Hi, I have the XDA Mini S from O2 Germany.
I desperately want to flash it with an English ROM, so two problems arise:
1. Guarantee - after reflashing, I should be able to restore the device with the old OS and lock it, so that the XDA support doesn't get that I've changed the ROM.
2. The keyboard is with German layout and I suppose the English ROM will expect an English layout, so the keys might be messed up.
Is it possible to change to an English OS without having the above stated problems?
Thank you very much in advance. Nice forum
OK, after reading threads, turns out that I can keep the hardware keyboard layout.
How about the restoring the previous German and locked state?

I've been scouring the forums for hours and trying different methods to try and unlock the device to go from the German version to the English version operating system.
I tried using Lokiwiz02b but it just kept giving me an ITWriteDisk error. Then I tried using Wizard_RomUpgradeUtility_noID.rar on the standard O2 updates provided from their O2.uk site, but that wasn't working either.
Does anyone have a way that you know works to get the OS to be in English and not German?

I also am interested in changing the user language from German to English. I have found several posts that managed to change the XDA Neo from german to english, but not to many for the "S". I tried once and had to go back to the factory settings because the phone became non responsive. Thanks for asking.
Hello!
I am new on this forum and also new at upgrading. My problem is: I would like to buy Trinity phone with german language and then I would like to upgrade it to english language. Phone won't be lock to any mobile operator.
Will I have problem with upgrade and whitch version of ROM should I use? For now I just want that I will have english version and it isn't necessary that GPS is activated. With GPS I will play later.
Bye,
Borut
Is it possible or not?
It is possible. In fact I had a german HTC Rom and updated to WWE (World Wide English) for GPS. Now using english Rom wasnt as easy as I thought because I got a non german keyboard and non german Transcriber and dictionaries ... etc
Thank you for your answer.
Could you write a procedure what exsactly you did?
I readed some posts about upgrading ROM. If I understood right I should use SSPL flashing tool for upgrading, am I right (because original language is german)?

Hi. I'd just bought HTC touch pro2 and I believe it's for the german market. It has qwertz keyboard. It was flashed with WWE 6.1 ROM ( as far as I can see it's official ROM not cooked) When I press y key it turns out z, symbol keys are all mixed up... I tried keyboard mapping software, but got messed up... and gave up. I need help...some people on other forums suggested that I can flash it with german ROM, but I don't speak german. Anyway, is there a way to fix it in my present software (except keyboard mapper) or can you tell me what to do...maybe I can try cooked ROM in english with qwertz keyboard view? If you can reccommend me any... Thank you in advance (sorry for my english)
I'm using a german Touch Pro 2 called MDA Vario V. When I'm using an english ROM (mostly energy ROMs) I change 2 Registry-Keys and my Keyboard works right with qwertz-layout and all symbols.
change in
HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles
eT9.Rhodium.wwe.kmap.txt
to
eT9.Rhodium.0407.kmap.txt
--------------------------------------------------
and in
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
change
"CurLang" from value="1033" to value="1031"
hope it helps

Qwertz/qwerty problem solved.
Spikee Thank you very much for the advice. It works great!!!
I have tried these Regedits on my Vario V as well, and while it does fix the Y and Z
issues, there are still some problems. The only way to fix the issue is to replace the included eT9.Rhodium.0407.kmap.txt
file with one that is from an actual German TP2/Vario. Only then did the keyboard act the way to should.
Seems the stock eT9.Rhodium.0407 file from the WWE ROM is not fully compatible
with the T-Mo DE Vario, which has certain KB mods. You can find links to the replacement
file here, just search around some more.
yes, this solves the problem. thankx
I downloaded the ROM RUU_Rhodium_S_HTC_PTG_1.86.410.0_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.17_Signed_Ship, available right here in the forum, go to the rom for my TP, I realized that the ALT has not worked, or the special functions of the QWERTY keyboard does not work . I wish my colleagues gave me a suggestion to solve the problem due. I thank everyone's attention. Hugs.
What model of phone do you have exactly ? It is an AT&T one or a T-Mobile one ? I wonder what keyboard layout you have.
Is this a Portuguese ROM ? Sorry I am not sure exactly what this ROM is, I realise it's an official one.
Good afternoon, my device is HTC Touch Pro2 T-Mobile, I'm from Brazil, and how has WM6.5 rom with PT-BR, I chose one that is en_US. Layout of it is English Universal. PORTUGUESE ROM is from Portugal. It is an official ROM, only unlock the SPL to accept other ROMS. Any help will be of good use. Hugs
ok, so you have a T-mobile branded phone ? Then it has a different keyboard layout. You should be able to find a cab file that will give you the keyboard layout for T-mobile if you do a search
Hi,
my HTC HD7 comes from US (in from Belgium). I do not care getting it in English but it's a bit more complicated for the keyboard layout in QWERTY and its english dictionnay.
Is it at least possible to get and azerty layout keyboard with a french dictionnary.
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Hey, sry I can't answer your question. Instead I have a question for you. You ssay your HD7 is from the US. How did you unlock it since it's only available from T-Mobile
Go to Settings -> Keyboard -> click on english and switch to "French"
Dunno if that is part of English ROM. In German ROM you're able to switch to German, English and Spanish.
Hi,
unfortunately there is no other choice than english keyboard. It is already possible to install another rom than original one ? Let's say German rom on a US model ?
To jcob: I unlocked it through www.cellunlocker.net. Cost me rather 20$.
Thanks.
