Ok, I have played with a few ROMS including first having loaded the UK version of the O2 ROM update and everthing seemed fine until I tried to use GPRS connection to my AT&T wireless connection which prior to the upgrade worked great. I have now upgraded to the 1.40 ROM update to see if the problem still exists which it does. I used to be able to use *99#G as a dial string and it would connect up without any problem.
Now for my biggest problem, I took the plunge without first dumping my original ROM to a file. Now I can not find one anywhere. Every link seems to suggest I should find it on the myxda.com site but I am not seeing it there, in fact the only file I see there is a Bluetooth patch.
Does ANYONE have the original O2 Asia XDA IIs ROM files? If so please reply to me and let me know where I can find them for download. My original DeviceData show the following:
PH20B 0 B WWE E O2ASI001 1.12.62 6 2 1.12.925 1.02.00 02.00
Thanks!
I guess the below file will do
ftp://xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/O2_IIs_Asia_Ext_Rom_112925_WWE.zip
If not then there is a new one.
ftp://xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/O2_IIs_Asia-Ext_Rom_131920_WWE.rar
The username and password for it is xda.
I hope this solvesyour problem.

Asian ROM Update in 2nd Quarter
I got this re[ly from O2 Asia:
Thank you for choosing O2!
O2 Asia has not fixed the the exact release date for the up-coming software upgrade for XdaIIs. It should be ready to be release within the 2nd quarter year 2005. O2 will update user via user personal profile website (loginID and passward) as and when it is release to the public. Kindly keep a look out for it. Thank you.

is the ext_rom = extended roms of XDA II? if so, where could i find the original rom?
I've been searching all day for answers to my question. I apologize if this has been asked, I could not find a resolution in any threads.
I recently purchased my o2 XDA IIs from someone off of ebay and I want to upgrade to the latest ROM version. I currently have 1.31.00 WWE and I noticed 1.40 is out. The problem is, you have to be registered with o2 in order to download this ROM.
-Is there anywhere I can get this rom without being registered?
-Are there any suggestions as to a better alternative to the o2 rom for this model?
-Can the MDA III rom be used on a XDA IIs?
Thanks!
I *think* I just answered my own question by visiting the xda-developers FTP. Any chance that the o2 uk 1.4 ROM will be up soon?
or better still, you could download the IMATE 1,40 rom, it runs like a dream on the BA and its faster than o2's rom............... just my suggestion tho... lol
joey,
Is there any chance you could post the contents of your config.txt from your ext rom? I take it you are running the Type I IMATE ROM with 1.12 or 1.13 radio on o2 UK? I put 1.40 on my uk xda 2s with 1.13 radio and it still seems really buggy. I enter the code for corporate version when o2 active prompts after a hard reset but it still keeps doing bizarre things. Would be grateful for any help, it would be useful to know what radio stack you are using as well- 1.12 or 1.13
Thanks for any help

[EDIT] ok, so i found it, here it is...

Not sure what the differences are, I'm on 1.13 but might downgrade to 1.12 if you find it stable. Your config.txt file will be in your extended ROM, which should be unlocked if you've been adding 1.40 files.
Thanks for the fast reply,
Fin
found it, see above...
Thanks!
Am puzzled by the fact that you don't seem to have any O2 customizations in there- it's all imate- does that mean after a hard reset you have to configure GPRS manually? Anyway, I think i can narrow down my problem to all the o2 crap thats in my extended ROM, thanks for all your help,
Fin
yeah, lol, i put all my gprs and mms in manually, since i work for o2, i can get the settings easy, tho the mms setting i had to get from here i think, was a pain, but yeah, i think its the o2 software that is messing the system up..... the only o2 stuff i have on it now, is the o2 plus , thats runs perfect and is better that o2 plus...
joey..
Yeah, I was thinking of putting o2 plus on, it looks quite good, which is a bit of surprise compared to o2 active!
I'll have a play with the extended rom, and see if i can find a compromise between stability and not having to enter all my settings manually.
Thanks again,
Fin
entering settings is easy really, its not as hard as it looks, if you do take that path, then let me know, i get you the settings, i might even make a .cab files with the connection settings, (i heard somehwere you could do that!!!!)

O2 settings: GPRS/MMS
Hi guys,
Joey: you finally convinced me to go for the imate 1.40.
I am really new in the forum, and I don't get everything... But as far as I have understood, this the less buggy version of all. Let's see if I need to soft reset less than 3 times a day!
So, step by step:
1/ install the Imate 1.40
2/ install the radio 1.12
3/ O2 Plus 1.7
4/ Could you get us a simple txt file containing all the params to enter into our O2 UK devices ? GPRS / MMS. Especially the password to access O2 active / O2 wap / GPRS web.
The numbers to access the SMS / MMS servers...
Many thanks,
trope
Surely it can only be a matter of time until O2 UK release the 1.40 rom on my-xda.com as O2 asia have already released this and is available for download on sourceo2.com?!?!
Is there any reads this who is "in the know" at O2 please let us know
I PM'd Southern_Man with that vey question earlier today. He has been trialing the new O2 ROM (which has the Blackberry client built in a la xda 2) Have not heard back yet, but will post what I hear back..
Regards
Chris
Matter of time to have O2 UK 1.40
It is surely a Matter of time to have O2 UK 1.40...
Yes, but it is to long to come out, soft reseting each time we touch the screen!
Anyway, it would be the best solution: PLEASE MR O2, WE ALL NEED THE UPGRADE THAT YOU OWE US: we have bought an expensive device and are paying expensive service to have the impression of debuging windows 95...
PLEASE guive us some news about the date of this release, just to know if we can count on O2 UK quicky, or we install other parts ourselfves.
Cheers,
Trope
O2 UK Rom 1.40 + BB
Does anyone have any update on how O2 UK are progressing with the 1.4 ROM and BB client? As said before Asia already have it so why not the UK?
Did the O2 UK settings (GPRS, MMS etc) get uploaded anywhere so I can at least get onto the iMate 1.40 and save having to reset all the time
Who was it that was trialing the bb client ? any chance of them posting a copy here?
Thanks
Re: O2 settings: GPRS/MMS
I would like to put the newest version of 02 Plus on my PDA2K. Where can I get a copy of the file? I looked on the FTP and did a search, but no luck!
Thanks.............Later... 8)

Simonp, the Asia O2 BA ROM does NOT have the BB client.
All we have is a buggy, piece of crap ROM update. NO BB.

Re: O2 settings: GPRS/MMS
I would suggest using the same setup I use, the Imate 1.40 Rom with the 1.13 radio rom. This is very stable and the battery life is very good. I have very few problems with GPRS and no problems with the OS on this. I only have had problems when I try to add other programs that aren't compatible. DO NOT use Battery pack pro,SPB pocket plus, or Pocket Hack Master. They will LOCK IT UP and you will have to do HARD resets. I am trying RhinoLaunch right now,and so far,it is working well with no lock ups!

If you want WM2003SE, I recommend Orange 1.31 with the 1.15 radio, I've found this the best and the fastest combination so far. If you want to use WM5, Wizard Port 1.0-TuMa is the way to go (link in my signature).
Thanks but arn't there any vodafone specific ones? not to keen on using cooked roms had nothing but problems with lockups and such when I had the xda 1

I've checked the FTP and I can't find any WWE Vodafone ROMs for BA, unfortunatelly (though there are some german ones). However, cooked ROMs works really well for many people with BA devices (including me) so you might want to give it a try.
well gave up and stuck with latest original O2 rom everything working including wifi internet and email so alls well
I can't use Gsm internet some time because of my mobile is At&t branded and i use the mobile in different operator,it is htc til2,sometime i can use internet by opera or other browser but not all time.now what can i do for using internet all time.i think the problem is using at&t branded cell in different operator, some application are not working now what can i do? i dont know how to debrand or unlock please help me.sorry for my bad english
seems like you may have activated the proxy manager from ATT you need to disable or look for a custom rom designed for AT&T (i had bad experience with euro roms using my tilt 2) also try to use the latest radio or the ones from the AT&T stock roms
regards
