Not really sure what this is, but I am going to close it and very slowly tiptoe backwards, trying hard not to step on the cat on my way out...

[HOW TO] Nexus 7 color-mod

Hi guys,
i always wondered why the "x" on the back of the nexus 7 doesn't come in the nice nexus-colors...
So i did some modification to color it, and it looks really great!
This is just a quick how-to and i'm sure anyone can do it, too.
First of all, i thought about how to color it, and because i didn't want to get some permanent stuff on it, in case anything goes wrong, i decided to use tape for it.
So i ordered some tape in the matching nexus-colors, and made sure that the colors fit properly (light blue and green).
Cutting it out was actually pretty hard, because i had to do it very accurate, but i managed it.
After i attached it to the back using a tweezer, i looked awesome, but check it out, exactly how i imagined.
Its not perfect yet (red one is a little to big) but it seems to hold pretty good so far.
Cutting it out with a laser would be perfect, looking for someone who could do that atm...
But anyway, it looks so much better to me than the dull black, and i'm sure you like it, too!
In case you can't see the thumbnails, try this: http://imageshack.us/g/1/9778350/
Very neat! If I had the tape I would do it, pero but I wouldn't really order it on purpose.

That's awesome! Quite a bit of work, but it looks like it played off. I may just have to try this.

75 cents each, no shipping costs, was really cheap, and i can use it for other projects...
Why google didn't think about it?

This is really great.
I wonder if it would be easier using Acrylics paints. I think I am gonna give it a try some other day.

Normally you should see them, but sometimes this seems to be broken...
Try it on a different device!

Thought about that, too.
Make sure to work very accurate, and tape off all the area around the "x", then this could be great. (I would paint 3 layers to make sure the color is well covering)
That looks very nice. I want it but cant be botherd doing it. Maybe some other time, probably when i am drunk lol.

If you try it make sure to post it, if it sticks well i have some acrylic paint lying around that could be used
OK, I tried the Acrylics paints, but I failed terribly. The ditches of the X were so thin the paints ended up everywhere. I even used a sewing needle to work with it but no go. So I think OP using colored tapes is a smarter move.

Cool. Might do this on the "x" of the official Asus cover.
Imagine if someone filled in the little dots on the back to create a nexus 'x'

Did you already order it? If not, forget it and go with the blurex ultra slim case, that's really the best one you can get and it's even cheaper!

Try clearing your cache, page history and whatnot. I suggest Ccleaner.
On Topic: I love the idea, but alas I am too lazy to look for the tapes.

Nexus 4 has a pattern on the display.

If you hold up the phone turned off under bright light you'll see small blue dots in a grid pattern. Very cool.
Picture?

is the digitizer, the thing that let touch a smartphone not dumb
you can see it on every phone. Maybe in the n4 is more visible because lg used a special tecnology to blend it with the glass
Yea. It's totally right for Nexus to have these. For example, in SE Xperia Neo V there are barely noticeable lines running across the screen. You can sometimes see them when pixels are white. Now that's really annoying sometimes; as you can see, there's completely nothing to worry about

I didn't know being excited about something makes you a fanboy, right.
also, says the person who has a nexus 4 as well..
I figured that it had some rhyme or reason. It's definitely more noticeable, considering I've gone through a captivate and an HTC one xl without notice. As for the fanboy comment I really don't care. Trolls are trolls and hey. He's right. Who cares if I'm a fanboy dammit. I got my phone on the seventeenth, a day before my birthday, while the other poor souls wait.
Thanks for the info!
Thanks troll! I'm glad you were so amused

This pattern (as we agreed on is the digitizer) is very visible on my device even if the screen is turned on (!) It is really annoying on bright background colours. Anyone else suffering from this?

My new Nexus 4 has..feet?

I just received my new N4 from an RMA and noticed that there are now what appear to be two small bumps at the bottom of the just beneath the glass back. At first I only saw one and thought it was an imperfection but then I noticed the other in the exact same location on the opposite side. My old N4 doesn't have this. I'm guessing this was done to keep the glass from making contact with debris when it's laid on it's back, thus reducing potential scratches and damage. So is this new or did I miss something? Anyone else have these on their device?
I attached an image to show what I'm talking about. The extra layer you see on the rear of the phone is my dbrand skin.

Some of us do have lives, I mean we can't be glued to the interwebs, haha but I wish that I could be!! Lol. But in all seriousness, stop banging your head, I think you've lost enough brain cells, BAZINGA!! Now back onto the topic at hand, why did it take so long so get this feature? Seems pretty basic to me.
Nice, I just found this out accidentally, lol. I've had two Windows Phones w/dedicated hardware button for the camera - a feature that's difficult to adjust away from, so this is a welcome change in 4.3.

Anyhow, it does seem simple, but then again, so is the shortcuts in notification panel, which almost all UIs provide, except stock. That's how stock android is.

[Q] Color back covers OEM?

Anyone know if Motorola or an OEM will sell the colored Moto X back covers? I have a black one which is great for re-sale, but I want to get a few backs just to have some variety. They seem easy enough to snap on and off looking on the iFixit tear-down video.
