Hi All
I've been playing with this 9090 all afternoon and am not getting very far.
So far I have installed the english BB client from the T-mobile extended rom, and it gives me a pin on the bb screen and I can use the PC client to generate the encryption key etc with the BB server.
I can't get the bb client on the 9090 to connect to the server. I've got the blackberry APN enabled, and a gprs connection configured to use blackberry.net etc etc.
Think my problem is the version of the radio I'm using.
Currently I'm on: PH20B 0 B WWE E DANGA001 1.40.00 0 0 1.40.147 1.12.00 12.00
from deviceinfo.
I know I should be using a 1.06.00 radio rom but I can't find one that the password for the encryption is known for... I have tried modifying the T-mobile latest rom (uk one) but I get "WARNING: this does not look like a nbf header, possible you provided the wrong password" at the command line.
Are there any radio 1.06.00 roms anywhere that are able to be modified and put on my 9090?
Getting a bit stuck now... any suggestions from anyone? I also get 'invalid handheld pin' on the BES server next to my entry... I presume this is because it can't talk to it yet.
Will.
Anybody got any ideas?
I've only got 21 days to try this unit out before returning it if we can't get it to do this...
Cheers
Will

I purchased my XDAIIs in Australia.
This is my current Device Information
ROM Version 1.12.62 WWE
ROM Date 10.04/04
Radio Version 1.02.00
Protocol Version 1337.32
ExtRom Version 1.12.925
If I upgrade from 1.02.00 Radio Rom to 1.06.02 with the version you have will this work for my XDAIIs here in Australia or are there country specific Radio Rom versions???
Where can I download this from?
Are there any procedures I can follow?
Peter Birkle
I have the Asia version of the IIs which I upgraded to 1.06.2 Radio, no problem here
Are you in Australia?
Were can I down load Radio 1.06.02 from?
Peter Birkle
I also have upgraded the radio ROM with no problems.
I downloaded it from the FTP site for xda-developers.com
Cheers,
AP.
When I go to the FTP Site I'm asked for a User Name and Password to logon even though I have logged into XDA-Developers with my username and password.
Is there a separate user name and password to getonto the ftp site?
Does it have documentation on how to perform the radio ROM Upgrade?
Peter Birkle
When I try either ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/
or
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/
I get prompted for a user name and password
I tried my xda-developers.com sign in but it doesn't work.
ftp://xda:[email protected]com
Tried ftp://xda:[email protected]
Still get a prompt
But when I try anonymous I now get [email protected] in the sign on box but when I try to connect I just get the propmpt come up again.
username:xda
Password:xda

Let us know how you get on. I've been in there and can't find the right file I need.

I've spent hours going through the beginner's guide and have searched all over for this. I'm confused because I've seen different answers and explanations to this so would appreciate some advice.
I'm running an O2 Asia IIs on the latest ROM and I'm sick of the lack of stability and the need to reset it 2-3 times a day. So, I've decided to change ROMs, and have been recommended the iMate ROM (although if anyone else knows of other reliable ROMs then let me know)
My device from getdevicedata is:
PH20B 0 B WWE E O2ASI001 1.40.00 0 0 1.40.923 1.12.00 12.00
Where I'm stuck and scared of moving forwards is: I've tried running the xda3nbftool against PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200 but it keeps saying that the password is wrong. I've discovered that I need to run it with the -t option against the nbf files to get the passwords out so I tried that, but there's no password for the radio_.nbf file. And then after I've modified the editfix batch file with the updated passwords for the ms_.nbf file and the nk.nbf file, it still says that the password could be wrong the first time (subsequent runs don't say this however).
Then I saw the info about the "TYPE II" methodology, so I am confused and don't want to risk having a phone that is dead or unusable for a period of time because I chose to do it the wrong way - I want to do this the right way and have honestly checked everything I can think of to get this working - if someone could set me on the right path it would be great.
Thanks

I'm using the O2 Asia ROM, on my PDA2k, before of the dodgy i-Mate Bluetooth Headset Problems
I put the new FW or rom in my 8125 from Cingular, everything works.. got SMS working, got EDGE working, but Wi-fi does not
it sees the AP but will not connect. it says connecting then Unavailable
ideas.. i would like wifi.. really a conveance.
e.b.
what did you upgrade to? I upgraded to 2.16.9.101 and have had no problems connecting to my WPA protected wifi network.
mine says ROM 2.16.9.1 WWE
extended rom 2.16.9.101
radio 1.12.10
and you used the RUU file to upgrade the unit???? mine upgrade the radio to 2.07.10 as well.
IPL/SPL: 2.16
ROM Ver: 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROMdate: 2/6/6
Radio: 02.07.10
Protocol: 413.1.0.2
ExtRom: 2.16.9.101
ROM Ver: 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROMdate: 2/6/6
Radio: 02.07.10
Protocol: 413.1.0.2
i bypassed the extended rom.. so there is none
but.. still no working wifi
it see the AP but will not connect to it
same problem here, haven't found a fix yet. My router is only 802.11b capable and not 802.11g. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Maybe this new ROM sets the device to G only. Although, using Nico's registry wizard, the G mode isn't selected.
Do you have any kind of encryption active on your wireless router? If so, turn it off and see if you can connect. If you can, I'd suspect a problem in the key.
If you still can't connect even when WEP or WPA is off, then the problem is elsewhere. What kind of router is it?
I was going mad with the same problem.
I'm not 100% sure it appears the issue was related to the MAC address of my unit - as well as WPA I do MAC filtering to weed out unwanted devices
I'm not sure if it was a base-station issue, or if the ROM upgrade changed the MAC address on my K-Jam
double-checked and added the IP from the device and now it's happy as Larry (as I say it may be a total red herring... I may have forgotten to save the router config to Flash and we had a powercut over the weekend...)
if you installed the cingular extended ROM do a hard reset immediately. that's what f's up wifi. i loaded the full extended rom and was NOT able to get wifi to even start. once i hard reset, everything was a-ok

There is NO EXTEDNED rom installed at all.
I bypassed it compleatly.
when it asked me where I was (orange etc..) I did har soft reset and no rom was installed at all.
no cingular rom, no Imate rom, no extend rom other then the OS
e.b.
i wasn't meaning you in particular, i'm saying for the people who can't even get wifi started.
I did allow it to run the RUU's extended rom... I don't remember which carrier I chose on the carrier screen. My wifi does work fine on my WPA G network.
ok.. so i am an idiot.. i tried another AP and it worked fine.
so my question is.. (this worked before BTW, before I upgraded to the new ROM)
I have a linksys SRX400 router (WRT54GX4).
I just upped the FW to 1.00.10 from 1.00.09.
any ideas?
e.b.
I appear to have the same problem with my qtek 9100.
Used to connect to my pair of dlink dwl-900ap+ 's fine. Since the rom upgrade it will only connect if I turn off wep! No idea about wpa cause I've never managed to get it to work!
Naive queston
I just bought my Cingular 8125, and it's my first one of this kind.
Please, could some one tell me what advantage new ROM gives over standart package?
Thanks
hi
i am running the latest Summter rom with the following Device information showing
ROM Version - 2.24.10.1 wwe
ROM Date 4/17/06
Radio Version - 02.25.11
Ext Rom Version - 2.25.11.102
(i downloaded to 1.05 then CID unlocked (got the CID Unlocked at the finish) then upgraded without a hitch, i am reasonably sure i am completely upgraded, i have what "Could" be a stupid question but here goes. when i click the Com manager the "Push" e-mail icon is greyed out??? am i missing something? i will have my server up an running in about a week (Exchange with SP2, etc) so i am just curious am i missing a step? do i need to configure the activesync server info first? then the icon will be available? also along the same lines how can i verify that i am bluetooth stereo compatable??
any help is appreciated
thanks in advance
Can someone answer this "tricky" post?
I also have the same issue despite my Qtek 9100 (rom 2.25) is working like a charm!!...
Thanks in advance
well i was reading another post about www.mail2web.com and i signed up for their FREE exchange hosted e-mail service. i followed the directions and set up the server in activesync. once this was done the little envelope was highlighted and i was able to enable "Push"
e-mail. do a search for mail2web and sign up for the service. as far as the A2DP i assume when i get the headphones the option will show once they are paired.
good luck

The last mistery on my phone has now been solved!
Waiting now new ROM's updates...
Cheers 8)
Hi all
I'm in the process of trying to turn my old Alpine into an IP-phone via SIPgate. I have a wireless network secured using WPA2 and found that it wouldn't connect because of a lack of WPA support in AKUs below 3 (As far as I can tell, the ROM on mine is an AKU2.1 pug rom) and so I downloaded the Odyssey Wireless Client but when the Network is setup in the Client, it finds the Network and the fllowing happens:
"Waiting for keys"
"Error: Timeout waiting for keys"
Does anyone know what that means?
Thanks,
Karl
Or alternatively, anyone know of a ROM where WiFi and WPA/WPA2 works? I checked the FTP but couldn't find much that looked like updated ROMs - and I seem to recall reading somewhere on here that pug's ROMs got wiped from the FTP?
EDIT
My ROM info:
ROM Version: 1.11.00 WWE
ROM Date: 01/27/05
Radio Version: 1.04.00
Protocol Version: 1337.42
ExtROM Version: PUGS 1.11.62
Is this the latest? Or is there an updated ROM that might help?
EDIT #2
Having tried other methods on Odyssey (WPA-TKIP, WPA-AES, WPA2-TKIP, WPA2-AES) it is only WPA2-AES that gives the keys error, using the other listed methods just results in "Searching for Access Point"
OK, so I got an Ad-Hoc network going secured with WEP, it's better than nothing.
I guess the XDAIIi doesn't have the eneded Driver Support for WPA/WPA2 as even the Odyssey Client couldn't connect to my home WLAN using WPA2...
Thanks for the help all
