O2 XDA Extended Battery - any opnions, experience? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Accessories

Hi
I'm about buying an Extended Battery for my good ol' XDA...do you have any experiences and/or opnions?
KTamas

Well the official extended battery works well, it makes the phone very chunky though, my problem is I dropped the phone and broke the plastic locator tag so the battery doesnt sit on the phone properly, the bottom sticks out, probably have to use velcro or similar. :?

Is it work with WM2003SE? Or do you need any drivers?

No drivers, its just an electrical connection.

Hi, my first post hope it helps even though its a couople of months late!
I have just bought an extended battery off ebay uk from HK took 4 days to come and took me 10 mins to change over. Cost £12 delivered.
Lasts for ever. Got extened battery for old ipaq as well from sameguy just as good.

Got mine from www.lionbattery.com. Some ppl said it won't charge from cradle and resets device... I don't have these issues so far... It charges from cradle and doesn't reset device when I change it. But I've been using it only for 3 days so can't really give a good advice.
Also have a look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24355&highlight=high+capacity+battery

I just bought an external battery on eBay, and it works great, but a bit bulky, and I don't have a case that will fit.
I also bought a new 1750 mAh replacement battery, and it works so well that the external battery mostly resides in my refrigerator! I expect I will use the external battery on camping and boating trips, as I keep the phone in a waterproof PDA case, and it has the extra room.
The 1750 mAh battery is a HUGE improvement over the stock 1200 mAh, it took about 10 minutes to change it out. They even sent out a couple of the special TORX screwdrivers needed!
I spent, including shipping, $22.00 for the new battery, and $22.00 for the external one.

The XDA I (Wallaby) with the genuine battery backpack fits fine inside the o2 XDA Executive case. You can get this case on eBay.co.uk for around £7.50
Just search ebay for

I got a cradle from these guys. It was a $29.00 and it has an extra slot for a second battery to charge. I convinced the Sprint Repair Center that the battery life really sucked and they gave me an extra battery, so I was looking for a charger that could do 2 batteries.
The charger did not come with any documentation. It is one of two dual chargers on the Website http://www.talkietech.com/ and it is the one where the battery sits flat, behind the handset. It is not the one made by HTC (ORA) where the batter is upright. That one is $79 but i bet it will work better and it has 3 led's one for each battery and one for power!
The device has two led's on it and they simply do not change color, no matter what you do. One stays blue and the other green. The sales guy at TalkeiTech was very helpful but said that there was a replacement version coming in November.
Apparently the problem is from having one or both the USB and power cords plugged in (rapid charge option) at the same time. He stated you need to have both plugged in simultaneously.
I was using it as a simple charger that was near the door to the garage so I could charge both batteries as soon as I got home.
I use the Boxwave charger at my desk but it only has space for one battery but only needs USB (slow charge option).
I have now swapped the chargers so the dual one is attached to my PC and an electrical outlet, the left led seems to be for the 2nd battery and it changed red when I plugged in a low battery otherwise nothing else happened.
We are now negotiating for a new charger . . . .

Defective Mogul Cradle
I just obtained a new car cradle from Buy GPS Now
http://www.buyGPSnow.com
The thing is an absolute piece of junk. This is the second one they sent me. They claimed the first one needed a longer USB connector and that this new one was equipped with it.
Well that is not the case. The new one has some rubber strips on the sides to hold the phone in place because the device is really made for the thicker TyTn’s such at the AT&T 8125, 8525 and the new TyTn II (Tilt).
It is obvious that there is no one doing any quality control. On the first one I though it may be the length of the USB as they claim so I took it apart and plugged the full connector into the Mogul and powered it up, and the same conditions existed: the device would charge for a second and then stop charging and then the phone would lock up. This is a firmware issue not a connector issue.
Anyway they are slow to respond since they do not have a telephone number and you wait forever for a live chat person who seems to be NOT Empowered to do anything . . .
I got 2 from here and they work real nice, very high quality batteries, lasts longer than my original one from sprint... I tried those $10 or less batteries before and their capacity fluctuate wildly, but not these:

same as the original, 1500mAh, actually these batteries are made by the same company, i think the only reason why it lasts longer than my original is because these are new and the original has been used for 2 months already

I have not ordered anyhing here yet.
Bought the 3200 mAh battery from Seidio
Bought it about 3-4 days ago. Showed up without any fanfare. Also got the slim rubberized case (hint, the super extended battery and the slim rubberized case DO NOT go together).
So far, I have been charging like normal, I usually keep it plugged in at work and have noticed that about 30 minutes after taking it off the cable, the power drops to about 90%. this could be the battery "conditioning" as the Seidio site says. Don't know yet.
Oh, I had to write to Seidio to point out that the main page graphic says "3600 mAh" and the battery that ships is 3200 mAh. Apparently the only ones who make a 3600 mAh battery are Mugen (google it, Mugen 3600 mAh Mogul battery).
I also ordered the stylus/pen combo. This is worth the money. I'm constantly looking for a pen, but ALWAYS have my phone. The pen expands out to be very comfortable to hold, not some tiny thing that you're left feeling like a giant with a midget pen.
The battery... well, time will tell if the expense was worth the cost.
Can more people who have either the Seidio 3200 or the Mugen 3600 batteries post something on performance or experience so I can get an idea. I am still debating. Seidio 3200 or Mugen 3600. I have a Verizon XV6800. I'm a power user and i will gladly sacrifice the size of my device for more battery life. I'm also debating on whether I should get 1 or 2 of these. Having the stock battery is like being on a leash...well for me at least. I did a bunch of searches on forums but there is not too much info especially on the Mugen 3600mah. Thanks guys.
Mugen or Seidio, you'll have to judge for yourself
I have the Seidio. I'm not about to go out and buy a Mugen as well as the Seidio battery. These things are quite large to lug around in my pocket. I may be a power user as well. The only question is, are you not near a power source for a long enough time to warrant getting one of these?

Thanks for the speedy response. My problem is i play in alot off basket leagues and tournaments and for work am out at a customer siteanywhere from 8 to 18 hours...nothing looks more ghetto than being with a customer and asking if they have a place you can charge your ur cell...lol. I need the secure feeling that i dont have to charge my phone 8 times a day. I actually think i am going to get 2 of the Seidio 3200s because i like the rubber case that they may be coming out with.

HTC Touch battery on deal extreme

can the one they are selling on dealextreme be used for our p6900's? i know that one is for p3450 or something.. but will the back cover fit? someone wrote there that the battery does work on our phones but the cover doesnt fit properly and he had to cut it to fit? anyone else on this board has tried this option yet or is everyone spending over $50 for battery?
I looked at the one on dealextreme along with about 20 other web sites. I finally decided on a 2400 mAh battery by mugen power. I paid 69 US for it and shipping was free at nakedcellphone.net
When it finally arrived I was absolutely impressed for the following reasons:
the capacity of the battery is more than twice as long as the OEM bat;
the back cover is thicker than the oem cover but does not have the hump;
although thicker, it actually fits in my hand more comfortably. I like the way the phone feels much better;
the chrome ring around the camera lens looks identical to the original, and as one would expect the diameter at the outside is larger to avoid an optic tunnel;
color matching is identical to the Sprint Vogue.
This phone rocks!
yea the only problem i had with the dealextreme one was the back cover.. the battery is amazing.. lasts me forever.. but the back cover is quite ugly and doesn't fit the vogue properly.. it leaves a lil gap at the bottom.. i think its designed for the GSM version .. but the battery itself is amazing.. just incase u wanna buy it just for the battery...

I looked at naked cellphone on ebay and was interested in the cradle they offer and possibly 2 extended batteries (i'd put the OEM away for a last ditch backup) but does the extended batter fit in a cradle properly with the larger battery installed? Any success here?
Thanks

MNN -
Sorry for the delayed response. No, the extended battery will not fit into the majority of cradles out there. But when I googled close to 50 different web sites selling accessories for the vogue, I stumbled across 1 or 2 who were advertising that they had cradles that would fit the thicker phones with ext bats. Sorry I don't have a site to give you but you should be able to find it if you haven't already.
Update to the Mugen Power 2400 extended battery:
It has awesome battery life, like a week or more on standby. I can get hours and hours of of GPS, phone use, mp3, web, etc. at least 8 hours or more. I love the phone.

Does anyone know dinodirect.com?
This site is also selling HTC replacement batteries. To guarantee your phone life span, I would recommend you to use original battery.
SKU: A0324000KD
This replacement can be applied to 6900.
I ordered HTC Touch battery from dealextreme, but i never received my order so far.. So i reordered it from Chinabuye, an online store from China. I received ontime with free ship cost. Through paypal, payment i made easily and find its safe with them. When it comes to quality, its good one and brand sytlish. Rates are quite cheaper and has discount features.
Chinabuye !
I think it will better to use online Shop from China Chinabuye rather than dealextreme !
Chinabuye has more payment options and free shipping option ! which make buyer attractive to buy ! and also it has great quality products !
The battery and cover I just purchased today are these:
http://www.batteries4less.com/htc/v...v6900-vogue-oem-bte6900-extended-battery.html
http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-BACK-DOOR...662959?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45ebf8516f
Looks like a really good price on the battery and I'm crossing my fingers that they cover will fit - looks like it should.
Good luck on finding the battery. These Vogues are all coming up on end of life for the batteries it seems as they can only be charged so many times.

What is the BEST Reliable Battery for HTC Touch Diamond DIAM500?

hi,

thanks
i guess this phone isnt tat popular.

any updates for your battery?
anyone try the 2400ma battery from ebay?
The battery is nice. It does hold a lot longer charge than the original one. GPS seems the same also. I don't really know how to test it out, but I use data and have calls occasionally and text a lot. It still has 75 to full charge by the end of the day or all day too.
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Extended-Ba...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0749edff
this is the battery i bought (has the gsm back cover i believe). It works and also works for the touch pro too!
EDIT: After looking at the battery, the ends of the plastic were out too far so I had to sand/shave part it off to fit better.
http://cgi.ebay.com/GRAY-BACK-DOOR-...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item51892fab07
I bought this extended case to fit the cdma one. It is nice but mine kind of didn't fit right. I think the hinges were off preventing it sliding all the way on.
EDIT: This one really actually fit. Its just the hole for the camera was being prevented from the going in all the way because of the battery so I cut off part of camera circle and it fits perfectly.
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-HTC-Tou...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20b1e0fbbc
Ordering this one. should be coming in during the week. hopefully it fits better!
EDIT: This one fits good also. It also goes better with the color of the charger port and stylus.
pictures
here are some pics.
i updated my post before this.
If you look at the gray back where the camera is you can see in the cover that it is cut out at the bottom of the camera.
I sanded the battery edges because it didn't fit the maroon case. Now both the back covers are nice and fit perfectly.

2400mAh BATTERY F Sprint VX6850,MP6590,MP6950SP,DIAM500
Seller: battery.check - HK Hong Kong Seller
I got this and it was working for the first day. and now it doesnt charge. When i put it in to charge it just keeps turning on and off. I got this for $18. This is such a piece of crap. Anyone know how to fix this?
ok i got it to charge by loading it up into a universal battery charger for cellphones, but that still doesnt solve the problem. when the battery is completely drained, it just resorts back to turning on and off if i plug my phone directly to the charger. I am no way taking the battery out to charge everytime. thats just ridiculous. This also happened to another battery for the htc diamond for 1800ma that my friend purchased, does the same thing.
BE Wary of these CHINA cellphone batteries.... lucky its cheap.. wonder how does the mugen 3000mah holds up.
ive heard that the 1800mah batterry is meant to be good ive ordered one for my htc diamond however ive decided to use a english seller on ebay i will let you know how i get on when it comes through you might wanna look at the tweaks topic if you tyurn off some of the stuff that they say to do on there like i did you will find that your phones battery life lasts longer it worked for me although my battery life still goes in 12 hours im not too fussed cause i know when i get my new battery it wont die it should last for the full day and i only done a few of the tweaks like turned my beam off etc
i find that gps, hspca mode and beam and media player and apps like this eat your battery life really fast so i limit use of these apps and my battery lasts alot longer

Extended batteries (3500mah in this case)

Well... so far I've ordered a 3500mah extended battery from Hong Kong.. but as I believe this will take rather a long time to get here... I've ordered another one from the UK as well from ECELL, which apparently has a silver extended cover.
I'm well aware that these are likely cack batteries and I have a plan for that
Basically I'm hoping that whichever one I consider to be the worst will either die on me... or I will simply end it's life prematurely. I am going to cut open the battery (Carefully!) and try to replace the cell's with two Genuine OEM 1500 mah batteries, for a true 3000mah. I bit elaborate but I think it should be possible as long as I cut in the right places.
EDIT: I found genuine LG batteries for about £8.50 each plus about £5 postage, so will order 2 batteries for around £22. They are special order though, so will take 14-28 days. (I am also getting them to confirm the capacity is defo 1500mah, as no point buying them otherwise.)
Update: Images in post #29 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23120430&postcount=29
Well.. I was getting a little impatient... so when I was really tired (and may just a little to drink), I ordered one from ECELL on ebay. It had a silver cover and a 3600mah battery (We all know it isn't that much), and was listed for the 2x P990. Turns up.. it's for the LG Optimus S :-( Bummer. Just trying to get a return/refund.
So... experiment is delayed somewhat.
Update: Two LG OEM batteries have been ordered ; The incorrect extended battery sent back ; Still awaiting the HK Extended battery. Bizarrely I thought I actually ordered a 2nd UK based battery.. but I was so tired I think I forgot to do it lol. Can't wait to have a play with these
Refund form ECELL given without issue Have now received the 3500mah battery, and just running that to see how thing's are with it. I am waiting on the two OEM batteries to turn up from LG before I can start modding this extended battery.
Since I also have a bigger case now, I am going to look to see if I can play around with an external antenna as well.. and maybe fit a bigger antenna inside the expanded case. With that in mind I have ordered two antenna's of different types to see which one fits (expensive.. but then at least we all know )
Sounds really interesting.. keep us updated please!

i got the 2400Mah battery(2 days of usage) i'm looking forward for you're results
specially the modded one pictures will also be great if u can.
thanks!
Apparently the LG batteries have been dispatched now, so should get them within a few days. Only annoying thing is that even LG were unable to confirm whether these batteries I'm getting are 1500mah. I will be gutted if they are not lol.
btw.. you should see my desk at present at home. I have about 5 phones, four of them in bits awaiting tinkering, LED bike lights (all modified), circuit boards from laptops everywhere, reparing a 4x 18650 battery pack + routers etc lol. And I just realised that I actually don't know where my soldering iron is ROFL. Must dig one out.
Anyway... I'm looking forward to it and if I can get it working, I'll put up pics etc. I'm very interested in trying to get the temp sensor working (although I realise it may only work for one of the batteries.).
P.s. as for extended cases and covers I bought this w w w.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clear-Black-Trim-Rubber-Case-Cover-LCD-Film-Pro-LG-Optimus-2X-G2X-/180782656771?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesP ouches&hash=item2a177c6d03 and then cut out the back clear part. It's not a perfect fit, but it will work for the moment (Buy at your own risk.. I actually stretched mine too much when getting the clear part out).
Genuine LG batteries have just arrived about 30 seconds ago. They are 1500mah
So with the delivery charge added in they were £11.04 each (£8.49 each without delivery charge). So if you ordered more it would be less due to the one time delivery charge of £5.10. Not bad for a 1500mah genuine battery! Batteries dated 10/09/2011.

Yes. I've now ordered a second "3500" mah battery so I have a spare cover and shell in case I **** anything up. I am just trying to gauge the capacity of the 3500 battery. On my first run it lastest almost 2 days on stock rom, with a fair amount of use. I would prob say only around 2000mah at a guess though.
I'm just trying to get it to run down again for a 2nd charge now.
Once all that's done, I'll open it up and start tinkering I will have to get both the LG batteries to the same state of charge as well (same voltage level) before hooking them up.)
Bear in mind I've spent £22 on original batteries that I am about to hack open for the cells inside, so there is no going back lol. Pretty expensive mistake if I **** it up relatively speaking.

Pretty expensive mistake if I **** it up relatively speaking.

no doubt it could be an expensive mistake, but if u succeed which i think you will the results will be probably a 4 day battery. so i think its worth it
i got the 2450Mah battery and it holds about 2 days with medium usage, so im really thrilled about ure test as i dont care about the size of the phone,
if you can share pictures it will be great you can also p.m if u want!!
thanks.
Shpapy.
No problem, will do
I charged the battery again last night, and rapid drained it running bluetooth (nothing connected), some GPS usage and wifi with smartshare running a video across from my NAS drive. In the morning it was down to about 25 percent so tried GPS on cycle to work and then drained it with music and GPS until 1%. Charged it without using it, and it's reporting about 1900mah estimated for the battery. I don't rate the estimator as highly accurate btw, but it's a guide .
I will try to take the battery apart tonight if I can. Not sure on best way to open it though, as I will need to reuse the carcass.
Damn.. was taking it apart and fried the circuit it came with. Unfortunately the metal legs that bring power from either side slipped off and touch the outer shell of the battery, was enough for a small yellow spark :-( oh well. (EDIT: Hmm.. circuit may still be alive actually...)
It's two batteries pressed together with several layers of thin plastic between them, either for insulation, spacing or both. I'm actually pretty surprised the cells weren't isolated better from each other.
Update 1: Well, for the first time.. I just managed to burn myself with electricity opps. These packs are really badly isolated. Shorted it on the tip of my finger... beginning to hurt lol. There are NO ratings on these batteries whatsoever. However, one thing they are is... amazingly well balanced. Just measured them and they are both exactly 3.78V's.
Update 2: The circuit and LG Battery will NOT fit directly into the old casing. There will need to either a mod to the extended casing, or we'll just have to 'go without', and make a casing up. It's looking like it's best to do without using the old battery at all actually, and just wire the two batteries together using the LG circuitry. (Well only one of the circuits).
Update 3: Will dig out the soldering iron tonight and get this double battery running
Update 4: Have VERY BADLY soldered the batteries together and combined battery is now charging in the phone. Due to the excess solder on the sides the battery is not quite proper fit, so I will have to redo it at some point. Really very dissappointed with how awful the soldering is, I will simply HAVE to redo it once this experiment is tested. Any tips on a soldering iron chaps? On the plus side, the one thing I do get is a temperature reading :-D
Tip number 1: Quickly snip the circuit off first and DO NOT let it touch the side of the battery casing, it will short out.
TIp number 2: h t t p://www.technfun.com/pages/article.php?id=22 Excellent guide. Take note of the safety tip!!!!
Points of interest
A) The extended battery is EXACTLY double the width of an LG battery.
B) LG OEM Batteries are made by Sanyo
C) Don't use a conventional soldering iron... it is almost impossible to solder the negative side and you will end up overheating the battery if you are not careful. (Any tips here guys?)
Charge battery up last night, and stayed up wayy too late trying to drain it.
Technique... used the 'flashlight' app to keep the LED on, turned on bluetooth, turned on wifi, and use smartshare to stream a movie (at full screen brightness) to the phone. Played Dungeon Defenders for a while as well at full brighness so hopefully the graphics core would take more power. Battery Temp got as high as 40C under 1400mah draw. Odd thing was that battery widget pro at times reported +25000 Mah(ish), yes PLUS '+', and 25000mah, that's just insane..not sure where it was getting the figures from :-(
7% battery left when I put it down, voltage was 3.550 or very close. This morning, voltage it still had 7% left and voltage had increased to 3.7 ish. Guessing it's because the battery was warm last night when under heavy strain, and now it's relaxed and cooled it's feeling better lol. (Or maybe something else?)
Running gps client down now in attempt to drain the rest before recharging. Ideally want to get it down to 1% before a full charge.

cool progress , can we get some pictures of the new battery?
how were u able to fit it in? i get u got a bigger case but still....
share with us ure images / knowledge its sounds really cool doing.
I basically copied what they had done on the 3500mah battery, and merely connected up the positive to positive and negative to negative terminals of the batteries using thin strips of metal, and only used one circuit from the LG battery. Basically I parallel the batteries to increase capacity.
I used a small spacer to keep the batteries seperated, but thinking about it, I could have use the bodies themselves as the 'negative' but it wouldn't have been a good connection). I then just taped the battery up and use the 3500mah battery sticker to hold it all together.
This really is just a 'prove it works' / prototype, and I will remake it neater, although I may have to buy a better soldering iron.
Pics later.
Note: After charging back up from 1% this morning to 100%, the 'estimated' mah by Battery Widget Pro is 1551mah. This would indicate to me that one battery is not connected properly unfortunately. I'm gonna run the battery and see how long it lasts under general usage. If it lasts only a day and a half, then I suspect I will have to resolder.
I bought a 3500mah half a year back and it wasn't any good. Twice the width but lasts the same as the original one. It'll be good if you could show us some pictures? I may consider making one too!
To be fair the estimated capacity of the 3500mah was around 1800 to 2000 mah. Pretty good considering it came with an extended back cover for under £5. It does seem entirely random though, and I was never comfortable without a temperature sensor.
The work I have done so far is rubbish to be honest. I thought I'd make a better job of soldering. I will have to redo it, as the fit is terrible due to the solder being too big/messy, and the connections are not very or or not working/broken.
Can't wait to see the results.

For some reason, battery widget pro was recording very high mah draw/drain. I do not believe I soldered the negative terminals well enough. I took it apart and tried to prise a little flap of metal up for soldering, and managed to rip the terminal off the pack. I will do my best to remedy this of course and let you chaps know the result.
I also have the 3500 mAH and I was wondering if it was really giving 3500 mAH. I'm getting about 1.5 days on this battery with moderate usage. Heavy usage I get about a day. I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I think it's supposed to last longer.

I can understand the need to occasionally want to extend the battery life of your Note II. Camping trip, road trip… However I wonder if this is the best solution. I don't know how much the case costs or what it weighs but think that maybe buying one or two extra batteries would be a better option. It would probably be a cheaper option and one that would not ruin the form factor of your Note II
The point is not cost.. But protection +convenience +handiness..
Buying an extra battery is not a problem but opening the back cover all the time to change the batter is.. The cover gets loosened up after few times.. And if one uses back cover or any sort of cover you need to peel of two layers to get to battery...I am just trying to know how reliable these cases are.. Extended battery is also a solution though
I've gone the extra batteries and found it to be much more of a hassle than a convenience. Now that I carry multiple phones (Blackberries, HTCs), carrying batteries for my phones is out of the question. I found that carrying battery Power Banks solved my problem.

I know someone who got that one above, $20 shipped without front flip cover, and it looks almost identical to the one from your link. From what I heard it works perfectly, especially charging N2 battery while phone is idle. But when you are actively using the phone, charging is at slower rate than discharging (only 500mA output). For $20 its a good "backpack" battery charger without a need to remove original battery/cover.
They have the case the op is talking about on ebay for $39 and some change. They have black, white, and a bundle package. The bundle package is cheaper then buying the battery case by itself. I searched for, "extended battery case for galaxy note 2" from the ebay app on my phone.

I bought one of ebay. The first one I received wouldn't work, so I returned it. Luckily they replaced it in a couple of days.
The new one works, but it is definitely a trickle charge. Using battery monitor widget, or showed a net charge rate of about 450-500 ma/h when the screen was left off for about 15 minutes. With the screen on and moderately heavy usage, it would still charge, but only showed a net gain of 150ma/h. I havent tried it with gps on or anything really battery intensive.
It does add some bulk but not a huge amount. The case/battery seems pretty well made but the flip cover has a mucv cheaper feel than the back does.
I usually don't use it day to day, but it came in really handy on a recent camping trip. I was able to charge my phone back while it was in my pocket while I was away from an electrical outlet.
I have about $35 or so in it, after buying one and shipping back the faulty one. I think it's worth it overall, but expect a trickle charge from it
