Downgrading from 2.21.4.1 back to 1.5.4.102 - How??

After applying the 2.21.4.1 latest update for my XDA mini s i've found that the reception's not as good as the previous 1.5.4.102 version. I tried to reflash the software with the original rom from the o2 website but it won't allow me to downgrade back to how it was before. I've also tried the various radio roms available from this forum, but the reception's still not as good as it was before applying the upgrade
Is it possible to downgrade back to the original shipping software or not?

You'll need to downgrade, CID unlock, and then move to your desired ROM. To downgrade successfully though, you'll need the 1.x ROM packaged with the no-ID installer. Look through the first few pages of posts for a message that says something like "Solution found for downgrading 2.x ROMs".

That, unfortunately, does not work for the AKU 2.2 (version 2.21) and up ROMs.

So there's no way to go back? When I phoned O2 I specifically asked if the new radio would give me better reception and they said 'yes'. If i'd have known it would be for the worse then I wouldn't have bothered installing the upgrade :twisted:

Extract the rom you want to update. Make sure you place all the files in one folder. I used Win Rar to extract the rom. Make sure you have nk.nbf, ROMUpdateUtility.exe and along with all the other files. Replace RUUGetInfo.exe with the one I have attached. It will trick your Wizard thinking that it is on a lower ROM version so that you can do the update. Then run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe, and everything should be the same.

Any idea where I can get nk.nbf, ROMUpdateUtility.exe
I've done a search on this forum but can't find it anywhere.

You downloaded the Update (RUU_Prodigy_2210206_22102109_021911_TMO_UK_WWE_Ship.exe).
Just rename it to RUU_Prodigy_2210206_22102109_021911_TMO_UK_WWE_Ship.rar and open it with Winrar.

Sorry if you think i'm stupid but I don't know much about pc's.
What i've done so far is to download the original shipping rom from the o2 website, extract the contents into 1 folder, replaced the RUUGetInfo.exe rom with the one supplied by phouki and clicked on the ROMUpdateUtility.exe to start the update. It displayed an error message about 5-10 seconds into the update saying that I need a newer version of nk.nbf and this is where I don't know what to do next.
Your help is very much appreciated and thanks in advance.

Search for RomUpdateUtility_NoID.exe download it and use it instead of RomUpdateUtility.exe

It's flashed using that method but now my XDA is saying that it's the same ROM as I had previously:

Radio version: 02.07.10
Protocol version: 413.1.03
ExtROM version: 2.21.4.101

Which method is "that method"?
When you have been given more than one suggestion, please quote back part of the post so we know which one you're referring to.
Please list exactly the steps you used to flash with the original shipping rom.

1) I downloaded the original shipping rom Xda_MiniS-LaunchRomv154102 from the o2 website
2) Extracted the contents into 1 folder using WinRar
3) Replaced the RUUGetInfo.exe rom with the one supplied by phouki
4) Replaced RomUpdateUtility.exe with ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID
5) Clicked on the ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID to start the upgrade.
The phone dialer skin has changed back to how it was when I bought the phone so I presume it's worked to some extent but couldn't be 100% sure with it still saying it's got the updated ROM version of 2.21.4.1 WWE

Can't be sure but I'd guess not. If the RUU thinks you flashed good then it will hard reset which would do that.

I've tried reflashing it again and it's exactly the same. The IPL is 1.05 and SPL is 2.21. It's asking me to choose between 'basic' and 'corporate' settings when customizing. The only thing I can see that's changed is the phone skin.
Where can I get any older ROMs for it than than v15402?

You're not going to get any love with other ROMs until you CID unlock. Because you upgraded to 2.21 before CID unlocking there are no free solutions.
Hit up http://imei-check.co.uk (and no, I don't have anything to do with them) and pay the £20. That should SIM and CID unlock your phone. At that point, you should be able to reflash the older ROM without issue.

I tried this solution and it also didnt work for me trying to downgrade from the new cingular release back to the old qtek one. I however found a solution that did work for me here

Adam P,
Use the link flipwalter posted (in the quote). You might be toasted already though. If that process doesn't work the you need to get a 1.x Rom from your Carrier (is it O2?) and extract the RUU & nk.nbf files. Then use the RRUGetInfo file from the earlier post to try to get the older rom onto your phone.
That failing, you need to either dump 20 pounds to imeicheck for thier CID unlock.

Wizard stuck at splash screen!!! DEAD!

Hi,
I accidentally flashed a not CID unlocked wizard with Black Diamond rom using a ShellTool - now it loads only till windows splash screen!
It is G3 device - it allows to flash Buton rom, also MiniSrom and others - process bar goes to 100% but windows doesn't boot anyway!
What options do I have?
PS. I guess I'm one of the guy who have bricked the most devices ever - this one, 3x HTC Tytn, S200, etc.

Need QTEK 9100 German Rom - the wiki links are dead!
Can anybody please advise where to look for Qtek 9100 german rom?!!!

The phone is NOT cid unlcoked!

After a while playing with the Wizards I have found some things - I got 4 wizards by now - and I have managed to brick 2 of them.
First thing to recommend to all - if your Wizard is running and everything is fine - then don't upgrade - you don't need that brick. Trough if you try to upgrade and you can't get from wm5 to wm6 - then probably you should stop trying unless you want to brick your device totally!!!!
Now I have one Wizard G3 probaby not CID unlocked with IPL 1.01 / SPL 1.03 and different OS versions - I can flash button Rom, Wizard Love etc. but nothing changes, just the version of the OS. I have no GSM and the IPL stays 0.01.
The second one - seems to be CID unlocked - allows to flash any rom, IPL changes, SPL stays at 3.08 - can't downgrade, OS changes - can't boot!
I can flash these units forever, I can change bootscreens - but I can't get back to windows!
This happened when I tried to use ShellTool to flash WM6 on my Wizards - don't do that!!!!
Can anybody tell me why I'm not able to boot OS if I have the Wizard Love rom, button rom and other full working roms on my wizards?

karlux - I'd be willing to take a crack at the devices you have and get some good documentation going for everyone. I have successfully revived Wizards, Apache, Wallaby, and the Hurricane so far.

How come you have that many devices ? What's your job ?
Your "dead" wizard is not dead. Only stuck. Get it into bootloader and re-flash .

Shelltool isn't dangerous if you use it properly, meaning you can't flash WM6 if the IPL/SPl are still in 1.xx
To use the SD card method and the phone is CID locked then i recommend using imeicheck's tool to CID unlock (must pay) and then try that method.
As for the donation, i wouldn't mind geeting a Prophet as they are related to the Wizard and in case it could be recovered i could try to make a similar tool to WST: the Prophet Service Tool

I have a similar problem, i (thought) i had CID unlocked my wizard, followed all the instructions, about reflashing the rom's went to 1.05 the to 2.26 & then IPL & SPL to 3.08 in an attempt to flash WM6..
all went well until the last step & it got to 99% of flashing WM6 & came up with a communication error (battery is fully charged!)
Now im stuck in bootloader, & can't re flash any other roms, tried the wizard with love & 1.05 again ...noting doing... have i made a complete brick ??
HELP!!!!!!!
edit, just tried with the O2 offical upgrade...it started to load on but came up with Error 296 Upgrade Only, the NBF file could not be used...

TRY THIS .... I just recovered from a similar stuck in BootLoader issue.
Steps to recovery:
1. Fully charge your phone (VIA Power Cord ... NOT USB)
2. Get the phone to bootloader (three color mode) - by soft resetting and holding the camera button at the same time
2. Connect it to the computer (Windows XP) with a USB cable
3. You will notice "USB" written in a lower corner of the phone (this means it is connected)
4. Download your providers ROM (The "real" rom provided by Cingular/ATT). You can get the one for the 8125 from HTCAmerica here: http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8125/software-downloads.html
5. Stop ActiveSync (from Task Manager)
6. Run the program downloaded in step 4. This will reflash your phone with the ROM. This seems to be the ONLY WAY possible to reload a ROM from BootLoader.

What is the make/model of your phone?
A nbf file is the file that gets flashed onto the phone (nk.nbf)

it was an xda mini s....i tried loading WM6 & came unstuck.....

I believe,as u have mentioned in ur earlier post that u have upgraded to ipl/spl 3.08,therefore all the official roms r not flashing.Well its not necessary to upgrade to ipl/spl 3.08 to go for wm6.All the experts & cooks in all their threads have mentioned to upgrade to ipl/spl 2.26 to have a stable/strong working plateform, so now I wud suggest u to plz try to flash Buttons's rom 1.05 and get back to ipl/spl 1.05 than onward upgrade to ipl/spl 2.26 by flashing t_mobile 2.26.
If u r able to get back to ipl/spl 1.05,than again use lokiwiz to confirm CID unlock,hope this works out. U can also use the latest WST tool by mestrini to check the status of ur wizzard as if its cid locked or unlocked.it can also be used to unlock cid,goodluck

I just want to add that you MUST stop at 2.xx bootloader when downgrading from 3.08 to 1.xx, otherwise you might end up with a 'locked' SPL in 3.08

Help on Cingular 8125

I have bought this old phone coz it costs less than other cellphones with Wi-fi. What I really need is to install or have Voip/sip in it. But browsing and searching for answers on how to put voip in it made me stumble on this forum
i've been reading these past few days and as I read on, I am learning something and also being more confused for all the terms and other stuffs.

Again, I only need to have voip/sip working so I can call my family in the PHilippines and Canada for free. But I think the ways to have it are so far from now so I would appreciate a lot of help you can give me.

G3's are not that easy to get 'Bricked',its only if you flash G4 ipl/spl to a G3 phone,then there are bright chances of getting it bricked.
Secondly,all wizard phones are build by HTC with same hareware and features,regardless of vendors and cellular networks,it maybe cingular 8125,T-mobile MDA,Qtek 9100 or O2 Mini S,they all are of same build,hardware and features manufactured by HTC.You can flash any of the Roms mentioned but I wud prefer the AT&T 8125 Official WM5 Rom.The rom is the OS of the phone,it doesn't matter which local carrier you are using,its the sim of the carrier which is in use.You can easily flash a T-mobile rom on a At&TT phone or vice versa.Only the GPRS and other network settings differ from carrier to carrier.

However, before you start flashing, consider the following:
1. Is your device a G3 or G4 Wizard? If it's G4, Follow the G4 portion of the tutorial. If you follow the G3 tutorial you will effectively BRICK your phone. I'll tell you how to tell the difference between G3 and G4 below. ****my phone is G3 (as per your previous message)
2. Did you get your phone through a carrier (or is it carrier branded)? i.e. does your phone say T-Mobile or Cingular, or O2, or anything that identifies it as having come from a cell phone company? If yes, it's probably locked. As you now know, a SIM lock is different from a CID lock. We'll need to CID unlock your phone in order to flash WM6. ***** i bought it from ebay and right now, I am using SIM from a local network here so I guess it is SIM unlocked. So that means I only need to CID unlock?
3. Get the right IPL/SPL version. Most ROMs require BOTH IPL and SPL to be 2.xx. If you're at 1.xx, you need to take an additional step of flashing an official ROM. v(G3 Only step) ****my IPL/SPL is 2.25 and I need to use AT&T G3...zip, right?
4. Pick a ROM and flash it! **** AT&T or is this the WM6?
5. Enjoy your new functionality! **** I hope so.
6. Do additional stuff (install applications, change splash screens, and anything else you ask me to write about) *** I need the SIP/VOIP so my VOipcheap would work
1. Phone version (aka "Which guide do I follow if I don't want to have a brick?").....
If your IPL/SPL numbers are in the form X.xx (i.e 2.26, 1.08, etc.) you have a G3
........
2. Unlocking (CID and SIM) G3 and G4 Tutorials.
G3 ONLY!
(Credit to Dr. Puttingham for the walkthough which I used as a basis for this portion of the tutorial.)
..... Also, make sure that your phone is nearly fully charged(at least 75%), otherwise things may go loopy.***I will.
1. Download the Button ROM to your computer **** ok
2. Attach your Wizard to your computer using the USB cable. For the love of G-d, do NOT do this over bluetooth or IR. It will most likely not work, but if it does, all hell will break loose.
3. If you have ActiveSync, (****I dont. So if I download this ActiceSync, by default, there is no parnertship, right?) make sure there are no active partnerships with your device. With your device NOT plugged in, go into ActiveSync file->delete mobile device. Once you plug the device back in, cancel synchronization. Your wizard should be showing up in ActiveSync as Guest.
4. With your device connected to your computer as Guest, run the file that your downloaded. (****The Button ROM???) It's pretty much self-explanatory. Agree to everything, and let it do it's thing. It is downgrading your IPL to 1.05. You can only unlock your phone if the IPL is 1.xx, you can't do it if your IPL is 2.xx. (<- ****what do you mean by this? coz i have 2.25) Always have lots of patience. The 10 minutes to complete statement is a guide, if your computer is running at a 90% CPU load with 99% of your RAM full (which it shouldn't), expect this to take a lot longer. If it so happens that you get an error at 99%, try The Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102.exe.
5. Once the flash is done and your Wizard is rebooted, it will display an IPL of 1.xx and an SPL of 2.xx.
6. Download Lokiwiz 0.2b.
7. Use Winzip or Winrar to extract the files to any folder on your computer(it is recommended you create a folder specifically for lokiwiz), DO NOT JUST COPY THEM! There is a directory structure inside the zip file, and this will not work if that directory structure is not maintained. This had driven me nuts the first time I did it, it was giving me all kinds of "file not found" errors. ***ok?
8. Copy enablerapi.cab from your PC to anywhere on your Wizard using ActiveSync. Remember not to create a partnership (make sure you're still connected as a Guest).
9. Go to your Wizard (***while it is connected to my computer???) and use the File Explorer to find the file you just copied. Click on it and install it to the main memory ("Device", not extended memory).
10. Back on your PC, open the folder you just created when you extracted Lokiwiz and click lokiwiz.bat. Another option if you feel comfortable is to extract lokiwiz 0.2b to your C Drive and then open up command prompt type in "cd C:" without the quotes. This should take you to your C:\ drive. Type lokiwiz.bat.
11. You will see the following:
U. Unlock
L. Lock
C. CID Unlock (SuperCID)
Q. Quit
Unlock refers to SIM Unlock and CID unlock refers to...well. If you still don't know the difference, go back and read from the beginning.
1. Press U on your computer keyboard. lokiwiz will SIM unlock your phone and REBOOT. If it doesn't reboot, you did something wrong. Try again. The procedure may take a few minutes to complete, so if your Wizard doesn't reboot right away, don't freak out. ***do i have to do this?
2. Rerun the lokiwiz.bat file, this time pressing C. Wait for the Wizard to reboot.
3. While rebooting, keep an eye on the IPL/SPL numbers. If the IPL is 1.05, good. If they are both still 2.xx, rerun the button ROM (or the other ROM that worked for you). You won't need to re-unlock the device.It is recommended that you make sure you sucessfully flashed the button rom(or whatever rom worked for you) and your IPL is 1.05 before you SIM and CID unlock your device.
4. You have 2 options now. Once you have successfully CID unlocked your phone, you can either re-flash the Button ROM or whichever ROM you used to obtain matching 1.05 IPL/SPL(NOT REQUIRED) or continue to the next step which is to continue with the upgrade and upgrade back to IPL/SPL version 2.xx (yes, you need to downgrade then upgrade back...it's just what you have to do however time-wasteful it may seem). Everyone seems to like the T-mobile Official WM5 ROM (****I need to use the AT&T Official, right?) , so what the heck, I think you'll like it too. Flash it the same way you flashed the Button ROM (double click and go through the installation). Remember to have patience! Also, You should save the T-Mobile .exe file since you will need to flash back to that first every time you want to switch ROMs (again, no matter how time wasteful it seems, trust me, do it).
5. OPTIONAL STEP:: Once you have successfully CID unlocked your G3 device and have the T-Mobile Official WM5 ROM back on your device, you now have the option to upgrade to IPL/SPL 3.08. Upgrading to IPL/SPL 3.08 is just like flashing a tiny little ROM It will not change the functionality of the device whatsoever but will speed up the boot sequence a little. Any little bit helps right? You can Find the download link for IPL/SPL 3.08 HERE Just download the .rar file EXTRACT it to its own folder. <!-- DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THESE FILES TO ANOTHER FOLDER. There is a definite file structure that will be ruined if you copy and paste and it will not work. --> Run the Rom Update Utility (****how?) and again, follow the simple self explanatory steps to complete the upgrade and then your device will reboot itself. Keep an eye on the IPL/SPL when the device is rebooting. It should now be 3.08 for both and your device should now boot more quickly.
WM6 ROMs
Pick a WM6 ROM and flash it. Now that you have a good T-Mobile WM5 ROM with IPL/SPL at 2.26 (if one of them is not at 2.26, RE-FLASH IT!) or IPL/SPL 3.08, you're ready to install a WM6 ROM. This is where I have to step back. Due to forum politics, I cannot go ahead and suggest a ROM (neither can anyone else, and if you ask this on the forums, you will get flamed and your topic will be locked). Besides, the minute I suggest a ROM on this page, a better one will come out. All I can tell you is if you're after all the nice touch stuff (of course you are!), look at the ROMs that boast TouchFlo (TNT and ?BlackDiamond are just two examples). Go to the forum, under Wizard Mobile 6 (***I have to make sure that its AT&T, right?) and take your pick. It is like being a little kid in a candy store, the variety is so immense. The only advice I could give you from personal experience, is that ROMs with newer builds(higher build numbers) tend to have more bugs than the older builds(obviously, the builds that have lower numbers) tend to be more stable with less bugs. THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR ALL ROMS!! Some ROMs with newer builds are VERY stable with only minor bugs if any but I am not going to get into that. I would also suggest reading some of the discussion regarding the author's ROM to see what bugs there are (hint: all ROMs have bugs, the question is how many and what can you live with. A relatively minor bug for me may be a show-stopper for you). You flash this ROM the exact same way you flashed the button ROM and the T-Mobile ROM. Configure it to your liking and enjoy!

Anyway ! just to a cut short,
1. WinXP is highly recommended for flashing and upgrading,with winvista,there are many problems.so I advise you to consider winXP.
2. ActiveSync 4.5 will not work on winVista,it only works on winXP,for Vista you'll have to download Windows Mobile Device (WMD).
3. YES ! its a G3 device(IPL/SPL 2.25),If its SIM unlocked,it might be CID unlocked too,its not essential,but maybe,as you bought a used phone from ebay.To verify if its CID unlocked,download the WST tool and run the "CID Action' button,it'll verify the CID locked/unlocked status of the phone.
4.If its CID unlocked,there's no need to downgrade by flashing 'Button's Rom 1.05 to 1.xx to unlock with lokiwiz02b,but if isn't cid unlocked,you'll have to downgrade it to ipl/spl 1.xx.
5. YES ! if its cid unlocked,you need ipl/spl 2.xx to upgrade to any wm6 rom,yes,you can use the official stock rom of at&tt,but T-mobile 2.26 has proved to be the most stable 2.xx rom and is highly recommended to upgrade to 2.xx for upgrade to wm6 as a good base.

Im lost! I cant find a PC with WinXP that I can use
I think I will have to do it with Vista. And of course, I need to start all over again from the start on reading and learning.
Is this the right post for me? including the links to the stuffs I need to download? (coz I notice there's not much to download and not much stuffs like the button rom and the At&T rom and others).
I mean, considering that I have a G4 with IPL/SPL 2.25.
Please help.

well,as you say it has 2.25 then its a G3,but if its got ipl/spl 2.25.0001 thenits a G4,why don't you download and WST tool and get the device info,it'll certify which is your phone a G3 or G4,ok

After I go through the ROM update
The ROM update seems to work fine installs 100% the 8125 then reboots the Splash screen comes up with the beer bottle, but it HANGS on this Screen and Does not do anything should i leave it longer.
ive been working with other ROMS and now this one for the last week, and It seems like its just hanging at this Screen.
also my active sync isnt really regonizing the 8125, under explorer it shows mobile device, and the computer beeps when i plug it in but sync doesnt seem to regonize it...
it has in the past but not while loading this button rom coul that have somethign to do with it?

Do a Soft Reset or Hard reset,it'll load up fine,if not,then reflash the button's Rom again.

hi there! I am trying to follow the steps (vista) but cant get to bootloader mode.
which is the side ok button? and which hole should i put my stylus (coz the holes at the bottom are only the earphone, usb and the one that you can put dangle or something)?
also, what does it really look like when its in the bootloader mode?

Got the bootloader! I pressed the hole on the right side with the stylus and when the screen is blank, I pressed and hold camera button and there you go....the bootloader with that colorful screen.
I followed the steps and now the WMDC can see my phone.
Now what?
- need to upgrade to wm6, right? (although, i thought that the steps i followed would make my phone wm6 already)
- then, need to get the voip/sip

u are not going to belive but my phone is working now........... i fix the from cingular to tmobile in the minute............ IT WORKSSSSSSSSSSSS i started with the beer bottle. then i press soft reset button on the boot screen i press camera button and then i got three color screen .after that i plug my USB cord and computer did a beep so my usb was conected..
i went and download the tmobile flash and then unziped on my desktop in the new folder.
did restart on my computer and then run the lockwiz ....... i did update my sistem.. when is booting it say cingular but im using my tmobile sim card..........

Relax,try a Soft Reset or Hard reset,if it works,fine,if not get into bootloaders and flash the Button's Rom again.

YOU SHOULD SEE TRI-COLOR SCREEN displaying spl 77.7
This SPL is allowing you to flash latest radio
or to Flash any rom usin sspl 77.7
Run the update from the PC
VERY IMPORTANT
i found a way to installl hardspl
1. unplug phone from usb
2. take out the battery/put it back
3. enter bootloader (press camera+power)
4. check for spl if it sais 2.05 you can go further if not read the fisrt guide
5. enter in windows
6. extract and copy to device root http://rapidshare.com/files/138396463/breeze_HARDSPL.rar.html
7. copy to storage card root BREEIMG.NBH
8. it should say SPL-1.01
9. follow onscreen instruction for the update
10.enter in windows and delete BREEIMG.NBH from card
11.enter bootloader (press camera+power)
12.it should say spl 7.77
13.be happy now you have hardspl and you can flash any rom (without sspl)

my IPL is 0.90 (do i need to update this?)
SPL is 2.05 (so i need to use the SPL>1.09)
radio is 1.06.00.10 (do i need to update this?)
RIL is 2.002
do i need to update anything before i try your WM6.1? which is the latest versions (IPL,Radio) you would recommend and can you please provide the links too. also, will the forward facing video call camera work with your ROM?
from wiki, it looks like there is the Radio:1.38.00.10 Protocol:32.71.7020.12H RIL:2.002 SPL:1.10.0000 ROM, and other older Radio ROMs but with newer SPL. so in order to update my radio, do i need to flash the entire ROM into my phone, or can i just use a Radio ONLY rom updater?
Please bear with me, because i really do not want to brick my phone.

im going to flash to WWE now with this version : HTC MUI BREE100 1.34.251.1 1.38.00.10 32.71.7020.12H 15673.3.3.1 3.3.1 2.002 1.10.0000 , then update to your WM6.1.

OK, i've done all the steps you provided in post no.1 (great instructions by the way). problem, when i run SSPL on the root of the device, the screen close blank and nothing happens even though im still pressing the camera+power button. what should i do now?

Update : Now i got it. i had to run the SPL link, not the SSPL.exe as written in the first post. must be a typo.
Update2 : Success!! flashed to WWE. now proceeding to your WM6.1!!

I have I-Mate SPJas. I have tried several unlock tools including HTC Unlock toll, resgistry edit, SDA Unlock....
My original SPL version was 2.05 and after I ran SPL file I had IPL=SPL by des and SPL=7......
I have also applied other methods and my phones seems to be application unlock. But when I try to upload a new rom the phone goes to blank. I could never prevent this condition.
Is there a way to update Imate SPJas to Win 6.1? Which ROM works?

My original SPL version was 2.05 and after I ran SPL file I had IPL=SPL by des and SPL=7......
I have also applied other methods and my phones seems to be application unlock. But when I try to upload a new rom the phone goes to blank. I could never prevent this condition.
Is there a way to update Imate SPJas to Win 6.1? Which ROM works?

I have gone through all of the steps of ROM update.
When the rom update utility prepare for installing, after I press "ENTER" the device closes immediately and the connection with ActiveSync stops.
In three color screen I see:
IPL SSPL by des
SPL : 1.01
Enter
When I go through root directory and enter to SSPL.exe, the phone again shut down and I have to removE/install battery to start the phone.
Please help!!

Hi, I had the same issue. Try pressing camera & off' buttons AND Enter all together.

rom update
1- I have updated the current rom to origininal config by manufacturer's original ROM.
2- I applied HTC unlock tool..
3- My first attempt to update rom gave #262 error. Second attempt was succesful.

there are 5 keys unless you have the official security configuration manager
that is setting the other keys for you

i found a way to flash hardspl to breeze
this will allow to flash any rom from any cid so that you will not break devices due to wrong cid

is there anyway to hard spl without going into windows? my device is stuck at windows 2nd boot screen (windows mobile 5 logo)

what is your current cid?

i have a dopod 595 device, the breeze with forward facing video call camera, so it's a breeze 160. it's a Qtek_Z12 device and the region is WWE.
before you posted the new herm radio, i successfully updated to your beta WM6.1 using your unlocking SSPL guide. i never upgraded the SPL though. the original phone's IPL and SPL are IPL0.9 and SPL2.05.
so what i did was first to upgrade to the latest WWE 1.38 using your unlocking/SSPL guide, then upgrade to your WM6.1 beta. everything worked fine. i do notice that only the IPL has been upgraded, and the SPL remains 2.05. so i ignored it.
it was when you posted the new herm radio upgrade i then decided to update my SPL as well. so as per your instructions in the unlocking guide, i first unlock the phone (WM6.1), perform the SPL1.09 update. it was successful. phone booted up just fine. then i run the official WWE 1.38 (the same one i used before upgrading to WM6.1 beta). and this time i did not run the DES soft SPL ( i must have forgotten and thought the phone is unlocked anyway). the RUU started, and the flashing failed at 1% giving an invalid vendor ID error message (as expected because my phone is not superCID and i forgot to run DES SSPL). after this little incident, i canot boot my phone anymore.
so i tried to recover it using various methods. and i successfully flashed back the original WM5 WWE dopod 595 ROM by using the latest RUU from 1.38 with old WWE WM5 nbh. the flashing completed 100%, the phone reboots, and still stuck at the second boot screen. IPL has been downgraded to 0.9 and SPL remains 1.09.

you can not do anithing
your ipl does not know how to load spl1.09
send the phone to repair and flash hardspl when it returns
there are many people with your problem
till now we have found not found any solution

my phone is out of warranty, so sending for repair will cost me a lot. we'lll keep our fingers crossed and hope you guys can find a solution for us soon. thank you

i think, SPL version is very confusing. 2.05 is older than 1.09?
Would be good to have compatibility list between SPL and IPL versions to not mess and brick device.
I guess i was lucky, because i updated my breeze to resently posted HardSPL (thanks to jerpelea) and device still alive.
I found that RUUUpdateUt.exe i've used for DES SoftSPL is not working with HardSPL anymore. It cost me a bunch of my nerves (no body mentioned this fact!). Again luckily i found that stock RUU upgrade utility works fine with HardSPL (i just removed all dialogs except first for convenient use).
Well, at last, now i don't need to flash stock firmware (with radio ROM update which is extremely dangerous) every time when one of my cooked ROM refuses to work normally.

My Kjam G4 hangs on 2nd splash screen. After reading hundreds of posts over the last few days,
I am still not clear on my next step, without making phone any worse.
History.
Phone has HARD SPL.
ipl 2.21.0001
spl 2.21.olip
Used Molski wm6 rom last month or so. Flashed WizFlo 20273 v6.1.1.3 last week. Completed ok .But now hangs. Flashed wizard love and other roms via bootloader. completes ok. Still hangs on splash.
Hard rest results in "format is failed"
"r2sd all" completes ok. Pressing dial button does not start restore.
I have previous backup of different components using wst tool and also KJam official rom.
Questions:
1. With HARDSPL , is the phone CID unlocked ?
2. With the SD restore not working , does this imply phone still CID locked ?
3. Is there an official Kjam rom without ipl/spl ?
4. Hard reset is supposed to format "UA". Is it possible to flash a backup of UA (as made by wst )to the phone ?

1.With HardSPL, Nopes! phone is not actually permanently CID unlocked like G3 device,Its semi-permanent CID unlocked by flashing patched IPL/SPL,thus tricking the Bootloaders in thinking its CID unlocked,whereas,its not actually CID unlocked.A G4 device can not be permanently CID unlocked (SuperCID),its just made to trick.
2. As the phone has HardSPL,Sdcard backup through mtty r2sd all command is not possible,coz the Bootloaders are patched,not original official.To carry out sdcard method,you'll have to first remove HardSPL,flash back the original official Bootloaders(IPL/SPL),only then its possible to perform sdcard method.
3. Nopes! there's no k-jam official rom without IPL/SPL,what you can do is to extract k-jam rom and remove the Bootloaders (IPL/SPL),repack the rom and can flash it,but without official IPL/SPL.The only way to flash the official k-jam rom is to first remove HardSPL,reflash original official k-jam Bootloaders and then flash official stock rom.
4.UA back up made by WST is again only possible to flash after removal of HardSPL.
5. Wizard_love or any other official rom with IPL/SPL in it will not flash,unless HardSPL is removed,infact,it might 'Brick' the phone,so avoid flashing any rom with IPL/SPL in it.
Try to flash any custom build wm6 or wm6.1 in Bootloaders and remove,if any, Sdcard inserted in the phone before flashing a rom and remember to have a fully charged battery before flashing.
BTW, send a PM to 'mestrini' the inventer of this magical tool WST_4.2.2,may be he can advise you better on this problem of 'Format is Failed'

How do i carry out HARDSPL on the phone which cannot boot becuase i am not able to connect using the microsft Activesync. Please assist my phone is a G4 and CID locked.

If your device is a G4 try this:
1- Download Wizard Love ROM.
2- Download ROMUpdate Utility V2.5.2 .
3- Try to enter to bootloader mode. The bootloader can be entered by holding the "Camera" button while resetting.
4- Copy the Wizard Love ROM's nk.'nbf' file to the ROMUpdate Utility V2.5.2 .
5- Run the 'romupdateutility.exe' and then follow the instructions of the application.
