how do you remove the icons at the bottom of the today screen in WM6?
i have already disabled Tray launch, but those icons still exist...see picture.
Remove the Battery Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Power]
"ShowIcon"=dword:00000000
Remove the Wireless Manager Icon:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000000
remove TrayAp.exe if exist
[HKLM\init]
Launch92=
look in
[HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet]
search registry for tray and see what it comes up with, be careful, backup reg keys before editing
Delete - init_tray.lnk if exist from windows\startup folder.
Look for other links in this folder that might create a tray icon
When you start DFregedit or DFrunningApps, it always installs a tray icon. I believe there is no option to disable this, all you can do is not to close it with close button but with menu>exit. Or be real nice to DotFred and ask him for an option to disable the feature.
There's a blue icon in the corner that I do not know, is it Bluetooth related or a suspend or reset button? Possibly placed their by software you installed or it came with your ROM.
The buttons there are: DFRegedit, Battery, Comm Manager, Rotate Screen, Pshutoff, Bluetooth.
ok will try the removal from the registry, i guess most people love this type of setup - with tray at bottom, i find it not nice to look at, since my icons on top are large and the ones on tray are tiny, no balance...hehehe.
@Paulpax did you use rltoday for your hima ? because I try to use it, but doesn't work properly

yup i use RLTODAY and i edited the skin file to suit me. although the original skin.xml is already OK.
Hi
I am trying to do the same, found the values in the registry, edited them properly with a regeditor, but no changes. After a soft reset, the values are back as before, unchanged...
Any idea, what is happening? PHM registry editor has no "save" option, so I don't know other than to exit the application via "Tools - Exit"

Yes, this can be frustrating. On your desktop PC every change to the registry is immediately permanent, on your Hima it's not always so.
Count to 20, exit reg editor, count to 20, switch off, count to 20, switch on, count to 20, soft reset USING software!, not the hole/stylus method!, check result. Most of the time just using software soft reset also works but not always.
y dnt u guyz use CEregedit..it connects ur ppc to ur pc via USB and copy's all reg entries
please give a download link
ok here u go Maggy
wince regedit : http://rapidshare.com/files/72691245/ceregedit_setup.rar
Thanks a lot, this looks not only better than any xda regeditor, it even looks better than XP regedit! Any idea if a version for editing the XP registry exists?
yeah i have one called Registery Workshop..i will post its link A.S.A.P
im just even using the DFRegEdit that come with the Shekhar ROM, by the way, when u edit the SKIN.XML, u just open it with NOTEPAD, do editing, save, then to APPLY changes, open Settings - Today - Items - RLtoday - Options, the press OK for the SKIN to make the changes....then your TODAY screen changes.
When using the rlToday how did you make the scroll bar on the side go away?

Hello everyone, i asked this question in the 'post your today screen' thread but got no answer so will try asking here:
I recently installed the htc home customiser and changed a few things around and generally had a play with it to see what i could create from my today screen. I then decided i was happy with how the original htc one looked so i changed it back. Unfortunately i have a slight problem.
Originally, under the htc home section i had tasks, appointments, tomtom, etc etc showin up and there was a scroll bar on the right hand side that allowed me to scroll down the list, all while keeping htc home in the same position at the top. Now though, i have a scroll bar that extends all the way up the right hand side of the screen whereas before it only went as far as the bottom of htc home. It now covers up part of the date and the sound settings button. When i scroll down my list of shortcuts, it now also scrolls htc home also. (i hope my description makes sense)
It is very annoying and also makes my home screen look ugly. Does anyone know how i can get it back to how it used to be?
thanks very much in advance!
You can fix this by updasting the registry directly. There may be another way, but off the top of my head, I don't know.
Check your entries under the registry item: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Today/Items
Under there, you will see an entry for every Today plugin you have available in your Today settings window.
Select one and you see it has entries called:
- Enabled
- Flag
- Order
- Selectability
- Type
under each one.
- Enabled denotes if its checked for your Today screen (1 is on, 0 is off)
- Order denotes the sequence it is on the Today screen. The lower the number the higher on the screen, so usually, HTCHome is the lowest enabled since it at the top.
- Type denotes whether it is one that is "movable" or not.
Type is the one that you need to modify. Type can be 0 (moveable) or 5 (non-movable). Type 0 ones can be moved up and down in the Today settings screen, where as Type 5 ones cannot.
The issue is that if the Today screen content is too much to fit on the screen, it auto adds the scroll bar. BUT it will only make the part of the screen occupied by movable activated plugins scrollable.
Before you customized, it HTCHome was likely a Type 5, and it was Order 1 (or something low since its at top). And all others were Type 0. Thus the scrollable section DIDNT include the HTC Home. Somehow, your HTCHome type is now 0, so it is scrolling along with everything else.
Hope this helps. Of course, manually modifying the registry has inherent danges, so be careful, and I take no responsibility if you mess up (disclaimer ).
This might be configurable and modifiable via HTC HOME Customizer app itself, but not sure...I just know the above is how I would fix it if I needed to.
Cheers for that mate, i will have a look tomorrow and see if i can sort it out.
in the home customizer go to the "options" tab and check "Lock plugin on the today screen" ... this will solve your problem!
Today screen keeps scrolling up
I don't know if this is the right post to ask, but you guys seemed pretty knowledgeable about today screen...
What happens is that whenever I scroll down (with the scroll bar) my today screen, it keeps scrolling back up to beginning screen automatically.
Only way to avoid this is to scroll all the way to the bottom and then it stops there. Then I can scroll up to see my today plugins which are in the middle (e.g. if you can scroll 4 times down - 4 screens of plugins - and I want to see my plugins which are 1 screen down the initial today screen, I have to tap all the way down and then tap up 2 times to see the plugins I should have seen tapping just 1 time).
This is so annoying. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi:

This is for mbernstein:
You hijacked the thread but since the op had his issue resolved I can offer you just a little input. I had the same problem you mention. It started after I installed a few SPB programs. I'm not sure if it was the Pocket Plus, Mobile Shell, or something else but it was definately an SPB proggie. Once I uninstalled the programs the issue went away. I'm disappointed because they are good softwares.
Thanks. This should be the case. But it is a shame as Spb softs are quite good (otherwise).
Yes, I unchecked SPB today plugins and it took a long time (right one) for the screen to go "home". thanks.
Ok, Ive looked around and havent seen any fixes or tips for this.. I have three battery icons on the top of my today screen (and yes I know about the KasierTweak setting but that doesnt fix it)... How can I get rid of the extra ones? Ive tried changing the registry for one but all that ended up doing was getting rid of one and moving all the other icons over.. however, the volume and phone icons ended up getting covered up... (see second screenshot)... Id like to stick with the battery icon on the far right, since it gives me a battery status when I click on it, not the battery settings...
looks like the one on the far left is the spb pocket plus one. Just go into the options for pocket plus and disable the checkbox for battery metrer... the other could be the system registry setting to display the battery instead of the clock (not simply the standard battery meter) you need to use advance config or kaiser tweek to disable this or just disply clock then turn off/on phone not soft reset (system sometimes does not keep the registry setting if you stylus reset).... see if this helps.
Please list all the Apps you have installed would be a good starting point. The above mentioned Spb Pocket Plus can be disabled as noted...
The SPB Pocket Plus was the 2nd from left icon... made that one a long slender one across the top...
KaiserTweak controls the one on the right (can make it a
battery or clock)... the registry edit (below) and power down/up instead of soft reset did the same thing as before... the other icons have been moved to the right but you cant see them... this only happens on the Today Screen, when I open an app, you can see the icons...
Nothing:
"ShowTitleBarClock"=1 / "TBOpt"=0
the far left icon came from QuickMenu...
here are other apps Im using:
whatever was included with Alex's ROM
TomTom
Google Search, Maps
SPB Full Keyboard, Diary, Weather, Backup, Insight, Phone Suite, Pocket Plus
HTC Customizer
HTC Cube
S2U2
I just noticed that the Windows icon on the upper left of my screen which opens the start menu, is cut off. Only the left half is visible and it makes it more difficult to tap to open since the icon width is half the original size. Is there a way to fix this?? BTW I did a search and there was no info available on this...
try schaps advanced config,if problems still happens then try hard resetting, you might need a different rom

This was an Issue on Dutty's April 1 Hybrid ROM. Did you look in there for solutions? I don't think there was. Was a bug in the Rom.
Thanks for responding. I was finally able to figure this one out. I opened WkTask from preferences and there is a setting for horizontal offset. I just increased the value in the box and it fixed it in "real time" ie as I increased the number the open program field moved to the right, uncovering the Windows icon and giving me improved access to tapping it to open the start menu. All is well!
Hi there,
I´m trying to hide the soft buttons bar. I already tried pmc today shrink and softbar remover, both found searching the forums.
Problem is, I still want to display the tray (in the place of the soft button bar - the goal is to increase today space without loosing the tray).
With pmc today shrink, the soft buttons bar is gone, but also the tray.
With softbar remover, the softbar is gone, but the tray remains in the same place (so today screen space is not bigger).
Does any1 have any idea about doing this ?
Thanks in advance.

well with pmc the buttons are still usable. you just have to hit the actual soft key buttons not the touch screen.
my 2centz.
Well... yes, I know
Thats exactly what I want: I want to get rid of the softbar, but be able to still use it by pressing the soft buttons (hence, why I think there is no need to have it on screen).
What I want is to hide the softbar, and still be able to see the system tray at the bottom of the screen...
The problem is that with both solutions I have found, I can´t do that: with the first, the softbar is gone but the tray remains at the same place, so I can´t make use of the extra pixels. And with the second, both the softbar and the tray are gone.
Thanks for trying to help
On WM6.0 I had very rarely problems with VJ Toggle Today II, it basically just hides the soft menu and everything else moves down, it looks great and the soft keys still work, PHM Task Launch works perfect, programs show up in the tray at the very bottom of the screen, the Today screen items can take up the extra space that has been made above it, etc..
The executable is: vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe and you just put it in Startup. I have to tweak the registry to get it just perfect, the following post documents it, has a link to it, etc..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211
It says WM5 only but it works fine for me on WM6.0 and WM6.1 Caveat with WM6.1; after reboot I have to slide the phone once for the task tray to show up at all. It's just empty down at the bottom otherwise. It happened every so often with WM6.0, but 100% of the time with WM6.1. But it's a fairly minor annoyance. I might see if there's some way to automate this with MortScript or something and put it at the end of the startup list.
Amazing!!
Reinstalled pmc todayshrink and as you mentioned, opening the keyboard made the tray reappear.
Thanks!! Now my today screen is looking the way I want.
You may also want to try dcinobar. It is a very small program that lowers the softkey bar but still allows the system tray to be seen.

D/L link in post #12.
EDIT: But you will have to slide the phone open and close it to make the tray go to the bottom as well...
