Cheers

Hi. Clustered.
Actually I have no extended rom on my Alpine. The device seams to be working fine. My question is: Is it realy necessary to have installed an extended rom? For what exactely? Are extended roms only for custmize the Alpine with operators stuf? Thank you for waste your time with a noobie.

Can anyone tell me how to use this rom
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Tmobile/RUU_Prodigy_2170702_217_20710_TMO_US.exe
and put it on a xdaIIs?
Do I need to use a noid.exe and if so wihci one should I use?
You can't do it like that - it would be lovely if you could but a rom for the Wizard would need to be ported for it to work on the BlueAngel. To try it would give you a very nice doorstopper.
Ahh thanks for the warning!! So can this be ported from the wizard to the xdaIIs?
I would love to use the WM5 but as far as I have learned WM5 does not support Blackberry Enterprise aka Instant mail, and I have not found any CAB files that will work on my XDAIIs with WM5 installed. I am getting pretty good at upgrading and downgrading tho :-(
All of the TuMa editions are using a Wizard Port (allbeit an old version). They are really quite stable now and I think we're getting close to a rom to stick with
As far as Blackberry support, I haven't seen a BA WM5 rom with it however I imagine it could be ported but then again, I am no porter!
Kind regards
Lee
I found a German BB connect cab that will install on the BA WM5 that ivan made but right at the very end of the install it says cannot load instal module. You click ok and the program tells you it installed. When you go to find the BB settings eve in the BA it is under \windows and when you try to execute it the unit hangs up.
I assume that this cab is looking for the T-Mobile info to complete the install so we would have to have one of the very bright individuals in this forum find out what it is looking for exactly and fix that part of it. The BA WM5 would work with BB connect
Hi guys. i hav successfully flash my dopod 838 with tmobile 2.26 rom. but i realised i dont need the tmobile extended rom. i try restoring my backup onto it after i reset when its customising. i cant get the autosettings of my service provider to work with it. so i reckon i need my old 2.21 dopod extended rom. is there a way to pull it out and combined it with the tmobile 2.26 rom? i try checking into the TEMP directory when its running but all i know is the rom and extended rom is combined.
actually i got another question. i found wizard extended rom making kit in the ftp. and i was wondering can i just flash the extended rom itself?
EEmmmm i think i know how to upload the extended rom into wizard. but the question is how do i use the extended rom making kit?? i got the files.. but i got no idea how to use it.. no instruction how to this.. anyone help me how to do this and everythin is fine.. thanks guys!! ^^
If you're referring to faria's excellent contribution, check out the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=313128#313128
Hope I was of some help ...
hey dats it!! thanks guys!! instead of cooking ur own rom i just cook my own ext rom. much easier this way then cooking up the whole thing. my dopod 838 now flashed with combination of Tmobile 2.26 rom plus dopod's customised 2.21 ext rom. its starting up now. hope it works. however my radio rom is listed as 2.25 tmobile. is that good? i look around this forum and got mixed review about which radio rom is better? some says 2.25 cingular some says 2.24 tmobile. so confusing. i am in australia. so would that have any effect? any one suggest me a good radio rom for my combo pls.. thanks!!
I am currently using the 2.25.11.1 WWE Cingular ROM from HTC (with Cing service) on my unlocked MDA. I have tried other ROMs (including the 2.3 ROM) but the 2.25 seems to be the best at re-aquiring a signal after loosing it for a long time (I work in a building without signal). I would like to try the 2.26 ROM from T-mobile, but I hate the color scheme and other customizations. Is their an easy way to get the Cing customizations and the T-mo ROM? I have read others ask for one of the whiz kids in this forum to cook a ROM with this recipe.
I know how to not install the customizations (reboot during the 3 sec countdown), but I am not sure how to get the Cing customizations loaded. If nobody wants to cook a ROM, can someone provide me instructions on loading a Cing extended ROM? Thanks in advance.
I'm using the new TM 2.26 and I had / have your same requests. I love the sumitter Cingular 2.25 and also the special ROM that faria made for me but I'm happier with this one.
I installed the ROM and bypassed the Extended Rom installation as you mentioned. I haven't created a custom ROM as of yet, one day! One thing that has helped me is doing full installations of all the published ROM's here starting with 1.05. I then extracted the contents of the Extended Roms with Total Commander. ( I keep all these cabs on my Storage Card)
With this particular ROM I'm happy with the following (and bear in mind I'm a simple man with simple needs ..)
Cingular Connection Wizard cab is included below.
I also use both of molski's registry cabs at Molski.nL Customizing Tweaks and also at Molski.nL Performance Registry Tweaks
I'm also kinda partial to Dr.Shultz's contribution to the Eten dialskins at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48325&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=150
Add Microsoft Voice Command with a few other goodies and you've got a bad ass phone IMO ...
Actually I forgot Smartskey at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060
And also wclose is very nice to put in your windows directory and then copy a shortcut to your windows\startup directory.
In addition you might want to add faria's alternative extended_rom+splash screens for summiter ROMhere/ to change that T-Mobile splash screen...
New as of 8-18-2006
Took the time and found the Cingular Connection Wizard cab from the latest Cingular ROM. (I just LOVE installing ROM's to copy off the extended_rom directory ... ) I like it better as it doesn't have the proxy settings, etc..
Wow I put so much time into that reply and no one had anything to say ...
I'll try harder next time!
Thanks
Steve,
That was real informative. Like you I love sumitter’s ROMs but have not seen him post in a month or so. I am going to try this this weekend when I return home from the road.
Thanks for you imput. 8)

Radio: 2.25.11
ExtROM:

Latest Cingular Connection Rom cab
I updated my original post here to include the latest connection cab.
Hope it helps someone!
Which ROM(s) can boot as quick as 2.25 and is the most stable? I am using 2.25 and don't like it because of the dropped calls issue. I've used 2.17 but the reboot times are attrocius.
TIA
You can try my Rom from www.molski.biz
It's a T-Mobile 2.26.10.2 Rom, but then Cleaned from all the T-Mobile stuff.
You can find the description/details of what is in the Extended Rom of my Rom on the page where my Roms are.

Molski
I've been using Gamescan's Mr. Clean AKU 2.3 for a couple months now on an 8125 using TMO. It's very stabe, has excellent reception, and is very fast.
At first one finds a shorter battery life. However, after a week or so, the battery life seems to get back to normal.
I have had the least issues with this ROM. I never have to soft reset.
molski how to enter your site?
I know it's a dummy question, but I can see only homepage - no option to proceed (IE & Firefox checked)
In the left frame (under the logo) you should see a Java Pulldown Menu. There you can navigate on my website.
If it doesn't work here are 2 links directly to the Rom Files
2.26.10.2 Dutch Rom
2.26.10.2 WWE Rom
Regards,
Molski
p.s. All my websites work in IE and FF on my laptop
Maybe it's a MS Java issue, it doesn't like original Sun's release (I've got both on my PC)
Thank you very much for the links :!:
My website should work with the Sun Java Packages. I also use Sun Java instead of MS Java.
But for now you got 2 direct links to the files you want
Molski
I have installed Molski's ROM into my Vodafone VPA Comtact II and I think it is the best one that I have ever seen until now.
Thanks guy!
Qtek or one of the other brand's?
Hi
Did you changed the T-mobile to Qtek branding on this Rom?
All the programs on the Qtek original Rom are available on this one?
Do you notice any Speed increase running programs like Igo or Tom tom, in my standard Qtek Rom 2.17 the GPS programs seem a bit slow.
Tkx

That's a great question. I feel stupid. What usually goes into a Cingular Extended ROM?

Molski, installed your ROM and everthing is working great. Thanks. Just wondering, I tried to run a few apps and I get an error that I do not have the latest version of .NET Compact Framework installed. Where do I get and how do I install the latest version? Thanks!

You can get the latest version [version 2 I think] of .NET Compact Framework at freecabs.de it will be in a .cab format, so just download it via wi-fi on your PPC or to your PC, then Active sync and copy file to your device or storage card. Execute the file from the device.
Hi !! I have just purchased the wizard(and sold the JasJar). I have tried unlocking the extended ROM but IMO, it only works for pre-AKU2 ROMs.. I m using 2.16.9.1 ROM.
my queries are..
(1) how do i unlock ext rom ?
(2) which the best AKU 3.2(or AKU 3.3) rom ?
ROM info..
IPL/SPL:2.16.0001
OS:2.16.9.1
The extended rom cannot be unlocked !
I think this might help you.

I followed that thread, but, it yielded no success
OK, now I'm confused. Your title says you want to unlock your extended rom but your post says you want to unlock your phone and you mention having a AKU 2.3 device.....
These are two totally different items.
To unlock your extended rom for keeping files there that url I gave you should work (though I'm quite happy to keep those type of files on my storage card, but that's me)
To unlock your AKU 2.3 phone you could .... click the link in my signature OR ... read the sticky titled "A Definitive Guide to Unlocking G3 Wizards" (they're the same thread)
Good luck to you whatever you're trying to do!
in my case this unlocker works only for read, and if u write something to it and restart ur phone, they all gone, faria was discussing it in some of the threads abt this issue, and if i understand him right there's two probs here:
1. file size limitation
2. changes not applyed after restart
