Xda 2s For sale - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Sorry--I know it is in the wrong forum
Anyone interested in buying a XDA 2S only 2 months old cost over 600 euro new. Delivery will be by courier and payment through paypal. Any reasonable offer will be considered. Have placed it on Ebay twice but been ripped off by nigerian scammers twice.
So again any reasonable offers considered

Not sure why a person with a 2i would want a 2s, as far as I am aware the 2i is considered to be better than the larger, heavier 2s?
I also notice that this message has been spammed across all forums...

I'm a Nigerian and I know we have our own large number of scammers. But for my education, kindly explain how you were scammed. You may pm me. Thanks

Ebay - be cautious

I have seen a few references to ebay on this and other media.
The basic idea behind ebay is great and it started off brilliantly with people selling used or unwanted stuff to other people looking for exactly that stuff.
In the meantime most of the stuff you find on ebay is cheap crap made in China (not everything made in China in bad!, but most crap is made in China) I think.
Like cigarettes, all advertising for ebay should contain a warning: Buying here might be harm your purse.
Sorry if I sound a bit cynical but fact is that ebay is trmendeously successful and people get carried away. I use ebay myself occasionally but I would never ever (again) by a phone or accessory on ebay.
This is all my humble opinion. I do try support serious online shops that sell good products and good service at a competitive price. My advice here: Always see to it that the online shop you buy from provides full contact details on their website: postal address and a valid phone and fax number. There are too many shops out there with no physical address at all which to me is quite dubious.
Cheers
I've been purchasing a quite a few things off eBay, mostly UK sellers, and all of the product I've got are brilliant. If you were to think China products are mostly crap, you can well steer away from it (i.e. most of the China sellers have a word 'China' on the item location).
Anyway, I have bought a powered USB hub from China (via eBay) for GBP5 (include P&P). For the same product, if you were to get it from here in UK, it will cost you at least GBP15+. And yes, my USB hub is still here and I'm using it.
And, yeah, I've got myself a 512 Kingston SD from China, for GBP5 cheaper than of UK sellers.
Anyway, with most people saying that China will be an "economy threat" to others, I'm sure there are some reason to that (i.e. you can't be a threat by manufacturing craps). You might want to reconsider your point of view.
Anyway, I've got my Charmer off eBay for GBP150, that is more than 50% off as compared I were to get it (without contract) off local/web stores.
I have saved tons of money from getting stuff from Ebay, which includes my K-Jam.
I've bought a lot of stuff from ebay.
However, selling stuff on ebay, obviously be extremely careful about your purchaser and receive positive indication of payment before posting.
Buying: well, you take your chances of course. I've had bargains on some small electricals (eg USB hubs etc), but if you're paying that kind of money, be prepared for crap quality, and then hope you'll be pleasantly suprised.
I've had my fair share of scammers and non paying auction winners. I think your level of caution should grow the more expensive the item, of course. A lot of guys will try to scam you out of a phone, or into a stolen one (or one without a touch screen :wink
V
I've managed to find original XDA accessories (Keyboard for £16 and Extended Battery for £11!!!!!!!) selling stupidly cheap (would cost 5x more in the shops) and both work great!
Regards,
Neil.
I think there's some golden rules with eBay...
Take everything you see on there with at least a pinch of salt.
Remember, some fraudsters will get others to post fake good feedback, I've seen this in the past and although it's hard, it's possible.
Also make sure you can pay via a scheme which offers Buyer protection - the standard eBay buyer protection is VERY inadequate, and it's really hard to get your money back (and they charge a fee for the service too). If you have a credit card, usually if you have a problem you can speak to your credit card company directly and they will protect you from fraud by charging back the transaction (as far as I know, all UK credit card companies offer free fraud protection these days, so if you are defrauded out of your money they'll give it straight back and get in touch with the transaction processing company themselves to resolve the situation).
Avoid paying by cheque/cash/postal order wherever possible, you're just asking to be taken for a ride like that. Also, third party escrow companies not run or approved by eBay you should steer VERY clear of, I have seen people defrauded by fake escrow agencies. Anybody who pays with cash is just asking to be mugged.
Read the item description VERY carefully - I'm amazed how many people complain that they've received something they didn't want, or people who put negative feedback on items after they bought something which was actually broken (and said so in the description)... They have only themselves to blame. Scour the eBay description every time, and don't be afraid to ask the seller further questions or request pictures / more information if you feel you need it to be confident enough to make the bid.
Everyone with an ounce of common sense will already realise this, I hope.
Thanks for the tips guys.
Always remember " if it sounds too good to be true, it will be !!! "
Just sold my magician on eBay at the second attempt. I've bought quite a lot on eBay, even from Hong Kong and everything's been fine and dandy.
As a seller I'm a bit of a newbie and some nigerian tried to scam me out of my magician. He registered that very day claiming to be an american on business in Nigeria. He even went so far as sending me a fake PayPal confirmation.
I smelled a rat straight away when he said he wanted it posted to nigeria but gave him a chance given that there was a 0.0000001% chance he might have been genuine. When the fake PayPal came through though that was it. I reported him to eBay, PayPal, the owner of the domain he was using to (try to) scam me and then re-listed. He was thrown off eBay in short thrift and I soon had another (genuine this time) buyer.
If selling, you can specify that bidders MUST have a PayPal account and with "But It Now" you can specify immediate PayPay payment. Make sure you do and you really should be OK.
I have my money and the magician is in the post.
Everybody is happy.
P.S. Why do 99% of the world's internet scammers come from Nigeria?
There's a culture, particularly in Nigeria, that scamming people from richer countries is almost entirely acceptable, as the scammers prey on the gullibility and greed of the rich people who usually fall for the scams (the promise of millions with a much smaller payment, what stupid rich person could turn that down?) - some people make a living exclusively from scamming Europeans and Americans (they call their targets 'mugus', singular mugu)... The most prevalent scam is the Advance Fee Fraud - the 419 scam (so called due to the number of the Nigerian law which makes it technically illegal... The thing is, these laws are rarely enforced, and corruption itself is widespread throughout the police force and government).
Of course, this is just how I interpret it, but you'll find others who share a similar point of view. Just googling for Nigerian scam 419 culture brings up some interesting results, including http://slashdot.org/articles/05/10/21/138243.shtml and http://www.pambazuka.org/en/category/blog/31063 ... Read those and browse for some more, very interesting, discussions on the subject.
Read this article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3887493.stm on the BBC web site. It's very funny.
It's about a hobby called Scam Baiting - which is basically stringing the 419 scammers along, getting them to do rediculous things and sometimes conning THEM out of money in the process.
If you want to get in on scam baiting go to http://www.419eater.com
Edit: Funny you should mention police corruption - this is the address he wanted me to send it to:
Name : Eke James
Address : block (d) highway patrol barracks flat 17
City : Ikeja
State : Lagos
Country : Nigeria
Zipcode : 23401
TheBrit: that's some funny sh*t!! "Church of the Painted Breast" LMAO
Sometimes I'm not even sure if the scammers know what they're talking about: one time I received a request to end the auction early with an instant payment of something like £300 for this xda iis with a broken screen, and that I must send it to this guy's cousin a.s.a.p. cos it was his birthday!
Oh guys if you haven't seen it already, check out http://www.amirtofangsazan.blogspot.com/ - don't sell a faulty laptop and leave your data on the hard disk! This has been making news around the world, over 2 million hits now and a Wikipedia article hahaha!
Neil.
OMFG - the fun never stops!!! I'm laughing so hard that I can't even go to bed...
It's a shame that the guy's been kicked off ebay now: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI..../search.dll?from=R40&satitle=6825578528&fvi=1
Hardly, he's exactly the kind of person that I don't want to see on ebay. I love all the newspaper coverage this story's been getting
What I mean is that guy is probably using ebay under a different name now, so it's hard for us to track him down, unless he forgets to wipe his hard disk again!
I have bought heaps of great things on eBay and I find it great but you should always be careful of things that seems to good to be true.

Ebay experiences, need some answers

Hello everyone, I have some stuff to sell, as well as a couple of others I would like to purchase. Is purchasing and selling through ebay safe? I really don't want to sign up for Paypal, so do you think it would be possible to conduct business without a need for Paypal? Thanks
You need PayPal for eBay that's just how it works... As far as safe goes I've never had a bad eBay experience and I have bought upwards of 50 items.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
follow the "tips for sellers" and tips for "buyer and seller protection" and u should be cool with paypal
ud be much safer if u do paypal only , as most scammars use other methods .
also , if a guy with -1, 0 , 1 or 2 bids an unreasonable amount on your stuff , it should raise a huge red flag in your head(too good to be true)
eBay is perfectly safe and i've bought and sold lots of things. Paypal is safer than other payment options. If you do have any problems you contact paypal or ebay and they will deal with it.
If it wasn't safe million of people wouldn't be using it.
Having recently bought and sold a few things on ebay, I would definitely recommend it!
So long as you put some effort in to your sales (good quality pictures, and good descriptions) then you are bound to sell.
Just be wary of VERY new users, and those with no activity in the last year or so.
I was selling my Galaxy S on ebay, and had to list it THREE times because scammers had won the auction. and then tried sending me fake paypal emails and getting me to send the item whilst 'payment was processed with Western Union'
I would suggest that you ONLY accept payment via paypal, and that you take control of your auction.
I cancelled the bids of people I didn't trust, ended the auction early and sold to the current high bidder. £20 less, but it was clear from their ratings that they could be trusted.
I've been buying stuff at ebay. I got this phone there too.
Paypal is required if you want to be entitled to the Buyer's Protection Program.
Haven't tried selling though.

Im currently hooked on ebay......
Sold my old N95 and a W850i....... Reinvesting the money in "broken" phones...
Just look at the user feedbacks, a lot of people ask that users with a low number of feedbacks dont bid on their items. You could try that but beware you may be excluding genuinely honest people who just dont use ebay very much.
Paypal allows you to claim back you money if you dont receive an item as well so its not really a bad thing. You dont have to give them your bank details either if you dont want to.
If your selling high value items then take a not of serial numbers etc..
In case some twat tries to get a refund on his broken down crap and keep the working one you sent him.

Anyone bought G-note from ebay?

I have yet to see someone claim to have bought e-note from ebay? I see prices as low as $670 dollars (US) including shipping yet no one has reported to have bought one from them. what is the risk involved that people are still paying $740 from other places and no one seems to be taking advantage of new g-notes from ebay at cheaper prices?
I think its fear + ignorance which stops more people getting them from ebay. These things are made pretty close to Hong Kong, so its not suprising how cheap they are buying them from there through ebay. ebay used to be fairly shady too, and I think a lot of people still hold the fear of splashing $700 into a site which they may feel unsure about. However, as many of us know these days, ebay + paypal combined is an insanely safe shopping source. Not only is your sale fully ensured, but the amount of turnover most of these stores do, and the ability to access other shopper's comments does make it a really valuable source.
I'll be getting my note from ebay sometime next week (when the pay comes through), but have previously bought my SGS 1, and asus transformer from there, with NO problems, extremely quick shipping, and hundreds of dollars saved. I always recomend it
thanks for the vote of confidence. I am also thinking about getting my g-note next week through ebay.
Just read through the sellers past feedback. You should quickly see if the seller is reliable. Also read carefully through the description to see if it is new/used/damaged or if the title is wrong and they they are selling a 600$ notebook with a photo of a galaxy on it rather than a phone.
I got mine from eBay.
I bought mine from Ebay I paid 720 for it including shipping that was free. That's 2 Weeks ago prices were much higher.
It was a reputable seller and didn't have any issue the phone is running great
I went through 3 SGN's so far.. One from Amazon.de, One from Ebay.de and one from my Country which was the most expensive one but was worth the local warranty reassurance since I'm keeping this one. Received it today.
The second one from Ebay was a German model, no problems, sold it like I did with the first one from Amazon after I played around abit with it.
Anyway ALWAYS read the FEEDBACK! Even if it's a TOP Rated it means NOTHING! It might be a hacked account or a bad TopRated. Better safe than sorry.
Example: Someone is selling some SGN's in a very attractive price. Check the feedback if another person bought and received a Note from the Seller already. If the listing just came up then check it's feedback for some expensive stuff and not 2-3euros worth of items.
If the Seller has low feedback(<30-50) but it's 100% positive and every buyer is happy with him, then sent him a message first and see. He might be just a regular guy selling a Note.
Yes Ebay and Paypal did help me a couple times and they were very helpful, but Scammers will always be around.
Got mine on ebay for $760 about 3 weeks ago when they first came out. It arrived in a few days without any problem. It turn out to be a Polish model with a with a Polish provider branding.
Just rooted & loaded a custom ROM & now all OK.
I love this phone. Absolutely awesome screen.
Got mine from a Hong Kong ebayer with no problem.

Issues with fastcardtech

Hi to all,
I want to share with you what appened last month with fastcardtech site... I already bought a zopo zp100 and I was really satisfy about service so I decide to bought a new one but white.
Reading internet site I saw that two models are available but I was interested only in the completely white one so I ask availability at support center of fastcardtech that confirm by mail the availability.
After two day I release the payment and in a week the phone was shipped.
Where is the problem? The phone received was the other one.
After 1 month they could give me a 3% discount (6USD due to account limitation) on next order that I'll never do cause It's not sure what they will ship.
I didn't report all the mail between us where they wanted to refund (6USD) and after 2 weeks no paiment was released so I asked and they wrote back to call support center...
I'm writing this post cause the site is really cheapest but pay attention cause if there is a problem you'll not have support... In some case you feel victim of a joke...
Bye.
P.S. attacched the chat transcript for all the detail
Sorry for what happened
i faced the same problem they listed a phone with high specification at a high price yet it was just specifications hacked in kernel the phone was not of quality as it was priced i bought it at USD 295 yet other phones of exact spec without hacking kernels were at USD 165 so if you are buying online its better you buy from sites with payments protections like escrow of aliexpress as the product i bought there was real coz it had to wait for my confirmation the payments to be made which force the sellers to be sure of what they are doing.
In fact the item was shipped with very low prices i never requested for which led me to be over taxed as the tax authority had to do it by themselves.

I don't know what to tell everyone, but I ordered from them and didn't have any problem other than I paid $2.99 for them to root the phone which was never done nor refunded.
I used EMS shipping and had my phone within a week; the tracking was a bit wack, but I figured it out and it even worked.
Everything works great on the phone and came as promised. I can't comment on customer service other than they never responded about a refund for the $2.99.
Would I order from them again? Maybe, but you might have to cross your fingers and hope you're lucky but my experience was acceptable.

Here's one I busted on aPad.tv.com forum; regarding Hyundai T7 Exynos 4 quad-core processor Tablet PC:
me: I ordered 1 a week ago. It was supposed to have been in stock, but when I checked on the status it was still unshipped. I was beginning to wonder if the T7 even existed; so what aPadTVadmin said about them being in stock, makes since now. I guess most of these online stores get all their stuff drop-shipped, am I assuming correct?
aPadTVadmin: I spoke to DP a couple of days ago regarding the T7 for another reason and all T7 units have been shipped out. This was Thursday. If you ordered 1 week ago it would have shipped out nearly same day. I witnessed with my own eyes a large stock of T7 Hyundais being processed for shipping out last time I visited there.
Please give me your order number so I can validate it and check with them for you.
me: BUNCH OF SCAM ARTISTS! I contacted the manufacturer today and found out that they don't even start shipping them until March 7th, 2013. SO THERE'S NO WAY THAT ANYONE EVEN HAS T7'S YET, EXCEPT FOR A FEW ENGINEERING SAMPLES THAT WENT OUT. SO MUCH FOR SEEING THEM WITH YOUR OWN EYES... MORE LIKE LYING OUT OF YOUR OWN MOUTH.

this guy who wrote this is also part of the scam; he want's you think that the company actually ships a good product, while the truth is, what you'll get is an imitation of the product you order, if at all that; these guys are all in cahoots, and they're on every forum & youtube video out there. They are good at what they do & once they ship the inferior product, if you return it, you lost all your money, point blank.
aliexpress.com is the best site to buy tablets/phones from china. they have buyer protection, and the money isn't released from your account till you confirm the device is received and working.
Scam
I ran into the FCT trap too. Should have done some more research beforehand .
I ordered an HDC Note 3 clone from them and paid through Paypal. They provided a Singapore shipping number and the next day told me the phone is out of stock and was not shipped. Meaning a fake shipping number was provided. The same time the same phone is still listed on their website as "in stock" and questions of potential customers are answered.
They told me to choose an alternative phone which I did with another HDC N9002. 35$ more expensive which difference I paid. They did not ship, after a number of reminders they however provided again the same (!) fake shipping number as before. So the item was never ever intended to be shipped. They play for time and money to get over the 45 days to launch a Paypal dispute. So be careful.
Currently a dispute for full refund is ongoing.
Stay away from these scammers!
SCAM artists
I'm also getting countless fake shipping numbers regarding broken tablet that I actually received from them.
Beware of FCT!
They are always delaying with shipping (some items they never ship). Their policy is to provide a bit lower prices than the others at first sight and then add extra fees for nothing and eventually ship the item you ordered when it is already outdated.
Fake shipping numbers are their method of delay.
FCT
I recently ordered from FCT and of course before reading all the forums of countless individuals who have been scammed or dooped by these guys.
Anyway after 2 weeks from placing my order I received a tracking number followed by another tracking number 2 days later (weird), then a week later it was scanned into the U.S, 2 or so more days it actually arrived at my door!!! (bing bong)
I was pretty stoked however, once I opened my package (HDC GT N9000 Note3) one thing was missing ...No stylus!! so after numerous calls to these guys via Skype (preferred and only method to contact them) I finally speak to a man who tells me that if I buy another phone they would include the stylus plus a gift free of charge....wait the phone was advertised to include this?? blah blah something shipping he began to ramble on about.... all n all pointless
I'm now a month into having my phone which appears to be pretty effin exact to the Note3 however yesterday my phone just disconnected from my network and will not re-connect. I cannot reach a soul at this place leaving me with a fancy mini internet tab/paperweight/possibly shooting target..
Basically they were great until I gave them my money and the phone is awesome however customer service is a huge key to running any successful business and this is something they LACK.....
GOOD LUCK!

BUDDY BUYING THREAD for the Nexus 5

As the new Nexus 5 is only available in some country`s through the Playstore it would be nice if users we`re willing to order a Nexus 5 for those that have no access to the Playstore and are forced to pay a lot more in local stores. All personal conversations are off course private and are to be dealt with through PM or Email.
Please sign up here if you want to particpate and post your location (Country and City) so users can contact you. It would realy only be fair that the participants deserve a (small) compensation for their efforts..
It would be even better if XDA started a thread/service like this
Post your country/city in this thread or PM me so i can post it in the OP which would be better and easier

Sounds great.
But for those who are uncomfortable with all this stuff, comgateway can help you buy the devices or you could ship the device there and they will reship it to your location using DHL.

Italian price will be the same of others Europena countries (Spain, France, Germany, despite of the iDevices prices)
What type of compensation are people willing to provide outside of the shipping costs?
This sounds like a terrible idea to be honest.
Not to bring my cloud of negativity but you know somebody is going to do the wrong thing and ruin this for everybody else.
Charge back scams, people pocketing the money and not sending the devices. etc etc.

What a party pooper! Geez!!!!
Now, everyone send me your cash, Paypal login, or credit card information and I'd be very happy to buy you several Nexus 5's. Just out of the goodness of my heart.I will not even expect any small compensation for my efforts. It's the least I can do for my XDA friends.

If there is a person works in a good faith could do me a favor to send one to Hong Kong.....
If the device is compatible (4G LTG banding) to HK...
Noted the price you might pay to have it imported might be not much more then what it would cost locally. If you get the 32gig version at $400 the final checkout price will probably be about $460 after tax and shipping. Then add the cost of shipping overseas and you're nearing $500 if the person who does this doesn't charge you a fee. If your local retailer sells the 32gig version for 500 euros then is the extra savings really worth the potential of being scammed?

Noted the price you might pay to have it imported might be not much more then what it would cost locally. If you get the 32gig version at $400 the final checkout price will probably be about $460 after tax and shipping.
