I have just fitted a haicom GPS mouse to my friends O2 xda carkit.
Having read all the problems about muting and having to fit a relay on the stereo mute , I thought I would look a little deeper into that small black connector (8 pin connector)
I discovered that on turning gps on (on the xda) the stereo would mute instantly , I traced this to a 6v signal being given on the purple wire (pin 8 )
I connected pin8 to pin 2 (black (gnd) ) this did the trick - the gps now acts as if it is a factory installed gps system - only mutes when directions are given and if you turn voice of on gps it never mutes
Hope people find this useful

gps muting
hi....i read your post with interest....it sounds good, but can u clarify it a little....i have a car kit, professionally fitted at first and the mute was connected directly to the stereo.....mute worked perfectly on the phone, but the gps software always muted the stereo whenever activated. i then fitted a micro switch in the mute wire, so i can use the radio and gps together. Will this resolve this?.....and could u clarify which pins exactly..is it pin 8 on the gps connector, which is marked rs232 txd...[orange].do u put this to the black wire [gnd] shown under it?
I just leased a 2007 Audi A4. It was a special deal and did not come with the Bluetooth interface that works so well on my wife's 2006 Audi A6.
I would really like to hook the phone up to the Audi A4 in some way. I was wondering if any of you experts had any ideas or have successfully hooked your Wizards to any newer vehicles (via wire or bluetooth) which did not come equipped to handle phones.
Here's some ideas, I've had.
Wired Connection. Does anyone have any suggestions for hard wiring the Wizard to a car's stereo via the 2.5mm jack on the Wizard? I almost bought a Saab 9-3 which had a 3.5mm jack inside the glove box. I hooked up my Wizard via a 3.5mm cable with a 2.5mm adapter for the Wizard. I was able to listen to my music playing on the Wizard and when someone called, I could hear the ringing through the car's speakers, but there was evidently no microphone connection so no one could hear me. A wired solution should be feasible and there's a button on the steering wheel which may be able to answer calls.
Bluetooth Connection. An alternative to the wired connection is a bluetooth connection. Parrot has a neat car kit which even streams stereo from your Wizard (A2DP). Cool set up. Has anyone installed something like this in their Audi, BMW, etc.
Any help or direction would be most appreciated.
Help please!! My work have just kindly installed a intergrated bluetooth car kit for me. Its actually for my work phone a Nokia 6300. I am able to use the bluetooth to pair with my Kaiser and have voice conversations. Can I use it to listen to music though my Kaiser (actually a T-Mob Vario 3). The car kit must be connected to the car stereo because this cuts out automatically when I receive a call. I want to be able to use the car kit to allow me to listen to music from Media Player.
There is an app called BT toggle that routes all audio from the device to a bluetooth headset/speaker so It may be worth giving that a go..although SQ will be no wehere near as good as the built in stereo in the vehicle.
What car kit have the installed for you?
Is it a THB Bury car kit, if so then THB make a proper cradle for the kaiser
Yes it is a THB Bury Car kit with the cradlefor the Nokia 6300 with intergrated bluetooth sitting on top of it. I dont really want to buy the Kaiser Kit. Just stream music via the bluetooth cradle. Tried the BT Toggle app that c.b sugested but cant seem to get that to work. It just seems to make the music thats playing go quiet on the phone but it doesnt then come out of the cars speakers. Any ideas anyone?
I am thinking of replacing the stereo in my car with a dock for my Nexus6. I was going to just buy a new head unit for Bluetooth connectivity and hands free calling on the road. Then i thought why spend money on adding a layer between me and my phone since i don't use my radio anyway.
I have seen lots of write ups and videos of how to replace your stereo with a tablet. But the one thing I have never seen anyone do is add hands free calling for their phone.
I am hoping someone can tell me how to wire a mic in to a USB cable as I also take audio out to run to an amp and power in back to the phone. I am aware I will not have fade control just balance and I am good with that.
I am aware that I will need to run the output to an amp and my Jeep has one from the factory. I am not worried about wiring in a converter to supply power and already have one that charges the phone while using gps and play music at the same time and a dedicated fused circuit activated by relay so there are no issues with battery drain. I will build a custom dock with a USB cable mounted in it in the dash in place of the removed stereo. I plan on using one of the wired mics you use with an aftermarket pioneer stereo mounted on the dash. The specs for it are Polar pattern: Omni directional Mic diameter's 9.7*4.5mm Sensitivity:-47dB+/-2dB Frequency Range: 20-20KHz Output Impedance: ≤2.2 kΩ SNR: >58dB Standard Operation Voltage: 4.5V Operation Voltage: 1.0V-10V.DC Wire Length: 4 M Ref Pioneer part no: CPM1064 CPM1084
What I need is someone to please show me how to splice the cable so I can add rca connectors to audio out, mic in, and power in and have it work. Or if that can't be done I can add a qi charger to the dock if I can wire the speaker out and mic in as a usb headset and make that work. Or if I need to add a signal booster to the mic input to make it work please say so and give me specs to go find one.
Thank you in advance for any help or useful suggestions.

A hard card case or soft case with a metal 1 cm below the M-logo. A neodymium magnet on the dashboard. No car kit needed. The speaker of the N6 is loud enough for use in a car for navigation and phone. Same with microphone.
Option is to use a phone jack converter to connect the N6 output to the radio.
An example how I used my N7 in the car.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137636/ - post #65
Note my N6 case has metal at the outside and below the M-logo, because behind the logo is a magnet sensor that switches off the screen.
Thank you, but I have children. I need to be able to play music, and their moms voice through the car speakers on long drives.
The car I prefer to drive is also noisy and my phone can't always hear me when it is in the dash mount.
What I want is just to make a wired connection to a mic, speakers, and power, through the micro USB port. So I get in the car, plug my phone in, and slide it into a permanent holder.
Money matters and this would be free, also convient since all my stereo did was get music and calls from my phone anyway.
I know how to wire in a Bluetooth reviever for the audio, and a qi charger so that would be wireless but I don't know how to get a mic input back to the phone, none of the premade affordable receivers I have seen have a mic input.
And I am aware I could take audio out and in from the 3.5 jack and either go wireless for the charging or have to plug in two cords in I get in the car.
I appreciate your help but I am looking for help to reach a specific solution that will be best for me.

I assumed already that you were looking for a custom and cheap solution, that's why I gave you mine. Just for the possibility you will get an idea.
About the microphone.
Wired headsets with earphones and microphone are normally connected to the 3,5-jack.
I think the mic-input-connector is there and not in the USB connector of the N6.
The N6 is not that different compared with other smartphones.
There are adapters available Google '3,5 inch headset adapter'
You are right in that there are dedicated connections already at the jack, and that they would be easy to just splice leads onto a standard wired headset to extend to where I want the leads to go. Even if i need to add a signal booster to the mic line.
My wife has a usb headset that works fine with my phone though so I know the capability is there, as with audio out on a usb connection to a stereo.
She wont let me cut up her headset to see what goes where though and it takes a while to get one from china. I was hoping someone knew so I could use what I have on hand rather than spending anything, I am cheap.
Thanks for your help, i have used my phone for music and handsfree when it's just me in the car on short hops. It does work fine for that and as a portable music player anywhere not to loud without any problems.
Once again thank you.

You're welcome. It was nice to meet you.
Hello guys,
I have already installed an android tablet to my car (VW Golf VI). The headphone-jack sends the music to an external apmlifier in the trunk and the tablet is charged via usb. everything works really really good so far, the only missing part of the project is the streering wheel control. Do you have any solution to connect the tablet via bluetooth to the board canbus of the car, so that I can use the volume-buttons to control volume and select next/previous song? I would like to prefer a pre-confectioned cable like
https://www.amazon.de/Bluetooth-Aud...6150056&sr=8-2&keywords=vw+bluetooth+quadlock
or something similar, I do not want to code something.
do you have any solution for this idea?
regards,
Kai

That, or similar bluetooth-canbus interfaces.
If you're lucky, your car may only have one CAN bus, then you can just plug the dongle into the OBD2 port under the dash. If the steering wheel commands are on a separate CAN bus, then you may need to do some custom wiring to attach it.
And the software:

*I have not used or tested this, so I can't vouch for how well it works!
