Xperia 1 ii battery life - Sony Xperia 1 II Questions & Answers

I'm new to Xperia 1 ii phone. Can someone say about the battery life? Is it normal that the camera consumes battery more? This is running on Android 12 and also this is more than 2 years old.

Screen and a camera continues autofocus will suck juice, how much depends on your device.
I expect +10h screentime in total; but even my minimal lineageos-18.1 cant deliver it reliable on a two year old device.

[Q] longevity of internal batteries on xperia devices?

Hi all,
I'm very interested in switching to the z3 compact yet my main concern is the built-in battery. I'm concern that the battery might fail after the 1 yr warranty has elapsed. If this happens; I'd be at the mercy of the sony service center. Replacing a built-in battery will definitely cost a lot more than just swapping out interchangeable batteries like I do now with my s4 mini.
The xperia Z line has been around for 2 years now if I'm not mistaken, can anyone share the battery health of their Z device after 1 or 2 years of constant use (those who recharge every night). after the 2nd year did you feel that the battery lasts far less than what is acceptable? and how much did it cost you to get it replaced? or you just sold it and bought a newer generation phone.

It all depends on the way you charge your batteries.
- If you repeatedly using your phone till it's dead or almost dead, then recharge to full, the longevity will be short.
- Longevity is also affected by the length of time it is connected to the charger, the shorter the better.
- If you keep it at 100% all the time, this will reduce longevity ( fully charged = highly stressed battery).
I learned the above from the site below, so more info there:

This is what is happening to my s4 mini now. The battery barely lasts a day on my normal usage. Now I'm hardly using it because I'm afraid it will run out of juice before I reach home. I gets to a low 20% and then I charge it overnight. the z3 compact's 2 day battery will solve this for me, hopefully.

well that is a bummer. I was planning on purchasing a dock to set it as my alarm clock.

I normally keep my phone plugged in over night so that I can be certain that it will be full in the morning when I leave. This is because my current phone's battery drops by 10-17% overnight while I sleep. I compared that to an 5S running on 2G = 1-3% = awesome. (btw; signal is very ok at my house so I don't think it is waking up due to that)
Thank you for your inputs. I guess I'll have to change how I charge my phones from now on.
Have had my xperia z almost since launch and can't really say t hey I noticed any big difference in battery life. Sure some it prob are would be strange but lot so I notice it.
And for the long charge it isn't that big of a problem, have had my Z in the dock over night every day.
As with all these batteries (Li-ion): if you store them leave them at 40-60% then store them away , they dont like to run fully emtpy (although there probably is some hibernation implemented in the system like on laptops) nor fully charged.I think thats the reason why you also never get a fully charged/discharged device .
Batteries have been getting smarter so modern batteries of this type will never charge to 100% even though they display it (thats why leaving them connected it basically does no harm). I am assuming the Z3C also does it this way.
I recommend "calibrating" the battery once or twice every two months that means full charge , then full discharge, then full charge again but beware that if your battery is near death this procedure could be its killing blow due to bad cells .So just do it if you do not experience any problems with the battery, like a sudden drop in battery. Otherwise you can calmly "let it learn" its real capacity.
But again technology has also not slowed down on batteries and as this is a modern device which I think you cant kill with normal usage just extend its life (a bit).

I also had my XZ since launch, with BT always on I use about 50% during a normal working day.
Have my Z3C for about 3 weeks now, so only time will tell whether the battery lasts. However, this is not my first Sony phone and the Xperia U (about 2 years old, now being used by our son) hardly shows any degradation. Same goes with the Xperia M (1 year old) and still going like new. Adding to that, I never actually paid much attention to when or how I recharged....
Batteries don't usually go bad all at once. Instead, wearing out is more of a gradual process of not charging quite as high and discharging faster. Since this battery is so good to begin with, I would think compared to other devices you could buy right now it will last a long time.
A year from now you'll still get more life out of even an abused z3c battery than you'd get out of that undersized cell in a brand new Moto X.

battery life

So, i bought XP few weeks ago, comming from z3.
I am very disappointed from the battery, compared to z3.
Want to ask you how many SOT you have, cos when i'm outside using lte i barely make like 3,5 SOT. Even dont have facebook app to drain the battery.
For 5min telegram chat it goes down with 2%.
Thats why wanted to ask you guys hows your battery life because i'm starting to thinking that my device is faulty or deffect.
Please share your thoughts on that, for 4 hours from 100 it went to 75now with only 30mins SOT
Might be a factory defect, my Xperia x performance always reaches a little bit over 5 hours of screen on time.
Have you seen details on battery usage?
Anyway, I can say that battery lives on Z3+,Z5,Z5 Premium are no match for Z3. See battey test on GSMARENA and you will see that XP got a lot less number compare to Z3 as well.
Yeah, sure its 400mah difference between z3 and xp, but still i think something is wrong, may be on wi fi only i can make 4,5-5h SOT but on lte, impossible.
Here some screenshots from today, took it around 9am from the charger

It doesn't have the WiFi bug that the xa had on release by any chance. Not letting the device reach sleep properly, workaround is to turn off scanning always available inc when screen is off in settings WiFi advanced. It's since been fixed on the xa with a update appently, I'm still waiting on the update to hit the UK

When i browse the web, or just chat it goes down very fast, draining as hell. Phone gets warm only from browsing and chat, here is 35degrees, but still i'm not using it against the sun, even now since i type this it went with 1% down from the beginning of the post writing wich is basically 2-3mins.
So when i use the phone w screen on then its the draining. My wi fi is off now i'm outside
Many people suffer battery drain from Google service (especially when they're using WiFi). However, I dont see anything suspicious from your picture except your signal strength. Very low signal strength would drain your battery real fast as well. I suggest you turning off cellular signal for a day, use only WiFi, and then see your battery consumptiom at the end of the day.
Another thing I would like to mention is battery capacity. Z3 and Z3+ has battery different of 150 mAh but from my personal experience Z3+ would last around 60% of what Z3 could. Its not only about battery itself, its also about what Sony managed on the kernel level to optimize power consumption. Sody has done very bad on this since snapdragon 810 era.
I made a soft reset, will see if there is any difference afrer 2-3 charging cycles.
Another thing is i'm living in Bulgaria, here my operator just introduced the LTE, so the network i s*** may be thats the case will listen to your advice. And try 1day without a cellular.
5 hours of almost continuous use, some of them using battery intense apps and games like Pokémon Go, most of it just reading stuff on Chrome at 50% screen illuminating consumes around 50% of battery for me. So if you're losing 98% charge iin 5 minutes, your phone probably suffers from some kind factory defect.
In 5-6 mins use SOT(browsing and checking instagram i'm loosing exactly 1-2% if i'm outside lets say 3%max if the screen need to be full brightness, hows yours?
Dont play pokemon, even dont have fb app, only instagram, shazam, telegram, viber and whatsapp and chrome.

Go to settings location tap the three dots top right then turn both the sliders to the off position WiFi and Bluetooth are scanning in the background even if they are both turned off in main settings. Makes a huge difference to the battery life on my xa.

Thanks, but allready done that, maximum i achieved 3h 38m SOT from 9am till 11pm, with LTE mostly, on wi fi i believe i can make 4hours SOT
I think battery capacity is the culprit that 400 is a big difference i used z5 premium and i got 4hrs sot only they should put there 3000 to 3200 mah on 5 inch screen Hope they fix their design im starting to dislike sony
I am testing as well at the moment. I hardly manage to get through the day. I am still investigating as it is quite hard without root. That was yesterday.

I couldn't agree more styxter! The capacity is TOO small on the XP!

I couldn't agree more Ice! I too came from a Z3, and the battery life on my XP is really disappointing. The 2 day battery life promise DIED IMO when the Z series ended. These new batteries suck. lol Way too small. The XP I saw was rated as having the WORST battery life of any 2016 flagship (even less than XZ's) AND the longest charging time. Kind makes me wish I'd waited for the XZ. lol Or just got the HTC 10 maybe, which lasts 70 minutes longer than the XP can. But XP and XZ have the better camera, so tough call. Camera or battery life? If HTC 11 bumps up the camera (10's was very good to great but XP's is excellent) another notch over 10, I may be switching back to HTC (used to have the One M8).
I have uninstalled or disabled the majority of bloatware including the Facebook app, but still. One day 6 weeks ago I had to leave early so was on a train by 6am. Even after enabling Stamina Mode and turning off phone 2-3 times over the day, by like 8 or 9pm that night, I was down to 5%! That is awful man. lol I'm really getting fed up with Sony and their BS, even though I do love my phone overall. But battery life is a major factor for me, as is camera and performance.

I hope they do Ice, but I have little faith a software update is gonna make any real difference vs. the other 2016 flagship competition. And if it does, it will probably improve the competition's battery life too..............aka, very little difference. But I'll take whatever they can give me I guess. Not even sure if I will still be with Sony next year. DEF keeping my eyes on LG and HTC, who both currently have better battery life too than the XP and even the XZ (and lower charging times too).
Well, what's sad is despite the XZ's larger battery capacity, it's STILL only the SECOND worst on battery life vs. the 2016 flagship competition's, right behind the XP. lol I believe it only has like 30-40 min over the XP at best. Where the HTC 10 for example has a solid 70 min over the XP. And that's still on the low end, but at least there's a lot LESS BS when it comes to HTC phones than Sony's (though Sony's still have the slightly better camera, but that may not be the case with the 11 next year). And the audio quality and volume of the 10 def seems superior to what Sony is giving us these days vs. the competition. 2 years ago, it was much more equal, but in 2016, HTC took a big step forward while Sony seems to have taken 1-2 steps back. See my threads on Head-Fi for more on that (if you wish) here and here.
as it has a bright screen, I find that using a black theme and customize as much apps to black helps. Normally it can last a full day and it will have 30 percent left. I'm not a heavy user though.
Guys tell me about the battery i want this phone but i need battery that last at least full day sorry for my bad english

If you turn your brightness to 1/4, no gps, no bluetooth, you'll make it through te day with like 5 hours SOT.

Why does my battery life suck?

Why am I not getting the battery life that you guys have? I'm currently at 62% battery with 2 hours and 58 minutes SOT, no gaming, just light usage. I have the 128GB Global version running Android 10 Beta 5 but even with the latest stable Android 9, I'm still getting similar results. Could this be a hardware problem with my phone? I'm sooo disappointed because I got this phone for the battery life and it just doesn't feel like a 6000 mAh phone. Attached are some screenshots.
On 9 I get ample battery life, also it is a beta, so assuming ymmv
Wow that's bad, light use I get 2 days.
Can't help why though, I'm on Android 9

Xperia xz2 Battery Health Decreasing

Hi Everyone. Some Days Ago i feel My Xperia xz2 battery not last as before. Was Get around 8 hours on Blu_schedutil Governor But Now I get around 6 hours. I check Battery Health in service menu it show 2894000 uAh Which 2894 in mAh. But Actual Battery Capacity Of Xperia XZ2 is 3180 mAh. is Your Xperia Xz2 Also Decreasing Battery Health?
2867 mAh is my current capacity and ofc it'll degrade like any other battery but your battery life looks great for a 2+ years old device.
I feel you.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz2/how-to/battery-replacement-t4148329
It's quite a bit of work... but probably worth it. Since currently the SD865 is first gen 5G and uses way too much Power and devices are way to expensive. So Staying with the XZ2 for a little longer seems like a good idea.
There is a design capacity in the battery part, but it doesn't reflect the internal battery capacity the phone uses
The internal one according the the config file is 3060mAh
If your battery last less than before, use the better battery stats app to find the things on your phone using more battery than before.
The battery info menu also got removed with android 10
If the system drains you battery, you should (full wipe and) upgrade to android 10.

Question What's the Battery life of this device realme UI 2

Thinking about buying this device.
What SOT is expected from this device ? not as a new device but after 3-6 months of use
i heard some ppl saying they have battery drains quick.
