IMATE PDA2K... how to upgrade to Cingular Ext Rom? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hey all,
I have a Siemens SX66 here and its locked (and no camera). So I am thinking of just getting an unbranded I-Mate and then customizing it to Cingular. Will I have any problems with downloading the CABS/Autorun from the Siemens Ext Rom RAR file on the FTP and running it on the device? IE as I understand it it should brand the device to Cingular w/o any problems? Anyone using the PDA2K Unbranded BlueAngel on Cingular Network?
Thanks

That would work just fine.
Here is what I would do:
1) Take the unlocked PDA2k and put the imate 1.40 version rom on it.
2) Get into the extended rom, delete the files Default_ImateV112.002.cab and Default_Button9_PIE.CAB
3) Take the cabs from the Cingular Rom that are CUSTOMIZATION (Cingulcustomize_041228.CAB, Cingular_ECall.CAB, Cin_inbox_ap.CAB, MediaNet.CAB, Button.CAB, getmail.CAB) and rename them adding "Default_" in from, then place htem in your extended rom
4) Hard Reset to have 1.40 with Cingular customization.

merging 2 roms??

is it possible to install........... an Imate rom,(or hopefully if a Wm2005 emerges from the other thread) with the o2 active so that i can have all my gprs settings and so on.... from an O2 rom???
i guess this is called cooking and i have read the cooking of roms thingy on wiki but im a dummy and i dont really get it.... lol
is this possible??
or is there an Imate version 1.40 version cooked with o2 stuff???
Hi,
You would just need to unlock & unhide your extended ROMs, throw in your O2 CABs and add the CAB directory to the config file. Hard reset and it should install automatically.
Alternatively, just extract your telco & O2 CABs and run them from inside your XDA. Perform a soft reset and it should be installed then.
Read WIKI for the instructions...

8125: Complete upgrade and customization, or just upgrade??

Hello there,
Cingular 8125 owner,
Some one posted that we should reset the device right before the manufacturer customization settings start running.
What is the difference if at the end of a succesful installation, we copy the cab from the original extrom?
Aside from the bootup logo, and some small specific apps, some users are reporting that with the Qtek upgrade, Syype is being installed.
Thanks in advance for your reply to this matter.
your sig says you are running 2.17.7.2 so you already have the new rom. With this rom Skype does not get installed as it is not in the EXTRom. Imate's 2.16.9.1 has skype and someone could probably give it to you from there if you want it. The Qtek rom that you are using doesn't really have any cabs that are not useful. no bloat. But don't use Cingular's cabs after the upgrade.

Ivan's WM5 V4 R3 on Cingular's SX66 - any successes?

I have a SX66 with service from Cingular. On upgrading to Ivan’s, V4 R3, everything works fine (and the speed is reasonably good too!) except, my phone now shows AT&T network and the Roaming (Fir tree) symbol. I've tried working this out with little success. Tried everything from xda3nbftool to editfix.
My Question: have any of you had the same problem?
If your SX66 with this rom does catch the Cingular network, kindly share how you set that. I would also really appreciate if you could share your nk.nbf (and Radio_.nbf, if u have upgraded to radio 1.15) by uploading it to the FTP. or PM me for another method of transfer.
Thankx
Yaantra
Phone: Audiovox PPC 4100, SX66
Carrier: Cingular
ROM: WM5 Ivans V4 R3
Radio: 1.15
afaik, At&t and cingular are the same?
also radio 1.15 is not very good with WM5, try using 1.13.
I have a sx66and I show att but its not a problem in california..I'm using radio 1.15 no worries as for the roaming..check ftp for wizard cingular 8125 rom there is a hide roaming cab cuz cingular plans have no roaming
Thankx, got that done, din't know Cingular only added a cab file to get the roaming sign off and its logo on!

Help Downgrading WM6 to WM5 Cingular 8125

Hi,
I have a Cingular 8125 phone, I upgraded it WM6 with one of the ROM that I downloaded from xda forums. I do NOT know which one that I downloaded. I remember downloading and installing one of the T-Mobile stuff, then flashing a new WM6 ROM from this forum. My phone locks up every time AFTER I receive/make a phone call. I would like to go back to stock WM5. I have no idea how this works, but it appears that I am running the risk of bricking my device if I do it wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Following is the details of what I have.
During BOOT it shows
T-Mobile Logo
IPL 3.08
SPL 3.08
GSM 2.25.11
OS 6.1.0.0
After boot,
About page says Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
Device Information page says,
ROM Version: 6.1.0.0 WWE
ROM Date: 1/16/08
Radio Version: 2.25.11
Protocol Version 4.1.13.12
Thanks,
JSenthil
no problem, just flash he original rom.
I have it, from mda t-mobile.
I think i have from cingular to, if you need it, let me know.
Isn't that I first have to downgrade my SPL/IPL to 2.xx in order for the original WM5 to work on my G3 wizard?
Can you please explain the steps involved? BTW, where can I find the original ROM, are you referring to the one that can be downloaded from the HTC website?
Thank you for your help,
JSenthil
Unfortunately I installed iPhone skin onto my Cingular 8125. I would like to revert process and get back my WM5, but I tried "hard reset" (Comm Mng + Voice buttons and poke reset with stylus) and nothing. Keeps going back to the iPhone skin. Few things do not work, still has scroll bar on side, connection and battery icons and no lock mode. Contact list feels like iPhone, but is not well developed, still has bugs and menus to la-la land.
Please help, I don't know much about WM5 or cell phones.
Thanks!

Problem choosing the right ROM

For 2 weeks I have used Qtek 2.17 WWE from Qtek Netherlands which is slightly different from 2.17 WWE from Qtek Sweden (main difference: with NLD ROM, the battery lasted for 3 days; with sweden, only for 2-2.5 days). The main problem of the Netherlands one was that the phone freezed in 1 of 2 incoming call. Soft reset was the only solution.
I wanted to install 2.17 WWE from Qtek Sweden, but before this ROM, I have installed T-Mobile 2.26 but without Extended ROM (soft reset before instalation of Extended ROM). Now I have a ROM without T-Mobile software on it, but also without Smart Dialing, MIDlet manager, Comm Manager icon isn't on today screen and so on.
Can you tell me where can I find these missing cabs?
And one more question: Which of these ROMs is the best (most stable and less battery consumption)? 1) Qtek 2.17; 2) T-Mobile 2.26 without extended ROM; 3) T-Mobile 3.08 without extended ROM. Which is the best for my phone?
Thank you very much!
