Hi all,
I have made a new Extended ROM which, like Pug's ROM improves the camera and doesn't install the crappy o2 active, but includes some of the more useful stuff, such as the battery meter.
If anyone wants this ROM I am happy to share, just let me know!
Bug fixes:
Camera quality
Bluetooth "License expired" issue (replacement bttrayce.exe requires manual copy to windows dir)
Additional Programs:
CabInstl
PHM PPC Powertoys
PHM Regedit
PHM device manager
Total Commander
PocketNav (need to manually copy .exe and .lnk files)
ScaryBear Check notifications
SPB GPRS monitor
QuickCleanUp (deletes old calendar entries)
Conversions (need to manually copy .exe and .lnk files)
HTC Zip utility
TCPMP
Improved startup screen (see attached pic )......

Hi,
I'm interested in this rom with o2 bat info etc.. for my 2i
Can you please tell me where i can get it from
many thanks.
I'm interested also. Please upload your rom so we can all have a play with it
I've never had an problem with the 'Bluetooth license expired' issue... I've never even had it :X Something I'm missing here?
I upgraded my XDA IIi this weekend and I had the message about Bluetooth license expired and it stopped Blue tooth working.. I just switched it back on again and it came back - but I've not tested it on my hands free yet.
How do we know whether the camera should be fixed or not?
In fact, my camera is working properly but I want to know what will happen after we fix it? I think it will enhance the camera quality.
Thanks in advance,
Latest rom..
I'd be very interested too...how can I try it?
Well, I had to reflash my Alpine the other weekend as it hard reset on me, so I decided to use one of the ROMs which didn't have the O2 Camera Patch in it.
After using the camera, I can tell you that the quality is a bit better, but it's nothing to shout about (for e.g., if you're expecting the camera to look as good as the camera quality on the k750i, you'll be VERY disappointed ) - don't get me wrong, the quality is better (I just took some more test shots to see how it performs in low light, in my bedroom, and they do look better than before, when I was using the old ROM with the 'update' - but don't bother hard resetting and reinstalling the ROM from scratch, and then restoring all your old settings, just for the camera patch problem, it's not worth it.

Does anyone have a freeware Registry Editor?
I tried downloading the recommend ones from freewareppc.com but neither of the best two are linked any more; PHM Registry Editor v0.70
and BitsInside RegEdit v1.2
Also is there a good theme switcher that you can preview the file?
TIA.
I've installed on my WM5 BA the PHM Reg Editor, works fine... (also with WM2003SE)
Try
http://www.ghisler.com/ce.htm
It's free and has other features.
or TRE registry editor also freeware.
p.s. the one uppermost is not always the best, and look at the version and time, 2002 version 0.70 now it is 2.3 or later
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/tre.shtml
Thanks for the answers.
I went to the TRE site but that show it is a Windows CE editor. Will this work on Windows Mobile 2003SE?
Dave
I'm looking at the next alternative of hard resetting my VARIO to see if it will solve my previous message not showing up problem but just wondering which of these lines in the config.sys of the extended rom can be deleted and saved, then performing the hard reset to a clean system.
this is the stock config of the Vario at the moment... anyone out there can help guide me which can be safely removed?

Hope this helps. I got sick of all the T-Mob crap particularly the boot screen and the space taken up everywhere so I first fully unlocked it with the tools the nice people put up here and then used K-Jam rom which also required some tweaking but its lots better, faster and uses less space and has WIFI G instead of B.
Then used Qtek Rom, I had to flash a new rom as I knackered the registry messing about with settings. The Qtek rom I used off the file storage on this site, did not have all the stuff that needed deleting like antivirus and skype just one extended rom file which did the clearvue pdf which I don't need. Its gor wireless G and is a bit less space hungry than the I-mate one and doesnt even have any extra .tsk screens to take up space. Well worth doing.
Oh yeah and the device can take a bit of further tweaking, for example I removed some startup items and got rid of that tray down the bottom of the home screen, lost the std. voice recog stuff and a few other bits and bobs. I used Binarys process programme and a registry tweaker and mamaged to get the lag when opening menus and progs down to almost instant, not far off my old Magician.
hey hey!!
thanks for the comprehensive breakdown...
i'm sure lots of others out there would benefit from it!
BTW, i thought if we were to put in the qtek rom, isn't it downgrading? i think i'd wait for the new qtek rom to be released before i flash the rom..
cheers and thanks again mate!

Its not downgrading, the T-Mob Rom is the slowest and has the most junk out of T-Mob, Qtek and K-Jam.
oh..
shucks... no wonder its running so slowly...
maybe i'd check the FTP server and have a think about changing to qtek..
are the Qtek ROM in the FTP site the ROM that already have the skype and the antivirus removed?
copy and paste into the extended rom drive, hard reset and i'd be laughing??!
sorry i'm just still new to this hence asking the newbie questions.. pardon my ignorance..
thanks mate for your replies..
Monkey, I'm using the Qtek rom aswell.
But how did you reconfigure your internet, email, mms, etc settings to work with T-Mobile again?
I was forced to install several cabs from the T-Mobiel Extended_Rom again, but these added some of problems I had with the T-Mobile rom again...
monkeyphonix,
Do you have a MDA Vario T-Mobile?
Do you change OS ROM from this: Qtek_9100_RUU_Prodigy_10107105_Qtek_WWE_ship.exe ?
I have one and don't like T-Mobile Skin!
Plus, this T-Mobile ROM have only 44,08MB RAM total and others ROMs have about 50MB RAM...
I want change my ROM but I think This Qtek ROM is older than mine (29/09/05), and maybe have more bugs, not?
I tried doenload iMate ROM ar Clubimate, but my Imei is T-mobile and can't?
Tell me please what is your ROM version and date and if have no problems.
Thanks
Ok, I have a Vario, with the T-Mobile badges removed (good start).
I started off by putting a K-JAM Rom on, the latest one (date wise) in WWE:
K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110_ship.exe
From here...
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/
Just clicky
Then I was doing some hacks and stuff with registry and extended ROM and managed to mess my device up, every so often a variety of .exe files came up and said missing and the phone kept crashing. But it was fine till I did the stunt work on it.
Then I put the QTEK ROM on it, its called
Qtek_9100_RUU_Prodigy_10107105_Qtek_WWE_ship.exe
it was on the FTP of this site.
Ok the K-JAM Rom runs better than the T-MOB one, it has wireless G rather than B and once you remove the antivirus extended ROM file and the SKYPE extended ROM file and do the usual tweaks its about 15% quicker than the T-MOB I'd estimate and I think more stable. Once you got the Extended ROM how you want it, you have about 5-6mb more space all in all of normal memory.
The QTEK ROM off the FTP here, did not have Skype or Antivirus. Also unlike the I-Mate ROM there was no themes you can't delete except the 2 std ones. Mines got about 43mb and 32mb respectively whilst running with no apps open, and I use the Extended ROM_2 which is 'unlocked' for apps like Voice Command and GPRS monitor which don't like the storage card.
It keeps the normal storage channels clean and mean using the Extended ROM_2.
The Qtek extended ROM I deleted all the apps from, one is Clearvue PDF Which eats a bit of space, so all I did was completely empty it and install three T-MOB .CAB files into my documents. These were the GPRS settings, the Disconnect button .CAB and one I think does MMS, 'cept MMS don't work. Nevermind. With this setup I'd say the QTEK fully tweaked is a little bit quicker then K-JAM. Maybe I'm imagining it.
Other tweaks on my QTEK rom setup are...
Unlocked Extended ROM using the prog here (thanks Buzz or whoever made it)
Got rid of Cyberon Voice Dialler crap (thanks BeyondtheTech)
Got rid of the favourites in the IE I don't need.
Got rid of some stuff from startup like the little tray at bottom of screen, don't use this at all.
Setup IE Cache to MEM card.
Setup photos and email attachments to MEM card.
Cleared all of the Extended_ROM out left me with 9.8mb space for apps like Voice Dial.
Use apps like T-MAN or MagicButton with small footprints (not mem hungry) to shut down apps that otherwise munch space.
Don't install clearvue, put Adobe on your MEM card instead.
There are other things to 'Hot Rod' your Wizard to get every ounce of speed out if it, but I can't remember them all. Most I got off here.
Hello monkeyphonix,
I already flash Qtel ROM too! Is great... more 6MB RAM!
Do you like more MS voice command instead Cyberon voice dialler? I don't know MS voice... use Cyberon and I like; maybe I will take a look at MS voice! Its free?
I erase Ext_ROM2 too, but copy files... What is "Disconnect button .CAB"?
To use ext_ROM2 you unlock it, install app and then hide it again? If not hide my SD is now Men card2... and many app store data at extROM2... have you that problem?
Now memory... after install some app like SPB pocket plus (much RAM!), 1-calc, resco file explorer, TCPMP, Tomtom5, wifiFofum, taptext, sunnysoft bk manager and phoneAlarm I have about 29MB RAM free (after a Soft reset). How I have 32MB?
Thanks and Best Regards
I did not hide Extended Rom once its unlocked/revealed, otherwise you don't have option of using it for storage.
The .CAB file is
Signed_DiscoButton8.sa.CAB
Its a .cab file that gives you a button to disconnect GPRS from the top toolbar gprs bubble. You don't need it but its useful.
I use MS Voicedialler, although sometimes it doesn't want to know and won't recognise anything.
You get more mem back after soft reset yes, about 4-6 mb depending on how long your deviec has been since last reset etc etc. You can use the Memaid cleaner to make a little more space with soft reset.
Hi,
But if you have ExtROM2 visible your SD is not default Card Storage... some app have problems to save data on SD... for ex. camera will save fotos at ExtROM2 instead SD! You not have this problem?
I think Memmaid at WM5 don't save any space... Do you have 32MB free with many app installed?
Thanks
I`m still a newbie at this so can someone show me how to input the registry keys?
Try to find PHM Registry Editor or Resco Explorer (which has registry edtior built-in)
A google search will lead you to either one of them
i found phm, but how to insert the info
please guide me step by step please
What register setting are you trying to modify?
{Hack for 802.11g is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS: dot11SupportedRateMaskG=8}
I would like to add that.
this hack will not work on blueangel, because the hardware is not capable for g speeds, as far as i know it only works on wizard
I was looking for a hack for Helmi BA WM2k5 AKU 2.6 which would allow me to use the WIFI correctly on my PDA2k.
Since i have upgraded to WM5, i always had a problem with my WIFI, it was taking way too long to load a page.
Is there some hack for this problem that anyone would know of?
i'm newbie too. My BA come from Ebay. Truly, the wifi is working with 802.11g. Except Skype, after 1minute of voice chat, the connect is hang off. No problem with Internet.
The Rom version is : 1.42.01 GER
Date: 09/05/05
Radio version: 1.13.00
ExtRom: 1.42.116 GER
Anyone can explain it?
Sorry about my bad English.
This is a beta rom so it will contain a lots of bugs!
This is a clean rom and not contain any extra apps
What's in it ?

EDIT MDAIIIUser
I have moved the files to a safe place (and changed the links)
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/BA_WM5/Shipped_Extracted_Updates/xplode
I Will test now!
Installed and running without major problems, good for testing. I have not added any cabs as off yet. Great work xplode.
AKU 3.5
wow...
another new rom..
already have downloaded the files..
will try later..
great work xplode!!!! =)
Must we apply the cabs in the Fixes folder in the FTP?
Do you know how to make convertion from your rom to Himalaya?
I v flashed but stoped on 4 colors screen.
I tried again, it's ok now.
I've just updated to this ROM from Helmi AKU3.2 v1.3.2 and very impressive. I like the sounds.
Have tested the WLAN. I noticed that under "Wireless Lan", the signal strength bar isn't working. It is blank. The default taskbar signal strength works though.
Will be trying the Bluetooth with my Holux236 GPS after this.
*edit* - Now I can't seem to turn my WIFI on. Will investigate if it is caused by the cabs I installed from the Cabs folder on Ftp.
WLAN... solved.
Ok, on first time device on, to turn on WIFI, you need to go to Wireless LAN to turn on WIFI first. After that, you can start using CommManager to control WIFI on/off.
If you leave WIFI on during soft reset, your wifi will be on after soft reset and you can still use CommManager to control WIFI on/off.
But, if you leave WIFI off during soft reset, then you can't turn WIFI on anymore whether via Wireless LAN switch or CommManager switch regardless how many soft resets.
Anyone can confirm this? Or rather provide a solution? Did I miss out something?
*edit* - Nevermind.. haha. It is working now somehow but my device is on fresh hard reset.
I can't seem to get Wireless Stereo/A2DP to work. I've checked the obvious entries in the registry and the dll files, no joy.
cant wait to test
downloading....thank you very much.
Has anyone managed to make Smart Dial v2.2 work?
guys when i double click the file and after it flashes , do i need to press all three buttons like before and do the 3 options thingy?
or just flash and will reset automatically.

Yeah, thats right man. Its the right trick to get WIFI worked without having to SR the device. My experience told me that It would take 2 times turning on WIFI on the Wireless Lan settings, then go ahead to the CommManager. It will definitely work, at least in my situation.
I've noticed two thingys,
1. When connected to GPRS the little 'G' doesn't show up.
2. What happened to the newer version media player that was in AKU 3.3
There was no newer version of WM it was skin which have problems with video playback, the picture was shifted
WLAN - as you all know since we first seen Comm manager WLAN is turning on by Wireless Manager and then you can control it trough Comm Manager
About A2DP i have not compatible headset to test it i have mono one
There is no need to install fixes for this rom, you can try only those which removes comm manager icon and screen rotate icon from tray
I've installed quite anumber of basic apps:
SBSH Ilauncher
Pocket Informant
Pocket Music (Freeversion)
PhoneAlarm
Garmin Que
GPSGate
SPB Diary
Resco File Explorer
TCPMP
They all work fine up to now. The only thing that doesnt work is Smart Dialing which i miss so much. Out of curiousity, how do you guys usually do away without Smart Dial? I feel that opening the Contacts page is time consuming and inefficient. Not suitable for driving. Any easier way?
Hallo all,
I am in demand of a WORKING mp3 trimmer for my TyTN II, WM6.1. I tried this s**t from Diamond which is just installing the icon.
Any links?
Juergen
I'm using this and working fine.
If you want it without the pink around buttons
Thanks for the cabs anyway.
Non of them worked so far. After installing it shows the icon under programs and thats it. I tried to install the cab onto SD card and on device itself.
Juergen
NB. Rename MP3Trimmer.exe.0409.mui to MP3Trimmer.exe.0407.mui did the trick!
