When searching for a way to set the connection and network icon as only one icon i found that in phoneph.dll theres some dialogs and stings to set the band (gsm 900 or gsm 1900), i haven't find those dialogs in the options of the phone app but i think it might be interesting for someone wanting to change it's band so heres the tip (if it's any good).

Is there an app or something that allows me to switch between 2g and 3g networks? I have a widget which takes me directly to the settings but I would love an app that I could use instead. Especially something that could for instance switch automatically on location change using something like locale or Settings Profile.
I am rooted if that helps.
Thanks
Needn´t app.On screen dial you type *#*#4636#*#*,and switch it in there

right on, but isn't there a "beautiful" widget or something similar that simply toggles between the two?
here is one i use
2G-3G OnOff
Thanks for the replies, but it's not quite what I am looking for. I already use the widget ghostrida suggests, but really I want a way to either change it directly from the home screen or even better a way to change it using locale or something similar so when I get home and am on WiFi, the phone will automatically switch to 2g networks saving my battery - especially as I have poor 3g reception at home.
Thanks

I dont believe it is allowed any longer in the android sdk due to security issues. I could be wrong though I know a lot of the settings where moved to a secured section.
What you could do is create a contact with the number mentioned above and add it to your homescreen as a widget. If you want to get really in depth with it, you could add a picture of something that would signify edge for you (i.e. a 2g icon or something) and it would show up like that on your homescreen.
Setting it as a contact doesn't work, ive tried that before.
closest solution is an app in the market known as phone info
I use an app c alled switch network type 2g/3g it's not quite what you're looking for, but instead of being a widget it shows up in the notification bar only when you drag it down. it doesn't automatically change it for you, but it also doesn't take up a spot on your homescreen and it's available anywhere the notification bar shows up.
Does anyone know if there is a widget capable of toggling the 4g on and off?
I haven't found a widget but you can switch between 4g/3g in this menu...
Settings > Wireless & Network settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode
That's been my current method, but i'm looking for something much faster for when I know ill be watching nfl live stream or using the market.
I have not found one either. Extended controls has the controller widget but I don't think it's updated for Bionic yet. Errors saying your device is not 4g-capable.
Have you tried Power Control Plus? I don't know if it's compatible with the Bionic (and I haven't seen any upgrade notices for it recently), but I believe it had a 4G toggle available.
The app "LTE Switch" is good. throw a shortcut on the homescreen and it takes you directly to the settings to turn it on/off

In my opinion this works good. it also gives you the choice for 1ex (cdma only) in those areas (like my work) where the phone is trying to access 3g but cant.
So you have the option to go 1ex, 3g or lte.
I just downloaded LTE switch and I agree that it works well enough for now.
Zdbox network widget works as well
I did some searching and had trouble finding a way to get to DM Mode on the AT&T variant S6 edge. So, I thought I would post my findings here in case it might help someone else.
Finally, after some tinkering I found the code to be:
*#0808#
You simply dial that from the dialer as with other service modes.
Also, for anyone wanting to access other service modes I have found the following codes work:
*#27663368378# Display Basic info
*#197328640# For main Service menu
*#2263# Enable/Disable bands

Enable/disable bands just gives me a blank list of lines/spaces.

It is possible that this has changed with an update. I don't have the phone to test anymore. Sorry
*#2263# gives me blank spaces as well.
I didn't see *#*#4636#*#* on here. Under device Info you can change from LTE/GSM mode to LTE only WCDMA only etc.
hi,
I usually set wcdma only through phone info (*#*#4636#*#* fom dialer).
two days ago I change slot for my sim (to solve a bug in cm13)
and i can't set wcdma only.
maybe phone info setting works only with SIM1 ...there is any way to set wcdma only in the SIM2? with root?
i only Can set 3g with Classic menu but it's wcdma preferred.
any ideas?

They don't conflict with each other. I have used these two together without any problem. I could not find any app for that purpose.

Does anyone know of a 5g 4g toggle / widget or easy way to change the network setting for the pixel 5? I don't see an easy way to do it without jumping through the settings menu hoops but I could be missing something. Running on t-mobile USA if that matters.
how do you do it through the menu?

Settings - Network & internet - Mobile network - Preferred network type
Then choose the toggle of the network you want to use 5g LTE 3g or 2g
I was just hoping to be able to more easily switch between 5g and lte if I'm not going to be doing anything too bandwidth intensive and want to extend my battery life.
ok, so the built in app "phone services" has this activity called radio info. you can create a shortcut to it using nova launcher for example, or other apps that let you create shortcuts directly to activities. there's a drop down menu there that lets you change the 4g/5g (and 3g and 2g too). it's not a one click solution, but it's much faster than the other way (like 2-3 clicks).
Hey u can change it in phone info
Then set preferred network type if u don't know these setting do not mess it.
