Contacting your phone provider
I managed to get the unlocking code from 02 after begging them due to me flying to the states and using a different simm card in the phone.
Do you know who could do a software to unlock the MDA III? And who created the software xda2unlock.exe and how could I ask for the new software to him? Thanks.

Someone else's code won't work on your phone- that's why we need xda3unlock- any ideas when it will be made?
code supplied by o2 will be unique to your imei code so will not work
I don´t know when we will have the mda3unlock, but it seems there are a lot of people who want it! Please if somebody knows somebody who is making this tool or who is able to do it, tell us! Thanks!.
Unlocking SX66 - I will donate $$$
I will donate $10 USD to this site and $10 USD to the first person that can help me unlock my Cingular SX66. This is such a cool site I believe it deserves all the support it can get. So if you prefer to not take your personal donation I will give a total of $30 USD to the site in your honor.
Here is the scenario:
Siemens SX66
The IMEI is 353030000772202 on the outside of the box it came in.
The IMEI is 353030000772202 on the back of the phone under the battery
I live in Kimberly, Idaho 83341 - Cingular is not available in this area. Our carrier here is Edge Wireless, a member of the AT&T Wireless network.
Problem - because there is no Cingular in this area, the phone will not work.
when I put in my SIM from Edge Wireless the phone displays the SIMlock page with the following Error Message - "Network is locked, Please input unlock code"
I was told today that the phone is SOC locked (limited by certain System Operator Codes) instead of SIMlocked
Thanks to everyone for all of the valuable information that you have provided on this site. - RED

Weird. I have a Cingular branded SX66 with an AT&T Sim card in it, no problem. I assume mine is unlocked.
When/where did you buy yours?
Also, could you please post your firmware version?

how can i check if phone is SIMLOCKED?

How can i check if my t-mobile wing (says htc on back) is SIM LOCKED? also if anyone knows any good programs to deal with this, please give advice. Appreciate all the help, and xda forum rocks.
Very Simple
Try using a sim card from a diffrent cell phone provider other then t-mobile and it works then well i guess its sim-unlocked
what ^ he said is a good way to tell. Also most phones bought from the provider are locked, you can go have them unlock it and usually they will do it. (most will wait till your past your contract though).

[Q] Unlocking Captivate Without SIM

Hello all,
I'm new to all this unlocking and rooting thing so I wanted to ask you something.
Today I ordered from Amazon Samsung Captivate Galaxy S AT&T branded. The thing is that I live in Georgia, so there is no such thing as AT&T
I read as much to learn that I need to unlock my phone, but no one has ever mentioned if it's possible without having the branded SIM card.
So can I unlock my phone without having AT&T SIM card?
Yes you can unlock without sim card. If you get service through any carrier other than at&t that uses sim cards, you will be asked for unlock code.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Once you insert sim from "other carrier" the phone will ask for unlock code.. enter code at this time.

I do believe there is an app, that will find and store the code. Then when you insert other carriers sim, it unlocks automatically. There are quite a few posts about unlocking in the developement section..

First of all thank you very much for lightening-quick reply.
I'll try to look but I've never had an android and I'm interested, will it start without sim card? if not, how can I install the app for generating unlock code? or did you mean to get code by PC app?
Thanks in advance,
Gio
Ya your phone will start without a SIM card in it, and i believe the app he was reffering to earlier was one found in the android market
Thank you all
That feels much safe
Thank you all for your time
I think I'll handle from here

[Q] Newbie - Understanding unlocking

Hi All, (I just tried to pot this but this site crashed after a three minute wait, so hope this is not a duplicate)
I have been a developer of window applications for many years and have finally decided to see about working with winphone. Sorry for the really basic questions but I am totally out of my depth here. Once I get started with the phone, the programming will not be such an issue as I have looked at some source code for winphone apps and it is all pretty straight forward stuff. I have installed the SDK and so far, so good.
I have owned a smart phone for two weeks so be gentle, please.
I have been given a Nokia 520 AT&T GoPhone as a test bed. It is of course locked to AT&T pre-paid. I would like to use the TMo SIM from my
current phone but the GoPhone spits on it with "unknown network."
I need to understand exactly what unlocking means. If I follow the process for a new ROM here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515453
Will the phone still be tied to the AT&T network or will the TMo SIM now work?
I have seen a section on the msoft site for dev-unlocking, I have paid the $19 fee to join the low-level devs and now wondering if that unlocking process will allow the use of the TMo SIM or must I buy an unlocked 520 or something else.
I'd really appreciate some guidance here.
Thanks
GSM radio firmware is usually what controls the SIM lock, and is usually completely separate from the OS firmware. I do not believe Nokia Care Suite can SIM-unlock (or change the SIM lock) for you, although I have not personally tried.
Please do NOT continue starting new threads instead of discussing these topics on the existing threads where they belong! In addition, the question about dev-unlock vs. SIM-unlock has been asked (and answered) many times before. Rule #1 of this forum: Search Before Posting! (No, dev unlock has absolutely zilch to do with SIM lock and it won't help you there.)
