Although I would love to move to WM5, I like what I have seen on my mates Exec, the biggest thing I would like to have from it at the moment is the better task functionality.
Which ever genius came up with the idea of only being able to have the Task alarm at 8am needs taking out for a public flogging!
It useless, the alarm goes off about 3 minutes and 1/2 a mile before I arrive at work to helpfully remind me what I have forgotten to take/do.
As such, seeing as you guys are dragging your heals modding WM5 for the Alpine, I don't suppose anyone can recommend another app I can install for now?

Is there any way to receive notifications for SMS, etc. while in standby? I've found that the phone does indeed ring, but does not give me any indication I've received a new SMS when in standby.
Also, despite the fact that the alarm is set to "repeat" notification, I only get a single ring. I don't mind using a third-party alarm program, but that seems to be a stupid issue to have.
I've read a ton of information on these forums the last couple of days and really appreciate what you guys have done-- it's made my first few days with the Tilt fantastic and this phone is now worth using (God the default Today screen has an awful interface)!
I believe PhoneAlarm (€18.50) will achieve this effect, but I use SPB Phone Suite ($19.95/€13.50) which I bought specifically because of this feature when I had a Hermes and just naturally re-installed it when I got a Kaiser.
Trial of phone suite here - http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/?en
There is a Beta of Phone Suite 1.3 available here - http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=70
Trial of Phone Alarm here - http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html
There is almost certainly more than just these two applications with this feature, but these are the only two that I have tried.
And it does seem like an annoyance. I couldn't figure out the WM6 repeat option, but came to the conclusion that the "Repeat" option was more to do with whether the music would repeat (ie you select a 2 second sound, but people ring for 30 seconds so you want it to repeat until they give up or go to voicemail) rather than notifying you of a missed whatever.
Hope that helps
I've been using my at&t tilt with tomtom flawlessly since I purchased it earlier this year. A few weeks back while visiting the cemetary (paying respect to some past relatives), I tried using tomtom to help plot down where some of the graves were located.
After waiting a few minutes for the gps to acquire a signal, it eventually got 1 bar, but showed my location about 220+ km(~150 miles) off! It would also show my travelling speed to be incredibly fast (like the speed of a plane), but would eventually slow down to drving speed and it would show me driving along a road... I never watched it long enough to see where exactly it was going (or where it was going to end!?)
Keep in mind this is in a cemetary, no where near any obstructing trees or buildings, nothing but blue sky. I tried turning the radio off (airplane mode) and back on a few times, reloading tomtom etc, but everytime it would show the same thing, starting back somewhere flying really fast...
So geez, I thought that was kinda eerie.. so later that day (and away from the cemetary) I tried it again and it seemed to work OK. But lately I've noticed this intermittent behaviour again, and the only resolution I've found was to simply do a soft-reset and everything would appear to work ok. Has anyone else had this similar issue?
Is it simply:
a) a gimped up qualcomm chipset, or
b) a bug in the OS/driver/stack, or
c) or is my phone posessed???!
I've had my X1 for almost a week now... And starting to get a better impression of the phone. Prior to buying the phone, I had read many reviews and forums and weighed my options, X1, Nokia N95, E71 (not comparable), as well as the HTC Diamond. I am on Rogers network in Canada.
I have installed:
Xperia Tweak 2
Touch Response
Vista hide Battery Gauge
Youtube for X1
Youtube Panel
SPB wireless monitor
SPB Mobile Shell
Facebook Panel
And I think thats about it.
So far I've used the phone mostly for calling, email, SMS and Facebook. I've had limited browsing experience. But found it to be somewhat slow.
After almost a week, I am comfortable using the phone and found alot of things I really like about it. But thats not to say I find it free from flaws. In fact I have found several that are now starting to be inconveniences.
At first I had the OZMAIL problem some have had, and it began as soon as I installed my SIM card into the X1 and turned it on. This was a non-hardware related issue, but stressful to say the least. Problems gone.
When using my SMS, I have difficulty getting SMS messages, as many people text me but I dont get them. As well, my phone sends old messages after soft resets, but these messages were apparently sent almost 12 hours prior. And they are re-sent messages as they were received when sent.
The signal quality is stressful, as I will be standing in a variety of places and be told my text could not be sent, or I have little to no signal at all, both for texting and emailing. Calls have been okay, with obvious inability to get signal when in some dead areas. Battery life seems to be lasting about 24-30 hours on a charge. Mind you I dont make alot of calls.
The one side of the slider, where the optical joystick is, feels loose, and slightly more play in it than the other side, and am wondering if I should address the problem sooner than later.
The things I like about the phone, I like alot and there are too many to list. But the little things make it stressful for me at times. I am going to call Rogers to see if I cant figure out the Text problem, but I am wondering if I should just return the unit for another, or maybe seek a totally different device. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom they would care to share?

what rom are you using?
make sure its flashed to the newest official rom at the very least. (although I'd recommend flashing a custom rom.)
you can also try flashing different radio roms to get a better signal.
but if you're in an area that other phones have decent reception(on the same carrier) its possible your X1 is defective.?
When I checked the firmware, it was R3A im pretty sure. I havent thought of flashing to roms yet. My phone is now telling me I have 2 new texts, and I deleted them all, and it still says 2 new messages. I think a new rom is needed...
Standard ROMs don't have that SMS problem. It is most likely one of the additional programs you have installed. Third-party software is most likely the culprit when phones start acting funny. Uninstall them one-by-one to see if the problem clears up (I would start with uninstalling Touch Response).
What about this?

^^^ Hmmm...why install a program that compensates for another program's bugs?
Hey, Group...
Got my Gear 2 Neo a few months ago....I expected some "growing pains" out of a new system (and I haven't been disappointed)...but I guess my first question is:
Where The Aitch-Ee-Double-Toothpicks are the *SECONDS*?
Whose Bright Idea was it to eliminate those nasty, useless seconds from the Clock? (same people that want to get rid of the Penny, I'm betting)
This is a *WATCH*...not a *Sundial*!
I want to use one of the basic clocks...they are clean and easy to read...but unless I get some weird Retro LCD Clockface...or an Analog...I can't seem to get *seconds*....It's obviously possible *to* display them (other faces have 'em)...why not the Stock Clock? What gives??? (*pant*pant*pant*)....okay...I'm a little better, now.
But seriously...I repair Medical equipment for a living; that often relies on synchronized data.....I need to be able to set those devices *accurately*...not "Aww...plus-or-minus a couple of minutes is fine!"
So...that's the first question (okay...I guess it was more of a Rant *blushes*)....the Second Question is.....is there anyplace to actually *interact* with the Tizen Devs? I went to the Tizen site...and I thought they made it pretty clear that if you're not a Dev...they really don't want to hear from you.)
Ive got nothing against Hacking (running People's ROM on my Galaxy S3)...but if you don't *need* to hack it...why bother?
Okay...next ones are regarding Apps (or the lack thereof):
Does anyone know of an App that will turn *off* the Inertia Sensor for a specific period of time? Specifically, I'd like to wear my Neo to bed...but every time I move in my sleep, it turns on, and ticks my wife off...so turning the Intertia sensor off between, say, 10PM and 6AM would be *awesome*! (Obviously, turning it on from the "Home" Button would still work)
And...I know this is an Issue...because I've seen some other posts about it, but no Solutions....is there a way to make the Weather app update more than twice a day? I flat *cannot* force it to update, unless I reset *everything* (Watch and phone)
I guess the corollary to that question is: Do any of you guys know of anyone Developing a Weather App *besides* AccuWeather? (I'd *love* to see WeatherBug do one...but that prolly won't happen...they can't fit Ads onto the Watch face...)
Thanks in advance, guys (and gals)...I'm really not a raving lunatic (most of the time) :silly:
I can't address all these issues but generally seconds are left off of stock watch faces to save battery. I just turned off the motion action altogether because the watch turned on at very weird times whether I was sleeping or not. I got used to using the button to see the time very quickly.
I know that is not a help but there you are.
Fred
The Weather channel has an app for the watch, although it doesn't have the option of adding it to the clock "window".
I use the sleep tracker at night and it has an option to have it turn on Block mode and that keeps the watch from coming on when moving in your sleep, as well as coming on for any notifications from your phone.
not sure on the Tizen development question though.
Why does my Moto X forget the time and date when I turn off mobile data to try and claw back a little battery life? Is it that reliant on data that it can't even do the simplest tasks like remember the date?! It thought it was February 9th and 8:54 up until a few minutes ago...
You can set it to follow a time and date you set, or that sent from the carrier. I guess you're on the latter, and the lack of carrier updates prevent it from continuing. Try the former and let us all know.
This phone is getting dumber.
Moto Voice no longer works.
When the alarm goes off I have to wave my hand over it so much that I may as well get up rather than have that extra snooze and when it does eventually go into snooze mode and my arm is worn out from waving the screen stays on for 5 of the 10 minutes.
Time for something new and less annoying. Any suggestions? I like the look of the LG V10, but it doesn't appear to be available in the UK through official channels, only iffy looking resellers...

Try doing a factory reset and start fresh. That usually fixes random annoyances that you explained.
That'll be a lot of hassle only to find out it still doesn't work, as I suspect will be the case. You only have to look at the Play Store reviews for Moto voice to see that various updates have made it unusable for a lot of owners. Mine just doesn't listen to what I'm saying and just says "Let's talk later" all the time. Can't really see it doing much for the phone not snoozing and leaving the screen on after the alarm goes off either. I know the sensors are fine, as the time is displayed if I wave my hand over it at any other time...
I just think Motorola have made various poor updates to this phone and I think I'll just put it out to pasture and get myself a new toy.
