Qtek 9090 screen broke - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Recentely my Qtek 9090 screen broke and now I am in the need to find a spare part .
According to http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ need only the Touchscreen but it's real hard to find .
This link http://www.gethightech.com/ an O2 screen .
I disassembled almost all the qtek and I woul like to know :
1) how disassemble the glass from the LCD ?
2) who sells the spare parts at a human price ?
Thanks for answers
Ciao from Italy

Cia Gbrand, come stai?
Try reading the WIKI BA Technical
You will find the answer to your questions there.
I posted them myself.
Folow the link:

Best regards,

Lcds differences
Thanks to Kevlar-Source there is now a disassembly procedure at
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=DIS_BA
The fact is that after installing a nre Lcd screen from PDASMART the screen is completely blank , even if the Qtek seems to work , lights sounds etc
There are differences between the two LCD , I am attaching a picture hoping someone will find the cause of the problem ...
Ciao !!

it is too much for lcd.,besides T-mobile is avalible for200$ now a days.
is there any chinies site or suppliers having this,,,???
no web site as yet just this e-mail address [email protected]
Why are they so dear ?
I have searched all over the place for them there's not much out there.
When I used to work in the semiconducter industry as a debug analyst for Motorola there screens peaked only to $50.oo max..
I don't require the full assembly. Just the LCD !! that link site is taking the urine ??

P.S. the unlocking worked ??

Warning on WWW.PDASMART.COM

There is something I would tell to Forum :
Recently my screen broke , after a research I found www.pdasmart.com had the spare part for my Qtek .
At http://www.pdasmart.com/pdaphonexda2s.htm they advertise the part will fit for XDA IIs / Sx66 / pda2k / MDA III / 9090 / PPC-6600 pda/phone.
So I assumed this was the right part for me and ordered it .
After recedived it on 13 October I realized that the new screen was not working on my Qtek .
Everything else was working , lights , programs through SOTI but not the screen .
I wrote them a Mail asking for assistance , NO ANSWER to date .
I posted here at xda-developers.com and after some work found out what u can read at :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelLCD
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelBoardIDs
Now, I applied today at PDASMART for an RMA of the LCD , I'm not sure they will answer .
In conclusion ,
Whatch out for BA LCD replacement and make sure it's the right part for your Board
whatch out for PDASMART.COM who sells too easily parts without knowing exactly what they are for !
not sure if it was my link, but i linked to that site a while back, i never got the chance to order one from the site, i prob wont now, but hey man, im sorry if its my fault.
[EDIT] i just had a look at the site, if you cant get intouch with them by email, why not try giving them a call???, i know america is a little pricey to call, but so is like 60 quid for a screen that wont work, its worth a go!!
I don't think u have to feel guilty for posting the address , but PDASMART should for shipping Sony LCD without knowing that Qtek can have 2 different boards and 2 differend LCDs .
the fact is that often a broken screen means 300 € repair and weeks of time repairing for an object u can find at 500 € on the web , that's really too much !
It seems that HTC is not very good in after sales , other brands like Palm or Ipaq are like open books for users , HTC devices seems to come from an other misterious planet , That's why this Forum exists and is so popular .
I just was unlucky , without knowing I had a possibility out of two and I picked up the wrong one !
But I am still waiting for an answer from PDASMART , I will not phone them , I think I have the right to be contacted by them after buying 225 USD + shipping for an LCD that does not work on my QTEK !
Still waiting , I will be patient for a while then I'll see what to do .
Anyway thanks for the answer !
PDASMART Horror Story
PDASMART shouldn't be trusted.
They held my PDA for over 2 months - never contacted me and never shipped it back when they determined that they couldn't fix it - even though I paid for shipping already!

I found it a Ebay ;-)
Hello
I have a screen available. it works but cant guarantee anything. if you are interested let me know.
You have to be careful though as two types of screens are used in the blueangel! i have the sony screen. only way you can find out it by opening your device, and on the back of your damaged screen quote me the part number.
Catch ya

Insidertip: Where can my Diamond be repaired?

Hi,
The XDA Diamond of my little brother has some cracks between the display and the touch-surface. (see attachement)
I sent the device O2, but they (their service-partner) said "no warranty" and want ~ 300€ for the repair.
I just looked into the service-manual, because I thought about repairing it by myself.
But I think it's to difficult for me.
Now I wonder if anybody know a cheap mobile-shop, who can repair my Diamond.
I live in Cologne. My Brother (and my family) near Hannover. (both in Germany)
But Online-Shops are also good.
Thank you!
the screen is on ebay - item 230285205211. They also offer repairs
search for the dismantle guide (sorry don't have it to hand)
i also got cracks on my screen just like your brother....
I decided to order one of the replacement screen from ebay that comes with the needed tools to do it myself. i payed about 25 dollars including shipping and should receive it anytime from now.... If you r willing to wait , i ll post feedback on how hard it is to do it yourself.
About dismantling the diamond u ll find easily links from google.
Good luck!
how do the cracks actually appear in the first place?
was it the result of something the manufacturer might classify as "abuse" or "accidental damage"?
Often I pick up my phone (HTC Victor) and think that it feels quite fragile compared to something like the N95... so i treat it accordingly - ie, with a little more care..
I already looked throu the disamble guide.
@Sebienbon
It would be great, if you would post feedback and maybe photos of the repair process (step-by-step) wich are not in the disamble guide.
Meanwhile I will do one more try with the service partner.
@bobbified
It just happened. I think my brother carried the device in his trouser pocket (jeans) when he was riding by bike. But imo such a expensive phone should be strong enough.
Also theere is no damage on the outside.
@hays
Thanks. But I am not sure if this is the right part.
My LCD still works. All pixels are fine.
But the "whatever" between the LCD and touch-surface is cracked.
Thanks everybody so far
i just got the kit this morning but the screw driver is wrong( probably because of a different country , i live in denmark and the screen comes from asia... so i ll go buy a tiny screw driver that i miss and then give it a go
Hey,
I´ve got the same problem. But my Screen is more broken
Although it works.
I read the Service Manual too but im not sure if it works with this part:
http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-diamond-digitizer-p-2128.html
Because on the last Picture in the Manuel you see only the front part of the phone and nothing about the part linked above.
So I w`ont open it before I`m not sure whats exactly to do.
Also I asked some firms do make me an offer for repairing the mobile phone.
The best offer is 129,00 € or 169,00 € if the dismantling create scratches on the Display under the touch screen because they are glued.
Very expensive!
Now I´m waiting for your experiences too.

Man i wish i know of the manual to take this apart. You can fix it yourself if you take your time man, and dont be like me man. I took it apart thinking that the black tape under the battery is just tape!!!! And rip the mini-usb power ribbon. Man my heart sank.. So on that note if any of you guys know of a site or store to order parts from. please let me know also....
@lphar56
Is the diamond display made of glass and not the plastic stuff some other screens are made of???
The display is LCD so im guessing glas.. but it has a Touch Digitizer over the top.. that can scratch very easy and is only £15 off ebay

HTC diamond screen replacement
Hey guys!
AFAIK the cracks that appear are in the glass of the touch-screen-unit.
so i try to figure out how to replace this part only.
Is it glued to the LCD?
Which glue sould be used to fix it again?
Or does it even come with the screen?
I'd like to post a guide here if it works, so please help me answering this last question!
Also, replacing only the touchscreen would lower the repair cost to a third...
Thanks!
Still no update?? on the steps to remove digitizer?

Help needed. Broken screen.

Hi all,
My girlfriend has a MDA Vario III with a broken screen. The touchscreen is in tact but the screen itself is broken. Does anyone in Holland knows someone or a (online) shop who can fix this? Or if anyone has a service manual please let me know so i can order a screen and try to fix it myself.
TIA!!!
www.mikechannon.net
It's really easy to open and replace the screen in these. I've opened mine a few times, no problems.
Thanks so much for the manual. It really helps. I think i can do it myself. I have opend and fixed many Nokia phones but never a HTC. With the manual it should work. TNX again !
Search on ebay and other online places like cnn.cn for the screen and use that manual to replace it. Should be easy if you have experience opening devices.
Good luck and enjoy!
oh also while your at it, you might want to do the "screen hack" which allows you to tilt the screen to a greater angle than normal. I think a guide for it is found in the wiki, if not i remember it being on mike channon's site.

Thanks. I was looking for a screen at the www. This one is cheap also.
Can you tell me if this site is safe?
I ordered rom them before and sometimes the shipping is average speed and sometimes its insanely fast (considering its coming from hong kong).
The only issue i had with them is once i ordered a screen for an N82, the package arrived but you can tell it was opened by customs and taped back together. Well they didnt do a good tape job and there was no lcd in it. I emailed cnn.cn several times with no reply, so i just called my bank and reversed my payment. So i guess just buy insurance when you ship it and you'll be fine.
