anyone know how i can stop this? also when i try to log in on agile messenger, it says cannot connect with the current settings...
anyone suggest why this is happening? and how i can change it so i can log in thru wi-fi?
thanks
Try connecting wifi, then connecting using agile messenger, even if GPRS does connect after that point, it will be using Wifi.
Also make sure your device knows that your WiFi connection is used to connect to the internet and not just a vpn.

Sorry, this may be a dumb question...
How do you stop the Kaiser from accessing 3G (or WiFi) whilst connected to a PC via ActiveSync. So, duing the day it would use 3G, however when connected via ActivSync at night it would use the PC connection to the internet for all downloads, MS Exchange sync, etc
thanks!
There is a setting in activesync that will disallow all 'wireless' connections while the device is connected. In this case, I believe they mean 3g, gprs, wifi, etc. will all be disabled. It is under 'Connection Settings'.

For me, i would like the reverse.
I'm setting up activesync to connect to Exchange servers (mail2web), but in the connection settings, i can only see the choice "Internet" and nothing else (ie. my GPRS sets)
Thus, I can only get emails pushed to me when i am on WIFI, but not GPRS.
The only way i can make it happen is at START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS where i set "All programs that automatically connects to internet .." to my GPRS set, but not "MY WORK NETWORK"
but if i set it to my GPRS set, if i were to accidentally surf web when wifi is not on, it would incurr GPRS charges ..
any idea?
On the same topic...
I used to be able to surf the web on the HTC 8125, using the laptop's internet connection, using the USB cable. I can no longer do this? Any ideas? What happens now it that it the phone conects to GPRS automatically, apparently it can not detect the internet from the laptop...
Thx in advance.

is this setting perhaps the setting you need to turn on on your pc?
this allowed me to be active sync connected to my pc but the phone browsed via Cell Service rather than via my pc.

If your service provider uses a proxy setting on your phone to connect then you have to set up the same proxy in your web browser on your laptop.
I have a notebook, with MS Vista, and with mobile internet (pcmcia card). A tried to connect internet via s730 through mobile device center, but i can't.
I tried with WI-FI: connect to my notebook (ad hoc connection) but i can't use internet.
I tried it with free hotspot and it works.
I don't understand. What can i do?
How are you trying to get online?
You want the s730 do connect to your data network and share that? Or do you want to dial it into the internet (someone got that working on here) or are you connected through your notebook already and want to share that to your s730?

I don't know, that was BT connection.

I've never been able to get this to work, I don't even know if you can or not.
I am confused.
Do you want your s730 to get on the Internet by connecting to your laptop? Can you just use a usb cable then you can use internet connection through laptop onto phone.
If I understand you correctly your laptop is what is online and you want it to pass the connection onto your phone through the wifi?
If thats the case that you just need to enable ICS on your laptop. It will be under your menu settings, I havnt messed around with vista's network settings so I cannot tell you quite what it looks like. Possibly a check box or a protocol to install. But once you install Internet Connection Sharing your computer should pass the connection out.

I have this working on my machine with my 730. Often you might need to repair the network connection to your phone from the network connection control panel as it sometimes loses it's IP address.
I also found that I needed to do some work in OneCare which I use as an AntiVirus and Firewall as this was blocking access to the Mobile Device Center.
hope this helps

Hi, I got my TyTNII (kaiser) on saturday and have just managed to sort out the wireless client at work.
I don't get free bandwidth from Orange so don't really want to be using my Orange web connection when I am actually connected to wifi at work. How can i set my phone to use wireless when it is connected rather than trying to open even more connections? Its really annoying as it keeps checking my email accounts and using HSDPA to do so.
Internet Explorer wont even use the Wifi
what use is a phone with wifi if it wont actually use the wifi to access the internet?
Could someone point me at the settings. There must be a setting somewhere to get it to use the connection!

I have had no problem using WiFi with IE or any other browser. I always connect to my router via Comm Manager first (enable WiFi) and then open IE or another browser and surf the net.
Just click on the network card tab when setting up wifi and make sure that the card is set to connect to "the internet".
Your device will use a valid wifi connection if its available (before trying gprs/3g)
You may also try installing a CAB called "NoData" or "KasierTweak" that will allow you to temporarily disable data services other than your Wifi. This is what I use since I am not on a data plan (yet) with AT&T.

ah yeah - just found this - it was set to 'work' simply because its my connection at work. obviously WM counts that has being different to 'the internet'
seems okay now.
Thanks for the help
If you have an active wireless connection, it will automatically use that connection instead of your data connection regardless.
So my laptops internal wireless card gave out, and while I don't mind using 3g.. wifi is a little faster, so is there a way to use that instead of 3g? I do not see it as an option in the internet sharing app.
thanks
hmm, i think ICS could do that.......... connect via wifi then connect ICS with USB or bluetooth..... hmm, i was thinking wmwifirouter could do it but i am not sure
already tried that. I think that wmwifirouter is for sharing 3g over wireless
simple..I do that all the time.
Turn off Data Connection
Turn On WiFi
Turn On Internet Sharing
..wah-la !
i tried that but under network connection wifi does not appear and it tries to connect to 3g?
I know we can simply connect my HTC via my wireless connection,
but is there a way, presumeably if we want to connect our phone
to the internet via PC. anyone care to share the tricks? thx.
Hi,
I have a problem with the GPRS and Wireless connection. I am using Windows Live mail and and set it up so it is manually synchronized! Same with other mail accounts.
But, every time I connect to the internet using wireless and then press Send/Recieve, it keeps opening GPRS and use it to retrieve new e-mails and ignores my wireless connection!!! Which is really annoying.
How do I fix that?
I have exactly the same... but then with internet sharing with my laptop... keeps using my gprs/3g instead off the wifi that is 100 times faster.
annoying
and it is really annoying as you said, it is much faster with wifi and for people like me where I do not have monthly GPRS data included, it's really annoying and costs a lot.
Earlier, I had my e-mail to automatically download new emails daily and suddenly, I got a huge phone bill because of that problem!! So, e-mails are downloaded manually now until I fix the problem!!

Newer Windows Live always tries to connect using your default Internet Connection even when you are already online. To solve this, you need to go to:
Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks. Change everything to My Work Network.
With this, Windows Live won't try to connect when you have active internet connection. The problem now is, if you have no active internet connection, it will force your device to connect to your gprs/3g but will fail to work. You will need to reset the setting above to your gprs/3g connection.
yes but
Yes but chaning preferences for my network would result in not having my mms working, or gprs when I need it?
However, I have to go back to settings and change everything again to get things to work!!!! I would rather have a solution than a workaround
not working

I tried your solution but the phone tries to connect using MMS connection and of course windows live mail fails to download emails even though my wifi is on and connected!! It just ignores the wifi??

Have you tried NoDATA with HTC Diamond with WM6.1?? NoData seems to be an old cab file for older versions of WM?
