First off, here is where we are putting al of the files for this project:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Harrier/WM5 Project/
For those who don't know, the HTC Apache is the first CDMA WM5 phone. Being that the only Blue Angel form factor available ROM is GSM based not CDMA Harrier based, in order for us to make WM5 work on a CDMA Harrier we are going to be taking the files we need from thr Apache.
Now, on the server right now is a complete file dump from an Apache which should contain all of the needed files. It's a file called "Apache 1.03.00 WWE File Dump.rar" and located here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Apache/
We are working with Apache owners right now to also get the EVDO Radio from the Apache also uploaded. We already have an EVDO-Radio PRL and it is uploaded under the file name "PRL 10026 Modded 4 EVDO Radios.rar". We are going to try and use the EVDO Radio from the Apache and if we can this PRL should work until we get the 20215 PRL from the Apache. If we can't use the Apache's radio, this PRL will work with the non-Apache EVDO Radio. It's uploaded in a file called "Harrier EVDO Radio HA01_151.rar". This 10026 PRL is simply modded to be EVDO Radio compatible, it will NOT give you EVDO. We are also going to get the Apache's ExtROM uploaded so we have all of the SPCS carrier specific apps and features that we need.
Ok, the only I think we are going to be able to do this, is to have a knowledgable BA owner like Buzz, mamaich, ramram, and others, help us Harrier owners like me. We need a BA owner to help us get the current BA WM5 ROM to boot on a Harrier. Right now we get a "NO GSM" error and it won't boot. Hopefully one of these knowledgable GSM guys will help us figure out which files in the BA ROM are causing this and take the needed files to fix this from the Apache file dump and copy them on a GSM BA and then get that on an SD card and uploaded so we can atleast get it to boot. Then I think us Harrier guys can figure out most everything else and patch it using the Apache's files so we don't have to bother the BA guys anymore.
So, are there any BA guru's willing to help on this project?
Also on the server are the following needed files which are Harrier specific:
2003SE ExtROM Resizer.rar
2003SE ExtROM Unhide & Unlock.rar
Harrier EVDO Radio HA01_151.rar
mamaich's 5.03.02 WWE (Patched v2).rar (BA ONLY right now!)
mamaich's Fix's.rar
Missing Files from Apache 1.03.00 WWE.rar
Missing Files from HIM WM5.rar
PRL 10026 Modded 4 EVDO Radios.rar
ROM Dump Apps.rar
WM5 File Dumper.rar
WM5 ROM Installer.rar

what can I do?
Bump.
Any news yet?
Ill jump in and see what I can do to help
any news?
BUMP!!
I have an extra device I can beat up on
if there is anything I can do...I have an extra vx 6600 (don't ask) that I can beat up on, Load, Reload as many times as needed. I can't make phone calls or test the quality of phone call, but I can test signal strength.
if I can help...Let me know,
Matt
Ditto on the "extra" XV6600 tip... If people need stuff tested over and over, I can do that. Have flashed my old T-Mobile Wallaby dozens of times using SD Card method, happy to do the same to my "other" XV6600.
Still nothing?
Alright...
Is there a thread where we can petition HTC to make a WM5 device with stuff we want so we can quit waiting on this to come out?

WTH! lets do something with this project! cdma phones are just as deserving as gsm phones.
Anyone able to get hands on cdma wm5 roms?
I see there are some apache files... will these work with the harrier?
Anyone have a spare ppc to test them out on?
I would but I only have 1 ppc and I cant afford to wreck it!
The only way to do it is if we can unlock the BA's ROM which no one seems to be able here to do. We can only unock the ExtROM...
havnt the gsm guys had to do this for their phones? if so ... why can't they help us do that to ours? not enough time for us? hmmmm
it would appear that way...

Ill be following this thread to upgrade my phone to WM5, im new I just need to make sure, should I even attempt this upgrade on my Sprint PPC 6601?
VZ Harrier want WM5
How are we comming on this. I really would liuke to try it. Don't care if I wreck my phone
da project -
Hi, yeah got a imate PDA2k EDVO CDMA live in Australia hanging to get this mobile 5 going for some reason. (heard its crap) but yeah. Keep the dream alive team.
Bounty over at PDAPhoneHome
There is currently a bounty being offered at PDAPhoneHome for a working CDMA WM5 Rom. With mamaich's and gmap's recently released apps this shouldn't be to hard. The link is http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60026&perpage=20&pagenumber=1
I'll offer my CDMA device up for testing if one of you BA guys wanna try.
by the looks of that "bounty being offered" thread... things are getting VERY CLOSE! if anyone can offer any assistance in completing the final steps please come forward... we need YOU!!
I have a feeling someone will be recieving that bounty REAL soon.
Good luck to the individuals who are making the dream transition from wm2003se to wm5 on our harriers a realisation.
Thanks in advance

Yeah... keeping the dream alive till it becomes a real nightmare
They're making progress, and it actually looks like there's some hope.
In the meantime I'm gonna go get a newer rom and try that... things been acting up on me lately.
WM5 fix? HA! Not for 4-6 months after we get it... How many bugs were in the GSM version?
But there is hope. And I'm all for a good nightmare.
I'll be one of the first to try the upgrade and make my phone useless.
I was there the night the GSM one got posted and may have been the first CDMA person to see the "No GSM" screen.
Someone make me take a programing class so I can be more useful
Currently on ftp there is a WM5 Harrier romdump but only 2MB. Is there a WM5 OS ROM extractor/romdumper that works?

Hi,
Will the PH20A2 CDMA Verizon (audiovox vx6600) have an upgrade to the latest win 5.0 version? There is some chatter on the rest of the internet but the version posted here specifically excludes the US CDMA Version.
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.....
Thanks....
I read on another forum that people were trying to cook a PPC-6700 ROM for the CDMA BAs. They couldn't use the GSM ROMs because it kept trying to find a GSM radio.
:?
I think we should get multiple users to voice needs and interest to Audiovox as well as Verizon. i will be happy to draft and post the letter but we'll need some consensous among the partners. I just hate to see Audiovox or Verizon push a new device down our throat because they are too lazy or incompetent for the simple OS upgrade.
can we upgrade or not
You should follow this thread.

you've got to be kidding me... do you understand the english language ? i read your other post and i dont think you could even perform the upgrade if someone was kind enough to provide it here....
I rang O2 today to enquire as to when a WM6 Rom would be available for my XDA IIs they said that they had no plans to release one but did say to search the net as there could well be one as there is no reason as to why the XDA IIs couldn't run WM6.
So i'm going to keep googleing but so far no joy i wish i was a good programmer lol
Well that's O2 for you. They don't have any plan of providing software upgrade to our unit, even with my atom exec. They just leave the dirty work for other developers.
They don't even have wm5 as an official update... :/

at all "newbies" here:there is NOT a WM6 for BA.
and most of us dont think that it will ever seen on our machines.
there are to many problems to port it to this device.
Is it not possible to cook a rom of WM6 using the hardware drivers from WM5 for the chipset etc of the phone?
I have no idea how to do it but i was wondering if some of the magicians out there may be able to work the old magiC?
No. It's not going to happen. We tried, we had ideas, but theres a problem with the XIP porting I believe so it isn't going to happen for us.
If it does - it WILL get posted. Don't keep asking.

hey this page claims to have WM6 for all pocket pcs scroll down andf it will be listed at bottom for the BA
appologies i have downloaded and it helmis rom claiming to be WM6 !! i think damn the con artists
Also i have seen that T mobile users are being offered a WM6 ROM on their MDA III which is the BA isn't it?

see there we go

Not to be an arse about it, but it's obvious that you did no research on this question before posting. A search of the forums would have shown you the thread located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=244441&highlight=CDMA+Harrier+wm5
You might get more results if you at least look first. If you have looked, you didn't state it and your post sounded like you couldn't be arsed enough to look.
Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm trying to make a point that many people seem to have problems grasping.
I've searched the forums many times, and I would still post the question from time to time if others didn't just to be sure someone didn't just discover something.
I personally would like to know if there is a Harrier CDMA upgrade to WM5 or WM6 that forgoes the the radio, or if someone has tried to use the radio "drivers" out of a 6700 (Apache) to any degree of sucess. In my research, I've seen the idea floated, but I'm not sure how deeply the situation has been probed.
I do appreciate the work Helmi and others do, and I simply want to know if there is any update on this front.
Guys, does a harrier get completely bricked if it is upgraded to WM6 or does it just lose its radio/phone functionality? The reason I ask is I am a Kaiser user but I have my old Verizon Harrier that I'd like to make use of its gorgeous 3.5" display for movies while in the car (very safe, I know).
I'm on ATT now, so no more Verizon. I'd be using this device strictly for its PDA functionality.
I realize I can just use TCPMP on the wm2003 OS as is, but i figured there were some chefs that had done some pretty sweet roms for the device. Heck, I don't even need WM6, I'll just take the best Rom, regardless of which winmo version.
I know in the kaiser forums, duttythroy is pretty much the heavyweight chef. Is there a similar heavyweight rom or chef that everyone tends to lean towards on the harrier/BA? I spent about 15 mins doing some searches and reading Wikis but honestly couldn't find any info on harrier cooked roms.
It is now possible that Harrier could be hacked.
Unfortunately, the HTC CDMA hacking community has moved on. The HTC encryption on the ROM wasn't broken until after Harrier was long discontinued.
And, with new devices sporting gpsOne and EV-DO Rev A, there are now clear technical advantages to modern devices.
Ideally, HTC would have done the right thing and kept supporting older models. But, you already know that...
I don't care about the radio on the Harrier
As the previous poster mentions...Can I slap a Blue Angel ROM on my Harrier if I don't care about the radio? It would be a great 2nd device if I could get WM5 or WM6 on it. Again...I don't need (nor want) the CDMA radio on it to work.
Thanks.
no sir, tried myself, almost bricked phone DO NOT DO IT.
Hey, I'm sick of using WM6.1 I feel it's worse then WM5!

Although,I can answer this very precisely, and I'm tempted to,but I'll just say that after 236 posts, you still can't find official carrier's wm5 rom of your phone, that's even more Sick !

What does posts have to do with this?
why don't try finding it? maybe you'll know what i mean.

That proves it ! Never heard of a latest wm5 8125 Rom that uses Tmo.Posts have got everything, with that number of posts, you shud have known, there's no such Rom. Cingular 8125 and T-mobile MDA are basically same devices build by HTC.Any Wizard wm5 rom, either from cingular or T-mobile will flash and work perfectly on it.You searched you never found it,just a 'Hint' , you'll find all the latest official wm5 stock roms here,"Read the freaki'n forum":-

Secondly,I wud rather advise you to check your language, abusive words won't get you anywhere.I can also be very abusive, but I prefer to be polite, respectfull and calm. This Forum doesn't encourage and promote abusive and hostile attitude, you might get penalized if reported or 'Moderator' finds out. Be careful there.
thank you for the link.
I know either frimware can be used on the 8125, but i wanted the most stable one for the 8125 and used the t-mo frimware. because for most of the frimware i tested shows t-mo on the load screen. for the ones that doesn't show t-mo it wasn't that stable with my network.
Also, was not being hostile or abusive to you. unless you consider the word "fool" as abusive. then im sorry, I say the word Fool often to people.
and i didn't call you an asshole if thats that's what you're thinking, I was simply implying i wasn't one. and people that usually ask without searching are.
so no need to feel offending.
anyway, thanks for the link. and i don't see how posts costs for experience. Most of my posts are asking questions in topics.
if you want to know why i'm sick of WM6 frimwares, here are the main reasons:
*phone hangs when i'm doing something, and then a call comes in.
*typing too fast on the keypad or keyboard will case the phone to soft reset, like typing an email reply.
*the phone hangs when an alarm starts and I never get to hear my alarm.
I don't know if ya'll noticed.
But the hard SPL for the blackstone had been released.
BANG + 20 roms released aswell.
Why isn't this happening for the Xperia?
We only have 2 good ROM builders....
I'm downloading the Xperia Citchen of Itje,
and going to try to get my old Rom coocking skills back.
I would love the see many roms for the Xperia.
Cmon, who wouldn't ???
Could some of the Rom coockers make a tutorial for the public.
So more ppl get involved into Rom coocking!!!!
Thx.

HAHAHA duh. But now back on topic
A tutorial would be a help, i've downloaed kovsky package, but as its my first time playing with a windows mobile, I have a lot to learn
I agree with you, the xperia has really very few support from cookers here.
i noticed that weeks ago, there are only one or two rooms released for x1 thought the hard spl was released long time ago.
I hope we will see more cookers on x1 section soon.
perhaps sony pay them for not releasing roms =)
I'm sure we'll see more I'm sure when the X1a is widely available in the US. And then in three years when its availble in Canada
we dont exactly have a lot of base roms to work with
so if we were suddenly inundated with new cooked roms then theyd only be based on the same couple of core os revisions.
I am also an owner of a SE X1 and I am trying to learn to cook my own Rom.
I have read on the forum as also the Wiki of XDA for 3 weeks and I read so many treats about:
• flashing my X1.
• creating my own packages.
• cooking different kind of roms with several kind of packages.
• and now im trying to build my own ROM with my own splash screen and
with a lighter version of WM6.1.
I'm learning quite fast. But sad enough there itn´t a Master tutorial for doing al this. After all this i want to build my own Panel. I don't know if
that can be customised. but I give it a try.
I wanna thank you all for all the online Tutorials.
I´m also going to try youtube for some Videos about "Cooking you own Rom"
Greetz PeteyB
Please cook ROMS
I know that X1 is not favorite as DIAMOND,
but please for god sake cook some ROMS.
Thank You Very Much
CHEERS !!!

Courier advice to me says my X1 (supposedly "a") may be delivered today or tomorrow, so I was looking forward to playing. Too close to Xmas family-time for very much of that, however.
There is JL's basic 1.04 ROM. Full extraction of this nbh file allows you to add/subtract what you want. As I understand it, the XIP section is device-independent, so newer XIP's from any of the sub-forums are useful. OEM's are what SE has coded for this device and these are obviously limited. Additional CAB packages are there for the looking.
All up, an incentive to understand dsm, rgu, hv etc. This is not easy as there are only snippets of competing, conflicting and incomplete information available in the various sub-forum resources.
One thing I hope to post before Xmas is the accuracy of the 850Mhz UMTS availability in the X1a. If this proves accurate, extracting the radio ROM is my next step.
I think the reason why there are not many cooked rom because not a lot of cooker own the experia. And the X1a looks like an endanger species in NA so that's prob the reason why.
they key question is, will the x1a roms work on x1i cause of the one camera and fps recording diffrence.....
+1 for a tutorial on creating a simple, asumes only basic knowlage about the device rom cooking guide
there is alot of cool stuff in the wiki but it it does not have everything and it no organised properly. im still forced to read ridicouls amounts of irrelevent text in old threads
that would greatly help

Yep I've built two roms based on ported xips for this now, one off the newest blackstone, and one off the raphael, but wasn't happy with either, I think I prefer building off the stock SEUS rom.

Two separate questions here:
1) x1a radio ROM's on X1i ? Obviously, that cannot yet be answered. Read my post, please - I will try to answer the question when the device finally arrives, maybe today or tomorrow, by extracting the radio and posting it here. Hassling will not make this happen any quicker, OK ?
2) crippled fps recording ? I'm afraid I couldn't care less. For me, a total irrelevancy

Yes, of course, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen:
1) there are a variety of ways to deal with the rgu's, dsm's, initflashes, hv files etc. There seems to be no common agreement amongst the experienced cooks on how to do these necessary operations; certainly, there is no complete guide on this, just snippets of conflicting and incomplete advice ... and some of this is plain wrong
2) most cooks protect their ROM in any case, since donations are part of their income. There are some genuinely noble exceptions, such as M'Amine and cs_shekhar, but extracting their ROM's reveals very different methods of dealing with 1) above
Our best way forward is to examine those ROM's that we can extract fully and sort out a methodical path. At least, that's what I'm attempting.

That's good !! Mine is now not due till tomorrow.
But before you go attempting a dump (and I'll help you through that), the most critical question we have is this:
1) since you bought it from Telstra, I'm assuming you have a Telstra SIM capable of 3G. (If not, end of story).
If this assumption is correct, the question becomes "which area or region are you in ?" This is most important for the next step, because if you are in a city-type area (Sydney, Melbourne etc), your 3G will automatically connect to the UMTS 2100Mhz band that Telstra uses in these areas.
Since the X1i also does this, it will tell us nothing new.
If you are in a regional area, your SIM will attempt to connect 3G on the UMTS 850Mhz band because the 2100Mhz band cannot penetrate the larger distances with its shorter wavelength. The Telstra 3G-enabled SIM card does this switch automatically. but if the hardware or firmware in the device cannot connect to the 850Mhz frequency, you will not be able to do 3G in a regional area.
So, which area are you in, please ? If regional, can you connect to 3G?
We should buy Dutty a X1... I had Diamond, Touch Pro and now X1. X1 has the best potential, but is lagging with the best cooks being in other devices.
