Extended Rom Editor - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Has anyone written and Extended Rom Editor for the Blue Angle similar to ER2003Edit on the Himalaya?
Or is the only way to update the extrom on the device? Therefore if applying an Imate Rom to an Orange device, would I have to install the whole Imate Rom and then edit the extrom on the device back to being an Orange one?
Any information appreciated.
Cheers
Roger

ROM Update: is this possible?

Greetings all. I am new here, but hopefully I will be able to contribute in some small way to the community. After reading about the wiki, ROM kitchen, and cooking, I have a few small questions that will help me jump into the waters and help out.
I have a new PDA2K on Cingular here in the U.S. that came with ROM 1.22.00 WWE Radio 1.06.00 and EXT ROM 1.22.162 WWE.
I would like to update to the most recent ROMs for the Radio, primary, and extended ROM and still retain the new version of KSE Truefax 2.09 and possibly other software that came as part of the package from I-mate.
When cooking a ROM: Is it possible to retain any of the software from your own ROM and aggregating it with the best radio ROM, make a unit that is truly updated in every way possible? If I took elements from the "i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP" release that is on the FTP site and added the 1.08 or 1.10 radio ROM, would I have certain components that are in Arabic or is that concept misleading?
My point is: I think will I lose the software that came with the unit when I cook a ROM to update the unit and I would like to keep it as I paid for it in my purchase price and I would like to use components from other language ROMs but am concerned I will have components in my phone after the update that are in a language I cannot read.
Please guide me if you have a moment.

I had hoped that I had covered all of this is wiki, but it seems not.
your deivce has 3 parts
1) the os version and its language
2) the extneded rom
3) the radio
each of these can be updated one at a time or all together.
1) The os part is based on the windows version and its build, if you can find a versiont that works with our tools you can update that. In this case the 1.31 arabic in WWE is a good choice.
2) the Extneded rom is based around the applicatons that the porvider gives you as well as the provider customization. Here you can pick and what you want and the term that we use on this site is cooking.
You will need to flush your exteneded rom and cook a new one with what you feel you want (like applications) and you feel you need (as in porider customisation)
3) The radio is based on the type of device you have and in your case can be updated to 1.08.00 as we have yet to find a copy of the 1.10.00
So your issue of the fax software is solved in the cooking of the exteneded rom. allas the files have gone as some nice person has trashed 2 months of work and deleted them. however the 1.22 kitchen is again around so you can get what you need from there or from your device. copy them into your exteneded rom, edit the config.txt and perform a hard reset.
So to keep the stuff you have you need to save the cabs out of your extended rom, update the device (os and radio), flush the exteneded rom and cook your own rom (all covered in the kitchen).
You will do fine and if you have a problem just post it.
Answer
This is exactly the sort of definitive and succinct answer I needed. Your simple clarification has helped me and will no doubt help others. Thank you, again.

WHOAH!
Am I reading this correctly? So I can pretty much update to whatever ROM version and radio version I want, regardless of language? Anything I need to look out for in particular? I've got the upgrade bug now! Got my BT upgraded to 3900.
ROM 1.22.00 WWE
Radio 1.06.00
extROM 1.22.162 WWE.
How far can I go in an English version? Or does it matter so long as my windows version is English?
Thanks again!
Sam

Upgrading & Stickies

Hi folks! Is there any chance of getting some stickies on here with Upgrade stuff in them? While it's fun to spend 4 hours searching the forums I think it may save time to have everything in one place
My current Wizard (MDA Vario flavour) details are:-
ROM Version 1.3.2.2 ENU
ROM Date 38624
Radio Version 01.04.10
Protocol Version 4.0.13.17
ExtROM Version 1.3.2.102
However I've decided to stay up-to-date with all the software on it. As far as I can tell the sequence I need for upgrading and reflashing etc is:-
Unlock CID
Radio ROM
ROM
Extended ROM
As I'm on T-Mobile (UK) I'll need to retain all my settings for the network so does that mean I specifically have to re-flash with the T-Mobile ROM stuff or can I choose Qtek 9100 and iMate K-Jam ROMs and then add my settings in after? I know I can't use XDA Mini or SPV M3000 ROMs as their network-specific like my MDA Vario but just wondering about the others?
Any suggestions for versions etc?

WM5 and O2 Ext. Rom

I've upgraded to Ivan 3.3 WM5 but I still want to use the O2 Ext. Rom from their latest update - I like the O2 Active interface.
Is there anyway I can extract it if I downgrade back to 2003SE then save it to mem card? And then just install the CAB file once I'm back upto 2005.
Cheers, Scott
Many programs are Version specific (i.e they work on 2003 but not on WM5)
I will try to download and etract the extended rom for the latest O2 rom and see which ones work on WM5 for you
I cant seem to extract the extended rom properly or install it to my device, could someone running the latest O2 rom upload the extended rom to the FTP?
Hello, try this file here:
wat are the updates exactly with o2 extended rom...please screen shot or explain.

POST UPDATE
Hi guys!
I have replaced the cab (Please, MDAUserIII, replace the previous files for the new one) because it was a mistake in the registry. The camera button didn't work. I opened the configuration cab and I realized that "\Windows\AppButtons" directory was set as "\Windows\BoutonsApp" (as in the French version of WM2k3). I have corrected this mistake. Now everything it's working fine.
Two weeks ago, I sent my SPV M2000 to be repaired (broken screen) at Cirma Electronics (official Qtek and Orange repair dealer in France) near Bordeaux. They have returned my unit with this new version installed.
That's it. Enjoy ;-)
being an orange france BA user, could you possibly go to www.orange.fr log in using your details and download the whole shipped exe (including radio and CE images) to share with us?
Midget_1990
Hi Midget_1990!
Orange France web site is really awfull for updates. The latest update you can find is the following:
http://fteb.orange.fr/monmobile/faq_spv2000/RUU_2.2_OrangeFR_v5.40.2.223_ship.exe
and it's intended ONLY for French versions...
You only can get updates in English for Corporate users. These updates are never published in their site. That's the reason I made a backup copy.
Sorry, mate.
Regards.
Replaced the file and now downloading the 1.40 rom.
ArtZ
Can you please give us the MS Build nr of this 1.42 rom
ROM and EXTROM versions
MDAIIIUser,
I got back my unit from the repair service with ROM Version 1.42.00 WWE ans the Operator version 5.42.1.179
I have also tried the Operator version 5.42.1.179 with ROM Version 1.40.00 WWE and it works fine also. Although, this Entended version WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY with versions in other languages, because the Windows CE installation paths are not the same.
So guys, if you have a SPV M2000 with ROM 1.42.00 WWE or 1.40.00 WWE, this is an excellent Extended ROM, but if you have a localized Windows ROM (ie. French, German, Spanish...), you shouldn't use.
The ROM takes the full 16Mb ROM storage. I asume Orange's choice to have only ONE configuration CAB is due to the limitation of 16Mb ROM storage.
I haven't tried the French version available at Orange France Web site http://fteb.orange.fr/monmobile/faq_spv2000/RUU_2.2_OrangeFR_v5.40.2.223_ship.exe , because I don't want French ROMs. Besides, this ROM seems not to have java included, because there was not available place in the Extended ROM for the java CAB (someone wrote that in another forum).
