Question Support for Dual frequency GPS? - Google Pixel 5a

The Pixel 5 supposedly had support for dual frequency (L5/E5a) GPS, but not any of the 4a models.
tl;dr — Dual-frequency GNSS on Android — Table of devices
Android devices that support L5

Is this supported in the 5a?
How is the GPS in general?

my 5a can see me accurately standing in my front yard between the road and the house. the gpstest app shows L1 satellite

Does the Dell Streak 7 WiFi Only feature 5GHz

wireless frequency? I was wondering, because I could not find any information on this.
It doesnt support 5 Ghz, only 2.4 Ghz

Bummer....well, does the Streak 7 have any other hardware capability like FM? or something.
http://www.broadcom.com/products/Bluetooth/Bluetooth-RF-Silicon-and-Software-Solutions/BCM4329
Capable of lots of things, not necessarily implemented.
So, what you're saying is that the hardware is there but the software doesn't allow it?
If that's the case someone could release a file that allows you to unlock these features.
I dont believe that ours can physically support 5 GHz, though I would like to be proven wrong.
5 GHz support requires having 5GHz amps and antennas, enabling 5 GHz bands requires the hardware for it.
It wouldnt make sense for dell to buy BCM4329's that support 5 GHz and then go around and turn off support for it.
For a similar reason the S7 can only support 72mbit over 802.11n, it only has a 1x1 antenna and only operates on 2.4 GHz.
I can connect at 72mbit with my S7, but 144mbit with my laptop as it has a 2x2 antenna.
(my wireless AP has a 2x2 antenna, so it maxes out at 300mbit on 2x2 ant, 400ns GI, 40mhz channels)
It's similar to how the EU models have a huawei 820W and the US ones have a 820U,
they only seem to ultimately differ in the latter supporting 1700mhz and with the ants and amps for it.
Radios of this nature can often support more bands in their specs then they can transmit/recieve on via their antennas.

General asus zenfone 2 laser

First introduced at Computex, the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser is another budget-friendly smartphone from ASUS that comes in two main models — one for the U.S., which we'll focus on here, and another for international audiences.
The U.S. model of the ZenFone 2 Laser is ZE551KL, and is a larger and much more capable version of the phone — it has a 5.5-inch 1080p display (same as the original ZenFone 2), along with a Snapdragon 615 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage, and a 13MP camera with laser autofocus.
The international version, ZE500KL, has a 5-inch 720p display instead, as well as a Snapdragon 400 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of base storage and a smaller 2400 mAh battery. Both phones offer dual SIM capabilities, which is a bonus.

Both models are sold for roughly the equivalent of $199 for 16GB of storage and $249 for 32GB, so be sure if you're in the U.S. to pick up the right model to get the most bang for your buck. While you're at it, you may also want to consider the original ZenFone 2, which may offer you better value at similar prices in the U.S. depending on what features matter to you most.

T-Mobile Extended Range LTE

For users of Laser 2 - ZE551KL (Z00T) : T-Mobile US uses in some areas the Band 12 LTE, and our devices officially have only Band 17 LTE - they are both 700MHz bands (LTE 12 includes blocks A, B and lower C, while LTE 17 includes only blocks B and lower C).
I wonder if the latest firmware (Version WW_1.17.40.1234 with radio baseband 202c10_10.0.0_160304) did anything about the compatibility with band 12 (the release notes said something about "Improve 4G connectivity" and "Suggest to update for connection quality improved").
Does anyone have experience with T-Mobile US on the above phone? Is LTE available in all the areas where it should be (based on T-Mobile map) or you get dropped to 3G (H+) in some areas?
Supposedly the radio supports Band 12, but T-mobile doesn't think it supports VoLTE, so T-Mobile won't allow you to use Band 12. Something to do with not being able to make a voice call to 911 over LTE as an alternate means of connecting to 911, which they require their Band 12 phones to have.
People seem to think the Snapdragon 615 supports voice over 4G and can support VoLTE which could be implemented by Asus if they wanted to . Why they didn't or haven't no one seems to know.
Yeah, T-Mobile uses VoLTE exclusively in band 12:

Asus doesn't support that (at least not on this firmware). MotoX 2015 got the VoLTE in Marshmallow update, Nexus 5X and 6 got the update too in last December...

You would think that gives ZF2 Laser owners with the Snapdragon 615 and 616 chip a chance, but that's exactly the type of thing Asus is extremely unlikely to do. If they manage to get the promised Marshmallow update to all Zenfone 2 models before the end of Q2 without major bugs that would exceed their normal level of service for products after sale.

Wifi MIMO and LTE CAT 9?

Hi guys, i was wondering about the real differences fromo OP3. In OP3, they cut down the cost by not implementing all the antenna array form MIMO: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/oneplus-3-cat-6-lte.450553/#post-15128371.
We have a fantastic Snapdragon 821, which has x12 modem, i think, so the question is: do they made the same mistake with OP3T? Does it come without MIMO and with an old x8 modem (only CAT6)? Is it again an hardware problem or can it be unlocked someways?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, this is not reliable. In the past, with OP3 they wrote it has x12 modem, mu-mimo etc etc, but then the modem was an x8 modem. So i wouldn't trust what they declare on the site much.

Yes i heard that one but here they clearly mention like:
"OnePlus 3T uses the integrated Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with advanced 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi support." etc.
"The X12 LTE modem is designed to offer superior network coverage and 33 percent faster 4G+ LTE speeds than the previous generation modem, making sure that voice calls, video, and data get to the OnePlus 3T faster. "
Are they such a "liars"?

Yeah, the thing is they wrote almost the exact same thing for OP3:
"Blazing fast connectivity
Less time waiting means more time spent binging on Netflix. Thanks to the X12 LTE modem integrated into the Snapdragon 820, spotty internet is a problem of the past. The modem provides up to 33 percent faster 4G+ LTE speeds compared to the previous generation, so web pages and video streams load quickly and seamlessly. And with 802.11ac MU-MIMO support, the OnePlus 3 can download files faster with its 3X increase in user speeds and longer battery life, compared to traditional Wi-Fi."
And then we discovered Oneplus had cheaped out with the modem, not implementing all the antenna array. Qualcomm of course write down the technical spec of their modem, but who knows what Oneplus did with it..
I'm trying to get if they cheaped out again with OP3T, as it's marked as "CAT 6", even if the modem should go up to CAT 13.
Not cool then

There is no lie on that statement. Is talking about MU-MIMO not about MIMO.
Now the question is, is it possible to port Cat12/13 from other MSM8996. If it's hardware related like the USB port and FM radio it's futile. Vote with your wallet.

Question SM-G998W dual frequency GPS?

Can anyone with the SM-G998W model (Canada) tell me if it's supposed to have dual frequency GPS? Mine doesn't, and also seems to have a very limited number of satellites supported.

Specs say, it has GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO.
That's it.
As far as the specs go, I'm not seeing any BD satellites. And I don't think the specs would specifically mention dual frequency GPS.
I'll answer my own question. Yes, Canadian version (SM-G998W) does have a dual frequency GPS chip in it. Seeing both L1 and L5 satellite frequencies.
