Europe or UK baseband seems to work for South East Asia. Not sure about Hong Kong. I am using Europe baseband in South East Asia and recently made a trip to Tokyo, Japan and it works in Tokyo too.
So if Europe baseband allows me to roam in Japan, I would think Hong Kong is not a problem.
HK using 900/2100, should be ok if you go for europe/UK
Thanks all!

Hi I bought a new 32GB white galaxy note from Expansys UK, I knew my phone was not going to be a uk based phone as in the description it said 'EU handset + UK Adapter'. When I plugged it in kies I saw something like 'csc KK5 (ATO)', I was just wondering what the ATO meant. Is it a sale code or country for Australia or Germany? If it helps when I booted the phone up for the first time the Android start up was in German. The box is all in English and from the look of the back of the box, bottom right corner you can see the different euro country codes.
So if anyone can help me please, I would appreciate it very much.
Many Thanks
Ryan_G

Hi there everyone so i am trying to find telstra firmware for my galaxy note as for the charging port is playing up i did a clockwork mod back-up but for some reason it won't restore gives me some error but yet it works fine with any other zip/firmware i have tried different charger/different cable with no success if you slightly move it around it will charge if you get it in the right place so i need to send it back if i can find the telstra firmware i would really appreciate any support offered thanks for your time.

Unfortunately no Telstra firmware but stock Australian firmware is here. Would be good if you were with Optus (even though they suck) as there is Optus firmware. This stock Australian firmware is probably the closest you will get.

I had the exact same problem with my port on my phone in regards to charging and I was going to send it back to optus but I decided to try and fix it myself. What I did was stick in the cord and force it up (as my port had moved down) until it was in place and now it charges better than ever. I don't exactly recommend it but it was a quick fix for me and saved 2 months of no phone, maybe it will work for you.

I found that my daughter has been sucking on the USB cable which corrodes the plug...
Make sure you try a different/brand new USB cable... it might just be that.
Hi all,
Can this phone be SIM\ network unlocked? I have been duped by a guy on-line who sold me a sealed unit and now I find that it's network blocked\blacklisted here on one of the networks in Ireland I would like to unlock it to see if hopefully I can get it working on one of the other networks. Can this be die yet?
Many thanks,
M

If it's been blacklisted on 1 network dude I think it will be the same for them all. Think they all use the same database. Where online did you purchase it?

Thanks so much man, you think it would be worth calling Meteor?
Cheers,

Yeah worth a try. Can't see them replacing the phone though. But if it's been someone on there network that's put in a claim on there insurance after selling it to you I'm sure they could check. Was it in a box with all accessories? Most stolen or lost phones come with no boxes or accessories.

It was brand new and sealed in the box mate so that is why I was not suspicious at all, unreal that they will just block unused phones like that!! If they won't help I'll get an unlock code or try get it unlocked on XDA somehow and then hope that it works on Vodafone or O2!?
Are you in Dublin yourself?
M
Yes you did say it was sealed. No mate... Up North in Belfast. Try calling your network. See what they can do.

OK mate....I wonder if phones blocked down here are blocked up there mate!? You have started me thinking
Have wondered that myself. Up here is considered UK home networks. I'm on 3... And if I travel over the border im still charged mainland Europe roaming rates. And I see a lot of people selling phones on eBay from the UK stating no signal Europe only. Obviously barred on UK networks.

Did you try googling it?
http://www.cellfservices.com/store/unlock-samsung-region-lock.html
I asked, they said they could do it but it would take a few days to get the code, alternatively order a UK sim card from ebay, top it up and do 5 minutes if calls.
I think he means he's in India with a UK region locked phone. Getting a UK SIM isn't going to be a fix as I doubt the phone will pick up a signal from a UK mast lol

Thank you for understanding but I'll be heading to US in a day and will have a 3 hour lay off at heathrow so if I buy a sim card at airport and use it will it do the trick?

Yes or if you are good at making friends just borrow a SIM card & buy them a coffee while you do it.
Good luck.
