that we have options to prefer 4G, 3G or 2G. But it doesn't define which specific band. Like for example, 4G can be 4G/LTE or 4G+/LTE+. These 2 networks seem to be the same but these actually have different network bands
The question is how does Xiaomi system prioritize which band to select?
Does it prefer the one with higher signal or the one that pings better.
I have this question because as I have experienced, Xiaomi system seem to prefer the one with better signal regardless if it can't even pull any data. In short, it will keep connecting to a network with a better signal strength even if you won't get any internet connection out of it.
I've been noticing this when I set my phone to 4G preferred in my location. When signal indicator turns to 4G/LTE. It may seem to show you that you're connected to the internet but you can't really browse anything because there's actually no data for that band. But when it turns to 4G+, that's when I really get to connect to the internet.
And the biggest problem is that the system prefers to connect to the 4G band. That's why I'd prefer using 3G network because I have a more stable 3G+ signal here.
Another thing that's really disappointing is that my other phone OnePlus 5T handles this well. We share the same APN.
Sadly there's no band selection in *#*#4636#*#*
It would be glad if anyone could provide a better solution to this.
Thank you!

4+ g usually means (specially on Xiaomi phones) LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation where no other/different bands are used but instead the phone is in parallel attached to more than one 4g band. As such, it increases the speed (and maybe, in your case provides a fail-over?!):
https://www.gizbot.com/mobile/featu...ifference-between-4g-4g-explained-053769.html
However, there is another question why (on that place) you have strong 4g signal with no Internet, so that when your phone switches to CA and in parallel attaches to another 4g band (maybe with a weaker signal) it obtains Internet connection over that second band
At least to better understand on which band (at which place and which base station) you have a 4g signal but with no Internet connection, install an app like Network Cell Info Lite, LTE Discovery, Net Monitor Lite). I think with Net Monster (all apps are on Playstore) you can even see on the map where is the base station you are attached to
If your phone is rooted, you could use Network Signal Guru that will show you, in case of 4+g all bands you are aggregated to with their signal strengths, base stations locations, etc (apps above would always show just one, primary band):

I'm pretty sure that with MIUI 11 there was an option to disable/enable 4+, but on MIUI 12 (12.0.2 QFJEUXM) there is no more that option
I don't know of other options (except to prefer 4, 3 or 2 g), specially about selecting bands

This is what I was looking for.
Thanks!
I'm running xiaomi.eu 13.0.8.0 on my Note 10 Pro currently, though I'm not sure it matters for this.
When I have the Preferred network type set to "Prefer LTE" my phone locks onto LTE towers with a poor signal, typically around -117 to -123 dbm, ( > 2km away, 0-1 bars). Sometimes calls work, but often I get reports that people aren't able to call me, and if I make a call it may take several minutes of retrying before it finally switches to UMTS or GSM and the call goes through. There is a strong GSM signal close by, but it typically refuses to use it and prefers the unusable LTE signal instead.
Short of setting it to "2G only" is there any setting that would let the phone switch to a usable signal, when LTE is so bad?
VoWiFi might help in this case to get around the problem, but I haven't gotten that working, either.
reset phone settings. prefer it
redmi note 10 pro same device as yours and I know as I am facing another bug, same would U bcz firmware is latest I have debloated many apps from adb pm.... command.
A Bug I know exist most people wont know is about Cellular network Band. It adds jitter in connection.
And I have solution for that one but that require root. maybe not
But Trust me I know problem Thats it we can find solution
To know the problem, It is actual in band selection. If u check it and find a fix please share it here.
I am writing my fix here
---> Download app from Playstore called "Hidden Settings For Android" to see the problem.
---> now search "band"
U have to use little brain and see all three selections name.
---> FUN read this " Two system apps called System settings and Miui System settings have control over band selection. Right!
---> One open settings for band selection and other opens settings for band selection as same as we think but they are different apps and have different data storage settings they override each other if u select one band in one settings and two in another make both their selection buggy.
By default when i didnt found this I was experiencing bad network.
Then I selected same band on both settings and keep them open in background and by network run back to normal * more faster than other devices on same network provider
As soon as I remove both from background, later bug starts to happen again.
Interesting. I ended up getting vowifi working by contacting my service provider and asking them to enable it on my SIM. So I keep the phone in airplane mode with wifi enabled when I'm at home. That's working much better.
I did try "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth" before, several times, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
