Xda IIs - Radio gone? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi All,
I've recently done an upgrade on my Xda IIs.
Everything appeared to be okay, I initially had an Activesync issue which I resolved, but initially I've been happy with it.
I happily installed my Tomtom software and got the Bluetooth working and used it on a journey last night.
I switched the unit off overnight as the battery was really realy low. I charged it up earlier and although the OS is fine there's no phone working.
It says:-
Unknown SIM status
Only emergency calls can be made without a PIN.
Under Device Information I have:-
ROM version: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Radio version: NONE
Protocol version: NONE
ExtROM version:
I assume the radio version being missing so 2 questions.
1) Why would is disappear
2) What the best way of replacing it and what version should I use?
Thanks in advance.
P.s The phone was working after the upgrade.

.... continued
Okay I've upgraded the radio rom and the phone is now working.
I'm now showing.
ROM version: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Radio version: 1.13.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtROM version:
but as a test I removed the battery and replaced it.... sure enough the radio rom has been lost again and I'm back to.
ROM version: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Radio version: NONE
Protocol version: NONE
ExtROM version:
BUT..... If I press the soft reset button the radio comes back.... So for example.... I replace the battery, switch on and then press soft reset to have everything working.
This is not really a biggie for me but is it a known issue?
I'm currently looking through the HUGE BlueAngel WM2005 problems resolution so maybe it's in there somewhere.....

Errr.... Not quite sure what you mean by this. Can you explain please?

It IS a known problem. Which ROM are you using? It happened regularly with me on the original WM5 ROM, but I haven't tried the ported ones.

New and confused with my Blue Angel

You'll all have to excuse me if I appear a little confused.... I've only had my Blue Angel a few days and already it is driving me up th wall. I be going through the message boards day after day and now I'm unsure which way to turn with it. Configuration of my unit is as follows:
Orange SPV M2000 - Unlocked, I use both Orange and O2 sims in it.
Operator version: 5.31.1.124
ROM version: 1.31.00 WWE
ROM date: 12/13/04
Radio version: 1.06.02
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtRom version 1.31.124 WWE
Bluetooth version: 1.0.0 Build 3500
Windows Mobile 2003 SE: 4.21.1088
So far its faults seem to be
1. Not compatible with my Bluetooth car kit (nokia CK 7W).
2. Occasionally people are telling me that I sound really distant when making calls (when using it as a phone, e.g with to my ear - I don't do wired ear pieces)
Could anyone please recommend the upgrades I should be looking to use? By upgrading roms etc will a loose its unlocked ablity?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
You can use the latest rom upgrades that are available i.e 1.40 Rom version. After upgarding the rom ur device will not be locked once unlocked it remains unlocked. all the blueetooth and other issues would be resolved after the rom upgrade.
The complete details of the latest rom are as follows:
ROM Version: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM Date: 03/10/05
Radio version: 1.13.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: 1.40.147
for the rom link u can have a look in the forum there are a couple of updates availble from different opereators.
cheers
jeet
Thanks for that, I've upgraded it using the imate PD2k 1.40 rom set. The unit seems to be functioning better already and it has got rid of some of the rubbish Orange had installed on it.
Now at:
ROM version: 1.40 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radion Version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtROM version: 1.40.176 WWE
Bluetooth version 1.0.0 Build 3900
Windows Mobile 2003SE Version 4.21.1088 (build 15045.2.6.0)
Guess I'll just have to see how this performs........
Had fun trying to upgrade it, country ID error thing kept coming up but got there in the end using the advice from this site. I guess that must be something to do with my phone being unlocked? The only info the device data utility gave me was:
PH20B 0 B WWE E
Any way thanks agin for your help

Need to update?

Hi.
These is my current pda2k, and I'm wondering if I *really* need to update anything, and if I do, what with? I've tried looking though the site, but the instructions seem really puzzling to me!
I have ROM version: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio version 1.12.00
Protocol verison 1337.42
ExtROM 1.40.176 WWE
Also, is it worth/possible to put in windows mobile 5.0 - I have 2003SE
Thank you! Matthew
Chances are VERY good that what you have now is a lot faster and more stable than any WM5 you could flash on your phone. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I'm fortunate that I got 2003se back on my phone without any problem.

Xda IIi sound/radio problem

I've recently got an Xda IIi to replace my broken Xda II and have noticed a problem when listening to music (using WMP). If I tuirn off flight mode the sound cuts out as soon as the network is found; I can't stop WMP using the task manager and so have to perform a soft reset. If I connect the radio first and then start the music things are fine unless I mvoe into an area without a signal - when I get the signal back the same thing happens.
I've read a number of threads about the ROM updates - would updating the ROM to get the new radio version correct this fault?
ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
ROM date: 01/27/05
Radio version: 1.00.00
Protocol version: 1337.39
ExtROM version: 1.11.162 WWE
Corporate mode.

This was a TYTN 2 ROM upgrade released by HTC sometime in Feb this year..it had a lot of GPS issues...
so you're saying...
...it's not advisable to install this upgrade? This "GPS issue" sounds an awful lot like the "GPS issue" with WM6.1. Could it be that this problem has been incorrectly diagnosed as a WM6.1 problem when in fact it's the ROM upgrade that's to fault?

They kind of go hand in hand.. You don't get WM6.1 without an updated radio, but evidence suggests that it's not specifically WM 6.1 that has GPS problems, that is is the radio. Some radios are "okay" with GPS, although in my personal (very limited) experience, going from my stock Tilt ROM/Radio to what's in my sig my GPS takes longer and is weaker (HDOP drops VERY slowly once it's locked, and rarely gets below 2-3 when before it was always below 2). But it works. It's slower, but it works.
There are better folks than you or I to speculate on GPS problems, there's several threads on it, just thought I'd mention that.
