Where is it the cheaper place to buy by internet. I live in Spain.
Is it work in PPC 2003?
Thank you
Please help
Expansys are too expensive. There is somthing cheaper for Ipaq to use with the xda. I only want a portable and little keyboard.
Thanks.
I got a great folding keyboard of eBay UK for 18 quid it came in from Singapore I expect he would sent to Spain,
Type in XDA and tick titles and descriptions, its a metalic one looks mighty cool mine arived today
from what i heard, (and experienced with ipaq GPS).
any hardware for ipaq wont realy work with xda
because tho the connection is the same, its rewired on the inside
but im sure, if you know what you're doin, can rewire the plug.
http://www.myxda.com/web/template/XdaAccessories.vm
well the one in the buttom should work with xda now that o2 are selling them
I have one (the thumbboard that is), but I should warn you it's a masterpiece of bad design. Everything about it is perfect, good size, good tactile feedback, but... all the keys are in the wrong place! There's an extra row below zxcvbnm above the space bar, and it renders the device useless.
XDA keyboard
I purchased the keyboard with buttons between the zxcvbnm row and the spacebar. I was used to the fantastic keyboard on the Danger Hiptop and wanted something similar for the XDA. THIS IS NOT IT. This keyboard is a piece of garbage. It's faster using the on-screen keyboard. The Fn key instead of the Shift key for using numbers? Bah! I hate it.
(vent mode off)
Now... I'm stuck with this US$80 wonder. I put the new ROM for Windows Mobile 2003 (http://www.yorch.net) and now cannot use the keyboard. It won't allow me to switch from IR and Serial to Keyboard in the settings app. Anyone know how I might hack this to get it to work (eg registry settings), or does anyone have a link to an updated driver?
Model is G3B0
Manufacturer is Darfon Electronics Corp
Software version is 1.8 build 1127
Thanks mucho

pictures for 2 accessories for qtek 2020 not sure if they work with xda /qtek 1010
the first if the said by people to be useless thumb one
Yep, that's the useless thumb pad. The bottom row of keys is Shift, Email, up, down, left, right, windows, ctrl (as you can't see it very clearly from the pic). This means that half the time you go to hit the space key, you end up hitting a cursor key, and the cursor keys themselves are useless in this layout - the keyboard doesn't disable the normal 5way pad, so why duplicate these keys??? as I've said before, this is a masterpiece of bad design.
Incidentally, it fits the XDA II, and indeed is being sold as an accesory for it, but I can't find a PPC2K3 driver for it? Anybody got one?
@ hyper
its called Spb Full Screen Keyboard
there are other ones, but i found this one on a FTP 4 free 8)
I had the HTC thumb keyboard and had system lockups due to the driver. I ended up sending the unit back. I like the SPB full screen keyboard for SMS and some editing.
Have not tried the second external keyboard!

Take a look at this Video of th TOuch Dual expecially the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tupk8MYLhMk
I think this the best dialer there is, if you notice it is basically the prefect Microsoft dialer with video button on it...
I'm not so much interested in the dialler, but the text entry methods available on the Touch Duals are also excellent, I believe there is 20 key style on-screen keyboard and also a T9 style on-screen keyboard. If these could be put onto the Kaiser I would be a happy man! The dial too would be a nice addition.
as i read on smarmania(dot)cz, there will be these keyboards available for htc devices through htc eclub at the end of october...
Is it not all about intall a application on WM6?

Awesome...Awesome to the MAX!
If they make these keyboards available on ALL devices that would be frickin' amazing...
even they will make it available only for touch, someone will earlier or later extract it, or you can download through htc eclub...
Check out a util called Phone Pad, i think this is like a T9 dictionary pad like normal phones.
Check this out...
Reported my msmobiles:
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/6772.html
Free until December 8th.
Has the dialer been released yet?
http://www.cootek.com/intro.html
These guys released a similar style on screen keyboard
It's free for a limited time (like December 31st 2007) or something
Download away
the Touch Dual is out, can anyone get the DIALER?

+1 for the dialer
Its way better than the one by default on most kaiser ROMs
(especially since it doesnt truncate names when SmartDialing)
Woow, looks nice; I am also really interested in this. The actual one is a little slow.
Is there any hope to get this amazing dialer??

no, and i am affraid if it ever will be released coz guys already extracted it from the roms and there is no need to do it by htc
this htc support is terrible
as for dialer - just wait some time and guys will extract it from some rom
I don't understand how HTC can provide a phone like the Kaiser (supposed to be high-end right ?) with such poor dialer.
It would make more sense to give same nice-looking tools that the Touch family is getting.

Out of curiousity why is the Kiaser phone dialer poor? Im not very impressed, but whats it lacking in your opinion?
yep. correct. what is nice no need to be the best
Easy : it's lacking lisibility
Any Windows Mobile 6 Standard do a much better job when it comes to SmartDialing...
Having a larger top window would definitely help (like on the screenshot)
That is precisely the reaso I use the Microsoft smart dialer and do away with the video call... But this one seems that it combines the Micrsoft smartdialer with Video call... Or it is based on the Microsoft Dialer, it does not matter but it is better. I have seen the Video dialer in the Toshiba G900 which is a Video dialer based on the microsoft WM6 smartdialer and it works much better then the HTC solution
it cost two bucks untill next week and is skinable and its bigger and its kinda nice. only complaint is that the sugestive text doesnt work correctly yet but its still pretty sexy here's some screen shots

I grabbed this today, and I'm quite impressed. I've been using Big Keys for a while, but they haven't gotten around to including user-dictionary support or auto-correction. This app is very nice, and its skinnable interface should be great for themers.
I also like the hold to access special characters feature, and guestures, those really help when trying to type fast. I only wish the up/down guestures would change capitalization, not hide the keyboard.
so what you think?
gonna have to make skins or create our own? or customize the new ime?

Is it just me or does the sound for the kepyboard not turn off. I go to the settings under local & text and the sound setting under better keyboard is not checked but It still makes sounds when I press the keyboard. What gives?
Android keyboard is turned off.
UPDATE:
I dont know how I did it but I got the sound to turn off.
only complaint is that in the browser, and you press menu-->go on the bottom of the keyboard the words "press and hold the left most word" cover most of it and even though it goes away when u press the bottom buttons, its still annoying

I'm gonna guess more expensive. I doubt they will charge for a week & then go free. It would more than likely go the other way.
Either way, I see no point in paying for a bigger keyboard when the HTC_IME & HTC_CIME are prefectly installable on all builds. I have both the Android & HTC_IME running perfectly on JF1.5
Sure this one is easier skinned than those but with a little work, the others can be skinned also. Its not hard, just a little time consuming. Just my 2 pennies

2 bucks for an app to change skin of keyboard is too much, don't get me wrong i live to customize and love open home but there's no way. The nes emulator was 2 dollars and that provides about 500 bucks worth of enjoyment.
They gave permission to use the skins freely if you want to rip them and use in your own keyboard. So 2$ for those who don't want to do the edits is pretty fair I think.

it's MUCH better than default, and isn't costing like "better" does..
what font is that in those pics in the OP??

That's it, I would like to know if anyone has try a stylus pen on ACE. I'm a drawer and painter and I would love to use the Sketchbook app with a pen but I don't know if that would be possible. I tried with a DIY one, that one was for iphone, and didn't work, so what do you think?
Make one with a finger touch ;-)
Sga having a capacitive touch screen only soft fingers touches respond...
[practice random acts of kindness and selfless acts of love]
Lol, thanx! I've been using that app with my finger. The thing is that I saw on ebay, amazon and so, stylus pens for galaxy ACE, but I don't know if it's scam or they truly work
I tried a 10€ capacitive stylus from a retail shop. I don't think you will find it very useful for painting, as it is has a 6mm diameter, but it does work and it will keep your screen clean of fingerprints. I had some trouble swiping, because the rubber tip feels a bit sticky, leading to false taps. Also, mine didn't last very long: after a month or so the rubber tip became too sticky. I know there are styli with cloth tips but I have yet to find one.
I've found several today on an hawker, one of these stylus work well for write or play but I think isn't suitable to draw..
well, if a stylus works on the galaxy note, i dont really see any reason why it shouldnt work on the ace. After all, one capacitive screen works the same way as the other, only the backlight differs(led, etc)

Ok! Thank you so much for your answers! So it works, no matter if it's not really really helpful for drawing but works anyway. You were very helpful, thanx again!!

I use this and works very fine:

Interesting!
I bought one from Dealextreme and you really have to push it against the screen to work. Otherwise it will leave a dotted line. It's similar to the other Chinese ones posted here.
I have an awesome idea use an ear bud and put some extra cotton on if an make it a little wet with water and Viola your home made stylus I'd ready.
it really worked and I even typed this message with it

He he..superb idea bro
I use my thumb as natural stylus
This suits for tab n note i think
the stylus's on ebay work just fine, but as someone else said, the tip is fairly large so for drawing dont expect much.
depends what drawing software you are using as well, if its one that supports pinch and zoom then you will get reasonable results, but again, never going to produce superb results.
But the ebay ones are about $2 so its not really money wasted. You can still use it for typing, playing games etc.
Received new Galaxy Tab 8.9 WiFi from Amazon..
Half screen is dimmer, there is a green tint at the conners and wtf is wrong with that keyboard? They must be joking with button layout like this?

Though it's probably still the thinnest and lightest ~9-10inch tablet on the market right now. Pretty cheap too. By the way I had galaxy tab 8.9 3G and it didn't have any of this nonsense. So I was wondering it's just one broken device, or tab 8.9 wifi version is a really cheap low quality model? Or maybe it's just Samsung, not the first or even second their device that have screen issues.
Looks like a French keyboard layout. It should be pretty obvious that the screen should not have a sharp brightness change halfway across, so that seems likely to be a hardware fault.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Obviously its working as intended, doesnt take a genius to see that
I just wondering to replace it with another WIFI version or upgrade to 3G, though I'm always using 3G tethering over wifi from my phone anyway.
I've got it from Amazon.co.uk, but it seems like a French version, though there wasn't a single mention about that. Anyway it's just a matter of flashing another ROM.

I'd be getting a new one from Amazon. That's really not good. You mention 'another rom', is the tab running stock in the photo? If so, definitely needs to be returned. If not, then try going back to stock and see if it goes away.
I think it's broken... :S
It could also be some unannounced 3D model and he forgot to use the glasses.
j/k
Seriously, send it back.
Actually, this layout is only used in Belgium (azerty). Something went wrong with first initialization, is pretty easy to solve in the settings.
The screen though, it's strange that it's exactly on 50%. Not good, send it back!
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
It's all stock. It's definitely a screen problem anyway, I've noticed even some burnin (google search button, chrome tabs on weather widget).
Try a last thing, go into recovery and see if the problem is still there
hahaha ,,,
Im curious how it will be if I rotate it :laugh::laugh:
Go back to the SAV
I've bought a new one on amazon.fr this month without any of your issues but (happiness?) the french azerty keyboard. I agree about the fact that the french keyboard isn't well designed but it works well and you can change it by swipe or another one like you wish.
Have you change the locale in parameters in order to change the keyboard mapping?
Warranty service replaced whole screen and even ROM version to Lithuanian. So it seems a pretty decent tablet now.
Though very slow because of Android 3.2, so I'll have to try something else maybe Cyanogenmod 10.

Don't use Samsung's widgets (they make the tablet crawl), and install ADW Launcher Ex, you'll notice a big improvement to start with.
Intro:
I ordered this keyboard Dec. 6 and received it Dec. 10. When i ordered the keyboard, the shipping was free. So, the price was 19.99.
I've only had the keyboard for a few days, so this review will be short but so far, it's been working flawlessly and seamlessly with my Nexus 7.
PURCHASE
Aesthetics:
The keyboard closely resembles a mac keyboard. It seems to be made of plastic, but the area surrounding the keys is a very good imitation of aluminum. In contrast with the white chiclet keys, it definitely looks snazzy and not cheap at all. it's quite thin and low profile, but not small. It's not too much smaller than my laptop keyboard. I have rather large hands w/long fingers and i have no problems typing on this keyboard.
Function:
It was VERY simple to get up and running. It does require two AAA batteries that aren't included, so be sure you have some handy. After putting the batteries in. all you do is turn it on and sync it with your Nexus 7 bluetooth. Just follow the on screen prompt and you'll be set up in seconds.
Very easy to use, and the syncing is seamless. By that, i mean that it's the equivalent of typing on your laptop keyboard. There's no delay at all.
Also, all of my keys work perfectly except for the Home key. But, that may be due to my running a different rom.
Build Quality: The keyboard feels very sturdy and well made. No loose ends, creaks, or uneveness to be found. The keys feel firm to the press, and none of them stick. I have no doubt this baby will hold up for a long time.
Cons:
It didn't come with a case. This isn't a deal breaker, since it was 20$. So for the price, i'm VERY satisfied. but still, a carrying case would have been nice.
Also, like i mentioned above. the Home key does not seem to work, Though, this may be an individual issue since i'm not running a stock rom, but instead PA with Phablet enabled.
Overall: 4.8/5. Sturdy build, beautiful look, and seamless syncing all for right under 20$. Definitely would order from Anker again.
Also, it works with not only Android, but iOS as well.
Photos (pardon the phone camera quality and poor lighting):

So what function keys that is has that you confirmed do work?
^^ Well, the only ones working for are the volume buttons and play/pause button. But, like i said, i haven't read complaints from other Android users who purchased this keyboard regarding the home keys. So, it must be because of my rom. I run PA with the tablet interface which could very obviously affect the home key, brightness, etc. I'll take a thorough look at the Amazon reviews to see if there are any widespread complaints.
[Sent from my Nexie7. Pardon errors.]
Hi EboniLM: I just recieved this keyboard for christmas to use with my galaxy note 2. It works great so far (I'm using it to type this) but I'm trying to figure out how to set up shortcuts. I'm running stock Jelly Bean. Have you found any good info on setting up shortcuts? I'm not sure where to look in the OSsettings or if I'd be better off running a custom ROM like PA, etc. Thanks so much for your help and review!
Is this battery operated or rechargeable.
It is battery operated.
And no I don't know of any solutions for the hotkey issue, as I haven't looked for any. It doesn't bother me since the hotkey that work are the only ones I need lol
But I'll look in my settings to see if the shortcuts/hotkeys need to be set up. I never even thought of that.
