Hi...
Attached here are the Camera files from the Jamin.Install No Cert CAb first and then copy all the files to Windows folder.
I was not able to extract cameraDriver.dll...but the results are good.Pls post yr feedback.
Do we know what the differences are? Has anyone tried this, compared results, etc?
Isn't the camera in the Prophet completely different from the one in the Wizard?
what's supposed to be the point if the hardware is different?
Do you by chance have the original files in case something goes wrong or the quality isn't as good as the original (although I can't see how that's even possible  ). Thanks for posting this, I'm anxious to give it a try.

Where I can find "No Cert CAb"?
Thanks
any special way im supposed to copy the files into the windows directory. its not lettin me do so. sayin access denied. I already have No Cert cab installed
I didn't have to install the no cert cab. All I did was connect the phone thru activesync, clicked the explore button in activesync, then copied all the files in the dloaded camera file and pasted them right into the Windows folder on the PPC. Soft reset and good to go. I think these are the same files that are already on the Wizard, though. I don't really see much if any difference.
Correction on my last post. I just reloaded the original camera files and recompared to the Prophet files - why didn't they install these in the first place? They're much more responsive than the Wizard files. The camera is much less grainy and more responsive when you first start looking and an object and focusing on it. The pics do seem to be a bit cleaner and brighter as well, but I'll have to take a couple shots from each to compare.
There's certainly no ill effects from installing the new camera app, I don't see any immediate benefit however. Attached are the old files (from the latest i-mate rom) so you can revert if you want to. I'll try it some more and report what I find. The important thing (assuming the camera on both Wizard and Prophet is identical) is the cameradriver.dll - if anyone has a JamIn could you please post the cameradriver.dll file so we can try it). Here's a quick before/after picture - not much difference, however I tried this in a decent light level.

thanks for the example i also couldnt see any difference, but are there any new Options in the cam app?
One thing I've noticed in Adjust... is that Gamma has been replaced by Sharpness.
In fact, just hacked the .exes and although the JamIn's camera app is v3.02, it was compiled after the latest i-mate one (v3.00), so perhaps the Wizard files are the most up-to-date? (Maybe the .02 refers to a build specifically for the Prophet?) I've attached the original i-mate files this time (oops!).
anyone know what the problem is with mine. i cannot replace the files in the windows folder. i get a msg saying access denied

This is a part of a reply to a registry question in general forum. It's a warning against importing win CE registry to the PC by mistake. The idea reminded me of something I read on a site called "Computer stupidities" .
http://rinkworks.com/stupid/cs_os.shtml
There's one there about a guy who's laptop got to heavy, so he installed CE on it to make it lighter, they just don’t specify how he did it…
That quote was from me - I don't recall if PCs still permit importing by double clicking, but it's wise to apply a reg hack on your PC to make the default function for reg files to be open in notepad, just in case. I was once feeling particularly malicious and removed the "shell" line from the registry and it caused all manner of screw ups. So screwing with your registry is bad... I highly recommend you run Erunt.
Re weird PCs, anyone know what happened to WinCE on the XBOX?

Vj, I apologize if the quote offended you, and I will edit the message if you want. The point you made is completely valid and I agree with it 100%.
The idea of CE and PC put together in one sentence simply reminded me of some silliness I thought might be good for a laugh or two so I posted the link.
Oh absolutely not offended! Just that the original question worried me slightly: how do I view/print off a reg file exported from the PDA, on a PC.
The number of ROM dumps and reg files that I play with on my pc at 5am, I've nearly been there, ending up with some kinda Frankenstinian PCA
V
Actually, Frankenstinian, some times works.
Personal example: Motorola SM56 PCI modem in P4 computer running XP pro. SP2.
The driver Motorola provides on their site always gave code 10 (cannot start), but when I installed the driver for win 2000 and deleted one exe that sat in the tray and controlled some options I can live without, it worked perfectly.
In fact, so far I didn't notice any instability, or problems sending faxes and stuff.
PS. Important note to whom ever might take this post as an example: when doing stuff like this be prepared to have to format your hard drive.

Tsk, assign .reg files to notepad, but do import one once with regedit.
Doubleclick-> edit in notepad
Rightclick - open with regedit -> import
I am 1000% sure that I had 49 MB storage memory last night. Downloaded a view vids (3GP and WMV) to play with core player and tataaa 11 MB left.
The default download path is set to "Storage Card\My Videos" but that dir is EMPTY???
@#@[email protected]%^% any idea where the files went???
YES I looked with File Explorer and Total Commander for files with matching extensions but found only the little "nature-whatever" which come with the tilt.
HELP me free some bits, bytes and megabytes??
1 more: How do I check 1000% that my emails and attachments are stored on the storage card. I get close to 100 emails/day. I DO have the inbox.mst on the storage card but NOT with a current date stamp.
Firstly, this is pretty basic PDA101 questions. You need to occasionally dump you temp, pages & cache. Try playing with the device or googling it.
Second, when you stream videos, you also usually download files as well, look in \My Documents for .m3u type playlist files, etc...
Gsleon3 thanks for the hints.
I DO use clear temp, had no .m3u files on the system and went through all dir.'s with Activesync and total commander but I simply don't find WHERE the memory got wasted, just getting the calculator out checking all crap under the windows dir.
Is there a potential memory leak somewhere documented?

Try using some system tools like sktools or memmaid. They have the function to free up your RAM. That could help a bit.
Try a search for DirMap in Google. It's free and shows you exactly where your RAM has gone. Working fine on my TyTN II.

Hello,
This is my first attempt at .NET CF programming. It is in reference to this thread.
It attempts to cycle the power to the GPS hardware eight times (at 200ms intervals) by calling GPSOpenDevice() and GPSCloseDevice().
It also shows the raw information provided by GetSystemPowerStatusEx2() if you need to troubleshoot your battery.
I'm not sure that it works, but it attempts to do programmatically what is described in the thread link above.
Full source code is included. I think it is also a great tutorial VB.NET project for anyone wanting to learn how to read the power on their device.
Please let me know what you think, and if it even works towards being a workaround for the HTC/Qualcomm chip standby-power drain bug. If it does work, I'll improve it (add autorun/exit-after capability, systray, etc..)
To use this without dealing with VS2005/compiling/etc, just copy HQPowerFix.exe from the bin/Release folder (in the zip) to your device (anywhere) and run it from there.
Note: These images are from my development machine. They look different on the device:

Nice idea! But it seems would be useful to cycle gps state not a fixed amount of times, but based on result of battery drainage (if it's below the certain level, the fix was succeed and no need to cycle gps anymore).
Also it would be useful to create a "command-line mode", when the program is starting and doing the fix without user interference. When done, it makes possible to launch iGo and this program from one script file, to implement the fix automatically after exit from iGo.
I found the MSDN documentation on the SYSTEM_POWER_STATUS_EX2 structure:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa926903.aspx.
It seems I didn't properly implement this structure's usage in my code, so I am planning to fix it tonight when I get home from the office.
@Vladimyr: That's a great idea, I do plan on doing that if this program turns out to be worthwhile and actually do the GPS power-drain fix as intended. Once I figure out how to more accurately read the mV/mA metrics, I will start working on that.
I'm also now working on a front-end/back-end for controlling a Car PC from a Pocket PC.. I think an older iPaq is cheaper than a Lilliput touchscreen

Any updates to your program? Also, is it possible to edit the thread title and put GPS in it? I'd been meaning to reference back to this one and it took me a while to find it.
HAVE ANYONE TRIED THIS ALREADY?
DID IT FIX THE PROBLEM?

For the moment has been performed the installation and testing on Windows XP and are correct, previously in step-by-step installation for Windows XP must be installed and cywgwin with the files .bat (BT on) running.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436982
14.- run cygwin\setup.exe, and select install from folder. select ioperm from the devel subfolder.
Unselect icons on desktop and start menu and finish.
Run cygwin.bat from c:\cygwin
type “ioperm –i” + enter and “exit” + enter
move hsect-2.1\hsect2.exe and move it to c:\cygwin\bin
15.- move the bat files from \archivos bat\ to the desktop.
16.- Run BT on.bat from your desktop and let windows install its own drivers
17.- run WF on.bat from your desktop and cancel the windows installation.
18.- copy HTC Shift XP Drivers\WLAN\sdbus.sys to c:\windows\system32\drivers\ say yes to the replace dialog and reboot.
19.- Install the WLAN drivers , from the hardware manager, right button over marvell SDIO… update driver, and select the HTC Shift XP Drivers\WLAN folder.

The application is fully compatible, after its installation omit any errors, if any, and we will restart the Bluetooth icon in the toolbar. With this application will be able to fully configure the services and management of Bluetooth. It's trial, although one of the link, we can find a way to leave it full!. By leaving the cursor on the icon will tell us the day we have to be able to use it after your treatment, this, it disappears.

Hey,
I just installed the BT stack, and it works perfectly!!! I can even now use the BT Audio gateway, BT headsets, etc..
Now I can make 10c local calls to any landline in Aussie from my VoIP service using a BT headset.
IT IS FANTASTIC, WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Note to installers:
In case you missed the instructions, you need to follow this post and install the WLAN/BT drivers, cygwin, etc, etc... Once done, then download the new stack:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download
When you are installing, it will show some errors, e.g. "...your hardware may not work properly", dont stress, just ignore these messages.
Good work!!!
not possible to disable it
we will have to make an application ourself .. or still use BT off.bat

I'm not quite sure what your question is.
Bluetooth is working fine in both Vista, XP and win7. It is NOT working on the SnapVue (WM) side of the Shift.
The bluetooth stack mentioned in this thread is only needed in XP.
bluetooth WM
how far are we from getting the bluetooth on snapview? to use with phone, or even a headset with mic? anybody heard anything?

After several tests, gives me an error of IO in creation of FDS
any virtual Windows drive, I have partitioned the drive and I have tried on several different units, different abilities and permissions in virtual partitions, but still with the same error IO, what if some user postings by decoding achieves what is the error. The application is trial and no longer exists in its official website, only gives the possibility of creating 1MB or 2MB, but you can find complete if you search by up to 2GB of extra storage.
First apologies to those who might feel offended by posting full programs, this time as there is neither the company nor the program and I got it completely, so postings ONLY WITH RESEARCH eagerness for teachers in programming can investigate and give a solution to this effect which we all have with the Shift and SnapVue

Good sol. although we've been promised by the project team to be able to access both SD Card and HDD from WinMo as Storage Card in the new coming ROM.
I'll try it and see if I get the same error.
============
after trial I got the same error; I tried both file format (NTFS and FAT32). I'll try later with a flash disk and SD Memory card. please note that the software is a trial ver. and only allow2 MB of memory; the bad news is the company website is unavailable so we can't buy it or get support for the error.
Can any of the programmers or developers in this forum disassimble the app and rebuild another app with the same concept.

I've not seen any commitment from the project team that SD card access will definitely be possible - can you point me in the right direction?
I'm of the opinion that the SD card isn't actually physically "connected" to the WinMo portion of the device, so it will never be possible to get native access to the SD card (which is the only type of access that's of any use to me), but I'd love to be wrong on this.

Well, it could be connected physically (hardwarw) and the only thing missing is the driver or configuration of some how; anway you can check the previous post, It's usefull
