MDA 3 English ROM Upgrade

I just got a MDA 3 T-Mobile which is obviously in German. Someone sent me to english ROM, but it is a .nb1 file, and I am not exactly how to upgrade the device. Should I use XDATools? I am not sure what loader to use, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
NB1 file
Can you post the file?
Thanks
If someone can help me upgrade mine...
I get an error when trying to load the english ROM for the MDA 3, it says that the device is not connected, I have been able to copy the german ROM, off the device, but can't seem to load one in, or copy it to the SD Card, anyone have any ideas?
why don't you share with us on what you have and maybe someone here would be able to do something and bring the project to completion. so why don't you share your file with us?
Sure, do I simply upload the file here? Or i have to host it myself?
T-Mobile MDA III German ROM.
Here it is, someone please help me find a way to upgrade the ROM on the device, I think the problem is finding the correct bootloader...Thanks
Uploaded file using FTP, Filename is NKT.nb1 in the main directory
Before running the upgrade are you disbaling usb in activesync and then entering bootloader mode on your phone and cradling it?
No, I havn't tried that, ActiveSync was running, with USB connected, I am not sure how to go into bootloader mode, I tried holding power button and soft reset, that didn't do it though.
I also tried holding down the power button, center button on the directional navigation pad, and reset button with stylus and that just clears the data.
Managed to get into the bootloader, problem is now that i unchecked USB connection in ActiveSync, XDATools says please connect your XDA, it cant find it now, is this the correct way to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated
you may try to refpash XDA3 through the SD card. I've seen several posts on doing this for XDA2, but cannot find. Probably the process should be the same except for reflashing GSM ROM.
You'll also need an english extended rom.

Have you successfully dumped existing ROM to SD-card with bootloader? Like in this post: http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=62&PN=1
You need to dump only WinCE ROM. Then reflash this ROM back.
If you'd succeed - then upload your SD card contents somewhere and I'll try to integrate english rom into it.
And have you tried to run the XDA2 upgrade tool? What does it say?
Hi,
i did everything you said and it works fine but i am unable to see the datas from my SD Card now. The MDA3 or my Cardreader want to format the card. Otherwise it wont let me take a look at it.
PS: i can show you the ext. ROM, maybe that helps?`
Read this maybe it will help you to do it, http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=93 it used to recover the dead XDA II

Well you have 4 problems and one thing great that is going for you!
On the posative side you have the Radio 1.10.00 which we all want to get our fingers on, this will gain you many points when it comes to helping you.
Now to your problems
1) You have a PH20B1 which is a none camera rom. As you have read on wiki you need to fix this but you cant as there is no tool that works on the new rom encription (at the momnet its under developemnt) so you are going to get a device id error.
2) Your rom number is high and thus the only WWE upgrade that will work will put you back to 1.22 (if you can fix problem 1). Now this is infact a good rom and as you see I am still on it.
3) You wnat to cahnge to WWE and thus you will be confronted with the country code error, which again you cant fix due to tha lack of a tool.
3) You have no sd card, which is a shame and they are cheap.
What you could try.
There is a fix/hack for the county code issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=98811#98811
Now maybe this works also for the Device ID, I have NO idea and have never tried the fix/hack myself.
I would think that as you are the 02 you would be able to use the o2 uk rom, again you would need to try it. (it is or was on wiki)
On the 02 UK rom, extract it and run the BaUpgradeUt.exe without the fix.bat
Also try the i-mate 1.22 of wiki with the fix bat.
What ever you do, delete the radio_.ndf form any upgrade folder for I am sure you want to keep the 1.10.00 radio.
This is all safe as long as after you have started the BaUpgradeUt.exe your do not go further than the screen that tells you what rom you have and what rom you are going to install. After that, well you could end up with a brick.
So you need a SD card to save your self or you need to find the German O2 Ship file to reflash if it goes bad.
Both options would again give US the radio 1.10.00 and I am sure you will find a few others that will help you in the hope that they can get that radio.
Viel spass!

O2 Asia Ext ROM

anyone kind enough to upload the extended rom of o2 asia (1.11.923) please.. just lost mine when trying to upgrade the radio rom, stupid me forgot to backup the ext rom
Hi, please check this link
XDAIIi How to cook/flash Extended ROM
or
2577 method
my friend Ru Chonburi, he applied Dr.Chair method to modify extended rom of Xda IIi. If you don't want to flash rom, check 2577 method, from the second link.
You'll find asia rom out there also.[/url]
Hi @Chan!
I want to get less memory in the EXtend Rom. But I don't knwn how to cook the rom. Can I apply your cook rom and how does it effect??

Yes, it easiest and fastest, no need hexeditor or total commander (that you have to install driver .inf manually). Basic concept is from Dr.Chair.
I don't find any problem, this 2i still can be flash as usual method. I flash more than 10 times with 3 Xda2i.
This morning, I've tested to flash to dopod chinese rom, then I use sd card to reflash back to O2A ia without any problem.
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=373
Note: I found that SD card whice backup rom from O2UK 2i (bought from UK), can not be used to flash O2Asia (bought from Asia) or vice versa.

romupdate from SD mini?

Hi everyone,
I don't know if this is possible (have been reading most post in this section) but is it possible to do a romupdate from the mini SD card?
I know on my old ipaq this could be done. but I have now idea how to do this on my m3000. I would like to update to the latest Qtek rom.
So far I have the romupdate setup file, but that's just about it. since I dont have my usb cable I would like to know if there is any other way to do the update..
all suggestions are welcome
Nghia
What device do you have?
Is it a UK MDA Vario version of the K-Jam?
it's a Dutch Orange M3000 device which I would like to upgrade with the latest qtek rom or I-Mate rom, depends on which one is better (WWE or Dutch, doesn't really matter to me).
Do you mean backing up your rom on to sd?
If so yes you can. Bear in mind try uise a samll sd card as rom will be size of your card.
Next thing if you wnat to update rom with out backing up.
Run lozwiz, again, but this time run unlock your CID tool.
Then you can just the exe rom updtae with out any vendoe code issues.

Heijdeman, do you mean that a r2sd backup can't be restored to a MDA Vario? I want to try the QTEK and K-JAM roms since I understood a backup could be restored.
In your opinion, is it imposible to revert to a T-Mobile image until they provide a ROM upgrade?
TIA, Cheers,
Cactus

Can you also write down how you made this backup? I have tried many ways with mine without success. I'm also trying to backup my t-mobile ROM before updating to K-Jam. However, it seems like t-mobile made a change to the bootloader.

Hi Mesh,
I couldn't put my Dutch MDA Vario into bootloader mode. The photo + voice + reset key method is not working with mine. Could you tell me how did you do it while making the backup of the ROM?
Thanks,
Hi guys
Tomorrow I'll buy a T-mobile MDA Vario and I want to unlock it and change the language to English (as I live in France but I like it in English).
I will first try to backup the Dutch ROM and I'll try to upload it to the forum's ftp unless the existing RUU_Prodigy_1030710_110_10410_Qtek_NLD_Ship.exe is the one you seek.
Also if you have any tips and tricks on the howto backup and restore the ROM on the T-mobile MDA Vario (HTC Wizard) I would do it asap (tomorrow).
I've bought the T-mobile MDA Vario today did the specified steps to backup my ROM:
1) Sim unlocked
2) SuperCID it (they said that the warranty is lost if you do this but I didn't had any choice). Now other ROM's can be installed on the device.
3) Used the romupdate.exe and ntrw.exe to create a dump of my ROM on the provided 512 mb mini sd
4) Used my laptop's SD reader to dump the minisd on a file (~500Mb)
Until here is the backup process, next is the restore process
5) Used ntrw to write the dump file on the minisd
6) Put the minisd in the vario and power it up by holding the voice comm and camera buttons
7) Pressed the voice button when the message Install from SD card appeared
8 ) The Install was succesful and then I rebooted the Vario and had the same install procedure as the first time that I boot it. During the first one as during this one the screen freezed and I manually rebooted, but I think that trying to press the Start button will un-freeze it.
If anyone needs my ROM's dump, let me know.
Happy new year to all
PS: Additional infos
ROM Version : 1.3.2.3 NLD

Making the Backup
Hi all,
I'm trying to make a backup of my MDA myself before flashing a new ROM.
When connecting my MDA to the USB cable while holding the camera button I get the three colours screen and my Windows XP detects a new 'USB Device' and tries to install a driver for it.
It detects the MDA in a different way than when connecting it normally. When connecting it in this way, no driver is found.
I don't know if this is related, but when running the romupdate_115.exe, it takes a while until I get the program screen and in the list of ports, the USB is not present.
What I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help.
