Hi all
I followed the guide on how to install TomTom 5.1 using the 4 cab files. I can now say TomTom works and opens on my MDA III running WM2005.
The problem I am having is since the upgrade to WM2005 I can not get TomTom to pick up a GPS signal from the mouse. I have the official TomTom wired mouse and not bluetooth. I have tried selecting all the avalible com ports but TomTom will not find a GPS signal.
Applogies if this has already been covered but I have tried searching but cant find anything.
Surely I cant be the only one using a wired version so any help on this would be great.
Thanks in advance
Mark
Not too sure about WM5 but on WM2003SE (as I have) have you tried unckecking the "receive incomign Beams" from the Start/Settings/Connections/Beam Screen..?
A Search on the Forums would have picked this answer up - As it did when I originally had the problem with WM2003SE
Cheers!
Thank-you
Yeh i know user error!!
I even had a friend who had this problem on the SPV2000
All woring fine now
Thanks again
Hello,
with the news french rom HTC and the last rom DOPOD tom tom 6.03 is freezing, so i made 5 modifications of the P3600 parameters and now no freeze at all and tom tom works flawlessly. Before posting the solution i will test it until tomorrow to be sure.
@+++
just for information, never meet a freeze in tomtom with the french SFR S300+ ROM
good night
FREEZE
Hello,
Yes that right with SFR 300 but SFR is not the newest rom.
The newset Rom have AKU 3.3.1
@+++
The solution is uncheck all POIs. TOMTOM will not show POIs in the map, but you will be still be able to be advised of radars proximity (or any other POI you want) or select as destination, etc.
I am testing this solution since a week and works perfectly.
download newest tomtom, solve the problem.
And what is the solution??
If TomTom Freezes I just press the green phone button and everythinh is oke again, but it is rather bad...

Yes it works
Thanks
I installed version 6.03 and it works fine now.
I sometimes still get a freeze (about once every 10 or 12 days now) but a quick power off and back on solves this in about 5 seconds. It only happens when starting so I can still trust it in city centres where you really need it.
I recently cleaned some junk files from the tomtom map folder and it has not hung since but it's too early to say if I have a 100% no freezes or not...
I never had any tomtom freezing problems till I deleted my US maps and reinstalled them with the sd card are almost full. so I reformated my sd card and reinstalled the mapset and the tomtom program only and did not have any freezing at all for are 6 hour roadtrip. guessing my problem was caused be the mapset being fragmented because the sd card was almost full when I reintalled the mapset. I don't think this will correct everyones problems but it might help some.
Just to be sure about what we are looking for
I have a TomTom 6.03 freeze with the latest FR GPS ROM…
But it concerns only when I was playing with the menus and settings with TomTom soft (also this can be avoided by switching to another program and coming back when it happens… As clicking the green button for example).
But, when I am not playing with… and I have just a navigation mode… I never had a Freeze.
Will confirm that during the w.e. as I am not using GPS during the week
To stop the freezing just disable all pois alerts on your map's...
you will not seem them on display but still have the sound alert if needed...
I thought there was solution here
The thread started will the solution but the real solution is never given *BUMMER*
I just installed ROM version 1.23.405 but TOM TOM keeps saying 'connecting to gps' but it never does.
Anyone knows why?

Hello,
I am trying to help a friend with a Kaiser and wants his iGo working in it.
Everything seems ok, iGo starts but after some seconds it shuts down. I tried to change GPS port and everything else I could thought but problem persists. Any advice?

Did you try Tomtom before iGo? I have the same issue with google maps. It will seek sats and give up saying no gps signal. But if I run tomtom and then start gmaps it works fine (inside buildings). I would suggest you open iGO outside and check it out. Are you using COM4?
Will check... now he is travelling (Poland) but will call me when he came back.
I did not tried TOM TOM...
find a free program called GPS Test. Set it to Com 4 / 4800. Much smaller than TomTom and certainly an app that's worth keeping on it.

the issue is that the internal GPS on the Kaiser needs to be "jump started" there a few apps that do this a free one that is also good is GPSViewer and the others mentioned above. I use TomTom well since it came with my Kaiser and with all that Damn Program memory who the hell cares if I use 10MB to install TomTom and a Map
I have never had problems with starting my GPS. I did a quick fix once and have used it with first Google maps (no problem) then Pocketstreets (again no issue) and finally Tom Tom.
I have never had to wait more than 20 seconds or so for a fix. Make sure you are outside before starting the application though.
Hi,
i've benn searched in the forum but i've not found any notice about my problem....
that is, when i install igo8 the setup seems to end successfully, but when i tap on the igo icon nothing happens, even disabling htc home.
i've realized that in the igo8 folder the sys.txt file is'nt there...
in addition igo don't appears in installed software in system tab, and tapping on unistall igo8 in programs nothing happens.
someone can help me??
Which version of IGO are you using?
I suggest you uncheck the IGO checkbox in the start-today-items, and see whether it helps.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling previous versions first.
I had a similar problem with my HW6910 when I installed an upgraded (legal) version of IGO 2006.
Uninstall iGo, disable HTC Home from Today screen, soft-reset, install iGO and run it

Yeah, THX! Had the same problem
I have the same problem with iGO8 and WM6.1
Hi to all
I have the same problem with my Kaiser (RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.17.56_Ship) and iGO8(full edition), when I disable HTC Home plugin and Soft reset, iGO starts. But if HTC Home plug in is enable with iGO happens nothing when try to run it.
But the question is HTC or iGO will change something in their software?
iGo8 works perfectly with Garmin DK3.1 and the final both with HTC home enabled. I'm using the 3.1 right now. I havent flashed the final yet but others have reported that the final works as well.
iGO8 Ver. 8.0.0.41506 (June 3, 2008) works perfect with WM 6.1 AT&T official ROM 3.57.502.2 WWE OS 5.2.19214 (Build 19214.1.0.4)
NO ERRORS! HTC Home plug is NOT disable!
yes, latest iGO8 fixed the bug with HTC home.
;-)
...and where can be downloaded the latest iGO8? ;-)
i'm using the latest igo8 with the latest north america map.
it runs fine but never finds the gps.
google maps and tomtom both find the gps.
any suggestions?
IGO download?
where can I find the latest IGO for download?

i put that in and i put a check on "enable gps device" and it still doesn't work
it scans that port and every other and can't find it.
Did you have any problem with the "GPS active" checkbox?

I had to revert to the previous ATT ROM because of this (the USE GPS checkbox in the GPS SETUP screen wouldn't stay checked).
Mistarip, were you able to retain the checkmark?

i got it working.
i disabled assisted gps and it worked.
it automatically put a check on "enable gps device"
it works good now. i like the tomtom better though
tomtom makes the best gps software. they care more about functionality than graphics.
this solution has a high cost...

APGS gives me an almost instant fix most of the time.
The only times it takes a couple of minutes for TFF is when I travel abroad, or when I upgrade the IGO version.
What are the fix times for you, w/o AGPS?
Have you tried any of the other solutions, eg "GPS Quick Position.cab" or "SH4Y's QuickGPS Fix.CAB" given elswhere in this forum?
And which version of IGO are you using?
Thank you.
hi all i have a qtek 2020i and tomtom nav7 installed with ik maps and it works fine for 10-20mins then it just freezes for no reason and i have to do a soft reset to get the unit to function again
is their any fix for this at all ? or do i need to look at other options ?
