Clock on 8125 in military time? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

OK i have my 8125 bout a week now and so far ive updated the rom to summiter's custom cingular rom, and all is well with that. Last nite i installed resco file explorer and memmaid. i also did the omapclock tweak and all is well there too, but i noticed that now my clock on the today screen is in military time. (24hrs instead of 12hrs) Can someone tell me how to fix this so it tells regular time again...

One of the customization cab files should have set it to display 12 hour time, but something must have changed it.
You can set it to your desired format in the "Regional Settings" section of the system settings.

Thanks
Thanks Summiter,
Damn is there anything you dont know? Also thanks for the quick response. Ive been looking all day to try to fix the damn clock. Regional settings didnt even come to mind

I know just enough to be dangerous at times. ;-)

I know this post is 6 months behind the reply from summiter, but I've just encountered the same change to my clock on my 8125 to military time. Over this past couple of weeks (10/16/06), I upgraded to ROM version 2.26.10.2 WWE. Everything was fine for a while, then all of a sudden this afternoon, 12-hour time changed over to 24-hour (military) time. My clock and calendar are now in military time and I just don't think that way and need it back.
I haven't added any software recently, so I have no earthly idea what caused this to change. I went to Regional Settings and have the settings on "H:mm:ss", which I assumed was the 12-hour setting. But te sample shows military time for both "H:mm:ss" and "HH.mm.ss".
Please help as I liked this ROM version until this occurred. I'd rather not have to go to another ROM just yet.
Thanks,
Keith

You're close. Scroll up and make it h.mm.ss (or hh.mm.ss if you like 2 digit time, for instance 09:21)

The difference here is the H:
H is military time 24 Hours, H = 1 digit, HH = 2 digits
h is normal time, , h = 1 digit, hh = 2 digits

In case you are still on Military time, I believe the answer is that you want the formats with "tt" on the end. That should add "AM" & "PM".

But when I change the Regional Setting to Hong Kong (my home region), the tt format doesn't show up any more! It shows up if Regional is USA. Is there a brute force approach to add it back in?
Thanks.

BatteryStatus Today-Plugin notification

I"m using the Battery-Statue Today-Plugin and i started getting this notification that says that the program is freeware and i can continue to use it as long as i want. the thing is it pops-up about 5 times in a row and it has been doing it all day. Does anyone know how to disable this notification or make it not pop-up so often?
yup..i started getting it today...so ANNOYING..any way to disable it? im also using Duttys V4 rom
ha I just added a post at the end of dutty's v4 RTM 200 page thread about it happening to me today.
Me too!
Started earlier today and just uninstalled....
Anyone know of a diffrent one without the nag screen?
me too, it wouldnt leave me alone lol.
but everytime ill slide the keyboard or turn on the display it would tell me that.

Opps, it probably not a good idea to have it inside our rom then ....
omg this battery status thing is horrible. Why did it happen to us at the same time. Weird stuff. Anyways, just hard reset and its worked for about an hour for me (so far). Otherwise it was every time i opened anything, turned the screen on, or slid the phone open.
ME TOO
Omg, me too! Just started today, does it all damn day. The link provided above, is it the same battery status in black/white that dutty always provides in his roms? Ive installed the program myself on schap's roms because he never cooks this in and the program is rainbow colored. I have a black and white theme so dutty's battery status icon is perfect, not the standard colored icon. Any help to make it like dutty's?
Hard Reset?! Talk about using an axe when a butter knife would suffice!
Ok, I am really not flaming. REALLY! Doing a hard reset for this just seems so extreme . . .
Simply reinstall it from the cab and "poof" all better. However, if it is date based (which would explain it happening on the same day) rather than based on a length of use, neither will fix it.
Anyway, we should support the latest build. Anyone have a link to find it?

I reinstalled the cab (BatteryStatusExt.1.04.CAB) and even tried the beta version (BatteryStatusExt.1.04.203.beta4.CAB).
Still get the pop-up. Must be some kind of easter egg type Y2K thing that the creator put in there. I can only assume it is set for Jan 31 since it happened to all of us on the same day. I am going to uninstall it and reinstall on Feb 2 and see what happens. So far I ruined 1 spreadsheet I was working on when the popup came up and I closed it and the excel closed along with it losing my worksheet with all my typing on it. kind of pissed me off.
same here.... getting crazy... will try new version

BTW, this is on my T-Mo WING, so you guys know its not Kaiser specific.
hi have installed the new version and it seems to be ok now
It happened to mine for a day or so and today it has not happened at all... well yet... maybe its just for a limited duration? I havent done anything special to stop it and while I dl'd the latest version I have not yet installed it (waiting to flash a new ROM and get my 8gb card in)... but it seems to have stopped... *touches wood*
has anyone successfully installed the new version on a ROM like Dutty's that already had the batterystatus part of the ROM and it has successfully removed the popup?

Yeah I just got the message yesterday also...it must have popped up at least 20 times.
Mine seems to have stopped doing it now... which is a good thing as it was rather annoying...
I reinstalled the latest release and the annoying nag has gone.

i think americans call it military time and call it stuff like 15 hundred!!!!! at least thats what movies told me

Some Americans call it military time. Not sure why since there's a lot more people than the military that uses it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_time said:
In Australia, Canada and the United States, the term military time is a synonym for the 24-hour clock notation, which counts the hours of the day from 00 to 23.[1] In these regions, the time of day is customarily given almost exclusively using the 12-hour clock notation, which counts the hours of the day as 12, 1, ..., 11 with suffixes AM and PM distinguishing the two diurnal repetitions of this sequence. The 24-hour clock is commonly known there only in a few specialist areas (military, astronomy, computing, logistics, emergency services, hospitals), where the ambiguities of the 12-hour notation are deemed too inconvenient, cumbersome, or outright dangerous, with the military's use being historically the first and most famous example. The term "military time" has no particular meaning in most other regions of the world, where the 24-hour clock has long become a common element of every-day civilian life.

We'd still have to use time zones... Even if we went to UTC time. As someone who regularly uses it, I think it would be less confusing to use UTC time. You should probably know that though.
Just as a side note, the US Railroads were the ones who invented and introduced Time Zones. Before this, there were a dizzying amount of time zones used in the US, even adjacent cities would use different times, this caused several problems of course and made the safe running of trains much harder. I am using Dutty's build (19199.duttys) V6.1 on AT&T tilt.

Also, Is there a newer ROM out? I can't seem to be able to find a link to ROMS where everyones Rom is listed and updated? Is there not such a thread or area Website, ftp? with updated rom listings.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

For some reason it seems like the basis of timezones were first introducted in UK... (not US...)
Source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zone#History
And IMHO, I prefer the 24hr format (especially since every time I need to wonder what midnight is : am or pm in the 12hrs format)
I am in the US, but have always referred to it as 24 hour time... and it's what I use. I work in the Broadcast industry, and to complicate things, have to deal with about 6 different timezones.
My favorite example, when Indiana was divided between two timezones, we had a station broadcasting from one timezone into the other. Some things had to run based on Eastern Time, and others, Central Time, and still others came in with Pacific Time notations....
I think it might take a learning curve, but we should stop using timezones, or at least do away with 'Daylight Saving Time'.
Stepping off of soapbox now
Jeremie
UK here, and from some limited travelling in Europe 'military time' is more often used than normal time. BBC News (if it sets any standards ) uses 24 hour clocks. I don't know why, I'm just much more comfortable with a 24 hour clock, although I don't ever say '18 hundred hours' I would say 6 o clock, just the way it's written is different...
To each their own though maybe it's because I'm from the metric generation, metres instead of feet, celsius instead of fahrenheit (I still don't know what my mum means when she says it was 109, that's hotter than boiling water in my book) and such.

Why change from 4-digit to 3-digit clock?

I've just upgraded to Dutty's latest ROM and have noticed that the big clock ("train station clock" style) has been changed to display 3 digits instead of 4-digits. The small clock when swiped, however, still show 4 digits. I wonder why... I personally prefer 4 digits...
and yr point and the reason you started a new thread is........???????
what kind of answers are you waiting for?
1. Confirmation that other ROMs has this.
2. Suggestions to getting 4-digit clock back.
3. Theories as to why the clock has been changed to 3 digits.
If you need more reasons, let me know.

3. go there, ask the cook and all other users of the specific ROM!!

Start>Settings>System>Regional Settings>Time Tab
Then set if from h:mm:ss to HH:mm:ss (Note hh:mm:ss is not the same as HH:mm:ss)
that'll fix it..

Any ideas how to fix the problems?

Hi, not sure if anyone having similar problems or not.
Problem 1: I live in Sydney, I've set the time to GMT+10 Sydney, after a while, the phone automatically change the time setting to GMT+10 Vladivostok. Any idea how to fix this minor problem?
Problem 2: When I put my phone to stand-by mode (eg. after a while the phone's screen is off or phone automatically lock up), when some one send the sms to my phone, the phone does not play the warning sound for incoming message, until I turn on screen than the phone play the incoming sms sound.
Problem 3: Weather--- I've download the update for weather for the whole week. For example, on Monday night I've downloaded the weather, the screen showing the weather at night (for Monday), than On tuesday morning, the weather screen does not update to Tuesday's weather, it just stay for monday night's weather screen. Does Dimond automatic update the weather for each day base from the data which already downlaoded?
Thanks for you help!
ohh guys... how come no one can answer my problems??
1. happened to me also. i don't care if it is jerusalem+ or beirut+2. do you really care? for a possible solution see also post # 11.
2. somewhere in the forum there is a tweak (or a registry edit?) for this. i think there are ROMs with this bug solved.
3. you can choose to have the weather update manually or automatically.
weather/menu/settings/download weather automatically (thick for auto).
there not such thing like downloading the weather Monday for the whole week...the weather is changing (like when they said tomorrow-rain and you walk all next day feeling ridiculous with yr umbrella and the sun is shining ).
if it is important for you live it on manual and each time you sync with yr pc download the weather. is cheap and fast and daily.

If you ask me, it's a bit stupid that it changes the time zone constantly when you select to sync the time. By the looks of it, it always changes the time zone to the last item in that zone (Ulaanbaatar is the last item in +8).

Only way I have found to fix this is to go the Phone Settings area, Then Time Zones and turn off "Automatic change time zone and clock" . I had this same issue with my TyTnII and now my Diamond. My guess is the Telco Networks transmit the time as raw UTC along with an offset, but without a location stamp. Something like "it is currently 0230UTC and this location is GMT+10". It is then up to the WM6.x to go into its list of timezomes and I bet it just grabs the first in its list that is +10, so Vladivostok. Buggers up summertime offsets too.
Good news is if you leave this turned off the time will still get updated when you activsync by way of HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Clock\NetworkTimeSync.
Just that it wont automtically change when you move time zones for example.
I've set mine to off, I'll report back in a few days, sounds like it will be fine looking at previous post by Logger.

what I mean was you know when you hook up to the net and downloaded the update for the weather, the phone will update for the whole week's data. As soon as the update is done, the phone will show you the weather of the same day (the date you updated e.g. Monday), but the following day (Tuesday), the weather still showing Monday's weather and doesn't change the date Tuesday, but I know the weather for tueday was also downloaded (yeah I know the weather maybe is not up-to-date since was downloaded on Monday).

@chefs: reward offer for "task-snoozing"

Dear Chefs,
thank you for all great work you have done so far!
I use the Energy ROM for about two months and I'm stunned about all the great features he provide.
However, there is one thing I can't stand: The lack of appointment- and task snoozing other then 5 minutes. This makes the remind function almost useless.
My German t-mobile branded TP2 (called: MDA Vario V) came with the option to snooze appointments and tasks by a selectable time. So I could choose remind me in one or half Hour for example or one day and many other options, rather than dismiss it over and over again every 5 minutes. This is really bugging me.
I found a fix from crackwhore but it seems to be not compatible with the current windows mobile 6.5 ROMs.
Because it is so important to me and, as I noticed, to many, many others I want to post a reward and invite everybody who want this feature to join me by posting how much you are willing to donate to the person who find a solution and share it with the community
A proper solution would be a fix that works for the latest generation of WM6.5 ROMs and it would be great to have it already cooked into the popular ROMs, including Energy ROM.
So if somebody finds a solution, everybody who joined me is asked to donate the promised amount to the person who provided the solution.
I start off with a offer of 10$
Feel free to join me and make suggestion.
And please be true to your word: Don't offer something you are not willing to donate.
Current Offers (25.10.2009 01:25 UTC):
10 US-$
and
0 €
Why dont you ditch MS with another commercial application in the market? Couldn't you able to find one? I dont remember it but there was a program like this. Google it I suggest.
You can set the "reminder" time as any minutes/hours/days when you add an appointment. Am I missing something here?
NVM, I solved it! I was able to replace the new Notification.dll that handles the notification bubbles with an old, stock one. See the next post for the solution I made!
Question
Did your stock German ROM have the notification manager, where you'd click the taskbar, and it brings up that full screen? And also, did it have the skinned notifications, like the EnergyROM does? Please just describe exactly how the stock ROM handled the notifications, describe it visually.
Information
I researched this for 5 hours, and I was trying to do this: I wanted to make the Notification Panel remain (Full screen when you click on Taskbar), BUT, I wanted to use the standard Windows Mobile notification popups, because those allow you to snooze better. Well, that's not possible, from what I could tell. It's either all or nothing, you can't mix Microsoft's and HTC's notification system.
Solution
So, you have to disable the entire thing, which means you won't have the finger friendly notification system when tapping on the top taskbar. You can find the registry to disable Notification Manager here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4125405&postcount=3
Advanced Notifications Power Snooze Appointments!
I solved it!! It's CABbed up, and available on my website, Wingster.
Get your solution here: http://thewingster.com/advancednotifications.aspx
And if you want to donate, then follow the link on the bottom of my Wingster website, or use this link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5401195
Maybe I should have waited longer, for the bounty to increase! Nah, I did this mostly for myself, but it did end up taking 5 hours! I hate registries!
How I Created It
I found the old NotificationLayout.dll, and used that one for handling the notification bubbles! This brings back the old WinMo notification style popups, but it also keeps the finger friendly notification panel! Win-win!
Imagine how fast the world is, I wish you could solve my break off with GF such a fast.
Have Fun, Cheers
Sunny
the solution that brings the old popups up, has been around since my touch x 6.0 and that is since december last year...
well well well......
Awesome. I had used the crackwhore one and it worked but this is better

Curious before I use this, how is it different than crackwhore's fix?

FYI, crackwhore's is a better solution it doesn't eliminate the repeat function so what happens you get the alarm one time which was just as big a concern that I've had with some of the ROMs.

shiat..might I add, you can uninstall the cab but the dll has been overwritten so some how I gotta find the original and use crackwhore's or hard reset plus crackwhores.

Lol dam. Wasted that effort for nothin? lol. Well we can add mine to the collection of CABs that do the exact same thing as the other
Hi,
sorry for the delay, but university was keeping me extremely busy this week.
However I'm glad you found a solution. It's so unimaginably convenient to be able to snooze the alarm!
However would it be possible to add some options? There is still room on the display for one option isn't it?
Very handy would be having options like four and twelve hours (half day).
I would rather surrender 10 minutes while already having 5 and 15 minutes.
(or maybe better: surrender 15 minutes while keeping 10)
However the current stage of development is already great and of cause I will stand my word of donating 10 bucks.
I invite everybody who like this fix to also support him since he was fair enough of not "waiting" for the bounty to increase first and he's doing a great job with his website anyway.
Best Regards, Time
PS: You are talking about other - already existing - solutions? I only found crackwhores fix and didn't get it to work. Well now I have a great one-click-solution I won't surrender ... would be just interesting to know.
PPS:
Question
Did your stock German ROM have the notification manager, where you'd click the taskbar, and it brings up that full screen? And also, did it have the skinned notifications, like the EnergyROM does? Please just describe exactly how the stock ROM handled the notifications, describe it visually.

By next week I will flash my ROM anyway so I could flash the stock ROM in between and check if that helps. Interested?

Yea, flash the stock German ROM, and see how that operates. It'd be very interesting if they kept the advanced snooze options while keeping the slick notification style too.
I think that editing the DLL's is impossible though, but I guess it'd be worth a try. My initial goal was to keep the skinned notifications but add the snoozing. That'd be the optimal goal, and I will try to see if that can be done!

Yourestarted your phone after installing it, right? Maybe his ROM has some different notification system...I could try to look into it if you can confirm it still didn't take effect after a restart.

Yes I restarted the phone after installation but it didnt work
I would reeeeeally Appreciate it if you could look into it
You dont even need to make a .cab file, just give me some guidance on how to replace the .dll you mentioned in your post that worked

Well.....
First, download This File, unzip it, and place the DLL in the \Windows directory of your phone.
Now, here's where it may be different, apparently. Using a registry editor (like PHM Registry), try to find the string that is called CustomUIDLL and contains NotificationLayout.dll.
That string key should be located under HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM, however since the CAB didn't work, Valkyrie must have changed the location of the registry key. See if you can find it. Once you do, change the string value to: "NotificationLayoutOld.dll"
Hopefully that'll get it working!

OK.
Under HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM i have one folder named "reminder" and 3 other items named "default", " customUIDLL", and "userdefaultUI"
if i click on customUIDLL the string already reads "NotificationLayoutOld.dll" ( iguess from when I applied the .cab file) so there is nothing to change!
Also here is a screenshot of the contents in the HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM/reminder folder that I mentioned above
should i be editing the autodismissextendedduration file?
BTW I forgot to mention that when i install the cab file instead of "snooze' at the bottom bar I get the "menu' on the right and also another symbol on the left (like a phone with an 'x' next to it" but if i click on any of them the notification goes away and does not come back
So in essence the .cab works (because it points it to something else) but the location it point to, doesnt contain the necessary file to show up when you click on the the "menu' icon or the other icon that comes up SORRY I DIDNT MENTION THAT EARLIER BUT I WASNT AWARE OF IT TILL NOW.....
