phone have to s reset twice after battery removal? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi all
I am new to here and I just followed all the instructions to upgrade my blue angel to WM5 and everything seems to works fine. Except after I removed the battery and put it back on, then I start the device up, it will show R none G none instead of the R verson. Then after the device is booted the phone function will not work. Then I have to s reset to make it work. I am wondering if it is normal or is there a problem during upgrading? Thanks a lot for everyone's help!

it installed ok then after the count down to intalling the extended rom it start installing stuff then it restarts.... that was the end of my 9100 i tried to turn it back on so many times...
is there any way to fix this...
please some one respond
*sigh*
Which rom do you have in the first place.
Gotta, know more info to know if you really did brick your phone.
RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
It looks like you flashed the wrong Rom!
Do you have a G3 (IPL/SPL 1.xx or 2.xx) or a G4 (IPL/SPL 1.xx.001 or 2.xx.001) Wizard?
If you flashed a G3 Rom into a G4 Wizard or the other way around you bricked your Wizard.
Please provide me with as much info as you possibly can about your Wizard.
Regards,
Molski
i have the g4 i think with the 2.xx.001
oh boy....so is there a way to fix it?
tell me what u need to know
I flashed my G3 phone with the wwe rom yesterday. After the flash the phone booted fine, then installed some software and my contacts, did a soft reset and bam, phone would not boot. Every time it would freeze at the post screen. I tried about 30 times, then i did a hard reset with the top two side buttons and the soft re-set. The phone then booted and has been working fine since then.
just my experience

Hello,
What is the worse thing that can happen during a upgrade ? Yes a powerfailure and it happend to me !!!
The result: Nothing works anymore. When I press the power button on my QTek9090, nothing happens !!! When I put it in the cradle only the red led turns on and active sync says: no device connected even if I try manually.
Anyone Any solution or can I trow my PDA in the bin ?!?

Don't worry. I used a GSM rom on my CDMA phone, then nothing worked. Even all type of reset, they did not work. Just find out a correct ROM to reflash it, then should be fine. Now my phone has 90% of function recovery

I suggest you to take out the battery out for quite sometime, let the backup battery die. Power it up later on and follow flashing procedure again.
It is always suggested to use Laptop for upgrading as they dont get affected by power shutdown for short time.
Hello Folks,
I tried all suggested til now. I took out the battery for more than a week but the problem is (and was) that I couldn't get a connection anymore with the Qtek thru activesync 4.5.0
The device isn't seen by the computer. Not even when I say activsync to connect to a device.
Still open for more suggestions
qtek doesnt do anyting
if your qtek doesnt doe anything any more try giting it in to bootloader mode and the try to reflash it if you cant get in to bootloader mode your device is nearly finished and you cant do anything more with it the return it to qtek and let them put a new flash chip in it
or get your hand on a new flash chip and a good manual of getting it opend and let someone who can reather good solder solder the old flash chip out of your device and let him put the new one in it and your device must be okaey after that and you can havefun with your device and the when you upgrade you qtek do it eith a laptop because laptops have an battarey that is capebale of work for 1 hour when the power is down or with a traffel battarey it can work on full loaden one for 3,5 hours

If you stuck in the 4 colored boot screen after the update ...

... and nothing more happens ...
I was trying to update the O2 XDA III GER PH20B1 - no camera model - from 2003SE to WM6.1.
I did repart the EXT ROM with 128kb and then started the update procedure. The updating ran smoothly with no errors.
Then I took the XDA out of the craddle and performed a soft reset with the stick. All I got was the 4 colored screen, saying R 1.10.0 in the bottom right corner. Nothing more. No other version numbers. I have tried several ROMs but never got out of the 4 colored screen.
After spending 2 days + nights with the XDA, I found a thread here with a radio 1.12 upgrade, which I tried. I ran it with the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe utility and believe it or not IT FIXED THE NO BOOT PROBLEM !!
So, if your device does not boot after the upgrade, try to install e.g. the radio version 1.12. Maybe the R 1.15 works as well, but I did not tried it yet.
Hope, that this might help somebody to save time!
you could always "hard reset" with the option No/Yes/Yes every after flashing. this never fails.

Unfortunately, the boot options did either not appear! No matter, how fast or slow I pressed the buttons and the reset switch. I have tried it 1000 times different ways. It simply failed! I had the 4 colored screen + exactly 1 entry in the bottom right ( the old radio version ) - just one line of visible text.
But after the radio upgrade - no problem. The boot options appear, hard reset is possible, the device is booting... Everything works normal. Weird ...
maybe it's because of that specific Radio Version. R 1.10.0
i started flashing at R 1.12.0

I think so. However, my XDA III is working with the updated R 1.15.0 with no problems.

Unable to Load Bootloader

I have tried hitting record + power + reset and still no dice.
I did this last Jan to my BA with few problems, put in the wm6.1
Wanting to install this one WM6.5
I also installed the Wizard Service Tool and it doesnt seem to work. It will give me info but the hard reset and other rom features don't want to work.
is there a workaround for gettin to the bootloader? Or should I take this all as a sign not to brik my phone? ;D
thanks,
chela
hi , i'm new on the forum...i think i've the same problem, on my PDA2K..
I try to install a new rom from wm2003se, using a file called "preparazione BA"( i think i've unlocked the extrom), then i normally setup with the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe..But now, when the upgrading is completed to wm6, i'm not able to load the bootoption..i can see 4 colour bands (green blue red white) but no option to boot. The rec+photo+reset seem not to work.
Could anyone help me\us??
Regards at all
Davide
after 2 hours..here are some news: my pda2k display became with the 4 color but there was writen something about R none, G none and (version onf the rom i tryed to install) then pressing rec+cam i saw for little fraction of second the menu enable kitl ,clean registry, etc.. and then suddenly the wm6 starts. After installing the OS ask me to reset..Well, it return to the same 4 color, and the only word i see is R1.11.00
I'm getting crazy...
Please big chef tony help me!
i don't know what to do now...i'm little down
Davide
...lol maybe because I dont do this often enough, but this case was solved with a little bit of RTFM!
I didnt realize I was pressing the wrong fsking button! derr!

Hello, my ppc always dispays the four band with R1.11.00 written..After a lot of reset(often unplugging battery) and photo+rec, i was rarely able to display the boot option, but here is strange what is written(attached photo n°2): R None, G None, D 1.21 Michy.. Then pushing "mail" the OS start installing wm6, then, it ask me to boot so i would be able executing extrom to install cab file.It resets and then it appears the famous four band with R1.11.00
Any idea??
I've finished mine....Aww!!
Regards
Davide
P.s. think it's important: my bootloader is v 2.08
i've solved my problem..reading on other forums, they suggest to install a rom WM5, where there was radio upgrade too..After i was able to install WM6.1 ! Now..i have to wait..and crossing my fingers!
Thank you all, if anybody has question ask me, i'll happy to help you
Bye

Nothing strange about what is in photo #2! That is the debugger screen.
Looks like you got it rolled back to the original ROM but if you decide to put the latest stable ROM 6.5 on there you're going to have to follow the Chef's directions in the above supplied link.
Good luck,
Chela
glad you found it out, you are right, there was something wrong with the radio, which is why in screenshot #1 there is only the radio listed and i think that's also why in #4 the comm icons are red, i've never seen that before, but could also be a custom skin in that rom.
brujeria is right, there is nothing wrong with the 2nd and 3rd screenshot, except for the 2nd one only showing the rom and no radio or protocol, meaning that the device was probably resetted by pulling out the battery and not pushing the reset pin with the stylus, unless that was also a radio issue.
unless you already started customizing your device you should probably think about hard resetting it once again and trying if that works, or even re-flash the rom, without flashing the radio, that way you'd know for sure, if from now on you'll always have to flash a "baked rom" (usually a term for a cooked rom, together with radio and extrom, a full flash, in this case i mean rom and radio rom, since the extrom is not really flashed anymore).
with best regards,
Chef_Tony
i've already customized...a little! Now, everytime i soft reset i read this: R 1.15.00 , G 1337.45 , D 1.21 michy.
I've no problem at moment..but i hope i won't never hard reset!
This Rom (WM6.1 included only Rom upgrade) it's nice, but i'm interested about WM6.5..anyway i think to keep this one untill a problem will come out
P.s. Like you say, now the antenna isn't red anymore..it's bright green
Thank you a lot for the support guys!

Complete and utter noob in help.

Right. I bought this phone (second hand, flashed with shifu 4.2 ROM {I have no clue what this means}) and it worked perfectly. It didn't come with a sim, so I went out and bought two. An O2 and an Orange one. The O2 one had problem's activating, so I placed in the Orange one. The phone somehow screwed up, saying iLockV2.exe is corrupt/could not be found. So, I contacted the seller, he told me to do a hard reset, which I done. The phone worked fine from there.
This afternoon, the phone froze, so I took out the battery and put it back in. The same problem occurred with the iLockV2.exe thing above; so I tried to do another hard reset, it didn't work. After that, I was stuck at the HTC screen where it says:
Code:
R 1.71.09.01
G 25.75.40.02.
D 3.34.shifu
.
I then took out the battery again, and the same thing happened. So I took out the battery once more, and when I pushed the power button it wouldn't turn on. So, I took the battery out and left it for about 4 hours, and put it back in, but now, I'm still stuck at the HTC boot screen (same code as above).
What do I do to make my phone work again?

First of all, stop taking out the battery when the phone is on because that really screws up the files. You are doing more harm than good there.
Try a series of soft resets to try and fix it. If that doesn't work, try a series of hard resets to solve the problem.
If no luck there, go into bootloader ( tri color screen ), hold in power and camera button at same time while doing a soft reset. The try flashing a stock Orange rom ( found in the wiki ) Then re-flash with shifu rom.
Not letting me hard reset, so I'm just going to reflash (Y). I hope I do this right :\
EDIT:
My computer can't read my phone when connected via usb D:

What does the phone do when you try to hard reset ?
When you put your phone into bootloader what does the screen say . When in bootloader, does the bottom of the screen change from serial to usb when you plug it in to your pc ?

The phone just soft reset's when I try to hard reset.
And yes, it does change from serial to usb when I plug it into my computer
Seem's like I was doing the hard reset wrong. Same thing is still happeneing, not getting past the part where it says:
Code:
R 1.71.09.01
G 25.75.40.02.
D 3.34.shifu
EDIT:
After 20 or so hard resets, I've moved onto the boot-loader, then it took about 5 minute's to load to the main OS. I think everything is sorted out now. Thanks
omg, this is getting really annoying now. The phone keeps on crashing at random interval's and can only be recovered by hard resetting :\
Well if it keeps happening try a different ROM just make sure you follow F.A.Q for ROM your flashing.
The thing that it's saying is corrupted is S2U2 and to me sounds like it just can't find the .lnk in Windows StartUp.
Flash OEM Rom before the new one and if you have 2GB or smaller SD Card flash using the SD Card method.

I'd go with what Philux-X says "to which is why i said F.A.Q" try and flash a stock ROM prior to flashing custom so as to clear nand.
The corruption due to stalling sounds pretty normal as the phone does not get to shut down via the usual method.
