Certificate Enroller - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

All,
Just upgraded to WM5 on my Cingular SX-66 and applied the relevant patches.
No issues at all apart from..... where is the application that allows you to enrol and install a Certificate ?
Without this cert I can't get onto the company's wireless network !
Thanks
Andy

Just double click the .cer file

I have no mehod of getting the Cert onto the device hence can't run the .CER :-(
The enroller application used to allow me to enter the URL of my Certificate Authority, enter my AD credentials and would then download the cert into my local store.
Help !!!

Just go to that url with PIE, download the file then rename it to something.cer (if not already) and double click it.

Thanks for the feedback, the issue I have is getting the Personal Certificate installed not the Root Certificates. To use web-enrolment for a personal cert is easy via a desktop but not through PIE (no active-x)
Does anyone have the cert enroller from PPC2003 SE for BA that I can try ?

Pocket Internet Explorer update Trinity-Hermes

Hi, I'm having a HTC Hermes, and since AKU3 and WM6 ROMs the Pocket Internet Explorer have a bug. It doesn't send the User Agent String anymore. This bug causes no access to provider-multimedia-content anymore.
On Trinity-HTC-ROMs the PIE does work, but I have no Trinity.
Can somebody please help and zip or rar the 4 hidden files in Windows Directory on Trinity starting with "ie"..
The files are in ROM-Memory, so you have to unhide and select the files and say Duplicate by tap&hold in Resco Explorer.
Then you get 4 files in Windows-Dir starting with "Copy of IE..."
These files can be copied outside of Windows to a zip and posted here if anybody want to help us Hermes-Owners.

I will do it just a minute
All the files start from IE is:
IECEExt.dll.0409.mui
IECEExt.dll
iexplore.exe
iexplore.lnk
I search in my dumped rom and in my ppc windows dir..
Did you whant those file's ???
YES YES, searching for them since weeks!!!
There it is....
Thank you very much.
I replaced the files, but still not working to connect to my Provider.
i tried to change the registry settings, where the User Agent is set, and now i changed the iexplorer.
What else can it be? The Internet Explorer still sending Mozilla/4.0 as User Agent, even if deleting all Mozilla/4.0 Strings!

that's a standard header on all User-Agent Strings... I suggest you get the regular one for IE from WM5 and port it across.

Installing Certificates issues

Hi All
I have the HTC tytn ii ( Kaiser ) and getting confused over trying to install a certificate required to sync to an exchange server..
I have the certificate, dropped it into various places on the Kaiser - ie/ windows folder - and tried to a) execute directly b) execute using the certinstaller.exe that the phone has on it.
On both occasions the file and program wont load the certificate....either stating 'run up a program to open the cert then find the cert to open'....or 'the certificates could not be imported. Please contact your system administrator'
The certificate issued to me also sits on my laptop and when double clicked will self execute and install so I know the cert is a good one..
Anyone have similar issues...or hopefullly a fix ??
Regards
Rich
What format is the exported certificate in? It needs to have a .cer extension for the built in CertInster.exe utility to be able to use it. Typically the cerificate is delivered as a .cab file which your IT/Exchange people should provision, however you should be able to use the 'raw' .cer root CA certificate.
Some info here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/so...6b6-0038-4e56-b1d4-b7b9af9ea6ef.mspx?mfr=true

Ask IT to do it for you with device management software

Or you can ask your IT department to use modern tools to deploy certificates, software, etc like Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager or EveryWAN Mobility Manager mobile device management tools.

"This device needs a later version of .net compact framework to use this application"

"This device needs a later version of .net compact framework to use this application"
Title says it all. I have "tried" to install several programs via the HTC touch pro, because I don't know how to do it using synchronizers. Anyways, when I go to to install a program, it says "This device needs a later version of .net compact framework to use this application". I have tried installing some software from microsoft.com, but my phone won't install a .msi.
Sorry if I sound so "noobish". This is my first wm6 phone.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but that's what I've been looking for, is the .cab file.
Is this a .exe or .cab file that you are trying to install?
You need to download from microsoft then install from the computer
as far as I'm aware there is no cab file
Worked for me
Yes. Connect to activsync, then run the file from your PC.

I don't run Windows XP, so it's not compatible.

Lastest NF v3.5
It works on my diamond so it should on yours. Cab file as you wish.
File can be downloaded 10 times, if its out send me PM so i can reupload.

"Error
This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.
This limit is reached.
To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector's Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector's Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

This is the message from the rapidshare about this sourse...what a pity.... anyway, thanks...

apks are just zip files. Set them to open with your archive manager or change the extension to .zip. All applications install their settings into /data/data/%PACKAGENAME% where %PACKAGENAME% is the Java-style package name of the app.
Ugh, no need to use the evil "R" word here. You're going to give us nightmares!
Each application stores its configurations/settings in its home directory in /data/data as pointed out by the previous poster. You might want to bone up on 'sqlite3' as most configuration settings tend to be stored in such databases.

I'am trying right now to find this confing files, thanks, I'll let you know if it's ok.
Note that depending on what you are trying to do, the config files may or may not be able to adjust the property you're after. No matter what, the program itself must support what you are trying to do (this goes for ALL OS's -- you simply can't change something that is irrelevant and expect it to do what you want) and more often than not, the ability to adjust that property would be presented by the program itself.
That is, of course, not to say that manually adjusting the config files is useless, because there IS a lot you can do directly from the config files.

Download APK2EXE and NSIS install system
Follow these steps to create your executable!
* Extract APK2EXE to a new directory
* Add your APK to the directory
* Doubleclick APK2EXE.NSI and edit the 3 lines containing information about your application.
* Right click the NSI file, and select 'Compile NSIS Script' - this will create your install EXE
* Done!
And it is a .apk to .exe converter !!!
Can anyone tell me why it doesn't work ? Many thanks
because your trying to run a Android application on Windows.
it's like saying I want to make this MAC application run on windows.. it just doesn't work..
I dont care what programs say.. Its not coded for Windows so it wont understand what the program does...
BTW you application you speak of is meant to install APK's FROM windows not TO windows
"Hot on the heels of my installAPK utility to let you install APKs from your Windows desktop, I now have another neat trick... which allows developers to distribute APKs as Windows EXE files instead."

shouldnt be too tough. just make a executable file that installs and configures adb, allows user to select apk or select a folder of apk's, create a .bat file that tells windows command prompt adb push the .apk to the sd card, then adb install /sdcard/nameofapk.apk
simple enough!
Can anyone tell me how to edit the app / extracted APK file to make the phone think it's a completely different app i.e. install it twice...
Not trying to cause trouble, I'm just looking to install an older version of an app as well as the updated version...

Thanks for replying, I've had a go with that and extracted / decompiled, compiled, signed, and that doesn't work, when I try to install the newly created apk it still tries to overwrite it...
I've watched the vid and read the comments but haven't worked it out yet... Can you point me in the right direction about which bit to edit?
i think you need apktool
Cool, I'll look into that... Any pointers on how to do it once I've got apktool?
command line usage, this tool unpak and repak
