Can you help?
Have recently bought a Xda Mini S from O2 and installed a new 128MB MiniSD card.
Since installing the card, the Xda keeps asking if I want to search for new audio and video files on the card. This happens every time I start the Xda up.
What am I doing wrong. I'm a new Xda user so maybe I've set something up incorrectly??
Many thanks, Roo 64

Hi
I have a copy of tomtom5 which came with my xda ii and its on one of the big memory cards (i think)
i have owned this from new so can get a transfer code but will it transfer onto a micro sd card and be compatible with my xda steller?
thanks in advance and apologies for my noob question
I think it should go fine. If you make an exact copy of the TomTom files to the microSD all should be well
thanks for your help
i dont suppose anyone has run this software on their phone already?
i wasnt sure if there were different versions for different phones to be honest
do i need a micro sd or a mini sd?
whats this transflash thing as well?
i am such a novice lol
TT5 works fine on mine but I installed clean from the CDs.
I've been getting the "Blank External SD card. SD card blank or has unsupported file system." message every time I restart my phone since the day I purchased it. The only way for me to get the message to go away is by letting my phone format the external SD card, but even after doing this I am unable to create any folders on my external. It gives me the "creation failed" error message. My current SD card is a 4gig HC SD card. I used it in my HTC Tilt2 before I bought my captivate and never had an issue. (I actually ended up losing everything I had on it when I put it in my captivate because of this issue) Does anyone know how I can fix this so that my external sd card will actually work and stop requiring me to format it?
I had tried searching the forum for anything on this but only found items relating to 3rd party roms.

Have you ever formatted it on your PC? i know that it can cause problems if you choose the incorrect format type.
No, I've only ever had it in my tilt 2 or my captivate.

Have you tried a different SD card? Sounds like you have a faulty one. There are no settings in the Captivate that require a reformat for anything. I know this sucks, but I can't think of anything else.
Unfortunately I don't have another card to try though I haven't tried it again in my tilt 2..

Try it again in your Tilt. I am willing to bet it will not work. If true, stick it in your PC, format with the NTFS file system and use it as a ready boost tool. That way it is not a complete waste.
Ready boost with a micro SD is not advisable. It will be the same as nothing..

Would you rather have a wasted 4 gig SD or use the 4 gig towards ready boost? I never said it was going to do much, but to some people a little is a lot.

So I tried another sd card and my phone didn't even recognize it, even after a reboot. I'm guessing it's time to call up at&t?

Hey guys
Okay straight to the weird problems I am experiencing
Running darkys 8.1
First is that when I plug my phone to the computer i only get access to my internal sd card while the external stays slightly transparent and can't open. Used to get both opening up but now only Internal sd card Happened a while ago but paid no heed to it and now i guess i am paying for it. have trying dual mounting and other things to try to get it to work but no luck.
Secondly I just recently got a 32gb the new sd card( promblem number 1 still persisting with the new sd card aswell) and it seems all the videos I put on it start to get corrupted one by one. I would watch the video and 10 mins later I get unsupported file type. Which is kind of weird as everything would be good and few seconds later half of my videos are useless.
Allready formated sd card several times ones through the computer and twice through phone.
Thanks for reading!

Hi all!
If i put empty or few files, media scanner go well and after the phone works correctly.
If i put all my songs (10GB) the scanner freezes the phone when it arrives 60% about.
There are ALL mp3 files, nothing more.
I'm on official european v20s (not rooted, flashed with SFT)
What can i do?
have you tried unmounting and mounting sdcard using settings menu?
tried all, i've tested two sandisk microsd hc 16gb and 32 with same settings and files, only 32gb freezes the phone.
reading on web i found many 32 gb microsd issues on android :/

no its not... i am using it from lat 1 year may be your sd card speed is too slow
Ok. i got a 32gb card here. The load takes around 15minutes. Could be due to speed reading problem?
I've been using a 32gb class 4 sandisk card from a year now n 32gb is filled with songs n bids (6k in total)... no problems in reading since I moved to a custom ROM... the slow speed prob was on official lg releases only

Hi,
got a strange problem here.
i bought a raspberry pi kit from Maplin (£80) which included a class 6 transcend 4gb SD card.
the card was working fine until one day i went to boot the RPi and it didnt boot at all, no ACT light flash... nothing!!
i took the SD card out and re-flashed a backup image of my Rasbian to the card and still nothing.
i downloaded NOOBS and tried that after formatting with the SDformatter 4.0. still nothing.
I used my camera SD card in the PI and it boots fine!
any ideas.
I have tried RPI-UPDATE and erasing all the partitions off the sd card and formatting again.
I just have no idea why it wont work.
Bad se card i guess.
Discard it and be happy
The sad card works ok in my camera. I took a few hundred photos on it and it didn't complain!!

Your card is just bad, otherwise it would work in the pi, maybe it works well in the camera but just not in the raspberry pi

You can refer to this list of SD card that is compatible with Raspberry Pi.
Google this keyword "raspberry pi sd card compatibility" click on the first link.
Sorry XDA not allowing me to post link
I had a similar problem. It worked in my camera but not the pi. On my mac in disk utility I tried secure erase (overwrite the card with zeros) and it said that the disk was indeed bad. The camera only uses parts of the disk, pi uses all of it. Try overwriting the disk with zeros, you may find out it is indeed bad. Hope that helps good luck

Thanks for all your help. I've tried overwriting with 0's and it never complained. I will try some sdcard checking software and see what that says.

Try using Wind32DiskImage to create a new image on the SD card, and then try again.
Worked for me with a similar issue

tried the above.
Thanks for your help throughout the thread. I now have a second SD card that has died on me too! went out and bought a 16gb Sandisk which has worked for a while and now its stopped working all together. the Pi boots off another SD card I have lying around but not the 16gb, it was working one day then decided not to work the next, when the PI boots up I get no ACT light at all.
There has to be a fix for this issue, By googling I found a huge amount of people suffering from the same issues, some find resolutions by destroying the partitions on the card and re-formatting, others by simply re-writing the img. None of those solutions work on my 4gb and 16gb sd's now.
Is there any utilities out there that can properly test the flash memory for errors?
Cheers in advance.

So! After giving up on my Pi for quite some time i got bored and rather than install another rom on my phone i decided to actually check the RPi.
It seems the case i have been using has been pushing against the sd card which in turn has slightly damaged the sdcard slot. Applying a slight bit of pressure to the card slot when turning on makes the sd card work! Replacing the sdcard slot is easy peasy... time to get my soldering iron out! ☺☺☺
Thanks for all your help.
