Developers... Controlling GPRS Connection - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hey peeps,
I'm building a GPS tracking system, and I need to control the GPRS connection rather then having an constant connection.
Anyone got any unmanaged or managed calls I can make to an api/dll or program that will make and break the connection when required?
Edit: I'm running XDA IIs o2.
Regards
Gav

Isn't this better placed in the Development section?
I haven't done much GPRS work yet. Check out the dev section, one of our number (OdeeanRDeathshead) recently posted an example app to demonstrate socket communications through GPRS. He'll help you out I'm sure.

default network connection?

Hi guys
I've got a question regarding the diamond, though it could also be possible that this is only a windows mobile question. Is it possible to *only* allow data-connections via WLAN and *not* GPRS/UMTS/whatsoever? I want to use this thing at home and at university but how does the diamond know which connection it should use? I don't want any byte sent to my provider which is quite expensive. What happens if I open Opera and WLAN is not connected? Does it auto-connect with $money-printing-machine-for-o2 or does it then tell me "hey, you are not connected. try within a WLAN-cloud"?
Thanks
Tunnelblick
if you remove the isp settings for gprs/3g/whatever
it will never use it for data
Ah, thanks! This is what I always did with my old mobiles. I thought you had to do a magic dance with wm to achieve what I wanted.
Does anyone know anyway to get opera to ask which connection to use when I fire it up?
I have search already but have only found something about 'My Work Connection' but that does'nt work.
Like th OP stated but I need to keep the data settings so I can use them when WIFI is not available.
Thanks in advance
Creeky
Is there any utility like this?
Is there any utility, which will do the next:
If any program want to conect to internet it will ask me first how do I want to connect: Wi-Fi, 3g, GPRS? And I will choose...
I'm also looking for a solution for this problem.
Currently I has diabled the mobile data traffic by choosing an unconfigurated network at the "Programs that connects automaticly to Internet should connect with" screen.
This is fairy ok due to me rarly using other networks than wifi. But IF I do, I don't want to have to mess around with the network settings. I want an "choose your network" popup message.

[Q] PPPoE on Windows Mobile 6.1

Searched through old threads and found out that this question was asked before in different sections of the forum but couldn't find a solution though...
Anyways,
in order to connect my Diamond to my broadband wireless connection (I get the signal throughout the whole city) I need to setup my PPPoE User name and password.
Is there a way to connect my Diamond to the internet?
Basically, what I need is a PPPoE client for Windows Mobile...
Thanks
Yes, pleaseeeee, I also really need a PPPoE connection on the phones, so I beg you if you can come up with an app that does that, I'd be moore then thankful!

2 data connection at the same time

Hi all,
I tried to stablish two data connection on my kaiser with ROM 3.29.412.0 ESN and Radio 1.65.17.56.
The first one is for BlackBerry connect 4.0.0.106, an the other ona is for internet acces.
The problem is when BB is connected and I start an application which use the other data connection, the BB ones stop working till I close the other connection.
I remember taht I could have both data connection at the same time, but I cannot remember the configuration settings.
Could someone help me?...
Thanks.....
Pablo
Not that this helps much, but about 6 months ago I was playing with PPP settings and did find a registry setting which controlled how many ppp connections should be used over the modem. I changed it from one to two and magically I could dial on with both ATT media net (wap.Cingular) and the ISP (isp.Cingular) simultaneously. I think this is what you are looking for, however I forget the registry entry.
Even if you get this accomplished, I think you might run in to problems with the routing tables in the device. I would study up on routing, default routes and other such information. This will help you solve the next problem of actually dealing with two network connections.
Addition:
After some quick googling on RIL (Radio Interface Layer) I found the page again.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa919118.aspx
If you do not understand this page and its contents then this project is not for you. You will find it is much more complicated then just editing a registry entry. If your radio supports multiple connections and you are savvy about IP/Routing tables then you might be able to accomplished this.
This is not to discourage you but let you understand that this is not for a novice who is unwilling to work for the results.
Good luck!

unknown connections

hey,
my HTC constantly wants to access internet and i don't know why; it does even no program or task is currently running.
it's very annoying to me... pleas help
ROM: 1.81.69.3 PLK
OS: WM 6.0
I get my HTC from Oragne
>>sory for my english i hope it's understandable<<
What do you mean it wants to access the internet? Is it launching a browser all on its own? Is it starting up Activesync on its own? Or is it just establishing a data connection with the network?

is it JUST establishing a data connection with the network... or rather it WANTS to establish connetions because i don't let it do automatically (requires to click OK when asking about password)
Ok... I am not sure about WM 6.0, I have a cooked ROM on my phone... but can you try entering the communication manager using one of the icons on the top of the screen, and then turning off data connections from there?
I know that it is also rather touchy, in general, and likes to try and establish a data connection for the sole reason it is making sure the network is available and so forth. I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you don't have a data plan, in that case I would mess up my connection settings so it won't connect.
thanks for advices

How to disable applications from connecting to mobile internet

Hey there guys. Im under a contract for my phone at the moment and the mobile internet (HSDPA/3G) connection is not free.
Is there a way I can totally DISABLE all applications from connection to my connection without my permission?
Please help
Thank you
What about the app 'NoData'. Maybe what you're looking for. Found somewhere on this site I think. Used it for ages and seems to work well.
Yes, the NoData application is the best thing to do the job. Easy, simple and basic. It even tells you when disabling connections that it is your responsibility to make sure DATA connections have been closed.
