Widescreen projection TV & the black bars - Off-topic

I went to Costco (huge US warehouse-style retailer with everything from electronics to tools to food to car stuff) yesterday just to pick up some groceries, and ended up with this:

The manual warns about leaving constant images on the screen, including dark bars from having normal TV centered and not in the expanded mode. Is this for real? Seems like black bars would be, by definition, a non-image, right? Scary warnings in the manual though. Anybody know how real they are?
The expanded mode is OK most of the time, just a little weird. It expands stuff that is off-center, so the effect is less noticeable, but sometimes you really see it. Really ruins your porn when the actresses off-center looks like a Jenny Craig "before" model.

Moto display pixelated

Hi guys,
I have got the following problem since i have updated to marshmallow. The icons in Moto Display have lost their sharpness and are very pixelated:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It seems like the anti aliasing is turned off for the icons?
This is so since the Lollipop, amoled screens have the ability to trigger only the pixels needed for displaying certain content.
In the case of Moto screen, serves to economizare energy.
Sorry 4 my english!
Yes, but look at the numbers. The numbers are sharp, but the icons arent. This is how it looked like on lollipop:
That's something you may be just noticing now.
Icon resolution has always been more pixelated in moto notifications. Since kit kat. It's too reduce battery consumption. I've noticed it since day one.

What is this dark rectangle on back of Q6?

I picked up a Q6 finding the back plastic cover has this rectangular cutout. You can't see it in the photo, as I need to catch the light at the correct angle to see it, but the phone has a darker rectanglular area to match. It seems to be more under/in the plastic than on top of it. I haven't opened it up yet to see.
My initial guess is that it was an area marked out to mount something but, I don't know, that just seems like going to too much trouble?
Does anyone know what this is?

That's where the IMEI/barcode label is located on the back of the phone.

smartphone screen suffering from artifacts in dark secnes (macroblocking)

Is this normal display behavior?
I have seen some of this artifacts on my LG LCD IPS monitor, but on the phone i can see it much more.
Don't have another phone with amoled scren, and was wondering, if anyone can tell me if this is normal for the screen:

This is from the most recent batman trailer,
I also notice some artifacts on other displays, but on the s20 FE i can see it much more.
Can you guys also see it?
It has more artifacts because the amoled panel was much more contrast?
Help pls
Yes, I think the screen is just allowing you to see more of the compression losses in the video.
the trailer looked fine to me, I agree compressed video will produce more artifacts. if you watched it through a browser with a data saving option that could be the cause.

Iluminated back

Pretty simple. Check out the back of the phone in the dark with the flashlight on. At least on the white s21 it looks nominally cool.
Oooo, any chance that you can somehow snag a picture of the back of your phone while it's got the flashlight on? I won't be getting my S21 for another week or two =/
Only took the bottom half, kind of hard to take a photo with a light blasting you.

Very cool. Never had a white phone and opted for it for ****es n' giggles. This only adds some fun. Thanks!
I have the color phantom dark and it looks at the edges really cool with the flashlight on
I have phantom black Ultra and doesn't do that sadly.
