Hello everybody
I have O2 XDA IIi. Recently ActiveSync hang while filling my 1GB SD card with dozens of .mid files (over 300Mb).
I had to disconnect my device from the cradle. And now this SD card is non-detectable. My device does not see it.
I tried to read it on many card readers - no result. I have installed many disk operating tools on my device (Pocket Mechanic and similar) - none of them did solve my problem.
Is anybody here had similar situation? Is there any way to make my SD card work again?

Been using a Kingston 1GB SD card for the last 4 months with no problems at all, until yesterday .
I was downloading the a file from the internet via GPRS directly to the SD card. The browser locked up the PPC so I had to reset it. Now the card is completely dead, whatever device I put it in.
What have I learned from this?
1. The XDA 2i kills SD cards if it is reset whilst writing to the card.
2. Don't use flakey apps to write to the SD card, or download from the internet directly to the SD card!
yup my xda2i killed on of my sd cards as well can't read it on any device
same card same problem ... later some freeze and soft reset my sd kingstone 1gb is missing and also winxp don't format!!
i have seek this utility to format my sd and now all run good!!

..you must have a usb card reader to use this utility
ok ive had my 256mb, 512mb and 1gig sd card working fine on my BA until recently..now im running into the following problems:
1. all the cards are recognised on the BA, but i'm prompted with this "Do you want to format this storage card to make it readable". Following the successful format, neither system nor applications like Resco or SKTools see the Storage Card.
2. I've formatted using both Fat16 and Fat32 on pc but again when inserting the cards into the BA i get the same "Do you want to format this storage card to make it readable". After formatting, the same result as no.1.
3. Ive read that un-checking "Enable advanced network functionality" would help. Have tried this and soft-reset with the same problem.
4. After formatting a card in the BA and then sticking it into the card reader on my desktop...the pc doesnt recognise it and prompts to format it. So this keeps going round and round with both pc and BA prompting to format before use. However the pc recognises the cards after formatting them.
5. After the BA formats any of these cards..I soft reset..but then it prompts to format again after the soft-reset.
6. Tried using StorageTools but it never recognises any of the cards when inserted..even after the BA has recognised it and apparently successfully formatted it.
7. Finally tried a hard-reset and restored my backup but still none of the SD cards are recognised.
Now it seems maybe a system problem or possibly a hardware fault..but the cards do initially get recognised when inserted into the BA but its after the BA formats it that nothing appears.
Have had a search in these forums...tried chkdsk on all cards without errors..but I'm still stuck..hope someone out there can help. Thanks in advance.
definately some hardware problem in BA.
i have a broken WIFI chip.
welcome to the club.
SD Card Problem - QTEK9090
I have the same problem with my 2Gb Storage card. I have updated my QTEK9090 to WM6.0 and after the update my storage has the same problem.
Im trying to find some patch or upgrade to this problem.
Try this
After some times, ived already had such problems like yours, and i think ived already fix it, ahm try to install wm5storage on your device, then activate it,, then connect to the PC, IT will, promt as removable disc,, just format the SDcard, then try to restart it,, im n0t sure if it would work on You BA coz ive done it on My HIMALAYA, but again its worth of trying,,

Well, you've already tried different STORAGE CARDS and same thing happens right? You've already tried reformatting it using your PC and also with your BA and same thing happens right? You did a hard reset and samething...definitely a hardware problem. But before this, what happened? Before your BA stops reading your storage cards, what happened?
Hi, basically I put my 512mb micro sd card in to my X1 and then check if it is working, but it says Not Installed.
I tryed another card and same problem. I have formatted to fat32 and still same problem. But when I put my phone in to Disk Transfer it says insert memory card etc. but on my Windows machine it shows me the memory card.
It seems like software to me, is there anyway of fixing this?
I have also installed the HARD SPL to install a new ROM but unable.
Anyhelp is great
Have rooted my SGS and Flashed to Froyo (although the external SD card seemed a bit flaky even under Eclair). I'm using a 32Gig SD card of indeterminate heritage.
When I use USB connection, and choose the mass storage option, my PC tells me I can't write anything to the external SD card because it is write protected. I know it isn't as I'm able to write to it with a stand alone card reader/writer, and also able to copy files to it using the Android Manager WiFi app. The only reason I don't just use the WiFi app all the time, is that it seems impossible to copy whole file structures, just files or blocks of files one folder at a time.
Kies is a complete joke, slow as hell, buggy bloat-ware, and only connects to my phone a small percentage of attempts,
I have tried mounting, unmounting, removing, formatting. Has anyone got any ideas what might be the problem?
Oh, I wondered if it might be caused because the SD card is a 'generic' unbranded card of unknown 'class' off a well known auction site. Could it be just that the card is dodgy (I don't have an alternative card to try in it's place)?
Many thanks, Phil
I think my question can be disregarded. Found another thread that says it is the XXJP3 Froyo build that is causing the issue. FWIW I just tried using Kies again, and it corrupted the SD card so now I've got to start from scratch again
Dear fellow members,
My Xperia Z has had trouble reading my sd card every now and then (as described in other threads), however on one rainy day it decided that the card was not recognizable anymore and that it was either blank or that the file system was unreadable.
It is a 'Sandisk Micro SD HC Class 10 8gb' card. My question is the following:
Is it somehow possible to read the sd card on my computer through my Xperia Z through USB cable? Can you force to use your pc to read the contents of the card, or can the pc only read what the Xperia Z can read?
I don't have an adapter, and no one that I know has one either (or has had to use it). I am pretty sure my pc will be able to read the contents, where my mobile phone (Xperia Z) fails.
Anyone? Or any tips and/or tricks that do not require an adapter?
You need a phone or a device that can mount the SD card to Windows as a removable storage device. Then, you need a piece of software like Recuva or R-Studio to scan the card and restore what can be restored.
