Bluetooth Stack Extraction -- Please Help - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

How do I get the bluetooth files off another PDA2k?
I have the Bluetooth for Windows CE BT-PPC/CE Version 1.0.0 Build 2200 on my I-Mate PDA2K. IMate is completely useless as far as an upgrade.
The Verizon XV6600WOC has the same bluetooth stack as mine, but says 2400. It has NONE of the bluetooth problems that I have.
I really need your guys help in telling me how to get the bluetooth files off it so I can put them on mine.
If it works, then it is the perfect "patch" for all I-Mate PDA2K users.

I wish I could help, Ed. I honestly have no clue. Anyone out there willing to help out?

Ed, have you checked this out? http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/XDAtools

Just posting to keep this thread current and at the top of the page
Can anyone provide assistance on how to extract the Bluetooth stack from a Blue Angel to a format which can be inserted onto another device?
If what's being discussed here is true, the BT stack in Verizon's Blue Angel could be the solution to the BT problems with the other models like PDA2k, MDA III, etc.
Thanks!

Ed, check out this thread and the other thread referenced inside it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13590
Although the versions will probably be different, the process for extracting the BT files may be the same.
Hope it helps!

Progress
I am getting another XV6600WOC on December 15th maybe.
As of right now, I will not have access to other one at this point.
I was able to get all but 3 files off the device.
BTCESTACK.DLL
BTCEPROFILES.DLL
BTPANMANAGERCE.EXE
I will post the attachements in the BT MDAIII (Qtek 9090) thread.

Please e-mail to me too.

Hi all,
Why using your private email address? Please post that patch on a public site, so everyone can use it!

Bluetooth stack
The upgrade will not help at all....
However......
I got my boss the Verizon XV6600WOC and it has the same Bluetooth stack just version 2400 instead of 2200.
What stack versions are you guys working with?
Now I just need to rip the bluetooth files out of it. If i find any success in getting his bluetooth stack version on to mine, I will post the files and instructions here.
BTW: His stack HAS to be better since we both have a Jabra Freespeak 250 and I have a HBH-200 and his bluetooth headsets work flawlessly with absolutely zero crackling or interference
It's not worth posting... but here it is.
ed, yes! get his build 2400! that would absolutely rock. I've heard great things about it.
Roadblock
I dont have any tools to extract ROMS, files, etc. from Blue Angel's or Harriers
Before my PDA2K I had an SX56 from Siemens, now THAT I can do just about anything with at this point.
I need the tools to:
Save the ROM and extended ROM with Activesynch and to be able to extract the files from it
Just posting to keep this thread current and at the top of the page

Progress
I have good news and I have bad news and then I have some more good news, but not today.
Good News - I was able to get a lot of the files off the XV6600WOC and some of the extended rom cabs.
Bad News - 3 files are protected somehow and I cannot copy them with the device on. BTCESTACK.DLL, BTCEPROFILES.DLL,BTPANMANAGERCE.EXE
Delayed Good News - There is a good chance that I might be getting an additional XV6600WOC unit that I can do a proper rom dump on and post it here on the 15th.
I will post 2 attachements. One is the bluetooth files, the other is some of the extended rom cabs after I unlocked it. I was not able to get the unit in my hands long enough to get them all, the guy had to leave. Also, a proper rom dump was not possible, since he had all his programs and data installed.
Hope these files help somewhat.
Extended Rom Cabs for XV6600WOC
Here are some of the extended rom cabs
Awesome. Thanks for getting what you could, Ed. I will play with them a little later tonight. Thanks again!

Off BT.
Move BTTrayCE from /Windows/StartUp folder to another location.
Reset.
Copy the 3 files.
Relocate BTTrayCE back to /Windows/StartUp folder.
Reset.
Hope this works Bro.
I copied the bt files you posted to the c:\windows directory.
For a quick 2 minutes test I noticed the phone still turns on every 30-60 seconds or so after I make a call via the bt headset. We may need those 3 other files (if not more) after all.
ok, I downloaded http://www.asukal.jp/BT_Headset.CAB which replaced the files you were unable to extract with the bt 1.6 stack. So far so good. I will test it and let you guys know.

Regarding the files you got out of the above CAB file:
Are they the same version as the files you couldn't extract from the XV6600WC? If not, this could cause big problems.
Just a friendly warning; let us know how it goes.
nah, the cab above is not the same version. it worked none-the-less. i seemed to have gotten more auto turn ons with the cab, so i now reverted back to my pda2k's original 2200 stack with the verizon files he posted above. I definately notice the phone syncs with the bt headset much quicker, and so far hasn't lost connectivity with it. I still hear static when im only 5 ft or so away from it. (its the sony ericsson 660) I didn't get this with my old moto headset.

O2 Asia release 'Official' Bluetooth patch for XDAIIs ..

As it's only available for O2 Asia customers then I cannot see the files / nor get at it ...
Can anyone oblige / test ?

Prelimanary test are good. I'm guessing the patch is exactly the same as the one posted for the Pda2k from Imate, it is build 3500. SO far no issue with my sony hbh-660 headset and no issues yet with my TomTom Navigator USA bluetooth either. So for now, I am very pleased with the results, but I am going to give it one full day, especially with the headset before I can completely be satisifed. Adios.

Extraction
Anyway to extract the files from this setup?
Good question. I know it's a setup.exe pretty much that kicks off the install process via active synch, then seems to place the temp files in Flash memory, thus requiring the soft reset. Not sure there is a way to capture the files being written to temp space, but I am sure there is someone on this forum that can do it
If you run the installation without connecting your XDA, you will find the cab file in:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Bluetooth headset upgrade patch for Xda IIs
Interesting that with the first imate posted bt patch the 3500 version which was withdrawn, one file showed build 3000 all others 3500. this O2 patch makes all file versions 3500 so is a final release and later than the imate patch.
Imate say they have a new final patch coming soon which will prob be the same as o2, since these all come from htc.
Patch seems good so far.
3500 Patch seems to be good
Downloaded the 3500 patch yesterday and installed in my i-mate PDA2k, certainly seems to have fixed the main BT headset problems (Sony Ericsson HBH-20). Thanks to those who take the time to post these things. A good Christmas present.
not so good. again scrasheesssss into the headset.
Waiting for another patch
hey this is the same old patch that was released by QTEK 3 weeks ago so whats new in it. I have checked both the patches they are both the same, not even a single file differs. But as always O2 is the last to deliver patches. It is very slow in providing updates, all other operators have provided new rom updates butO2 is still waitng dont now for what.
THE LAST TO DELIVER PATCHES????
Imate didn't release this patch for almost 4 days after O2 and before they had a 3000 build release. Tell the Tmobile MDA people, Siemens SX66 and all the CDMA versions of the phone with crippled bluetooth who have had no "official" update.
Great that Qtech first and early but O2 were second when all the rest are still waiting.
ONLY qtech has released a full upgrade rom. No others have.
Of course the patch will be the same, its not the operator like Qtech or Imate that makes these things, its HTC.
Patch Not Working in SX66
I dl'ed the patch into my SX66, and was hoping - no PRAYING - that it would help the BT issues..
My Jabra 250 sounds just the same..damnit!! (grin!)
Any other ideas, folks?
BTW, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, needless to sat after further testing of the O2 xdaiis patch, I am still having issues with my Sony headset. I am connected for 4 hours and then all of the sudden the pairing just drops and I have to reconnect the headset which is very frustrating, so it sems this latest patch has some issues. NOt sure what to do now. I have already sent O2 support several e-mails with just a standard canned response, which is total BS
The Imate patch is way way better
Well I have tried the XDA IIs patch and I must say it sucks a.. The Imate patch which is a lower bluetooth stack build is way better. With the O2 patch the XDA IIs still randomly turns on. Garbage!!! Come on O2 release a new rom with media player 10 and a bluetooth fix.
Michael
No problems here...Motorola 850 works PERFECT. The official BT patch works great...must be either your headset or 3rd party software
Where...
can I get the imate patch...and is it the whole rom or just hte BT stack> Many thanks;' perhaps THAT will work in my SX66 and my son's O2
Guest, I have two XDA II's with a Motorola 820 bluetooth headset, and with all native apps installed and on the O2 bluetooth patch release it turns on randomly. It does not with the I mate patch so, the O2 release is garbage. Thats why Imate pulled they same bluetooth stack build that O2 released. There is issues with it.

Verizon Blue Angel - Rom Upgrade

hi everyone.
i have the 6600 from verizon. i would like to know where can i upgrade to the rom version that will eliminate the bluetooth headset problem. and possibly open up bluetooth to everything. if there is one out there, is it stable?
thanks
I would think that you need to apply the BT Patchs.
The problem is that I dont think anybody has seen Virizon exteneded rom. so its hard to see what you have and thus what you need.
Your device is has no sim so you will have to keep the Radio version that you have.
Your Device seems to show the same CE (windows version) as the rest of ours so there is not much point in upgrading that.
So the only thing that is left it the exteneded rom.
Can you upload it and one day some body in the rom kitchen can have a look at it.

WIDCOMM on 8125

Before you even start tellin me that this question has been posted many times, read through...
I know we went through this few times but I just haven't found the clear answer.
The question is simple: can I use WIDCOMM on 8125? Or maybe someone knows a better way of communication between 8125 and LEGO NXT brick?
Any help will be appreciated.
Many thanks...
Your problem won't be the bluetooth stack. I don't believe that the NXT software can run on WM. If it does, then it should be a simple matter to pair with the LEGO device.
I know that NXT soft won't run on PPC... What I'm trying to do is to send BT message from NXT to the phone and vice versa. I know it works with simple Sony Ericsson, yet it does not want to work with my 8125.
The NXT box clearly says that the NXT brick supports WIDCOMM stack only.
My phone found the brick and the only available service is COM port. When the NXT sends the message it gets an error. When I do it all the way around ie. I pair NXT with the phone I get the same message...
Simply because I'm curious I'll ask: does anyone own or have acces to play with LEGO NXT?
you might have better luck using a more open version of BT with a phone such as the 6515 by iPaq, or the upgraded version. I've noticed that some of the BT options on the 8125 seem to be hidden, or restricted, unlike the iPaq versions (more protocols show up when paring, etc, with the HP). I'm not sure if Cingular is pulling a VZW move here with restricting BT profiles included in their phone... because that would be aweful.
That might explain your WIDCOMM issues.
the newer hps also use the widcomm stack I believe
Indeed. I've had HP 6515 and it did have WIDCOMM. However, I couldn't live with 240x240 screen resolution...
I've found some clues pointing that there is a way to somehow hack the registry and upload some crazy files in 8125 so that it uses WIDCOMM. However, the place I found it warned about some legal issues connected with this... (not that I care about it that much  )
Anyone has some more clues?
Then what I would say is that the widcomm stack on the 8125 is rather burried, or non-existant in the usable format that you'll need. If you do find a way to modify it so I can use things such as FTP File Transfer across BT, that would be excellent to post, especially if it could be incorp into a cab for easy installation.
Please, keep me informed of your discoveries - I'll see what I can dig up but you seem to know where to look more so than I.
As a former Treo700 user, I've followed the Widcomm transplant threads with some interest. However, like cold fusion, some have reported wild success but the results have been hard to duplicate....
However, this may have changed by now since I ditched my 700 for an 8125 almost 6 months ago.

AD2P...

I have an 8125 with Congular's/HTC's 2.25 ROM, and just got an HT 820.
Neither my Mac nor the 8125 have AD2P, and these past few days I've been doing a lot of researching. ROMs, Reg hacks, people wanting a CAB-install of AD2P, etc. Though all of the threads I looked at, especially here, are a year old. No response from the HowardForum thread I made ; I should have come to XDA first.
So, has there been any luck in another phone's ROM's AD2P profile being able to be installed like an app, or a Registry edit that can 'add'/enable it ? I found a Reg edit for the Dash to enable BT Stereo, but there were no corresponding items in my 8125's registry.
If the ROM is the only way, what would be the most stable, AD2P (, better than 2.25) ROM ? And it's full file name...
This is rather annoying ; theses headsets sound great, plugged into my computer with wire, but I can't walk from my computer – the intention I had for them ! Some time I will have to buy a BT dongle for my Mac, and hopefully I don't have to re-flash some new ROM to 8125, but I have a trip this weekend where I'd like to wirelessly use these, so, so be it...
And, while slightly off note, be there any Crossbow ROMs that support AD2P, and work well with WM5 applications ? (I don't know much about Crossbow, so maybe it's best if I stay from it, also for it's illegal... I'm assuming discussions are allowed though, but if not, just tell.)
I've got Crossbow Underground for a faw days, and it's working propertly.
Also I've got the Jabra 620s BT Headset. It's working even better on WM6 rather than WM5.
If you want to use the BT Headset on a WM5 ROM. You'll maybe need to search for "tornado" along the wizard forum. This works well to get the wireless stereo working.
I've heard goodof Underground ; maybe I will try it.
Is the 'Tornado' another ROM, or some hack ? I'll search it...

Some additional files and register edits to upgrade to AKU2.2 or just enabling AD2P or something
Thanks for the help ; the Tornado patch/mod I can't and don't feel like trying to get it working, so I'm looking at Crossbow.
I got the Tornado mod to work – halfway. I copied the non-CAB files where it said to, and then went here to download a Wizard-compatible CAB file. Now it works.

Tried the last option which is working so enough to install only that .cab
