Or would xcalibur be so kind as to upload it

Bosjo
I Pmed xcalibur and he does not feel comfoftable with the ExtRom unlocking.
I will download it and extract but it will be in the morning before I can do anything about it.

@MDAIIIUser
Whenever you have time, I'm not expecting any sensation out off it anyway :?

country ID error.
Dear Wiki,
I downloaded the rom, and I extracted it. I following the instructions. I got the country ID error after run BaUpgradeUt.exe.
I tried to use xda3nbftool.exe to fix the rom, but still get the wrong password warning.
I tried to use xda3nbftool -t ms_.nbf > password.txt to get the password, but still get the same message, wrong password.
I am stopping now and searching the post. What can I do now ? Thanks a lot !

Yeah, right.
An unofficial ROM is available from the Warranty centre, on which thousands of people rely on for support.
That's kinda like saying that Microsoft have released Longhorn as it is now (bugs and all) and are supporting it anyway!
Hmmm... Appearently, they DID have the 1.31 ROM at the service center, but the place I went to is only a collection point and they need to send the unit over to the workshop to have it flash, and they said FIVE days!!!
And after chatting with the rep there, the only difference between O2's 1.31 ROM and the launch ROM is the BT patch! Leochan2005 in this forum already has the 1.31 ROM and looking at the info he has posted... It does look like it's only the BT patch.. Why on earth would O2 change the ROM version to 1.31 if it's only the BT patch????????
Here's Leochan2005 ROM info...
ROM: 1.31.00 WWE
ROM Date: 31 Dec 2004
Radio Version: 1.02.00
Protocol Version: 1.337.32
ExROM version 1.31.920 WWE
Sorry for late reply: My 1.31 version, the bluetooth version is 1.0.0 Build 3500.
It detects bluetooth device much faster than my XDAII
But do not know why the radio rom is still 1.02, and do not know whether I can only update this radio rom into more latest version
I remembered that I bought my machine on 27 or 28 Dec 2004, do not know why the rom date is 31 Dec 2004

You can update only radio ROM. To do this backup your device, download official ROM update, extract it with WinRar into any directory, delete files ms_.nbf and nk.nbf. Then enter bootloader, place your device into cradle and run BaUpgradeUt.exe. This would update only radio ROM.
Can you dump your ROM to SD-card and upload to XDA-developers FTP? You may use this tool: http://mamaich.kasone.com/imate/ROMDump.rar
To use it copy ARMV4Rel\ROMDump.exe to your device and run it. It would create a 64-mb file on your SD-card.
And can you also make a copy of your extended ROM? The easiest way to do this is to install TotalCommander on your device, open directory "\extended_rom\" (without quotes, you have to type its name manually, it is hidden) and copy its contents somewhere.
RE
Is this ROM meant for the XDA II? What does it contain? WM2003SE, WMP 10, landscape mode support...?
so any1 putting this rom up for downloading?
Dear all
Can you tell me how can I dowload the rom update in order to update my radio rom?
Also, if failure during update, can I revert back to the rom backup in the SD card using the method mentioned above? Can you tell me how to do this?
Dear all
By the way, can I use the radio rom from XDAII for my XDAIIs as I understand XDAIIs is a 4 brand radio but XDAII is only a 3 brand?

I heard at the CEBit conference in Las Vegas, i-mate released a BT patch that did that.
There exists an official 1.31 English ROM upgrade. It is called i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP.exe and can be downloaded from Imate site. After installation you should edit extended ROM and remove unnecessary arabisation and operator customisations. With this method I've updated my device to:
Rom: 1.31.00 WWE
Radio: 1.06.02
Extrom: 1.31.112 (cooked)

New Rom: German Vodafon_13101_176_11200_GER (Edit)

Hi,
you will find it here:
http://www.vodafone.de/downloadarea/vpa_3_ship.exe
or here:
http://www.vodafone.de/business/support_download/software/59345.html
greetings
do you think you could find out what the specs are of that and upload it to ftp I will then move it and update wiki.
Thanks
How can i find out what version it is?
The files are from 10th of may but i find no version.
The updload i will do on monday.
Hi,
the new versions are:
ROM: 1.31.01 GER
date: 12/13/04
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM: 1.31.176 GER
Greetz TOM
and how works with the new radio ???
Uploaded and updated wiki

I tried to install to my German T-Mobile MDA III. I got the error message that the language is incorrect. I'm wondering because this rom should also be a German one. What i'm also wondering the ba_update programm shows englisch messages. Doe's anybode has tried to use?
Greetings
I have the same problem - I get an language error when trying to upgrade. I read the manual on how to patch the language settings though, I think I am missing the password...
Anyone know how to figure that out?
TIA
Tafkaj
This rom could be a type II rom and thus give you a password error with the oold nbftool.
If this is the case re extract the exe file (as you tried to modify the roms with the tool).
Go to wiki in the 1.40 rom upgrade page, follow the type II instructions using this german rom.
The ma no id tool should bypass the langauge code and country code.
Use at own risk as with all flashing

Should i upgrade my rom?

To start with I have had my xda iis only a few days. The roms is:
ROM version: 1.12.62 WWE
ROM date: 10/04/04
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM version: 1.12.178 WWE
There are numerous comments on here and the wiki about different rom and radio updates. Could anyone sum up the benefits and differences for me if i upgrade rom or radio please?
Can nobody advise a newcomer to xda iis and these forums? On other subjects I've had a really good response but nobody seems to want to advise me on this thread.
martlewis - you know there's a new ROM out, everyone's busy trying that out! Windows Mobile 2005. If you feel confident in doing a backup, try that one. It's got serious issues to be resolved, but you're lucky enough to own a device that can be upgraded.
I've got a magician, so can't help re your specific rom.
V
martlewis,
If you can wait for the new ROM WM5 to be developed it will be OK for you, but if you can't I would suggest that you should up-grade to the latest available ROM up-date which is as follows:
ROM version : 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date : 03/10/05
Radio version : 1.13.00
Protocol version: 1377.42
ExtRom version : 1.40.176
This is the best performing ROM version as at now.

sorry for my intrimission!
I have a pda2k with italian rom, but I would to like to have the system language in english.
To upgrade the rom: I must download the version 1.40.00 WWE from wiki and then run the update using: MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.. right?!
Dear Mart...
I have tried the new ROM which I've been waiting for a long time. Once installed, I liked it. Howerver, I started to find out that there are many problems that I'm not used to with WM2003 SE, therfore, I downgraded to WM2003.....until these issues are resolved. SO.... if know how to upgrade, and if you know how to downgrade in case you didn't like the new ROM......Then give it a try......apart from the issues it has....still I like it. Finally it's another new Microsoft Windows that will take some time to get stable.
Cheers
I decided to wait for the official new ROM to be developed and published on the I-mate site to download and up-grade.
What's happening now is just trials for resolving the problems users are facing with the new WM5 ROM.
My device is working fine now with the 1.40 ROM version and 1.13 Radio version.
The only problem I'm facing is the statics in BT headset and I hope that we can find some solution for this problem in the near future, otherwise everything is going just fine.
Regards

Closer,
I think that you have to simply download the english version and install it to your PDA2K through the computer cable. After the installation is complete, you will be having the english version installed on your PDA2K.

Hi notepad, I supposed the cab even installed on ROM other than the official ROM (radio and ms) will not work. This is because RIM checks on the use of right version before it allows the connection to go through. This is the case even for XDAII (which will only work for 1.72)
I have upgraded entirely to their O2 UK version and BB is working perfectly fine for my XDAIIi now in Singapore.
Yah, I am using the Offical 1.40 from 02 Asia version with radio ROM 1.12, the device is able to generate my PIN, so it is more that sufficient to subscribe the service right.

Perhaps I was not clear enough in my previous mail. Blackberry Connect should only work with the version it is released together with and no just any official O2 release. This was the case for XDAII.
In this case for XDAIIs, the version should be v1.40.237. Well, in any case, it's worth a try. No harm done right? Good luck!
actually the 1.40.xxx at the back is the extended ROM function, the core ROM is 1.40. I believe that as long as you use 1.12 ROM it should be ok.
My Device Info are
ROM: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM Date: 03/10/05
Radio Version: 1.12.00
Protocol Version: 1.337.42
ExtROM Version: 1.40.923 WWE
What about yours?

would someone be kind enough to post the link to the blackberry cab file. Either I'm being stupid or I'm experiencing problems with my XDA Exec.
Thanks
The cab i put on the ftp was for XDA IIs and XDA IIi, I would be very surprised if it would work on Exec.
Log into the ftp with xda as both username and password and go to uploads/blueangel and you will find it there.

Got it working with an XDA IIs, connecting to a BlackBerry Internet Service in Singapore ( StarHub ).

having read this thread do I understand correctly that BB wil not work on wm5.....

I'm no techie but I'm interested to upgrade my XDAiis with blackberry capabilities. Can you teach me please? I tried accessing the FTP site but no can do. Appreciate any assistance.
Thanks.
BB Clients for WM5 are currently being tested by various providers such as O2. Only a matter of time now before they will come out. My hunch is around the end of 2005, early 2006
Which is the right cab?
Hi,
I've browsed around /BlueAngel and found two BBConnect cabs. The English version is 1.2 and doesn't generate a PIN. The other version is German 2.0 which does generate PIN.
Is this the version that we uploaded? As I don't understand German, can you please upload the Cab again?
Thanks so much.
I had problems with the installing of the BB service file when I upgraded my Radio ROM from 1.12.00 to 1.13.00, so i down graded again,
I could be wrong but...
I don't think anybody ever got this to work on anything other than the standard T-Mobile or O2 phones.
It's a lost cause -- I wasted countless hours on it, and I hope I save you from doing the same...
Thanks for the tip... Not too surprised as not many people claim to have got it working. Wanted to "repeat" Notepad's "success" since I'm also in Singapore.
Actually, I tried the German version last night. But SingTel's BB registration page rejected the PIN and IMEI I gave it.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to be a royal pain, but I have bought myself an o2 XDA III phone and I'm looking for the latest o2 rom for it which is Xda_IIi_LaunchROM_v1.10.124.exe, all the links I have found no longer host the file
Does anyone have it that could upload it to the FTP site? or if not, does anyone know what the most upto date cooked/beta rom is? I updated my BlueAngel with 6.5 rom, but I didn't want to just assume it would work on my XDA IIi.
So if there is someone out there that could save me some time, your help would be really appreciated.
Rom version - 1.11.00 WWE
Rom date - 01/27/05
Radio version - 1.00.00
Protocal version - 1337.39
ExtRom version - 1.11.169 WWE
thanks
Anthony
Out of interest, I use this one on my o2 xda2i:

Rom version - 1.11.00 WWE
Rom date - 01/27/05
Radio version - 1.04.00
Protocol version - 1337.42
ExtRom version - 1.11.171 WWE
Don't know if that helps.
