SPB Pocketplus themes +WM5 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I'm using WM5 on my MDAIII a few weeks now. I've installed SPB Pocketplus
and tried the SPB themes. After installing a theme the system ignored the theme and goes back to the original WM5 theme.
But after loading the extended VGA theme's and playing them a few times my system hang's and I've done a soft-reset after shutoff the power.
Now my system accepts the SPB themes and i've a much better screen quality, more colours and a much faster sytem. Also the TomTom maps looks better. It seems that there was something wrong with the video settings. Perhaps the system was running in a poor basic video mode? Perhaps loading a VGA Ext theme has changed the settings?

Customisation idea (I'm asking for help/pointers as to how to do this)

I've not really liked the pink/purple of the T-Mobile comm manager icons, so I installed duttythroy's 10 button one.
I really like the simplicity of the of these icons, and the blue is my fave color.
What I want to do is change as much of the graphics as possible (home screen, dialer screen and others) to be the same style as the comm manager.
Any ideas of how to do this?
Any help ?
Check out Schaps Rom for Hermes.... in one release you will find the necessary cabs for comm manager, audio manager, htc home and so on... as well as schaps black theme. give it a try - dont forget to make a backup.
If you look in the \windows folder you will find all the .png files you are looking for they are HH_*.png and L_*.png and #.png If you edit them and change them around and put them back into the \windows dir on your phone they will change the appearance
Take a look here I have done some http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335652
Russ
Nice icons
I have almost got it like I want it.
The only problem is the Home background.
I have PaintShopPro 7 and I have created some backgrounds, but when I use start> settings> home to select the background they get displayed very pixellated and as if the brightness has been turned up very high on the image.
I have tried several file formats for them as well.
I've got installed:
HTChome customizer
duttythroy WMP touch skin
Sharkey48 Softkey Changer
jizy HTC Action Screen
RC Mod v.2.1 by o3blig
Deathace MDA Vario III de-Brand
ScaryBear Software QuickTasks (reports database not available dialogue, then shows as it should on homescreen)
Resco (explorer, photo viewer pro, registry editor)
AE Software AE Button Plus
lokmeup IE Slow Scroll Fix
Windows Live 10.6.33.0600 (which only shows the loading for less than a second and does nothing)
try using the built in photo viewer app to set the today screen wallpaper. Make sure to select 0% for the transparency.
Yep...
That's sorted it

Question on Theme (.tsk) and TouchFlo 3D

Dear All,
Since the TouchFlo 3D eats up a lot of resources and makes my diamond hangs so I have turned it off from Today,
and I have created a VGA theme by using ThemeGenCE and use it in diamond.
Here comes the questions,
First: When I apply the VGA theme the wall paper only show a part of the full image, just like QVGA device using VGA theme...... Are there anything needed to set in registry in order to display a VGA theme?
Second: I disable the TouchFlo 3D in today, is this the way to turn if off? or it will still run in the background?
Hope someone can help me~~
Thx in advance~~~!!

I also disable the TF3D from today by I tested with TF3D configuration tools to turn off all the TF3D taps and found that my ram after reboots is higher. FYI.....

You have to set DPI to 192 if you want a VGA Today screen.
See help file which comes with ThemeGenCE and the tutorial here :

[APP] Manila 2D All-in-one installer for Raphael (with Footprints... and OEM package)

UPDATE1: Footprints tab and other minor fixes.
Original post:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi!
I'm usually known in the Omnia community for my M2D All-in-one installers. It was just a question of time to create it for the Raphael too.
This is a very early release, it has a lot of known bugs, (and it might have a lot of unknown bugs). It includes Manila2D version 1911 (patched by xplode), Footprints (by KDKobes), AudioManager (version 1911, but the exe files are from version 1819, because the 1911 exe wouldn't run for me), MHubVo codec files and lots of fixes for the VGA version.
This installer does not include: HTC Album, Youtube, Google Maps, Opera, lots of other thing you might need for non-Raphael phones
I only tested this installer on a HTC Touch Pro. I tried to only add packages that are missing from the Raphael, while keeping other files that are included.
If you want to install this on a device other than Raphael (or Diamond), then first install all the other requirements that might be missing (like HTC Album, youtube, etc.)
This installer still has a lot of issues.
The following are known errors:
Picture tab only has pictures aligned to a quarter part of the image frame
Changing pictures only work if you sweep in the first quarter of the screen on the pictures tab
Weather animation on the weather tab is misaligned
Location tab has some strange rendering bugs sometimes
Settings/Sounds has a mis-aligned screen
Landscape mode is broken
Application icons in the program selector are buggy
Locations in the weather tab are a bit distorted
Already fixed bugs:
Footprints tab is very buggy. I tried to reskin it to VGA, but then Manila2D experienced a lot of memory errors. It might be my mistake, but unfortunately I think this is because the maximum memory a WinMo application can allocate is 16MB, and M2D got to close to this boundary with large icons. It might work though after sacrificing other tabs (like locations)
Footprints application is buggy, and might crash a lot
Buttons on the music tab are not working. It will however display the actual song correctly, but you still have to load up Audiomanager to switch songs
I try to fix them as soon as I find a solution for them. I will also keep an eye on the Footprints development too, to include the latest patches from them too.
Setup guide
Hard reset (might not be nescessary, but you need at least 40MB of storage memory)
Disable everything on the today screen
Install Manila2D all-in-one.cab
DO NOT LET THE DEVICE GO TO STANDBY DURING INSTALL!
DO NOT LET THE DEVICE GO TO STANDBY DURING INSTALL!
DO NOT LET THE DEVICE GO TO STANDBY DURING INSTALL!
Set the theme and background (optional)
Soft reset (might be optional, but advised)
Enable Touchflo on the today screen
Enjoy (optional)
If you're into ROM cooking, or want to edit the source of the cab file, I also provide the package files, and an easy-to-use install creator to create modified cab files.

Many thanks to xplode, KDKobes, herg62123, pijulius and the other guys who made VGA TF2D possible, the guys at the omnia community and everyone else who are involved somehow with M2D/me/etc.
Wooh! Thank you so much for this i have been waiting for a m2d port for our phone.
Thanks for this release. Here my comments:
footprint and pics are displayed in qvga even if the borders are vga
clock is mixed. you have both analog and digital overlayed
inside footprint it displays some glitches and i don't see the pic taken before, just the city and date
regards

I'm working on the footprints errors. I think I'll disable the Locations and the Photos tab and keep only Footprints. Maybe this way memory consumption will be fine.
I intentionally mixed the clocks, just to show that clock does work too
The default 4 pics in footprints are broken for me, but the new pictures I take are fine.

Can you disable the digital clock and leave the original analog ones?
Is there no way, to scale the pics to vga inside the frames of footprint and photo tab?
Thanks, and let me know, if I can support you (e.g. free server space, etc.)

1. Yes, it can be done by editing HTCHomeSettings (will do it in the next release)
2. Currently I'm trying to scale the footprints to normal size. I hope I'll manage to do something
Updated:
- Fixed Footprints / Footprints tab
- Removed Analog clock, Pictures tab, Locations tab
- Fixed Audiomanager
You might turn pictures/locations on, by editing HTCHomeSettings.xml but beware that M2D eats 17MB of memory already, and around 18-20 it gets real buggy and stops working! The pictures on the footprints tab are still small (not 2x, but only 1.5x the size of the original), because of memory contraints!
DL: http://winmo.sztupy.hu/m2daiovga.html
This version seems to be fine for everyday usage too.

Has anyone been able to get M2D running along side TF3D? Basically what I'm asking is has anyone been able to install this on a Touch PRO/Fuze without messing up TF3D?
Reason I ask is because both TF3D and M2D have a Manila.exe and I would imagine installing M2D would break TF3D.
I have both installed, and you can run one at a time w/o problem. I'm gonna flash one of the lite rom and get gid of touchflo3D.

M2D eats a lot of memory, and porting it to WVGA would mean even more memory. So if you want to port it then first disable almost all tabs (keep home, people, settings and programs). Only after that try to change the XML+images. Always keep an eye about the memory usage and if it goes beyond 18-19 megs, then consider lowering image sizes.

allright.
Its mostly the background images that needs changed (made longer )
I got it working on wvga, just need to fix the sizes on the images.
x1 has alot of memory, so memory usage is not a big consern for me
cheers

TP has a lot of memory too, but in Windows Mobile if an application eats more memory than 16-20megs it will crash. So this limit is a hard limit unfortunately
Hi sztupy,
Did you make any progress, I mean on the remaining bugs ?
Specially on those:
# Picture tab only has pictures aligned to a quarter part of the image frame
# Changing pictures only work if you sweep in the first quarter of the screen on the pictures tab
# Weather animation on the weather tab is misaligned
# Locations in the weather tab are a bit distorted
# Application icons in the program selector are buggy
Cheers

Not really. To solve the picture you need either switch back to QVGA (so put the picture in the first quarter), or do some heavy disassembling which I dislike (took me 6 hours of debugging to find where Footprints store the coordinates, and I don't think I have the energy to do that again with Manila...). And as I said: larges pictures = more memory consumption, which is a bad thing
The other things are hard coded too (except maybe for the weather animation. For that changing the pictures might help)
Hi, thanx for your fast replay.
So really to clarify. At first I want to use Manilla 2D because it's faster than manilla 3D, and has less memory consumption. But you say that on a VGA device Manilla 2d is consuming a huge amount of memory.
So for VGA, do you recommand then Manilla 3d better that Manilla 2d ? in other words, what's the adventage of Manilla 2D on a VGA device over a M3D ? M2D is useless in a performance view ?
Cheers

Unable to change wallpaper

Hi i was wondering if anyone can help as this problem has been really annoying me now. I am using a touch diamond v1 with the latest dutty rom, it has been working fine for ages but ive never been able to set a background wallpaper.
Whenever i set a wallpaper it will never display, if i want to see the wallpaper i will need to disabled the touchflo on the today screen. Even then the background is high in contrast and seems to be clouded in the background. The image i have tried locating it both on internal and phone storage with no effect.
how do i go about fixing this?
In the main menu of manila, you can slide from: Home, Contacts, messages, mail, weather, internet, camera, music, and settings. in this page (in settings) you will find "wallpaper". change the manila wallpaper there. (say not when it asks) . not from windows.
It will work.
i dont seem to have the manila menu?
Do you really have a diamond?
every diamond comes with it.
Manila = touchflo

Moved to second post...
the problem with customising it greatly is that its gonna be customised to the taste of the cook and this will really affect your potential audience. i think its best to stick with the neutral looking interface that comes with the devices and allow the user to customise themselves or atleast allow the user to be able to remove the customisations. personally, i prefer a ROM to look stock, but have under the hood customisations, like speed or say with opera for example, maybe increasing number of tabs, buffer size etc.
i install spb backup, nodata, make some registry edits (auto lock if wm6.5 is concerned and disabling gsensor in album as it slows it down), igo8, coreplayer, opera flash fix, google maps and then any games (bejewelled, spb quads, tower defense etc.)
