Connecting to BT car kit? - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Think I may have over complicated my last post regarding the same subject! Anyway basically what I am trying to find out is: Does my XDA 2i have to be 'on' in order to connect to my Motorola car kit, or should it do it 'standby'?

Getting more confused! I've just spoken to O2 and they say that the xda IIi will only connect to a bluetooth device if it (the xda) is switched on i.e. is not in standby. This confilcts with what I've been told elsewhere on this website? Any ideas....anyone?

My Nokia car kit tries to connect to the paired devices when you turn the ignition switch on. If the XDA 2i is On it connects, if the XDA 2i is in standby it does not.
If it connects with the XDA 2i then it stays connected if the XDA 2i subsequently goes into standby.
This is also true for my bluetooth headset and computer dongle.

Compared to my old Motorola mobile which connected auotmatically when the ignition was turned on, it seems like a step backwards. Why show the flashing blue led in standby mode if it won't connect?

Can the XDA use bluetooth?????

Anybody know if there is a way of connecting bluetooth on the XDA
(Has been answered quite a few times)
No, you cannot connect any accessories to the XDA, because it only has an SD card slot, and even this slot takes only SD memory cards and not the much more versatile SD-io cards.
The USB port, the only other hope, only does usb in 'slave mode'. This means it can be a device towards a computer, but it can't play the role of computer ('master') towards other 'slave' devices.
Bluetooth
Yes I use the Jabara Bluetooth wireless headset with excellent results. It does require plugging in an adapter which hangs off the phone from the mic jack, but it is well designed and works great. For me the extra equipment is not a problem since it sits on the car seat most often.

Where to by the Jabara Bluetooth headset ?
www.jabra.com
Hi guys! Thanks for your valued labours! I know these are boring questions to you, but.......
Are there any chinks of light in the 'Bluetooth tunnel'?
Is there any possibility that in the future the sd port could be modified to sd/io?
Could an sd/io slot from another PDA be modified to fit in place of the sd or are there other reasons why this won't work?
And finally, will the upgrades mentioned on xda-developers.com work over here (GB)? And will they really allow me to connect wifi to my laptop, thus allowing me to use my XDA as a modem?
Sorry I'm so technically challenged.
bluetooth on xda using jabra connection?
Can you actually active sync o2 xda and the desktop pc
using bluetooth jabra connection? I mean using the
new Jabra free speak for pocket pc phone on O2xda
and then active sync with your desktop pc with the bluetooth
adaptor on th desktop pc and then active sync.....does that work?
Has anyone try that? That might be the answer for bluetooth on
o2 xda?? 8) or just not possible?
For obvious reasons, the number one being that the jabra connects to the headset connector on the phone, it can not be used for anything but a headset.
internet surfing on Xda using desktop high speed connection
So there is no way to use bluetooth on O2 xda with the desktop.
But you can synchronise the xda and desktop and then surf
the internet on O2xda using desktop's high speed internet connection.
Also it is faster and cheaper then using GPRS on the xda. Only thing
is why would you want to do that when you can use desktop.
Furthermore you need a very long connecting cable to move about
the house unless you can find a way to hookup bluetooth....which I am still searching for a way to do it. Maybe the new version of o2 xda or similar products will have bluetooth incorporated...or is there one out there now? I would be glad to find out.

AA with two phones

Hi there!
Does anyone succeed in having two phones working with AA ? One stays connected permanently to AA, the second one is connected to BT for calls and texting.
My experience is that even if both are correctly connected when they are alone, once together all is a mess. As soon as the second phone gets connected to AA, the first one gets deconnected from BT.
I tried to break BT connection within the second phone. It gets connected anyway to AA, but this didn't solve the issue. The first one was ejected from BT,stating that another device was already BT connected (even if BT is broken).
Any help ? BT Mac address modification on the first phone to match second phone ?
Thanks in advance !
i been toying with the idea to do this.
sorry i just need to ask, even you disable auto connect Bluetooth in AA setting?

Haven't tried yet but surely a good idea ... On my way to test !
When you say that you've been toying, do you mean you get it to work or not ?
My purpose is to use a Nexus 7 2013 (not LTE version) as a permanent device connected to AA, and use my phone connected to BT, thus to avoid plugging/unplugging ...
No joy ... Using BT or not has no effect ... Phone is deconnected when tablet is connected to AA...

Deleting pairing has no impact. I even succeeded in breaking BT to avoid AA to wake it up but no joy either.
Whenever AA gets connected to the phone (via USB), any other BT connection is rejected stating that another device is already connected ...
Spoofing BT Mac address of soon to be BT-connected phone with the one of AA-connected phone might be a solution ? But not enough geek to try this one...
Seems strange nobody came across this idea ... please help if you did !
I worked it out, permanently disabling the Bluetooth using root. I described it in this thread.

Tried that already... Disabling BT doesn't prevent HU from detecting and kind-of BT pairing the device, ejecting in the same time the phone ... At least in my situation...
I reply to myself.
I found out a solution.
Strangely, disabling BT did not solve my problem. It seems that the headunit was retrieving information gathered at the first connection...
I then decided to hard reset the headunit. When asked to connect phone to BT, I complied.
In the meantime, I spoofed the BT MAC Address, copying phone's one to tablet. Now they both have the same BT MAC Address.
When tablet was plugged into usb for AA connection, the phone stayed BT connected. It worked and works since then.
Application to spoof BT MAC Address could be easily found on the G market.
i been toying wirh aa2. 9 or aa3. 0 because of non working issues
i accidently noticed my bt does not connect to my car but aa2. 9 still works.
i need to replicate this again.
if this work, 2 phone can still works

Try using "app quarantine". This it the only application that really stoped my BT for good.
So success with 2 phones?
Do you need to be rooted to spoof the BT MAC address?
Thanks

Thanks for this.
I kind of have it working but cannot control the phone connected by BT from the head unit (which still tries to make calls from the phone connected via AA).
Calls made directly from the phone do however go through the head unit.
Is there a way to control the BT phone via the head unit with the other phone connected via AA?
Android Auto on the navigation screen, iPhone connected via bluetooth for phone calls. VW Passat B8 2016
thank you to Pixege !
the method described it realy works (tested on Galaxy S7 and galaxy S5) in function on galaxy S5
it works ok if tha main phone it is conected in HFP mode
but because I have and rSAP mode and I'd like it want to use this type of conection but here are some problems..
the reason it is because I try to build from a galaxy s5 SM-901F (6.0.1, version MMB29M.G901FFXXU1CQE3 rooted with chainfire ) a standalone device im my car for use android auto in the car independent of my normal phone (galaxy S8)
so I want to use in the same time 2 android phones but both want to conect by bluetooth to the car (VW Discovery Pro)
to do that I disable via Esentiale root bluetooth proceses I found and works fine if the main S8 it is conect by HFP protocol
but if s8 is conected by rSAP (and I want to be conected by rSAP) when the second phone is conected by usb(with blutooth off) somehow disconect the sim from main S8 phone (but on the phone show like the rsim it is still working) but not conect to the second phone
if I first conect the android auto (S5) and after connect the phone (S8) rhe rSAP conection works fine
if I first conect the phone (S8) and after connect the android auto (S5) the rSAP conection not work on S8
anyway I want to disable the rsap on the galaxy s5 , how can I do this?
i solved in this way

Need Help with Bluetooth

I am trying to achieve the following effect and for my life can't figure out how to do it.
Hardware: Samsung Galaxy Watch, Samsung S10+ (unrooted) and My Car with android auto
So the Galaxy Watch should connect to bluetooth when my mobile is connected to wifi, disconnect the watch when the wifi is disconnected so that it is automatically connected to the car when I turn on the ignition. However, if the car is not connected with my mobile in 15 mins, the watch should connect again irrespective of the wifi state.
Basically, i want my phone to connect to my car bluetooth if i am in the car and to the watch if not. I was hoping to use the Wifi connection as a determinator that I am going out if not connected to it.

Super easy...
Create a Profile-> State ->net -> wifi
Give desired settings of your WiFi
Use task Bluetooth connect to watch
Add an exit task to the same profile to connect to car Bluetooth.
However better option is not to use WiFi rather use Bluetooth near state in Tasker .

Block Android auto, require bluetooth connection

Hi. I want to use two phones in my car. A phone without a sim card wired to android auto (screen mirror) and also use bluetooth to connect to an obd2 device.
The other phone (with sim card) I want to connect via bluetooth to the Mylink2 audio center, to use the hands-free function.
The problem I found is that when I connect the cell phone (without sim card) to android auto, it also forces me to link bluetooth to mylink2 and it does not allow to link the cell phone (with sim card) that I want to use as hands-free.
I can, tell my Mylink2 audio center, do not replace the bluetooh connection of the cell phone with simcard (the one that is only connected by bluetooh), but in that case, android auto does not start on the cell phone that is connected by cable.
If I block all bluetooth services as explained in the post https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...al/how-to-cancel-bluetooth-to-phones-t3962916 I can connect the cell phone by bluetooh (with simcard) but the cell phone (without simcard) does not work bluetooth and therefore I cannot connect to the OBD2.
Can you think of a solution? Could you block android auto, force me to connect the bluetooth of the cell phone connected by cable?
I hope your opinions !!!
Thank you
Alexander
Have a look at running Headunit Reloaded on the phone without the sim, it's specifically made for that purpose. Then, if the connections still don't behave the way you want, you can use Tasker to take care of it.
Hi. Maybe you don't understand what I wrote, because my English is not good.
My Headunit is not Android. But it is compatible with Androud auto.
My Headunit connects to AA via usb cable. When I connect the usb cable to my headunit, it runs AA and also forces to connect the bluetooh. So I can't connect the other cell phone with simcard to use hands-free for phone calls
Can you understand my problem? ... if not, I try to explain it differently.
Thank you
Alexander
I think the suggestion is to run the app on the phone (no SIM), not on the head unit.

Hi. Maybe I did not understand well how that application works (Headunit Reloaded), but according to what I read, it is to be able to run android auto in units that do not have support for android auto.
It is wrong I did not understand to be able to use this application I must have a head unit that runs android.
I'm wrong?
Thank you

Why can't i connect 2 phones bluetooth and aa

For me it is strange. I have 2 android phones, a oneplus one rooted and a samsung s8 non rooted. I try to connect the oneplus with a cable for android auto but the S8 disconnects from bluetooth, so the 2 phones can not be connected at the same time. The weirdest thing is that my wife as the iphone 11 pro max and when she is in the car i can connect the S8 with android auto and the iphone still works with bluetooth. Why can't i do this with 2 android phones?
So, if i can connect the S8 with aa and the iphone via bluetooth, why can't i connect another android phone
rather than the iphone.?
If in my car, i have 2 "slots" for bluetooth connection:
1 combination : S8 connected with aa and using 1 "slot" BT and iphone connected using the other BT "slot", works fine
2 combination: S8 connected with aa and using 1 "slot" BT and oneplus one connected using the other BT "slot", never works
3 combination: oneplus one connected with aa and using 1 "slot" BT and S8 connected using the other BT "slot", never works
Why?
I think this is an implementation issue of the head unit. In the Subaru, I've had my phone connected to AA for navigation and my wife has used hers on bluetooth for calls. Try turning bluetooth off on the phone that is connected to AA - I don't remember, but I may have had to do that.

Hi. I have the same problem. But, if I freeze all the bluetooth services of the phone that is connected by cable (bluetooth does not work), I can connect the other phone by bluetooth to make calls and android auto works correctly.
This solution is not the best for me, since I want to connect the obd2 to the bluetooth of the phone that is permanently connected to AA.
I read online that there are people who could solve it by cloning the same bluetooh mac on both phones. But I can't find how this procedure is done.

I believe that android auto won't work unless your phone Bluetooth tooth and cable connected to head unit.
Either one is missing, it won't work.

Hi. I believed the same as you. But, in my case, if I disable all bluetooth services, android auto still works, with the cell phone connected by cable. (cell phone bluetooth is disabled)
I would like to find a way to use it to connect the obd2, to the cell phone that is permanently connected.
Any idea how to solve this?
Today i had the S8 connected to the infotainment system by bluetooth and then i connected the oneplus with the cable (because i had to restart the oneplus), it started the Android auto connection and for moments the 2 phones where working at the same time (i continued to listen to music from S8 and had the android auto interface on). I was viewing google maps on aa and when i switched app, the connection with S8 broke. I still don't understand, i thought that the 2 channels i had in my car for bluetooth where not connected between one another, but it seems that with 2 android phones the connection is broken. I insist, with the iphone and any other android phone works just fine.

It does not have to be that way, at least for me. And if this works like that is a bad implementation of android auto. My car has 2 slots for bluethoot connection, i think they would have to work independently from each other, but in this case you have 2 android phones, it seems that the connection is linked in the 2 slots and it will not work, but if you have an iphone and an android phone the 2 slots work independently and they work just fine. So...Why? I still can't get it, it shouldn't be like this.
Hi mates, the same here!
I´ve an android radio with bluetooth 5.1 and can´t find a way to connect 2 Android phones at the same time. Tha´s ´cos 1 is for calls and 2 is only for music (rooted with Viper4android). Do I need another bluetooth adapter in order to make the 2nd phone working? Or what??

First off all, my car has 2 slots for bluetooth devices, normally i use an iphone (wife) and a samsung s8. In the past weeks i was trying to connect the s8 and an oneplus one. I struggled at first but now i only need to have the oneplus turned off and connect the s8 to the bluetooth of the head unit, then i turn on the oneplus witch is very fast since this device has few apps installed and connect with the cable via android auto. I even share the internet connection between phones and can play youtube videos in the head unit. The car is a Skoda Kodiaq 2017 (VW group).
