Help!! there's so many upgrades available for our phones in their different guises, but what would be the best update for my UK Orange M2000, currently I have the following device info...
Orange SPV M2000 (PH20B)
ROM 1.12.22 WWE
Ext ROM 1.12.139 WWE
Radio 1.04.00
Protocol 1337.38
Windows Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
Any help would be appreciated!!
Well I currently have the following:-
Orange SPV M2000 (PH20B)
ROM 1.22.00 WWE
Ext ROM 1.22.557 WWE - cooked
Radio 1.06.02
Protocol 1337.38
Windows Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
This gave me a vast improvement in bluetooth stability.
It's built using BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP, then unlocked and updated the ExtRom to put in some Orange bits, and a couple of other utilities. Then updated the splash screens with something non-QTek.
If anyone has the orginal Orange splash screens, I'd love to put them back.
Cheers
Roger
Hi Roger,
Sounds great, any chance you could post a copy of your cooked cab? If you post instructions, I will try to extract the Orange splash screens from my current M2000 for you.
Thanks
Cheers
Nick
OK so here's what I did.
I used BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe. However this seems to have disappeared off the FTP site. If anyone desperately needs it I can repost this evening. However this should do the job:-
http://www.qtek.se/files/BA_WWE_BP_12200_169_10602_SHIP.zip
I then extracted these by running the file until it gets to the point saying 'Welcome to the device Software Update Utility'. Then copied the files out of the temp directory e.g. 'C:\Documents and Settings\######\Local Settings\Temp\pft66.tmp' to a safe location.
Then copied this utility ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/xda3nbftool.exe into the same directory and created a batch file called Change.bat in that directory with the following contents:-
Code:
xda3nbftool -x ms_.nbf ms_.nba 0x20040522
xda3nbftool -x nk.nbf nk.nba 0x20040521
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nbf radio_.nba 0x20040523
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG001 ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG001 nk.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG001 radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u NK.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u Radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -x ms_.nba ms_.nbf 0x20040522
xda3nbftool -x nk.nba nk.nbf 0x20040521
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nba radio_.nbf 0x20040523
del *.nba
pause
After that I ran BaUpgradeUt.exe from that directory. This performs the update, it wipes everything from the device, and can take a while to run. It install ROM 1.22.00, Radio 1.06.02 and ExtRom 1.22.557. I would guess that if you use the _169_ file listed above the ExtRom would be 1.22.169.
So, since this does not contain the right customisations for Orange, I cooked a set of cabs based on my orginal 1.12.139, adding in new bits that appeared in 1.22.557, mainly wireless and bluetooth updates as far as I can see. I have also removed MMS, since my company won't pay for it and it justs uses up space. I have added the Extended Rom Unlocker for obvious reasons. My rom is here ftp://xda:[email protected]_Extended_Roms/M2000 - Cooked - 1.22.557.zip.
I installed the Extended Rom Unlocker initially through normal methods - ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/ExtendedROMUnlockerM2000.arm.CAB - then deleted contents of ExtRom on PDA and re-added mine. Then hard reset again to get my install.
Job nearly done now. I have now got my ExtRom, but with QTek splash screens, which I can't really live with. So I grabbed a couple of pictures someone had posted and used the NB_Image_Converter ftp://xda:[email protected]/Splashviewer/nb_image_converter_859_418.exe to convert the jpg's to nb's. I copied these to the Windows directory on the PDA and then ran MDA_Bootimage_Changer2 - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Splashviewer/MDA3_bootimage_changer2.CAB on the PDA.
All done.
However I have applied some updates extracted from this ExtRom :
ftp://xda:[email protected]_Ext_ROM_122170_WWE_AZERTY_France.rar
If I remember correctly they all relate to bluetooth. One of them (I'm sorry I don't know which) added the audio and keyboard profiles. I don't know if they work since I don't have the accesories to try them. They were, OEM_BA_11230401_WWE.sa.CAB, Default_BTsearchTime.sa.CAB and BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate.CAB, in that order.
All in all, it works quite well. I used to reset 5/6 day. Now it's probably every other day.
Hope this helps.
Roger
With regard extracting spash screens, I'm guessing you need the original ms_.nbf. I tried following this procedure http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=151&PN=1, but didn't have a big enough SD card.
As to how to get the spashes from the nbf file, I'm sure there are wiser people than me here. Hopefully one will answer.
Cheers
Roger
The Splash are in fact part of the ext Rom, the cab is called ??customizing.cab (well most of the time).
The screens are part of the file set and are called splash1 splash2.
There is a UK rom on the server which I have not looked at.
On the french one it seemed that that default screen was a generic Windows one and I would think a Small 1*1CM Orange banner was also loaded.

Good peace of work.
Feel like helping out in the Exteneded Rom Kitchen.
You could have a better look at the orange original UK rom and post what you find and also update the spread sheet.
(I think it might also intrest you when it comes to making your own)

Thanks for your posting. I have upgraded mine now. This is more detailed than those posted from what User I forgot.
I've posted the Orange UK bits into the extended rom kitchen area, under Orange UK. I've had a scan through all of them with WiCE CAB Manager, and can't find any .nb files there. Closest cab with that name is OrangeUK_Customization_0903.CAB but that seems to be registry updates.
Code:

I had a look at your spreadsheet, and couldn't quite understand it. I'll have anothet look and see if I can make sense.

Thanks for your help, I have sent you a PM

Got me interested!
Sure Cant find and Splash either, not in any of the Orange_*
Tell me is it possible that you come up with a default Windos type screen?
Like in the French version?
Is it possible that yoo have a small Orange symbol on that screen?
What is PVPlayer_Eng_AAC.2577.CAB?
Looks like it also makes other folders under programs
Anyway orange UK does more changes than I have ever seen.
BA_OEM_PA_STK.sa.CAB This smells like a Wireless manager upgrade.
I know this is gonna sound daft, but how could I for example change the contents of the Qtek 1.22 ext rom, and put in their place upgrades/patches etc so that i don't have to keep adding them each time i hard reset?
What im trying to say is how do i customise the extended rom? What proggy do i use to open and/or modify the nbf ext rom file ?
Daft no way.
This is what I worked out
Load what ever you want os Ext Rom and radio.
You now have let us say 1.31.00 13.100 1.060.
You booted, your happy.
Then unlock the Extenede rom with the toll
Go in to it.
Edit your config sys take out all as in all Cabs
Leave the rest Enable / disable Rst.
LOCK and HIDE
Hard Reset.
Have a look at your programs, Album should be gone
Now lun lock the rom again.
Take out the dam reset and enable disable.
Load what ever cabs you want
Make suure cab a does not downgrade cab b.
Fix the config.sys
When you feel like it run autoexec run.
For hardret you need the rom locked and hiden.
Any way that what I did and it worked for me.
At the moment I just load cabs by hand as I cant afford to go through the hardreset andlose all my apps.
So Got you lost ??
Managed to get 1.22.00 on and sorted out my Ext ROM, thanks to all peeps who gave their time to explain to me how to do it.
Is it the same process to go backwards? For example if this ROM wasn't stable, can I go back to a 1.12.00 ROM?
I've got the spv-m2000 and there is no orange boot up splash it just says windows 2003.
still on original rom
radio 1.04.00
wwe 1.12.22
D 1337.35
Now I think back, it probably just had a standard Windows splash. I've got some generic Blue Angel/HTC ones for now.
PVPlayer_Eng_AAC.2577.CAB is a PacketVideo player. Not used it, don't know whether it is any good.
Cheers
Roger
Roger, just tried to install your MDAIII splash screen changer and I clicked on it, it installed.. but I can't seem to find anything anywhere which will run the proggy...could you please shed some light on this.
BTW thanks for guiding me through upgrading my M2000.... didn't take long at all!
Follow the process at the top of this thread.
No program to run, just soft reset.
Why is the Extromunlocker in french?
What do
Bloquer ecriture, Afficher, cacher, debloquer ecriture mean?
I originaly had the XDAII unlocker but it will make the ext rom visible but wont unlock it
I have now got
ROM Ver 1.22.00 WWE
ROM Date 10/22/04
Radio Version 1.06.02
Protcol version 1337.38
extrom version 1.22.557 WWE
I would like to change some of the rom back to ORange from QTEK
Cheers
I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=2357 unlocker... its in english.
I clicked on unhide, then unlock, then soft reset. The ext rom is now free to modify!

Based on what little we all know about the 1.31 WWE release
and the questions about the radio that keep on poping up in the wrong topics here is a new topic.
I would think that the radio can be replaced with the 1.06.2.
Now I have no idea if you are going to get county code errors nor do I know what your carrier is as the places that I would look dont have that info.
If it was mine then this is what I would try, if it works fine, if not then post your results here and we can look at them
Step 1
Download a upgrade that has the 1.06.02 radio in it that we know works.
http://cyberb0b.ggu-squad.org/share/BA_FRA_BelDT_12202_558_10602_Ship.exe
I got that info out of:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=84107#84107
Step 2
This is a Exe file so run zip or rar on it and extract the files to a new dir.
Step 3
Delete both the ms_.ndf (os) and the nk.nbf (Extended Rom)
Which will leave you only the radio_.nbf and the other files
Step 4
Place you device in the cradel, add power to it.
Step 5
Run the BaUpgradeUt.exe
If all goes well you will come to a screen that reports your current version and allso reports that it will install 1.06.02.
If you get that far you are doing great, contiue
If not then I would think that you need to run the fix bat as follows.
Step 6
Get a copy of the Tool xda3nbftool
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/xda3nbftool.exe
Step 7
Put it in the same dir as your radio_.ndf
Step 8
Based on
PH20B 0 B WWE E O2ASI001 1.31.00 0 0 1.31.920 1.02.00 02.00
Click to collapse
Create a Bat file caled fixradio.bat It would read:
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nbf radio_.nba 0x20040523
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -so O2ASI001 -sl WWE radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u Radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nba radio_.nbf 0x20040523
del *.nba
Click to collapse
Step 8
Run it and CHECK THAT YOU GET NO ERROR (Dos window open)
Step 9
If all goes well you will come to a screen that reports your current version and allso reports that it will install 1.06.02.
If you get that far you are doing great, contiue
If not then post what info you can.
Step 10
And as a personal favor edit! or post your results under:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15510&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
If you have come across a version that is not listed
the format is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=81245#81245
Just add next to your shipped CE = 1.31.00 the windows Version and build.
Edit 25/01/04 based on feeback Bebbo THANKS for seeing that.
I have now a version 1.31.00 Main ROM and 1.06.02 Radio ROM!
I have had to alter the Ext ROM (Loads the one in the Arabic package first but I unlock and replace with updated versions of s/w and remove Arabic Stuff!)
By the way I have the following updates if anyone is interested in me posting them (Don't ask what the fixes are though):
MMS_2.0.0.16_BA_1123.CAB - MMS Messaging
JMM101257_WWE_1004.CAB - Java MIDlet Manager
IA_CALLERID_1.20_WWE.CAB - Caller ID v1.20 (With pics and ringtones!)
I am still having some small probs with my audio (People complain about volume raising / lowering) and occasionally I cannot hear the other person and have to reset to bring it back. So v1.31 does not cure any of these probs but does come with 3500 of BT stack.
Bebbo
Thanks big Time for seeing that. I fixed it
So you are working of the:
i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP.exe
It seems that we have some Asians that have reported a 1.31 with ExtRom= 1.31.920
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=85257#85257
Would be nice to see then uploaded it so we can see what it is.
BTW:
MMS_2.0.0.16_BA_1123.CAB - MMS Messaging
This one is found Orange_SPVM2000_Ext_ROM_122170_WWE_AZERTY_France
JMM101257_WWE_1004.CAB - Java MIDlet Manager
This one is also found in
I-Mate_PDA2K_Ext_ROM_122162_WWE
IA_CALLERID_1.20_WWE.CAB - Caller ID v1.20 (With pics and ringtones!)
This is a NEW Upgrade
Do you have a uncooked back up of the Ext Rom i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP.exe.
If so can you upload it to:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Extended_Roms
This is the latest that I have been able to work out in the Rom kitchen 1.22
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Exteneded_ROM_Kitchen_1_22/Docs/Rom_Kitchen_122.xls
looks like that Thread might intrest you.
what does you os post as version number and build?
Thanks again
I am in the process of uploading the ROM as requested ..... large file .... slow link ... be patient!
I will also upload the Caller_ID software v1.20 (It does state that it is a beta somewhere but I have had no probs with it so far).
Also, form another user, I will upload some of the other updated cab files so that we can maintain a directory of up to date components from the Ext ROM. Will create a ExtROM_CABS directory under blue angel.
My screen posts:
1.06.02
1337.38
1.31.00 WWE
Not sure why only 1.31.00 but not to worry....
Bebbo
I can read your Signature, however it does not show me the OS (as in Windows) Version and Build number. Can you post that please
Thanks
Ah, sorry, didn't realise which info you were after -
Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
Is the update any good? stable? im really trying to sort out call quality, will this radio update sort it? if so how do i get it install it? what other fixes are there?
I am looking for a Bluetooth upgrade for my XDA IIs that has the Audio Gateway, any help from u guys??
question about updating radio
I currently have 1.02 radio, if I update to 1.06.02 will I have to do a hard reset?
Does the same apply for the bluetooth patches?
I am a little weary of upgrading just the radio by itself.
Thanks in advance.
Actually, the IA Caller 1.20 is already on the FTP under Magician's O2 Mini Ext ROM directory. And MMS 2.0.0.16, Jave Man 1004 can be found in several Ext ROMs. The 1.31 WWE O2 release is only the standard 3500 BT upgrade according to the O2 rep that I talk to So... If you're running 1.22 WWE and radio 1.06.02, don't bother I guess...
Success!!!
Well everything went perfect, thanks to the wonderful people here on XDa and a little help from Sprite Backup.
I am now officially running 1.06.02 radio.
Do I notice a difference? No, did the other party who constant complained that my bluetooth sucked can not tell the difference anymore. He said "Are you on bluetooth? Wow, a little update like that made a 100 times difference, amazing" Now I feel 8)
Hi Folks
I have an german MDAIII with the original ROM from t-Mobile (austria) and want to make an Romupdate to generic Rom (from dangaard)
V 1.22.173 GER.
SO i unpacked the Romfiles and ran the batch for changing it to look like a t-Mobile rom:
xda3nbftool -x ms_.nbf ms_.nba 0x20040522
xda3nbftool -x nk.nbf nk.nba 0x20040521

xda3nbftool -x nk.nba nk.nbf 0x20040521
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nba radio_.nbf 0x20040523
del *.nba
But at the first 3 lines of batch i get the errormessage:
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nbf radio_.nba 0x20040523
WARNING: this does not look like a nbf header, possible you provided the wrong password...
SO i think there is the wrong code "0x20040522" in the batchfile. but how can i get the right one???
is there anything i did wrong?
does anybody have a hint?
Hey
You have run across the same problem that we have on a lot of the roms.
They changed the password on the ecription and we dont know it.
Thus the tool wont work.
For german roms you will need to go the t-mobile update:
List of know Blueangel, sold as, Model ID, Operator code ect
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15510
Which is also 1.22 with a radio of 1.06.00
Were did you get that other German Rom and can you post a link?

i tried this update but this also does not solve problems with headset, so i wanted to try original rom with newer version number....
This dangaard Rom has radio 1.06.02 in there and this is the reason why i wanted to try it.

I undresatnd that you have downloaded BA_FRA_BelDT_12202_558_10602_Ship.exe
You have run a rar or zip over it and end up with a bunch of files.
Here you have del the other two ndf leaving only the radio in that dir
You ran the fix bat

Everything OK, no problem!!
I try to tell what i did in detail:
downloadet the file(s) and everytime extracted ONLY the "radio_.nbf" file.
then i run the fix batch i posted above (without errors)
..and copied the "radio_.nbf" to the other files i extracted from t-Mobile Rom Update. This i downloadet from the t-Mobile Website (V 1.22.01 Radio 1.06.00).
So the t-mobile file ist overwritten with the new radio file i patched für use with t-mobile rom.
so ALL files are from the t-Mobile Update (i sent you the DeviceData.txt) and only the "radio_.nbf" is from the source of the link you sent me.

Yes! After starting BaUpgradeUt.exe the welcome screen appears and when i click "next" then the error comes (see attached Screenshot)
Hey you are doing fine, realy
thougt we had a problem there somewere.
Remember we talked about the fact that they changed the encription on 1.22, well you are using a 1.22 form t-mobile, we dont know that that works and basedon the whole of our conversation it does not.
i extracted from t-Mobile Rom Update.

Try extracting the BA_FRA_BelDT_12202_558_10602_Ship.exe
dumping the other two ndf
run the fix
run the update
Post what you come up with
works!
Good idea!!
It worked!
Now i have radio version 1.06.02!
But there is a little thing i dont understand:
i can flash a radio file from FRANCE to my t-Mobile device WITHOUT changing or hacking this radio_.nbf!?!
this means for me that the security check is in one of the files do the Update (like BaUpgradeUt.exe) and NOT in the .nbf files.....
Is there a diffrence between a german, english or a france radio file?
Will answer that after you answer this
Did you run or not run the fix bat?
PS can you FTP back a version 1.6.02 radio, its gone in to this folder
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/RadioROM/BA_FRA_BelDT_12202_558_10602_Ship/

No i did not! Just extracted ALL files to a folder, deleted ms_.nbf and nk.nbf and started BaUpgradeUt.exe

Well does that not prove the fact that the radio has no languge.

You ran an upgrade program with a Rom which was not expected Radio wise.
Tried to fix it (thus changed something).
The main thing is that it works!
I've uploaded the edited 1.06.02 radio rom
I saw that some people had issues with upgrading their radio roms. I've edited and used the following file to upgrade my Austrian Tmobile MDAIII in german language to the newest radio rom ( 1.06.02 ). Here is the link.
ftp://xda:[email protected] 1.06.02 Edited for German Tmobile MDAIII.rar
Just download it, unpack and then start the exe file while your mda is in the cradle. It will update any german language Tmobile MDAIII to Radio Stack 1.06.02. Beware that a hard reset will be required afterwards so do a BACKUP before upgrading the radio.
Any more questions? PM me
Radio 1.06.02 istnt better :-(
Hi Folks!
Since i have radion 1.06.02 on my german T-Mobile MDAIII i can say that the problems i had are not gone!
1.) scratching noise with headset
2.) sometimes headset disconects and never connects when call comes in
so i have to look further for another solution......
@onurd
Thanks für your tip!
Does your Radio work with headset?
This thread has been started to allow new users to post question in regard to Upgrading based on the information that they have read on Wiki.

Hi,
As I mentioned in another thread, there is no info on how to save/backup/extract you existing ROM. I tried to use XDA-Tools and created some file with size around 30M. (I named it nk.nb1)
AFAIK, it's only "core" OS rom. So I want to capture now Radio and Ext. ROM in the same format.
Anyway, since if I do something wrong, I will loose it forever after I flush it with something else, so I would like to have more info and understanding.
Cheers,
Gorby
I am a bit lost on what you want to do.
Ext rom can be unlocked zipped and saved.
Both os and radio can be install one at a time.
Thus you can cook a rom by using radio and os from other ship files. (if you have a password).
The saving of rom files (as in a rom dump) is explained somewere. Do a search for rom dump.
Also check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=84478#84478
There is no info about that on wiki as nobody has written any.
what i want to do is to backup my original OS, radio and ext. rom. by now i know that i can unlock my ext rom and copy it to a safe place. however, i m not sure that if restoring extended rom from this manual backup i will be able to achieve exact state of original rom. for example, dates of files will be different, reported version number could be different.
so i want to backup image of ext. rom.
moreover, i want to upgrade primarily because german interface sux for me and i need english one. so i need to backup all 3 roms.
i tried to use xda-tools but it only saves os and probably wrong because the size is too small (around 30M).
i figured out that i probably have to use d2s command from bootloader prompt. so i got an SD-card today.
it is still not clear to me how can i make 3 .nbf files that can be used later to restore my original rom with BaUpgradeUt.exe.
in addition, it would be useful for the community if i upload these roms because i didnt see that my model was mentioned here:
Operator code BRIGH102
E-Plus in Germany
OS: 1.22.01
ext: 1.22.756
radio: 1.06.00
btw, i could even write a how-to on dumping blue angel ROMs if i have enough info.
thanks,
Gorby
Well, I was able to get OS image using pmemdump:
Code:
C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build>pmemdump.exe 0x80000000 0x02000000 nk.nbf
Copying C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build\itsutils.dll to WCE:\windows\itsutils.dll
CopyProcessMemoryToFile(00000042, 80000000, 02000000, nk.nbf)
Unfortunately, I couldn't dump ext. rom and radio in this way:
Code:
C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build>pmemdump.exe 0x60000000 0x00300000 radio.nbf
CopyProcessMemoryToFile(00000042, 60000000, 00300000, radio.nbf)
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Attempt to access invalid address.
C:\XDA-Tools\Xda Utils\build>pmemdump.exe 0x70000000 0x01080000 ms.nbf
CopyProcessMemoryToFile(00000042, 70000000, 01080000, ms.nbf)
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Attempt to access invalid address.
Perhaps, I have to specify another process context with -p option. Which one?
Thanks,
Gorby
You dont need to dump the EXT Rom.
Unlock the Exteneded rom, copy it to your desktop, rar it and upload it to this site for others.
When you need it back.
Unlock it , Un rar it , copy it to Extended_rom, Hard reset.
As for the Radio, download a copy of the 1.06.00 of the FTP site or extract it from a 1.06.00 ship.
OK. I tried to backup to SD-card and restored from it to check that it works. No problem.
I just can't easily dump it to files, but that I could figure out later. Important that backup/restore is working fine!
Anyway, having backup on a separate SD-card is not a bad idea anyway... I just need a bit smaller card instead of "misuse" of 512M card.
I'll upload my extended rom to the ftp.
Cheers,
Gorby
New Extended_Rom
Here we go finally:
/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/Version_GER/E-Plus_Germany_QTEK_BRIGH102_Ext_Rom_122725_GER.zip
My device is:
PH20B 0 B GER R BRIGH102 1.22.01 0 1 1.22.752 1.06.00 06.00
And btw, it was successfullt flashed with:
i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP but with radio replaced by 1.06.02.
Thanks for help and regards,
Alex
PS: I was able to backup restore all ROM's to CD-card but still need a way to copy them to PC.
Update MDAIII (PH20B1) with PH20B file?
What do you think will happen, if itried to upgrade my PH20B1 (MDA III with no camera) with the latest PH20B update from TMobile Germany?
The modifications in the EditFix.bat would look like this:
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -sl GER -so T-MOB101 ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -sl GER -so T-MOB101 nk.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B1 -sl GER -so T-MOB101 radio_.nba
Will this have success or will it kill my device?
Thanks for your help,
Bubisch
Dont think you will have a problem, however I am not sure if we know the password for that update. It seems you are a t-mobile customer, all you need to do is run the upgrade (with out fix.bat)
Upgrade does not work!
No, it does not work. My device is a PH20B1, the update is for PH20B. No go with nbftool, might be the wrong passwords. For information: i'm O2-Customer, just bought it with TMOB-Branding, because XDA III is not out until today...
Hum, thats a new one for me.
So you are saying that even if you follow the wiki info using the Imate 162 wwe and the fix.bat you cant upgrade.
q1 what does your devicedata read
q2 what is your error message
PH20B1
I followed the Wiki, but i didn't try the WWE (want to stay with german language), but I tried the official TMOB Upgrade. I even tried updating just the radio rom. But it didn't work.
NBFtool still has the opinion, that its the wrong password, Upgrade Utility says, Wrong Model ID (Error 100).
Another Fix.bat from another forum says:
NBF: Wrong password
UpgrUt..: Radio Checksum Error (Error ID 123).
My device data reads the following string:
PH20B1|GER|T-MOB101|1.06.01|1.06.125|1.00.00
Pech Gehabt!
Ok a recap, you have tried the offical rom from t-mobile and it falis due to the fact that this rom was built for the PH20B and not the PH20B1.
The GER seems to have the new encription so the tool wont work on it yet.
I Have so far only been able to find one GER rom which I posted on wiki, there is talk that T-Mobile austria has one which seems to be outdated (read that one on some thread in this forum).
We have a tool in the works that will fix this problem as it can handel both the old and the new encription thus you will be able to build your own rom by adding all the parts.
What you need to find is a ship.exe for the PH20B1, this you should be able to use and delete the ndf and only leave the radio one (from the FRA 1.06.02) this will solve your radio problem.
Thats about all I can do for you given what we have at the momenta and the fact you want a GER Rom.
Waiting for more...
Okay then, all i can do is wait for this. But its ok. I think your work on this is great. Let me know, if i can help you.
Thank you very much.
Unlocked XDA IIs
Which program can unlock the XDA IIs. Thanks.

Hi please can someone help as i need rom so that i can re install it on my phone as went to do upgrade and now in just on gray screen which said serial please can some help
Can I suggest you have a look through the wiki on how to put together a set of ROM to perform an upgrade. As far as I'm aware there is not standard upgrade for the M2000 available as yet.
Wiki is here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
If you are a gray screen with serial on it. Then this suggests you are not plugged into the USB port. Put your device in it's cradle and make sure the cradle is plugged directly into the PC, not via a hub. Then just re-run the upgrade as before.
Post back here if you don't make any progress.
just need to get it back
Hi all just need to get it back as it was if poss please help
To get it back to what it was, you will need to tell us what the orginal state was.
Have you had a look at the Wiki? As I stated there is no ready built mechanism for rebuilding a M2000. you will need to create the file set yourself.
Hey Louie
I've got an M1000; perilously similar to an M2000 i suspect
Last evening I noticed this upgrade on the orange website http://web.orange.co.uk/story/sm_1047574.html
2 chances, eh? It's version 3.661.230
Its a 24 meg download, as they tend to be.
It might at least get it working again until either they produce an upgrade for the M2000 or you get your head around ROM production.
Sounds like RTP knows his onions and is giving you the better advice though I smell the panic in your post and sense you might not be in the right frame of mind for learning to cook ROMs!
Best of luck!

Hi again.
Not sure if this is of any help to you, but here goes.
I tried to install the Orange ROM update but was unable to do so because of a cryptic Country Code error - have emailed Orange to ask em about this.
In the interim I've been using this update from Mysteryman

The M1000 upgrade will do you no good. Wrong device, wrong upgrade.
Follow this, copied and edited from a mail by RogerSelwyn.
Download a base:-
ftp://xda:[email protected]/i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP.exe.
Then extract this by running the file until it gets to the point saying 'Welcome to the device Software Update Utility'. Then copied the files out of the temp directory e.g. 'C:\Documents and Settings\######\Local Settings\Temp\#####.tmp' to a safe location. Then cancel the install.
This will give you the three rom files plus some other utilities. nk.nbf (the CE rom), radio.nbf(radio rom) and ms_.nbf(Extended ROM). These will be 1.31 WWE for CE, 1.06.00 for radio and 1.31.112 Arabic for the ExtRom.
So, to get to 1.06.02 for the Radio rom, we need to download a replacement which you can get here:-
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BA_FRA_BelDT_12202_558_10602_Ship/radio_.nbf
Do the same extraction method as above, but just copy radio.nbf to the directory you copied the previous files to. This will replace the 1.06.00 with 1.06.02.
Now for the Extended Rom. Currently this community doesn't have a method for creating a ms_.nbf, and I don't believe there is an M2000 one ready made. So you can take two routes.
1. Build the machine from the upgrade above. Could be interesting, but you will then need to delete the Arabic stuff in the ExtRom and replace with M2000 English. Not my idea of fun.
2. Put the M2000 stuff in ExtRom before rebuild, then just update CE and Radio. My prefered route.
So for route 2......
Install the Extended Rom Unlocker initially through normal methods, copy the cab and run - ftp://xda:[email protected]_1_22/Tools//xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB. Then under Programs/Extended Rom Tools, click uhide and unlock and do a soft reset.
Download the M2000 ExtRom from ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/Orange_UK_SPVM2000_Ext_ROM_131124.zip
Go to the root of your device and into the 'Extended Rom' folder, delete the contents and replace with the contents of the zip file. Then Lock and Hide your extended rom and perform a soft reset.
In the folder on your PC where you have been storing files, delete the MS_.nbf, since you have already installed the 1.31.124 files as above.
Then copy this utility ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/xda3nbftool.exe into the same directory and create a batch file called Change.bat in that directory with the following contents:-
If you are going route 1, then you will need the lines with ms_.nbf in, otherwise you can delete.
Code:
xda3nbftool -x ms_.nbf ms_.nba 0x20040522
xda3nbftool -x nk.nbf nk.nba 0x20040521
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nbf radio_.nba 0x20040523
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG001 ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG001 nk.nba
xda3nbftool -sd PH20B -sl WWE -so ORANG001 radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u NK.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u ms_.nba
xda3nbftool -c -u Radio_.nba
xda3nbftool -x ms_.nba ms_.nbf 0x20040522
xda3nbftool -x nk.nba nk.nbf 0x20040521
xda3nbftool -x radio_.nba radio_.nbf 0x20040523
del *.nba
pause
The entries in this are correct for an M2000. Run Change.bat, you should get no errors. If you do, then something is wrong.
After that run BaUpgradeUt.exe from that directory. This performs the update, it wipes everything from the device, and can take a while to run. It will install ROM 1.31.00, Radio 1.06.02 (and ExtRom 1.31.112 if you left it there).
Make sure when you run, you have the device connected directly to your PC, not via a usb hub.
Job should now be done.
If not, post back here.
Just to record my thanks
I have an M2000 with the earlier ROM and was getting fed up with poor bluetooth performance. Tried Orange - No help - Found this post, followed it and now I have the latest ROM and it works a treat. Thanks a lot.
No problem. Glad it was of use.
Orange SPV M2000 - latest ROM
Hi
I am new to the ORANGE SPV M2000 having just bought one. I would like to ask about upgrading my ROM as I have seen this file on the ftp site at wiki:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Blueangel/OrangeUK_M2000_140_ROM.rar
30.7 MB uploaded on 5 August 2005.
Does anyone know about this file / upgrade? has anyone had any experience of installing this? Basically, I would lilke to upgrade my ROM to the latest version (i believe its 1.40 ?), bluetooth, radio etc.... but not sure what file to download! (my signature shows my current version)
Thanks for any help.
9.30pm Easter sunday and Orange finally sent me a replacement M2000 ... but ... all of the roms are really old:
Operator 5.12.1.139
ROM Version 1.12.22 WWE
ROM Date 09/27/04
Radio Version 1.04.00
Protocol Version 1337.35
ExtRom Version 1.12.139 WWE
Now I want to upgrade the lot to the latest but I just have a couple of small questions;
1) Do I need Orange roms and cabs, or can I use any?
2) What exactly are the latest versions? I've searched the forum and the ftp and it just isnt obvious to a fool like me.
3) This is a side note really, when these are installed, will they revert back if/when I do a hard reset, and if so, can I cook my own extended rom to auto install these?
All help is greatly appreciated and feel free to point me to a thread which answers my questions (I have searched but I couldn't find anything certain).
Follow the procedure below. Once setup, any hard-reset will take it back to the state at the end of this process.
May also be worth having a look at wiki, it helps to explain what is going on. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel

Thanks for the great advice.
One slight problem: when I run the base exe and it extracts the files, I can't find where it puts them, a full search of the hard drives shows no .nbf files and theres nothing in the temp folder you suggested. (and yes, hidden/system files are shown). Any ideas?
While I *think* I know what to do, just another couple of questions;
1) Can I just use the radio file 1.10 instead of 08?
2) Can I swap the callerid cab in the extended rom with the newer version?
Thanks again.
Just use a zip program to extract the files directly from the .exe file
Cheers
On the others questions, can I just put the radio 1.10 file over the original instead of 1.08 and can I add the 3900 BT patch as part of the extended rom to have that set right as well?
Thanks again.
All about the 1.10 radio, please follow instructions found on link.
Any other way of approach will be at your own risk......well it's all at your own risk any way

I just want to say thank you!
I've just done the update and everything worked without a hitch. (I went for radio 1.08, but swapped the callerid file for the 1.20 version).
One small question, which I assume comes down to the base file... when I get a call, the balloon window is now twice the size with an animated gif showing underneath. Its a bunch of boxes which look TMobile-ish. Is there any way to change/remove this without having to flash the whole thing again?
Thanks again.
EDIT: Ignore my question, I think its a callerid 1.20 thing in that it now has default images for certain things (which have now been turned off)
Yep, just open Caller ID --> Tools --> Set Default Photos --> UnAssign
That should do the trick
Change settings from O2 to Orange??
I have an XDA IIs that was bought on O2 but I am now running on Orange. I am having issues with it crashing all the time.....particulary when using the Transcriber....
I also have all the GPRS settings for O2 installed and reinstalled on a hard reset.
Will the above change switch my handset to use the orange ROM or would it wreck it?
Thanks
